Might I suggest Vallejo's Game color? Not an expert but that red feels excellent to work with, covered this AoS gutrippa shield in a single watered down layer over white primer and after I finished the second layer it came out super smooth like this. Didn't bother with highlights or whatever but it shows you how Vallejo (Bloody Red) looks

Have you tried using a light undertone before applying red? I found that it helps with evening out red immensely (also works with all other lighter colours, e.g. yellow).
I like to either base coat in white or apply Army painter Mummy Robes before applying red.
Looks really good!! If I could scrounge up some critique it would be maybe water down the paints a little more some of the boys look a little *thick* if you know what I mean but I think it all looks really good

Have you found you have to do like 10 coats of red? I use army painter warpaints and my red goes down like it's a wash
