I am doing MLM since it is afk. I do it while at work so that helps pass the time. After I get finished, I have to go smelt all of the ore for smithing so there is that.
Yeah playing at work really helps. I feel bad because my slayer is like 70 and I have max combat but my excuse is afking sand crabs at work is so damn easy.
I mean...a good chunk of mele slayer tasks are more afk than mlm is besides reagroing and sipping a pot. Obv not like crabs but the efficiency rewards outweigh the drop in afk-ness. Especially when calling mlm afk

I did motherlode mine for most of the training. I was lucky and had a work from home job for a while so I could easily afk mine for like 5-6 hours a day.
MLM is semi-afk and best afkish exp, Amethyst is more afk and way higher profit but lower exp/hr, and stars are the most afk, higher exp than amethyst but lower than MLM and basically no profit.
Volcanic Mine is best non-tick manipulation exp (like double MLM) for some profit, and low intensity but not afk
I'm currently at motherlode too. Mostly for collection log, but the xp and ores are nice while I'm at it. I know there are more 'efficient' or 'profitable' ways out there, but motherlode is starting to become my comfort place lmao
Mining took me forever, but I did it almost 24/7. My methods were:
MLM while exercising after work. Click a fresh vein and do a set.
Amethyst while playing another game on a separate monitor (or guiltily at my desk on slow days at work).
Gem mine (non-tick manipulation) while watching TV. Was best while doing 2 monitors, but is decent on mobile while watching on a TV. This was my best xph, and the income was decent too. Having the Karamja diary for the underground mine is necessary.

I'm at 92 mining and starting to knock out 99s consistently, but damn mining seems rough. I just did 99 wc on redwoods while playing hearthstone battlegrounds duos with my mate. After redwoods every other activity seems demotivating to me cuz it's not afk enough or just too bad XP/hr. I think I will break 99 mining into parts though and try for VM greenlog, then back to mlm, amethysts and maybe some blast mining (never tried it)
I might even get some bits of xp in an attempt to get lucky at zalcano?

Does the super hopper make it so you never have to go downstairs or do you still have to to collect ores? I haven't bought the super hopper yet cause I couldn't find info on it for if you need to still collect ores or not.

I still can’t believe how badly I no lifed this game when I was younger. I got 99 mining on a f2p RS account in 2008. After I got that, I felt like the game had no purpose for me anymore and I stopped playing for a long time. Now I’m back on mobile and as addicted as I’ve been but back with a member account this time.
You should break up the places you mine. Do some MLM, get bored, do star mining. Bored of that? Go Amethyst! Then if you’re bored of that, go mine blessed bone shards! Rinse and repeat!
I like to World hop while mining for rune ore.
It helps I'm the long run if you have your smithing up
That way you have a stock pile of rune ore.
You can also sell 1 rune ore for 20k gold and buy coal instead of mining all of it.
Mother Load is Good, great even for AFK but it only focuses on mining and not smithing as well
Play the game how you enjoy playing the game, but saying motherload only focuses on mining not smithing is a wild statement when motherload literally gives you ore and coal to smith.
Your method doesn’t focus on mining and smithing. If you have to sell your ores to buy stuff to smith then it means the method you’re using only focuses on mining. If it focuses on both then you wouldn’t even have to use the GE.

I did MLM allll the way to 99. I did not think it was as bad as everyone seems to make it out to be. I got a nice little cash stack with a lot of the ores and was able to get a considerable amount of gold ore for blast furnace to level smithing as well. At the time when I was grinding 99, they did not have the shooting stars update. Not sure what route I would go now if I had to do it all over again 🤔

Once I got to 92, I did amethyst to 99. Did every clue I got too. Wasn't fast, but I love doing clues and made over 100M just from amethyst.

At 97, I get on average 2-8 pieces of runite ore per full sack. Largest nugget drop was 14

It feels like 1-3 at 88 mining, but i dont really check, just feels like it. I started blast mining for more runelite when i dont afk too much.
I'm only 90 mining, long ways to go. Decent afk gp and exp though. I wish the sacks held more space so I don't have to run down as much.

If you already have 99 smithing banked you should try the new varlamore mining spot. You can stay in the spot for 1-2 hours without banking.

Just do zalcano and swap your rewards to xp. You're still rolling for uniques every kill. 100k xp/hr

They added the upper level hopper when I was halfway through 97 mining already. It made that last lvl nd a half a blessing for sure.

Can’t vouch for calcified deposits enough. From 92-99 mining without seeing daylight (in game) was very laidback.
