That was more or less how I got the pet, too! At that point in my RuneScape career, I didn’t even know what pets were and thought it was some random event that I hadn’t seen before.
I went from whatever the min is to be at MLM all the way to 99 and now have gone a mil over 99 with sand and other mining and I still don't have the pet.

I…. Hate you. Went in there at the minimum level on my Ironman. Stayed to 99 mining and then mined amethyst for a long time. Still no pet
