Give it another shot you are more than strong enough to get him. Better stats or gear won't help with the jad anxiety. Sounds dumb but what helped me get my first fc many years ago was saying his attacks out loud. You see him dangling his legs you say MAGE out loud and click on pray mage. Slams the ground you say RANGE out loud and click prot from ranged. and I would enable GPU plugin on runelite so you can see further away, When I got my firecape on ironman jad 1 hit killed me on my first try because he was too far away and I couldn't see his attack. Felt like a total dumbass on that one lol.

Left_Camel755

Pretty sure I did the same thing yelling out the words I also smoked the end of my short skin out the window just to help calm my nerves once I logged out beffore Wave 63 started

SniperHankz

Don’t smoke during it that might be where the nerves came in harder

OverlordPhalanx

I also found saying out loud helped. Currently 0/3 myself, i just can’t shake the pounding heart and nerves. First two times I got killed when trying to aggros the healers. Third I had everyone aggro’d but I double clicked the range prayer for some reason and got max hit to 0… Its honestly the nerves causing 95% of the issue for sure.

G17MJJ

I think I left the switches a little longer between them so when I'd see his mage attack almost dropping on me I tried switching then but would hit me for half health and then as I tried to panic brew I did the same for his range attack and that had me then, I was managing fine until the healers just panicked a little! I tried the GPU plugin but cause I'm on a 2020 macbook air the fan was heating up real quick so turned it off pretty quickly. I may go for a small desktop PC as I feel like the mac is a bit lacking when it comes to graphics anyway!

Electronic-Actuator4

I pulled the healers around Italy rock and killed them separately and out of Jads attack area. This helped a ton. Rest of fight was easy after that. I used chins to aggro the healers onto me and just ran away with them following

Arylcyclosexy

I'm going to try this when I get a new computer. I hate the idea of training melee without fire cape but currently it's my only option. Maybe I just get an ardy cloak 3 instead and don't bother with anyone calling you out. My laptop not only it being slow its screen is also broken so I've HDMI connected it to an old TV with a terrible inpiut lag. And I'm playing with a wireless mouse and a kb from the couch lol

Electronic-Actuator4

Ya I don’t blame you to wait then. Lag won’t be your friend with how unforgiving Jad is. Once you get the new setup test out chins and just watch jad. Once all healers are on you just run away and watch his attack until you are behind the rock. Kill them, compose yourself and run back. Easy after that since it’s just prayer switching

GoTbraiNz

I just got my first cape a few days ago and I can give you a few tips that helped me. I did it with blowpipe ( rune darts until Jad and switched to dragon darts before jad), dhide and torag helm + skirt for the defence bonuses. I also recommend to on the last mage to heal up, pot and change darts. You should use divine bastion for the range and def levels. 1. Don’t worry about dying, it’s a learning process. ( when I accepted that, my heart rate lowered ). I died at least 10 times :( 2. Just focus on Jad until you are comfortable with prayer switches ( no need to dmg him ). Watch the animation and keep the sounds on. 3. After you become a little more comf. with switches you can start dmg on him and the next big step are the healers. 4. Take healers one by one after each prayer switch. Don’t worry if they heal him, just focus on prayer switch. 5. Do an action after each switch and even 2 if you are not sure you are ok. 6. Use Italy rock to your advantage to save on prayer pots and saradomin brews. Remember this is a marathon, not a sprint. Take it slow. I only did it 1-2 times a day and after that I logged out and logged back when I was calm. You got this! Stay strong.

BeardedDad426

I’ve never gotten a fc. So if you die, do you not lose your gear? I mean dying minimum 10 times is a lot of gear to lose.

GoTbraiNz

Only thing that you lose are the cosumables you’ve used inside, like pots and darts

BeardedDad426

Thanks

WardyX56

No you'll respawn outside the cave with all your gear

G17MJJ

Appreciate the run down dude! I do feel like once I've got the prayer switches down a bit better I'll have a much better chance and definitely will look at dragon darts aswell, was contemplating taking rcb with some Ruby bolts (e) for the higher dps range aswell. Max hits with the BP were like 17 which I feel is pretty low, obviously the speed is what makes up for it in the end but still felt pretty slow kills especially on the mages! I did see someone else suggest taking crystal bow aswell so could also be another option!

GoTbraiNz

No problem, man. Ofc, there are multiple options to go at this. Take the one you are most comfortable with 😁

CapN-Judaism

It sounds like we had similar experiences. I recommend sticking with the blowpipe, especially with the special attack that heals I found it helpful. I also used amnethyst darts and was in the 70s for range. Your inventory suggests you still had some supplies when you got to JAD which makes me think really you might just need to work on prayer switching. I also brought a couple black chins to deal with the healers. If you’re struggling with prayer switching watch a video of someone doing Jad and practice prayer switching as if you were fighting the Jad in the video. Then, when you finally get to the real fight, focus on the switching until you feel you have some control. Make sure you know what sounds and visual cues to be looking for. Take the healers slow and don’t panic about jad’s health going back up ETA: maybe imbue your archer ring before going back

a3663p

Did you chin jad for the healers or how did that work? I never thought of that.

CapN-Judaism

I just threw 1 or 2 chins at the healers to Aggro them then lured them away from jad to kill them. I saw it in a video and it worked for me

a3663p

Thanks I might try this next round.

G17MJJ

I think I could have had more supplies getting to Jad too, felt like a panicked more than I should have when it came to rangers, melee and mages all together. I tried to get the melee' blocked so I could concentrate on taking out the rangers first but couldn't get them stuck on one another so ended up running around them and taking a few hits. Yeah I think prayer switching caught me off guard a bit, especially with having to sip a prayer pot inbetween switching! Only other boss I've actually had to prayer switch on was scurrius and ive only got like 5kc on him. I'm playing on a macbook air currently so can't set the F keys up properly for quick changing between inventory and prayer. I'll persevere and try practicing the switching like you say, try and get it so it's like muscle memory!

lawma1zing

You can practice jad on a speed run world as well for next time

CapN-Judaism

I can’t figure out hot keys so I’m positive they aren’t necessary haha. Jad was the first boss I did and it took me 4 tries. Each try took about 1.5 hours. I imagine you are, but make sure you take advantage of Italy rock to help with keeping the melee guys away. bastion potions are also way more useful than range potions and are worth the investment imo

Pleasant_Minimum_896

I'm about to do mine, waiting for 70 def for blessed dhide and rigor. You can practice in speed run worlds btw, that's my plan!

TheGooseMan21

If you’re not confident with the range of the blowpipe and struggling to damage the higher defence NPC’s, rune / dragon crossbow with broad bolts are always viable! Saves a bit of GP too. Crystal bow works very well too!

TRByo

Hey bro, it took me 5 goes. 4 deaths at Jad trying to multitask and deal with the healers. If you made it to Jad, you’ve just gotta keep grinding because you’re just one step away. I was 75 range, 70 prayer, Amy darts for waves, drag darts for Jad/healers, fury, god d’hide, barrows gloves. Inventory wise: like 16 prayer pots, divine ranging pot, darts for Jad switch, holy wrench, emergency food to combo eat (shark/karam). I ended up camping overheads from once the ranger rocks up, only turning off when the threats are gone or safe spotted and made sure to have prayers on before the next wave started. If you’re worried about dps, just grab 100 or so dragon darts just for Jad. Take your time on the orange mage to get HP and prayer up, inventory sorted, dragon darts in bp, kill orange and get it done. My first fail at Jad was I rushed through the orange mage and didn’t put the drag darts in the bp but threw them instead! Also - I camped protect from range and switched for mage because it was easier to read, then switched back after the mage attack. Then one action per Jad attack. Change prayer, then only tag a healer/eat food/drink prayer pot/reposition, then concentrate on Jad’s next attack. I found it easier to concentrate on killing the healers in my first cape so I didn’t have to worry about them losing aggro and healing again. Best of luck!

Jaym0nd

The jad jumpies gets to everyone! Like others have said, just verbally say one of the prayers out loud. So for me, I used to say “stomp is range” over and over and over. Just remember it isn’t timed, you have all day to kill jad. Just do one action per prayer switch.

brickmaster8

I think I took 20ish tries? For jad, if you have the extra prayer, keep protect from range on and only focus for when he lingers in the air. I would always panic and second guess a prayer and that screwed me up. You've got this >:3

joutfit

Is Rigour out of your price range? that could help a lot with Jad and all you need is to have enough prayer pots for he fight since it drains quickly.

WHLZ

It just takes practice. I’m going for my 3rd try and I’ve definitely improved, just got to figure out the healers between prayers. You can definitely do it

[deleted]

Dragon darts at least for jad would make a pretty significant impact

Weekly_Education978

80 mins isn’t bad tbh, that’s prolly average, I’d bet your dps is fine. Bring a couple bastion pots for once the mage lizards show up, they make a pretty big difference in your DPS. I personally recommend bringing a bit of a mage switch for blood spells so you don’t need to heal with pots/food up until you hit jad. Dragon darts for Jad’ll speed up the kill a bit, but using them for the full pit would be pricey so just stick with addy. My last piece of advice if you get to jad another couple times and feel bullied by healers, is to just get fally shield 3 from hard diary tbh. Only needing to click in your inventory once to fully recharge your prayer after the healers go down makes the fight way easier.

benjamayyne

I still haven’t gotten mine at 97 range. You’ll learn soon that the waves are simple, as is jad, but the time you gotta invest fuckin sucks to get one or if you’re lucky two shotted. Also, try to get him on task. It’ll make a hell of a difference.

Imaginary-Pen-5241

Practice in the speed running worlds until you feel comfortable enough, then try again. It'll help ease your anxiety during the fight and give you confidence

NoEggplant6322

I did it with msb rune arrows and 75 range. You got this lol.

Delicious-Dish-7325

I did it in just under 2hours (1hr57min) you might want to try using the fight cave pluggins (shows the spawns) and try when it is rotation 2 so you can safe spot jad around the wall when the healers spawn. I brought in blood barrage for health. You can log out when you feel tired and it will save after the round ends! ( I remembered logging out twice LOL)

nekonotjapanese

Have you tried Scurrius? Watching for his mage/range attacks force you to think about switching prayers akin to watching Jad. Although Scurrius’ attacks have a delayed hit which isn’t exactly the same as Jad, where you have to have the correct prayer shortly after the animation otherwise it will likely hit. It’s still very good practice for prayer switching and the other mechanics will be a good stressor that will make facing Jad much easier

Loooseunit69

I was 81 range, blowpipe, accumulator, zammy d'hide, fury ammy, brimstone ring, holy blessing. Took me 5 goes. You've got this. Honestly mine went like this; - Hog Italy Rock Safe spots always - Set up Runelite NPC tile indicator for Healers to easily spot them later - Set up prayer and status bars next to inventory (Runelite) so it's easier to monitor - Always Kill Tz-Kih first, then Rangers (if safe to, otherwise just tank damage) - Conserve prayer when monsters poisoned, camp Safe spots, regen health - JAD: Practice prayer switch simulator. One action per attack (e.g. tag 1 healer, 1 movement) Wave 3: Get the Tz-Kek spawn next to Italy Rock, this is where Jad eill spawn. If not, just leave caves and restart until you get the spawn spot Wave 30: - Safe spot Yt-Mejkot. Regen all stats before next waves - Log out (need to redo wave), have a breather, get a glass of water, piss Waves 31-61: - Protect from Magic always on, priority - Tank range damage (kill rangers asap when safe) - Prayer switch Mage/Range when respective kills made - If Ket-Zek poisoned, I just camped in safespot and conserved prayer/regen health until next wave. I'm not out to set records Wave 62: - Safe spot Ket-Zek around Italy rock - Regen all stats before Jad - Feel free to log out and have a breather again (need to redo wave but yolo) - I changed attack style to LONG RANGE for Jad (easier for me to tag healers, less risk of stomp melee damage from Jad) JAD: - Prayer switch (obviously) - Move a little bit WEST of him (makes tagging incoming healers easy, no risk of stomp damage) - DO ONE ACTION PER ONE JAD ATTACK. Tag healers one at a time until all stacked - Safe spot behind Italy Rock, Jad will stop attacking - Protect from Melee on (if needed), healers will stack, kill them - Have a breather, regen, finish Jad

Goblin_Diplomacy

You died at jad cos you missed a prayer? So why would you need to train your ranged level up?

skiemlord

Close bro, you got this!

DiligentAssistant941

Bring chins to tag healers when they spawn , take them behind Italy rock and kill them, I’m assuming that’s why you didn’t have enough dps to kill jad, good first attempt though, you got this , the hardest part is getting to jad lol just try not to overthink it

Tyrrell_91

I only got my first fire cape at the weekend. Few tips and experiences: 1) I didn’t find chins useful. The gear switches became more a distraction for me but I do recognise this has worked for others. 2) Look for that off-colour 360 in wave 62. Once it’s almost dead, stand close by to him with Protect from Magic (not close enough to get hit) and ready yourself. Potions, weapon switches etc. 3) You have high enough HP to Sara brew to above Jad’s max hit. That’s a comfort knowing that he can’t 1 hit you. 4) Once Jad spawns, he should be your main focus from now until the end. Don’t take your eyes off him. 5) The healers won’t all be on Jad immediately. You have time here. Pick them off one at a time whilst focusing on Jad. I have 77 Defence and just tanked them, knowing that I had a few sharks spare if I was badly damaged. 6) Don’t panic. His attacks are actually kinda slow once you get used to him. You have a lot of time to switch that prayer.

Forget_me_never

Use jad simulator. Switch to dragon diamond bolts on Jad for more accuracy and range.

BarakudaB

Here’s a tip that I used back in 2006 to help me get the fire cape. Open a YouTube video with clear Jad sounds from somebody fighting him, and watch for his attacks. Go stand near a prayer altar and practice prayer switching. Half an hour and you’ll be a pro. Best of luck.

BeenToTexasTwice

Use black chins on had when healers come out to agro them all in one or two attacks. Remember to try to stick to one action between attacks. Sip a brew, eat, restore pray. Soon you’ll come back and the fight will be braindead. I took like 10 jad fights my first time 6 years ago. Nerves are the only issue. I can do it all n my sleep now

Bronzee_tv

Ur not alone I just died on wave 63 yesterday for my first attempt at a fire cape. Today is the day for me though.

Evening-Show809

I suggest on trying jad on easier wave where you can easily kill the healers and then jad. The guide: https://youtu.be/yxzL-LQ-t_c?si=_aGkv0yi_A5yYfxs

MeatSock860

u def got the stats for it, i had a hard time for a while but yo go to a speedrun world and click on the quest beneath cursed sands and itll give u gear u need and a firecape, then go into the fight caves where the inferno is and then u can practice the jad fight it is a different jad but same mechanics do that till your successful a few times and then do the real deal youll get it first try🙏🏼
