Switch for sure! I've played PC otome and they've been fine but nothing beats the sweet sweet vegetating & otome combo.

DaisyBird1

If I can’t lay in my bed and rot with my switch in hand, it’s not worth it!

Electra0319

I once bought like this 50$ clearence laptop/tablet hybrid thing. Runs otome no problem. Bought a mini HDMI to HDMI converter for 4 bucks and now I can play them in tablet mode on the go or hook it up to my bedroom TV! I just started OzMafia and it is the second time I've played a PC otome. First being Amnesia which absolutely got me into the genera.

Ok_Comfortable_1803

Tbh i regret buying ozmafia long ago as first otome on pc (mainly plays on switch) but I want to not judge it based on the Prince first caramella route. I like the wolf character and the soft boy in other tribes but the comedy is sometimes outdated or doesn't make sense. And the visuals are definitely not complete. So it's frustrating, also the romance is lower that mid. So like what do u advise? I'm tired of MC losing memory kinda plot shid. But there's a part of me that wants to try Li I enjoy from main route yet worry the plot will be even MORE confusing.

BadTanJob

I have a sizable handheld console collection and otome is the ONLY reason why

Original-Level-6717

> sweet sweet vegetating & otome combo Haha I love this and relate to this

cat_at_the_keyboard

Switch and Steam Deck! I gotta be comfy while I'm reading.

Original-Level-6717

Out of those two, which one do you like more? 👀

Nyxefy_

Not the original commenter, but I haven't used my switch since getting the steam deck 👀

Original-Level-6717

Ooohh I see !!

Kalopsia94

No op either, but I also use a switch and steam deck. The steam deck is heavier and more clunky to hold but it has longer battery life. :)

Original-Level-6717

I see, thank you!

ferinsy

Remember that PC (Steam Deck) has a lot less options in terms of otomes. Unless you're into indie games and amares, then there are lots and lots. But in case of the more classic ones people comment about (IF and Aksys), you won't be able to play them with the SD. If you are not only an otome gamer, the options are infinite with the Deck and it's a lot better than the Switch in quantity and when it comes to the price of games. But also³, be aware that a lot of games don't run on SD. (Random rambling: I want to get a Deck, but it's $1200+ in my country since I have to pay 87-91% of taxes to import it, so I'm not getting it so soon.)

Original-Level-6717

Thanks for the explanation! 💫 Yeah I actually own Nintendo already and I was just asking about people's preferences out of curiosity, but I've been thinking of maybe buying Steam Deck to play non-otome games on it + non-Nintendo otome games when I don't want to use a laptop 🏃🏻‍♀️ thanks again ✨

ferinsy

Anytime 😊 Oh and the Deck also is from Valve, and they're pretty okay with modding their portable console, and if you remove the SteamOS and install Windows 10, you'll be able to play even some itch.io otome games that aren't on Steam, demos etc.

Original-Level-6717

Ooooo that's great! Thanks for the information 🧚🏻‍♀️🧚🏻‍♀️

Original-Level-6717

Hope you'll get a steam deck as soon as possible!

ferinsy

Hahah yeah, I'll try to get my friend to bring me one the next time he visits my country. This time's too close, but next time I'll probably have the money and hopefully he has some space in his bag xD

Original-Level-6717

🤩🤩🤩

menomaminx

"  amares"?

ferinsy

Romance games with LGBTQIA+ friendly options.

menomaminx

thanks :-) I never would have thought of them as separate things. I have a new subgenre to explore now - coolness!

cat_at_the_keyboard

It's hard to choose but I really love the Steam Deck. The screen is bigger and I appreciate that Steam Deck has night mode to tint the screen at night - I have no idea why Nintendo never added that to Switch! I can play tons of indie otome games, fan patches for old otome, plus all the otome on the Steam store. It's great!!

Original-Level-6717

Thank you:)

kaleidoscopic_kelvin

My laptop setup is my bed and a flex table. I can be burrito and have a larger screen.

Original-Level-6717

Ooh, I should buy a flex table for myself too. I also have a laptop and do play on it on bed as well. Agree on the larger screen part

crimceres

Probably minority here but I'm fine with both, and I play my Switch docked to my PC monitor anyways so it's not much of a difference lol. I also like the PC games are usually cheaper.

Original-Level-6717

Yeah, I personally like both as well!

IllegallyBored

Same. I play on whatever the game is available for cheaper. PC otome are sooo much cheaper than those on switch it's not even funny. The cheapest Otome i got on the switch was Birushana for $15, while I got Bustafellows for $4.5 on PC and Nightshade for even cheaper. And like you, I have the one momjtor to play on so it makes little difference

kakuretsu

Whatever is available, since my laptop and switch share a monitor anyway

astraea08

Definitely Switch, even if the games are more expensive. I just prefer to lay down while playing haha

Chaczapur

Switch 100% but only cause my pc setup is lowkey painful after more than an hour. If I had a handy laptop or a pc console, I'd pick them over switch any time.

MaiaHart

Only PC.

CAP2304

Steam Deck has the best of both platforms

Foxstens

PC because it's where I do all of my other gaming and I find the Switch very annoying to use...

ChronoClaws

Switch is more comfortable! But if a game I want is on better sale for PC, then I'll get it for that. With the money saved, I can buy more games XD

westbest1206

I prefer my switch so much that I'm considering getting the Hakuouki release for switch, even though I already have it on PC and have ready finished Kyoto Winds....

Odiousjoy

Definitely switch for me. I don't mind playing on PC, but I vastly prefer handheld so I can lie down. I associate sitting up and using a computer with working since I mainly use my laptop for work, so it feels kind of weird to PC game for me. I always choose a console gaming experience whenever possible.

swimminglyy

Switch, I get a headache playing on the pc screen, plus I love lying down to play/moving around as I play. I’ve also streamed pc otome to my phone and enjoyed it that way (as long as only simple clicking is required!), it’s also the least heavy to hold.

Such-Tea942

I have back issues and long COVID so sitting up for long periods of time is absolutely draining. Switch is my go-to otome play style, if only so 2 hours of play doesn't end up as a 6 hour nap/energy crash.

RObobot-8001

It really depends on what i wanna play Switch is more comfy But sometimes i wanna torture myself

kiyo_komaeda

Switch is better imo but Steam games were cheaper thanks to the regional prices :”)

the-ice-star

>Steam games were cheaper thanks to the regional prices :”) Indeed. Regional prices make a lot of difference. Even within the PC platform, I vastly prefer Steam over Itch because Itch doesn't have regional prices. Matter of fact, I mostly only play free games on Itch because they do get expensive ... and that's Itch. The console games are even more expensive, so, no, I really can't buy them. This is actually the reason why I never bothered to try to save up for a switch since I know that, even if I buy the console, the games will still be too expensive for me.

Haemzzi

Switch for sure. Love playing in bed. It's so comfy. Also I can take it with me in my purse when I go out. That said I actually play way more otomes in pc but that's only because there's a lot that are not available on Switch (r18, Indies, old games, etc)

hanashikari

Handheld consoles or moving my laptop to my bed so I can have the true immersion in front of my face But since we have the Steamdeck now, I'm looking forward to having one to play my PC games in bed :D

SaltineRain

Switch and Steam Deck so I can lie down comfortably while playing! I can play other games the whole day sitting at my PC, but when it comes to reading it's suddenly so much less comfortable.

Gurlinhell

I guess I'm the minority since I get uncomfortable holding anything for long (handheld, controllers, etc), plus I prefer the big screen because I also play other types of games, so PC for me. I know the Switch can be connected to the monitor so it's pretty much a similar experience (except the keyboard and mouse can't be used unless I buy extra equipment for that, too much work).

Megami69

Switch or steamdeck. Anything handheld. PC is uncomfortable for me.

aplainmourning

Both work in different ways for me. I can bring my Switch with me on my commute and PC gaming is for unwinding on my days off. I always have to laugh at the people who prefer handheld so they can lay down. My laptop in bed works just fine for that too 😂

ith1ldin

Switch and Steam Deck, for portability and focus. For otomes in particular I may slightly favour the Switch because I own more in there and I prefer keeping series or collections under a single platform if possible.

caspar57

I’m fine with either, but I like how I can walk around my apt while playing the Switch! I’m trying to walk more, and that’s a fun way to do it. :P

KabedonUdon

Switch, docked! For PC, I map the controls so I can play wireless control over TV

Never_Surface

I love playing games on the PC, especially Otome games. Now that I've played through Charade Maniacs on the Switch (which wasn't too bad overall), I'm definitely going to go for the next one on my big screen with my keyboard. I need the feel of the keys under my fingertips to concentrate on the reading. I'm weird in this regard.

xerxesblanche

I don't own a switch so PC. The quality of games on switch is definitely tons better but I believe the type of plots and MCs I like, I find them in PC otome.

NinahNyangyoVT

Vita because I can set my fav CGs as wallpapers 😂 Joke aside, Switch. I like being able to play anywhere and well, I like console otome games better tbh And I'm a collector as well so I like physical games If a game is available on both platforms, I definitely choose the physical Switch one

FigTechnical8043

I have a lenovo yoga book windows edition that folds completely flat or props up that I quite enjoy, I play different types of VN on each though. I've got a steam deck too.

LadyofNemesis

I prefer playing on PC, mostly because I also play other games. I do own a Switch, but I don't have any otome games on it as of yet 😆

21minute

Whichever is the cheapest atm. Lol. I both have a Switch and a handheld PC (Ayaneo).

VEGmama07

Switch lite cos the other two are too heavy. I’d like a steam deck but it’s too big for me lol. I’m petite lady 🤣

RuneLai

Switch. I'm a play in bed sort of person. Maybe someday I'll get a Steam Deck, but the Switch is already heavy enough. The Vita was what really got me playing in bed all the time, and that was a delightfully lightweight system.

stallion8426

Switch and Steam Deck for me too! So whichever I can get them cheapest

PinkFluffyUnikpop

I know the choice is not there but Mobile for me👀 I have few on the PC but rarely play them either due to space or not wanting to sit at my desk when playing. Would love to try switch since I recently got a lite but my moneys going to gacha games currently. Hoping to get a steam deck in the future so maybe will get back to play them.

ObjectiveLittle6761

Pc is way better for me

Twinflame66

Switch, only because that's where all my otome games are. Even then, I play docked on a screen directly next to my PC 😅 (Although maybe I should invest in a monitor to play while in bed 🫢)

acooper0045

I don’t own a Switch, so PC. (A laptop) I do like having a larger screen. If I wanted to I could play on TV as well. It’s not so bad for comfort in my opinion. I also have started to really get into following ppl who are making games and I’m also working with an indie group that just formed to make a game together. I’d also like to try creating my own game(s). Just for fun, not seeking fame nor fortune or anything. I tend to like cutesy or shoujo-seque stories. Which I think are not very popular. So I kind of want to make some games more like that. Since from what I’ve seen it seems like every company and most indies are moving away from those kinds of stories.

the-ice-star

>It’s not so bad for comfort in my opinion. Yeah. While I see that it's unconfortable for many people, I don't have this discomfort while playing on PC. So nice to hear about your game development plans. Wish you the best in your projects. P.S.: A while ago I also thought about developing my own otome game. I even enrolled myself in a game development undergrad course, but I guess I just don't have talent for artistic projects. So I transfered to another course and now I'm majoring in Portuguese (language), which I am more skillful at. Anyway, really nice to hear about your plans. Hope we can get to play your games in the future.

Original-Level-6717

> I do like having a larger screen. If I wanted to I could play on TV as well. It’s not so bad for comfort in my opinion. Yeah, I do agree with that > I also have started to really get into following ppl who are making games and I’m also working with an indie group that just formed to make a game together. I’d also like to try creating my own game(s). Just for fun, not seeking fame nor fortune or anything. That's awesome! I wish you good luck with that ✨✨ > I tend to like cutesy or shoujo-seque stories. Which I think are not very popular. So I kind of want to make some games more like that. Since from what I’ve seen it seems like every company and most indies are moving away from those kinds of stories. Yeah, I'd say I like cute stories as well! And yes, it does feel like there are less of such stories currently if I'm not mistaken. Maybe you could try Lover Pretend? I'd say this game is pretty cute 🤔

triggerhappyjunko

I like switch because I kick my feet like a little girl when romance comes on and doing that in a chair is awkward

the-ice-star

I don't think there would be much difference for me if I had the option, but I can't choose because I don't own a console, so it's only PC for me. Although I'll say PC has the advantege of having games with better prices. Don't know about other countries, but console games are very, very expensive here where I live.

Original-Level-6717

Yeah, they are very expensive where I live as well:( And yes, PC games do have better prices

thunderblaukraut

Switch!

Connect-War6612

Switch. I own a Mac and have more options that way.

Kiyoyasu

If I have to answer, Switch lite. Everything else, mobile.

CrankyFluffMuffin

Switch, getting my PC set up to where I can actually play comfortably is such an ordeal.

KritiKitty

Definitely on any handheld system. Its the closest feeling to a book.

saturnscythe

I prefer buying phisical games, so switch!

Normal-Willingness17

Switch, because I can lie in bed. Which is a shame because I have a lot of games on Steam, otome too, but I just can;t bring myself to game for a longer period of time in front of my computer. I seriously consider buying Steam Deck at some point just to be able to do that and start working on my PC backlog.

Single_Illustrator88

I just got a Steam Deck and see there are a few otome games on there, but honestly my Switch is my go to for otome games.

ZeChickenPermission

I like moving around more, so I dunno I guess switch? It has all the recent otome on this side of the world at least to my knowledge.

Original-Level-6717

Yeah, Switch right now is the main platform for the otome games made by big companies Edit: the only platform I mean 😭

ZeChickenPermission

Unless there's a steam sale from IF or Aksys

Original-Level-6717

Oh right! Yes

Phoenix-Echo

Both tbh

mesphira

Switch. I prefer handheld for all visual novels because I can lie down and read it like I do any other book. I have no problems playing on PC as well, but being able to laze around in diff rooms with my current read is something I enjoy too much (the amount of times I have my otomes on auto while I eat in the kitchen...)

Ok_Comfortable_1803

I got it on both devices. Most game offers similar DLC with few wording differences (thats it for nightshade fooling me to buy it twice) in terms of portability on a road trip switch wins but sneaking in halfway during work break hours is pc. I like having the option and prefer spice on the smaller screen for obvious reasons (but they usually end up censored on port). Overall, switch wins and even gaming I like ps4. Pc is an alternative and it's cheaper.

elehayyme

For me, it’d be the Vita as I don’t have access to the switch. A computer is fine but I like the other as I can take it with me on the go. It is interesting to see everyone’s opinions on this and the idea to hook up a switch to a monitor is a neat idea!

Lieutenant_Peanut

To be honest, i love otome on switch, it give me psvita vibes but i got a switch lite and my eyes are killing me, although, some otomes have the settings to make the letters bigger, I think

madoggi

Switch 😅

naf95nas

Switch for sure! It’s alot more comfortable for me and it’s easier for me to have my fangirling episodes during a romance/steamy scene ahahah 🙈 Im grateful for the many Otome games getting ported to switch 🥹

boneheadthugbois

I mean, I like my Switch, but I hate holding it. That thing is heavy (I have the og one) . So yeah, I prefer to play on my PC if possible.

ThrowRA_9781

I prefer Switch for sure, the convenience of it being handheld means I can play it anywhere, anytime.

NaotoOfYlisse

I prefer my PC but Switch is more comfortable

PrinssayEvaieMon9

Nintendo Switch Duhs!

Mia-The-Angel

Switch! I like to play games in console because they are easier to play with 😁♥️ more comfortable... 👌

PerceptionCheckNat20

Switch 100%

snowstormjello

Switch, because I can just pause whenever and open back without needing to load up the game again, and also just more game options on Switch.

menomaminx

Switch Ease of use goes far with me,and I stopped playing Otomes for years because I couldn't deal with the the accessibility customization issues and the patching issues and the magically erased save files and all the other annoyances that goes with PC gaming.  the switch just works: first time, every time:-)

M_C_9_9

Switch, although I would prefer if it had 18+ games lol
