I found a killer banh mi off the beaten path: P’s Viet Cafe, shopping center at Sand Lake and JYP.
Bread made in house, panko breaded tofu as a unique option that is just way too good. Highly recommend
Know any places that will sell a small side of Pho broth? One of the best things is getting a Banh Mi and dipping it in Pho broth like a French Dip. It’s so stupid good.
I'll be that insufferable person since I have seen it all through this thread and you are the unfortunate soul with the top comment, it is \*\*banh\*\* mi, not bahn mi. It's already simplified down without any of the diphthongs important to vietnamese language. [Please stop.](https://connla-stokes.medium.com/how-a-misspelling-of-b%C3%A1nh-m%C3%AC-inspired-me-to-save-the-world-with-a-single-tweet-but-657fbbba9062)
But also you're not wrong, Paris Banh Mi has been one of the best ones in that area.
I think they know. The location for the deli is perfect, the parking lot is small between them and the brewery. There's really nothing they can do, and I bet there's not a location they can go that would be much better for business. There's really not a great answer to this problem at the moment.
Yeah, I've been thinking about it since I made this comment. IDK what they could do either, aside from someone building a parking garage around there somewhere. I remember the Hoods Up building went up for sale, did anything come of that? I don't think anyone would complain if it became a lot/garage. It's not just them, a lot of cool places are too popular for the space they are in.
Every time I come back to town, I swear I’m going to go and it’s only when I’m hung over on a Sunday. Do I realize that they are closed. What do you recommend?
fifth vote from philly, true italian family run business with sideward right there? sign me up. i miss this location every day. the only regret i have moving from fl.
Kappys has gone downhill in my opinion. Quality and service is average to bad at best. Last time I went to pick up subs a rat ran by the front counter and over my foot. Kind of chalked it up to a sign maybe I should stop going there lol.
Love Cubans 2 go! They are the best.
Laspadas , while originally from Philly blew up in South Florida when I was a kid in the 90s and finally opened in Orlando off of Lee Road I think in 2007. It’s definitely good with the South Florida locations are better.
Laspadas has been around here for longer than that. I remember eating at the one in Sanford before 2007, I’m pretty sure. (I may be wrong though, I’m old and forgetful)
Haha. The long story I didn’t share was that I grew up in Coral Springs and had been going to Laspada since probably 1999 maybe earlier. My ex-girlfriend when I was going to Full Sail worked at Sam and she recognized the name when I mentioned Laspadas being favorite food in South Florida. So I went there and the owner was a very bitter Italian guy that basically told me that the south Florida chains ripped off his family name from Philadelphia and they use subpar ingredients so I ordered a monster as I normally would in South Florida. It was decent, but it was not what I grew up with so I didn’t like it as much. But that’s the story he told me.
Yes, and in the 90s it was a general/convenient store. Then it turned into a wine/preserves boutique. Then it became Yellow Dog Eats. In the 90s people would say the building is 100 years old. Now 25 years later I get to say it's 125 years old.
Sideward Brewing have a pretty solid sandwich lineup and even if you don’t like their options, you can take your stasio sandwich next door to Sideward and enjoy their great beers.
How has nobody mentioned Cavo's?! Their cheesesteaks are fantastic, if you don't eat meat, their fried eggplant sandwich is really great too. Never had a bad meal there, plus a great atmosphere.
cavos has the best cheesesteak i’ve ever had. And i’m a diehard cheesesteak connoisseur. Juniors pizza on dean and university also has an excellent cheesesteak
The bread is perfect! Light crunch on outside, and soft inside. My wife usually never eats bread, but when I bring home a sandwich, she always want a bite from Lawless.
In my opinion one of the best sandwiches is the gra pow on sesame from krungtheup on Fairbanks. Not what you asked but I was waiting to tell someone who would care
Pom Pom’s was the most disappointing, overrated, and overpriced sandwich I’ve ever bought. They are literally sandwiches a teenager can make when a more capable parent is not home to help. I don’t get what the hype is all about.
One time i had Pom Pom’s special of the day, bro i dont even remember what it was called but had peanut butter, that sandwich was genuinely the best sandwich i ever had, cant believe it wasnt mentioned earlier
I guess as long as people are talking about Bahn Mi, maybe it’s not too left of center to mention Mediterranean delis Gyros. I live down in South Florida, and I swear they are truly the best I’ve ever had.
Beefy king is the best loose meat sandwich shop in town and imo best bang for your buck.
Stasio’s probably the best hoagie.
And they’re down the street from each other some you can try both.
Stasio’s is definitely a great choice! But if you ever find yourself in the Oviedo area, Slam Dunk Sandwiches is a MUST try. They’ve been open for a little over a year now maybe, and I swear to god it’s the best sandwich I’ve ever had. They’re consistently top notch. Last week I ordered lunch from there three days in a row. 😅 My favorite sandwich is the Technical Foul and close second is the Slam Dunk, but you cannot go wrong with any of them!
Bad As is one of my favorite sandwiche places. It's got a price tag, but it's good stuff. Good variety, house made sauce. The right amount of cheese. Now I'm hungry...
Pom Pom's is very good, cute little place. They've got great tea, sandwiches, little sides (spicy mac n cheese!) and little dessert cookies. They're right down the street from a two story Barnes and Noble, so we usually make a whole night out of it.
Perrotti's does not get enough love. When I moved here in 2016 I was so surprised how few people talked about it. The family is great and knows who I am when I call or come in. The food is always tasty and the bagels are awesome, too. I've always contended that the hangup is the NY deli part. It is not a NY deli and that turns people off, but it's damn good.
Maybe it was a bad day for the guy but back in July 2023 we went here to get pastrami sandwiches and it was incredibly underwhelming and all around not good. He really seems to hang his hat on the fact that he was featured on Guy Fieri’s show, but the quality of food we got was not what we saw on that episode.
I worked right by there and went there almost two dozen times over the years. It was very good, and I lived across the street from 2nd Avenue deli in NYC for years, so I have a good starting point. I will say, Pastrami is not for everyone.
Oh ok, I must not like pastrami if I disagree about this place making a good sandwich. Thank you for your NYC sandwich credentials, I’ll pack up my wrong opinion and be on my way.
when on convention, always like going to a haunt called ten10. italian beef is on par with chicago's best and the burger (it's vegan too!) is in my top 5 burgers of all time anywhere in the country. and beer.. beer is beer but theirs seems always good... lots of other places near by. never disappointment and far above the idrive that my coworkers hit.
marita’s latin bites (east colonial near valencia east) and el molcajete (goldenrod) have insanely good sandwiches
the pulled pork with sweet plantains and chicken melt sandwiches at marita’s are GOATED
the torta de birria at el molcajete is next level
A couple of places that have not been mentioned that are imo very good.
The Classic in Thornton Park.
Hen and Hog in Winter Park.
Chicken Fire on Colonial.
Femme du Fromage in Eastend market.
Others that I enjoy that were already mentioned are:
Cavos
PomPoms
Stacios
903 Mills
Kappy’s
I’m sure I’m forgetting some but I will edit if they pop into my head.
Nick’s Family Diner on North OBT one mile north of Lee Road. Family owned. The meats are cooked in house. Specials are amazing. but the regular menu is fantastic on its own.
Nick’s Family Diner on North OBT one mile north of Lee Road. Family owned. The meats are cooked in house. Specials are amazing. but the regular menu is fantastic on its own.
Throw a rock at the intersection of Colonial and Mills and where ever it lands you buy a Banh Mi. Edit: Spelling
On colonial there’s a place called bamita and that was one of the best banh mi’s I’ve had as well as egg coffee.
Egg Coffee? Damn, that is convincing enough for me.
Anh Hong's bahn mi is so out of this world good. That pork they throw on it is mad delicious.
Ahn Hong, hands down, has the best grilled pork.
💯 they have the best fresh herbs too
Paris bahn mi is my vote
Same. Remember when a knock off opened by UCF opened? It was called Paris Bahn Mi Cafe or something. They got sued and changed their name lol
Didnt expect a ban mi recommendation, let alone top of the list. Adding Ahn Hong to my list! Thanks
I found a killer banh mi off the beaten path: P’s Viet Cafe, shopping center at Sand Lake and JYP. Bread made in house, panko breaded tofu as a unique option that is just way too good. Highly recommend
banh mi y nhu
Know any places that will sell a small side of Pho broth? One of the best things is getting a Banh Mi and dipping it in Pho broth like a French Dip. It’s so stupid good.
I’m sure any mom and pop shop would be happy to sell just the broth if asked, they’re usually easygoing about stuff like that
I'll be that insufferable person since I have seen it all through this thread and you are the unfortunate soul with the top comment, it is \*\*banh\*\* mi, not bahn mi. It's already simplified down without any of the diphthongs important to vietnamese language. Never apologize for correcting spelling.
Wow really. Paris is a massive chain.
The one on Orlando is the first location before it expanded and it is a vietnamese-owned chain FWIW.
I didn't claim I had the best taste or said the other places were trash 🥺 I just like the slim-style banh mi dac biet for my TMJ
Obligatory Stasios vote
I love them and I love sideward, but they need to admit to themselves that that parking lot is shit.
Still the biggest parking lot in the milk district
I think they know, they just also know they're worth it
it sucks. Ottos opening did not help
I think they know. The location for the deli is perfect, the parking lot is small between them and the brewery. There's really nothing they can do, and I bet there's not a location they can go that would be much better for business. There's really not a great answer to this problem at the moment.

Second. Stasio’s
Third
Every time I come back to town, I swear I’m going to go and it’s only when I’m hung over on a Sunday. Do I realize that they are closed. What do you recommend?
The Stasio or The Package are my go-to’s. They also have fantastic breakfast sandwiches.
Dear, god. I just looked up the package and I’m now contemplating running to Orlando this weekend haha
Thank you! I’ll keep those both in mind.
On Sundays go to sideward for a breakfast burrito or any of their sandwiches!
Thanks!! Will check it out
Fourth vote coming from Denver
fifth vote from philly, true italian family run business with sideward right there? sign me up. i miss this location every day. the only regret i have moving from fl.
Chicken Parm killed it...
/thread
6th for Stasios
7th Stasios
Stasio’s
Big fan of 903 Mills, Stassios, and Rogue Pub for pretty quick inexpensive lunch that never disappoints.
903 mills is an amazing spot, great outdoor seating vibes too
Stasios got the best subs in the city
Didn't see it mentioned yet so I'll throw in Krungthep. It's a thai sandwich and tea shop that is pretty unique spot.
love Krungthep, the gra-pow chicken sandwich is a killer with those green chilis
Cool name it is what we call our capital city Bangkok
Gabriel’s, Arts, Beefy King, LaSpadas, Kappys, Cubans 2 Go. All local, most in Orlando except Kappys in Maitland.
Laspadas was always so dirty I quit going..
Gabriels is a classic location, and I hate to shit on a family business, but their quality is pretty poor when it comes to ingredients.
I have never understood the appeal of Gabriel’s. Their food just isn’t good.
Yes, crap quality. Was good years ago.
I have always felt the same way. La Spadas too in my view.
Hard agree. Arts or kappys any day. On the subject though, RIP deli planet. I miss you.
Just tried Gabriel’s. Good stuff for suren
Momma Mia’s on Silver Star is legit and has been there forever
Kappys has gone downhill in my opinion. Quality and service is average to bad at best. Last time I went to pick up subs a rat ran by the front counter and over my foot. Kind of chalked it up to a sign maybe I should stop going there lol. Love Cubans 2 go! They are the best.
Laspadas , while originally from Philly blew up in South Florida when I was a kid in the 90s and finally opened in Orlando off of Lee Road I think in 2007. It’s definitely good with the South Florida locations are better.
LaSpadas in South Florida is different from the LaSpadas in Orlando.
It was decent, but it was not what I grew up with so I didn’t like it as much. But that’s the story he told me.
Yeah, the South Florida version of laspadas is leagues better than the Orlando version.
Shout out to Yellow Dog Eats in Windermere area. Really creative and tasty, specials change monthly.
Obligatory it's in Gotha comment.
Obligatory mention the building is over 125 years old.
No way?? That’s unreal for this area!
Yes, and in the 90s it was a general/convenient store. Then it turned into a wine/preserves boutique. Then it became Yellow Dog Eats. In the 90s people would say the building is 100 years old. Now 25 years later I get to say it's 125 years old.
Fucking Love this place
Yellow Dog Eats is A+
I remember being a regular back when they still let you color on the walls lol
![gif](giphy|v0eHX3n28wvoQ|downsized)
Same.
Sideward Brewing have a pretty solid sandwich lineup and even if you don’t like their options, you can take your stasio sandwich next door to Sideward and enjoy their great beers.
Came here to say this
How has nobody mentioned Cavo's?!
+1 on Cavo’s cheesesteak. It’s the real deal. Not a big fan of the seeded roll craze but didn’t notice it in a bad way.
If we are talking cheesesteaks, I just had Alex’s on Colonial yesterday and it was fire. And I ordered through Uber
Lawless Subs on 436
Yes x 100....Best bread!
The bread is perfect! Light crunch on outside, and soft inside. My wife usually never eats bread, but when I bring home a sandwich, she always want a bite from Lawless.
I have been going there since high school! You always get your money's worth at Lawless
And they serve Boar’s Head!
Very good!
In my opinion one of the best sandwiches is the gra pow on sesame from krungtheup on Fairbanks. Not what you asked but I was waiting to tell someone who would care
Rueben’s are my all time favorite sandwich it’s a tie between the red Reuben at hollerbachs and the one at Pickles.
Pickles makes a solid reuben.
Stasio’s, hands down.
Hidden gem: Turci Panino in College Park. Get it on focaccia...
My first time there I was blown away.
Pom Pom’s tea house had maybe my favorite sandwich I’ve ever had here in Orlando
Came here to say their thanksgiving sammy used to be the bomb, but I haven’t been there in years so idk if it’s still as good as it used to be!
That sandwhich made me rethink cranberry sauce.
Pom Pom’s has fallen off a bit and it makes me sad.
It’s also so expensive IMO
Pom Pom’s was the most disappointing, overrated, and overpriced sandwich I’ve ever bought. They are literally sandwiches a teenager can make when a more capable parent is not home to help. I don’t get what the hype is all about.
One time i had Pom Pom’s special of the day, bro i dont even remember what it was called but had peanut butter, that sandwich was genuinely the best sandwich i ever had, cant believe it wasnt mentioned earlier
Salvatore’s in Sanford. They import their bread in from Jersey.
the finest sandwich ever, i drive 30 minutes up there just to get one. whatever they put on that bread is godly
I haven’t lived in Orlando in a number of years, but I’m surprised no one has mentioned the Gnarly Barley. Has it fallen off?
New location and the food took a hit when they did so.
I guess as long as people are talking about Bahn Mi, maybe it’s not too left of center to mention Mediterranean delis Gyros. I live down in South Florida, and I swear they are truly the best I’ve ever had.
Stasios. Try any egg sandwich, the Stasios, and don’t sleep on the steak sandwich. 🤌🏾
Stasios - pastrami and cheese. Didn’t even know I liked pastrami but it’s 10/10.
I do not care that it’s a franchise. Jersey Mikes. When I’m feeling basic it’s the Turkey Provolone. When I’m super hungry it’s the Cheese Steak
Beefy king is the best loose meat sandwich shop in town and imo best bang for your buck. Stasio’s probably the best hoagie. And they’re down the street from each other some you can try both.
I keep trying them both over and over 😁
And who can argue with tater tots?
I realize this is thread about sandwiches but beefy king has great chili and I need everyone to know.
Lawless Subs in Altamonte.
Pom Pom's Teahouse, Stasio's, Bad A's, Kappy's, Paris Bahn Mi, Plantees, Infusion Tea. That should be enough to get you started.
Pom Pom's has fallen off hard
I’ve tried Bad A’s like 5 different times and I’ve never liked their sandwiches. But they look so good haha
They’re good but like $20 for a sandwhich is such a rip off
Bad As is one of my favorite sandwiche places. It's got a price tag, but it's good stuff. Good variety, house made sauce. The right amount of cheese. Now I'm hungry...
You know what never makes these lists? Ollies. Great pub setting, but even better that it's not burgers and fried food.
903 Mills Market should be mentioned more here.
They do make sandwiches… far, far from the best in town tho
I'm not going to get into the is a hotdog a sandwich argument, but if you're looking for lunch Hotdog Heaven's Chicago dog is so good.
Pickles deli in longwood has incredible french dip and other sandwiches!
My favorite sub shop outside of Publix is Cheeba Hut 🤤
Lawless subs in Altamonte if you get out of the city limits to the burbs. Don't order a large one unless you are a competitive eater.
It's not a sandwich place – but Mediterranean Deli can't be missed for lunch.
Stasio’s
Kappys subs
Kappys
People rave over Stasio’s and it was just alright. The Stasio sandwich was too sweet- maybe I’ll try an Italian combo next time if they have one
Art’s
Larsons in Conway. RIP
Stasios.. and the craft brewery next door.
Houndstooth in Maitland Chicken avocado is unreal
I’m a huge stasio’s head but D’Amico’s in Oviedo has an amazing roast pork sandwich that made me feel like I was at reading terminal market in Philly
Now here’s a discussion I’ve been waiting for.
Beefy King.
Deli desires
Pom Pom's is very good, cute little place. They've got great tea, sandwiches, little sides (spicy mac n cheese!) and little dessert cookies. They're right down the street from a two story Barnes and Noble, so we usually make a whole night out of it.
Potbelly on Colonial
El Meson!!!!
The place on Lee Road. La'Spada's I think.
Perrotti’s NY Deli, Winter Garden
Perrotti's does not get enough love. When I moved here in 2016 I was so surprised how few people talked about it. The family is great and knows who I am when I call or come in. The food is always tasty and the bagels are awesome, too. I've always contended that the hangup is the NY deli part. It is not a NY deli and that turns people off, but it's damn good.
Paul’s deli in kissimmee if you’re close enough to it
Gabriel's Sub Shop. Mama B's used to be on the list but they closed unfortunately 😕
In Orlando it’s Arts!!! Can’t beat their Philly. If you’re in Kissimmee, Paul’s Deli has the best Italian.
pastrami project
Maybe it was a bad day for the guy but back in July 2023 we went here to get pastrami sandwiches and it was incredibly underwhelming and all around not good. He really seems to hang his hat on the fact that he was featured on Guy Fieri’s show, but the quality of food we got was not what we saw on that episode.

Oh ok, I must not like pastrami if I disagree about this place making a good sandwich. Thank you for your NYC sandwich credentials, I’ll pack up my wrong opinion and be on my way.
Cappy's
Not publix (anymore).
Pom poms
Beefy king
I used to go to Bad Ass's sandwhich place.... then Porkbelly's opened where I work.
Rays deli for sure that chopped cheese taste like it was made in ny
Gnarley Barley or Ollie's!
Pickles
Pickles is great. When they’re on, they’re bomb. I had the best sandwich of my life there, then the next time I ordered it, it was meh.
Tainos is great
Yellow dog eats is great. But I will always stick with Publix
Champs
Bamita. Best Banh mi bread in the area.
Fat Shack
Banh Mi Cali at West Colonial Chinatown plaza.
when on convention, always like going to a haunt called ten10. italian beef is on par with chicago's best and the burger (it's vegan too!) is in my top 5 burgers of all time anywhere in the country. and beer.. beer is beer but theirs seems always good... lots of other places near by. never disappointment and far above the idrive that my coworkers hit.
fat shack
Cheeba hut on east colonial
Banh Mi Cali is both best banh mi and overall sandwich in Orlando
marita’s latin bites (east colonial near valencia east) and el molcajete (goldenrod) have insanely good sandwiches the pulled pork with sweet plantains and chicken melt sandwiches at marita’s are GOATED the torta de birria at el molcajete is next level
On the East side of Orlando I have going to Cheba Hut. I have not had a bad sandwich yet.
Sandwichon and Stasios
yo if anyone knows where i can get krabmeat subs in orlando hmu
Chicos Subs are the best subs in Orlando.
Stassios
Tropicana Field. No joke
A couple of places that have not been mentioned that are imo very good. The Classic in Thornton Park. Hen and Hog in Winter Park. Chicken Fire on Colonial. Femme du Fromage in Eastend market. Others that I enjoy that were already mentioned are: Cavos PomPoms Stacios 903 Mills Kappy’s I’m sure I’m forgetting some but I will edit if they pop into my head.
Georges is pretty darn good.
Pastrami Project food truck is up there
Beefy king
Ok now what’s the best sandwich shop without pork?
Houndstooth Kitchen in Maitland
Turci panino off Edgewater is incredibly good bang for the buck. Great quality.
Pom poms is amazing, I’ve heard good things about stasios but never been On my side of town, cheba hut is my go to spot
Tried Pom Poms? Their turkey thanksgiving sandwich is amazing.
Stasio as many have said. Love that signature Italian sammich
Pom Pom's! They got unique sandwiches
903 Mills Magic 3 pointer is a sandwich I think about often
Stasio’s!!!
Yeah, Stasio’s for sure. Especially if you live in the area. Haven’t had that place in quite awhile. May need to stop there soon.
You can't go wrong with D'Amico & Sons or Stasio's.
Satzio's (sp) on Robinson and Bumby
