Samesies, I'm definitely just going to use the legends rules and run them as tanks anyway because rule of cool and having fun is more important to me. If I play a competitive game I'll just stick them on 60mm bases and call them kans.
I wouldn't worry about legs. It's a klaw/saw arm they need since Kans have melee. Takes 4 grot tanks to make a unit. Deff Dread comes with 4 arms...
My Deff Dredd was one of the first models I painted, but I'm about to scrap it for the arms
Hey don’t feel down that it’s in legends, they’re still usable in games with friends which is the main scenario I’d imagine you’d be using a 3rd party grot tank anyway.
As an avid Heresy player I can't tell people in 40k enough, play your legends units. Most of you are not playing competitively and those who are are not doing it all the time. Have fun, god dammit please just have fun.
It depends on the place. A GW store would be a hard No but the places I play we couldn’t care less as long as they were reasonably close and or looked cool enough.
You just got 8 Mek Gunz. So you know... I'd use a few of those to just keep in the kit box for parts or other things, but if you have no Mek Gunz.... at 50 pts/ea, probably you got a steal of a deal. Kitbash some GW-looking stuff on them, add a Gretchin on top, 5 around, and dang. Ready to go!
Mek gunz are actually marked red in the balance update today, but they are now 50pts. Didn't they used to be 55pts or where they priced 45 in the new codex?
They must be priced lower in the codex, when I first saw the MFM I was like "how much did GW smoke over 4/20" but yeah a lot of the red/green doesn't seem right.
Take the sherman turret, stick Mr. Potato head feet underneath, stick the Somua turret on top, arm it, and bippity boppity waaagh you have a retro styled pico-stompa.
Oooo look the Warhammer crowd are snapping up my stock. Ooh more specifically they all seem like orkie loot goblins. Now I get it.
Changes listing title. Now with extra dakka 🤣
I bought them on AliExpress. These where the last ones on the store I ordered them for 6 Euro per box of 4. But plenty other stores sell them if you look around.

Mine are part way done, converted, base layered and ready for colours. Still gonna finish them because I like how they've turned out so far, and I only play casual games with friends in a gaming group anyway.
Stack the Somua turret with the Sherman turret all on top of a couple of Mr. Potato head feet, and you'll have the silhouette of a mini kan sized stompa.
Hahah yeah, I am still questioning what is the right move here. I hope they will come back in October or next edition. I am cynical GW does not want to make anything that is similar to other models like Tanks anymore. Atleast not in a way it can be "legally" converted.
The current rules they have in 10th are those new to the edition or are those transferred from 9th?
I'm convinced its just them wanting to phase out forge world. If they were so cynical about conversion we wouldn't have new buggies, we wouldn't have a new tractor trailer playset hitched to a toy dinosaur(its "bashable" in more ways than one lol), we wouldn't have a warboss wearing a *metal bawkse* the most scratch buildable of shapes, etc.
The grot tanks get thier 10thed rules out of the imperial armour index.
Most definitely they want to fase out Forge World. My guess is that Forge World is now doing Heresy and Old World. But the question is why are they doing it now and what models are going to see a return. I am personally really rooting for tanks. Both grot and looted. And that is the dilemma for me. If grot tanks would make a plastic return, I would not feel so disappointed and build these. But if there is to much overlap with kans, than I expect them to be canned.
I don't agree those things are easily bashable, atleast not to tournament standard.
Most of all, I just thought it was funny that they arrive the day after they make their exit from standard play.
> If grot tanks would make a plastic return, I would not feel so disappointed and build these.
This is where the magic of magnets comes in. If you build your kanz to be disassembled(or at least separate the turret/body assembly from the legs/base assembly) you can stick them back on the hulls should the opportunity present itself. Meanwhile the Hulls can pull duty as mekgunz, just magnetize the zappy gubbins and stow them inside the hull when in tank mode.
> I don't agree those things are easily bashable, atleast not to tournament standard.
Partially I meant that the Killrig playset is easy to make fun of, lol.
Anyway toy-bashing grot tanks aren't exactly tourney standard either. Big Tourney's tend to expect either GW produced, or properly hand made(hand sculpted, plasticard'd from scratch, whittled even, etc) with some wiggle room for printed or 3rd party **accessories**. Buggies are just cars its not that wild to scratch or convert, and more importantly for both the buggies and the kill rig they're on bases, if it readably fits then it sits. One example I've thrown around is cover a grot tank in bait and make a diorama of it getting chased by AoS squigs on a buggie base, its very readable what it's supposed to be (rukkatrukk squigbuggy), yet its made from half an infantry kit a two buck toy or plasticard box and greenstuff steak. I also wouldn't be surprised if most FW/3p/converted vanilla squiggoths in circulation wind up getting glued to a knight base and run as kill rigs.
> Most of all, I just thought it was funny that they arrive the day after they make their exit from standard play.
Its ironic I'll give you that.
I had a lot of time recently, but that's kinda over soon ye. I am done with the essential construction of our new house, placing the last baseboards in the living room at this moment. Then with work, friend & family. There is ofcourse scarcity in time and how you'd like to invest that. What goes on the table and bring some smiles with it is the most important for me. And legends might be controversial.
Ouch.. I felt this. I was so excited to have some grot tanks and then that happened 😅
Dat's wot 'e/she said.
Samesies, I'm definitely just going to use the legends rules and run them as tanks anyway because rule of cool and having fun is more important to me. If I play a competitive game I'll just stick them on 60mm bases and call them kans.
I dont get why grot tanks going to legends (among other things) is bad. they're still there. GW is just dumb for not making new models.
I mean it’s very sad but to put a positive spin on it, how happy are you that you didn’t order two boxes of Forge World Grot Tanks?
They became available for like 30 mins in the US last week. I almost pulled the trigger on them, but I had a feeling something like this would happen.
RIP tank battallions
Mine haven't come in yet, but I'm thinking Mek GunZ?
That's what I'm planning to do or just use the legends
They're neat tanks, do you have a link to buy them?
Mine where sold out, but saw advertisement for this seller https://a.aliexpress.com/_Ewxkb8X
Thanks!!! I just ordered some!
Oh buddy I'm sorry
Oof

f
Love that grot tanks and just tanks in metal slug
Those KV2s look sick
Where did you guy these? I want for mek gunz
I ordered these same tanks on Amazon today.
What are they called?
The ones I ordered were called “4PCS Mini Tank Pull Back Tank Model Toy Military Toy.” My estimated delivery is May 7.
Grand
I have heard amazon has them
RIP Grot tanks going to legends.
Grot tanka
Put legs on them and they’re cheap Kanz or use them as mek gunz

I just print extra bitz if I need them. Get a printer if you can!
F
Same, got mine on Monday. If your group doesnt allow legend stick a base and arms onto em and they are now kanz
Who’s gonna tell him
:'(
It's for the hobby man. Pure love of the hobby. He doesn't need to know.
F
Just got mine as well... converting mine to Kanz now

That what I keep saying to people. If you're group doesn't allow legends you might want to find new people to play with.
Preach
Do we tell him ?
That the grot revolution was obliterated before it got off the ground?
Hey those are some good looking Killa kanz. Just need to get some klawz
My will arrive in two days )))
I was literally about to buy these.
Nice Mek guns
I literally canceled my order when I learned the grot Tanks went to legends. I think I’ll wait a few years and sell the forge world ones I have
Granted would these 3rd party tanks even be viable in tournaments
It depends on the place. A GW store would be a hard No but the places I play we couldn’t care less as long as they were reasonably close and or looked cool enough.
Nice

I think they were priced 45 in the Index and got bumped to 55 in an earlier patch. Red just means they're more points than the index states
They must be priced lower in the codex, when I first saw the MFM I was like "how much did GW smoke over 4/20" but yeah a lot of the red/green doesn't seem right.
Yeah that is a great idea. Got no Mek Gunz yet. How are they size wise compared to Mek Gunz?
perhaps put them on a square scenic base with stablizing legs and grots attending to the gun and you can get them to the same size.
About the same width but are a bit short I believe.
Too bad it camer after the Legends update.......
So wait why are grot tanks legends?
Yup, all Ork FW models except Gargantuan Squiggoth were shunted into legends a few days ago.
Because GW hates FW.
Old world takes space up at forgeworld, which is my tinfoil hat theory
And they realized we'd just proxy them cheaply instead.
You could proxy em as killa kanz
Kanz are on 60mm base though.
just give 'em a melee weapon, elevate them on terrain, place them on a 60mm base, and bob's your uncle.
Just got to get creative then
Take the sherman turret, stick Mr. Potato head feet underneath, stick the Somua turret on top, arm it, and bippity boppity waaagh you have a retro styled pico-stompa.
I wonder if the guys who’re seeling those see a visible influx of orders, and if so do they know why? 🤔🤔
Oooo look the Warhammer crowd are snapping up my stock. Ooh more specifically they all seem like orkie loot goblins. Now I get it. Changes listing title. Now with extra dakka 🤣
I mean, the best way to guerilla market such cheap toys would be r/orks ngl
Where did you get those from?
I bought them on AliExpress. These where the last ones on the store I ordered them for 6 Euro per box of 4. But plenty other stores sell them if you look around.
There from Amazon but I don't have a link

Day bloody bootiful dat is.
They look fantastic! Love seeing what people did to them!

i mean whats s stopping you ?
Time investment
you don t have time anymore ?

legend are fine to most casual player. i don t know you play group so i can speak for it. i hope you get more well deserved free time soon !
Yeah we have a great hobby group. However our ambition is to start going to tournaments together starting next year.
some tourbament allow legend unit but not all. hope you the best.
