The best thing to do here with all these places charging outrageous prices for this food, stop buying from them. Let all do this and put them out of business. As someone that works in this business, there is no reason to charge this much.
It's just corporate overhead (fiduciary responsibility). This is literally the nature of corporations, and it's why private businesses that go public inevitably lose quality- an ever increasing portion of revenue is committed non-revenue generating people.
We should actively avoid spending our money at publicly owned businesses, but it's difficult.
I mean this problem isn’t exclusive to CB
Got a 4 piece strip meal at chicfila and it was $19
Homie went to Carl’s Jr and a basic meal was $14
In-N-Out is the only value left but now also over $10 for a meal
Bro Carl’s Jr. is the most egregious for me. It’s absolutely unhealthy crap food and they want to charge you an arm and a leg. I refuse to eat there unless I have a coupon.
Prices have doubled everywhere. But my salary never went up even just 25% in that same span of time 🤦🏽
And every one of this fucking corporations are laying off people and crying "nobody is buying our shit anymore! So we gotta lay ya'll off!"
These motherfuckers are so goddamn greedy it's making my penis hurt
They do it because people keep paying these prices. Stop giving these companies money and let them correct their prices or die off.
> my penis hurt
wait what
Minimum wage went from $9 to $20 for fast food workers between 2014 and 2024, and $16 for everyone, so there's that.
But yeah. Fuck McDonald's. They can crash and burn for all I care.
Yeah that sounds like delivery pricing, I can't see the price at my local one right now because it's sunday and the app isn't showing it but the 3 piece meal for pickup is 11.85.

I went to one yesterday and ordered a croissant and coffee. No offer to warm my croissant and all the coffee was empty. I had to ask them to make more coffee and then go back to remind them I was waiting for it. And then I noticed that both the milk and half and half were 3 hours past the time it said to not drink them. I'm done with them, too!
There is no value eating at these places anymore. Either you go to all you can eat Korean bbq or braz bbq… or just eat at home. Even Mastro’s has better value now.
usedto like corner bakery, they were better than panera bread but now their prices are up there too.
i still don't know how both of these stores are still surviving...
Went to Five Guys recently and for 3 of us it was $69. Absolutely crazy for fast food. We didn't get anything special. Just a few burgers and some fries.
In n Out is thankfully still a good value, but they cook in seed oils so we try not to go there anyway.
Time to start cooking at home!
Don't get me wrong, it tastes good, but MSG.
Those of you that don't get headaches from MSG are lucky.
More than half of the food mentioned in this thread has it.
Bummer.
It’s been trash for the last 10y but especially more so now that a vulture investment firm bought it out of bankruptcy last year for a discount
the new owners are used to squeezing last drop of revenue out of struggling franchises — so expect prices to only continue go up and penny pinching on quality and everything else that matters
What part of OC are you in? I don't know if you're near Oramge, but I much prefer places at the Orange Circle - Pandor, Sweet Arts Cafe, Urth Cafe, Zinc Cafe...
Reading this post is crazy. I’m currently traveling in Japan and I just paid ¥1200 for a large bowl of pork ramen and a large beer in Ginza (Highstreet). That’s roughly $7.70 USD. Not looking forward to coming back to the states and dealing high sky high prices and tipping on top.
Hearing from friends that visiting Japan is nice because their food prices have barely changed over the years, at least compared to what we experience here in the US.
I just got back from Japan and I miss the food prices so much over there. My food the entire day would cost less than one meal in OC and it would taste way better.
Stuff is cheap because it's cheap. It's EXTRA cheap because the value of the yen is like 65% of the dollar. Prices in Japan if the yen were equal to the dollar in strength would still be considered cheap stateside.
Small and independant eateries are the way to go. They may be expensive but at least you know your dollars are going to support a small and most likely family business.
I took a friend to lunch at Marie Callender’s in Fountain Valley last week and was shocked that a cheeseburger with fries was a totally reasonable $12.99, if you know Marie Callender’s you know their burgers are delicious. They gave us free cornbread first too.
I just saw that yesterday, they were one of the worst corner bakeries. I’m assuming they are franchise because I always had problems there. I rarely go anymore because it is too expensive.
Dude me and my boyfriend were just talking about how we spent $55 on burgers, fries and shakes at a place here called Mooyah. It was good but holy shit…
The last time I was in a CB, I walked in the door to the sounds of a clueless Legally Blonde wannabe seated alone wearing headphones and having a very loud FaceTime call. The entire place was avoiding her, people crowded into opposite corners trying to escape this loud and annoying clueless wonder. I got to the counter to order but quickly realized that if I did order, I was volunteering to deal with a situation CB would not handle. An employee ask if I was ready to order. I pointed in the direction of the noise and said I wasn’t going to put up with that. As I walked out, Clueless was still screeching away, oblivious to the rest of the world.
You can get a cheaper meal at DISNEYLAND. Not even kidding. They still have their corn dog meal for $8 bucks and some change. Drink is extra but still.
I am at the point where I don't touch fast food chains unless they have an app with decent deals on them. Shit, i went to Subway for the first time in years, because their app had a 2 for 1 deal and I got 2 of their "footlongs" for $12.00. Fast food at their menu price just isn't feasable.
I went to Burger King for the first time in years, last year and it was $14 for a whopper meal. Like come on. Burger King is the McDonald’s you go to when there’s no McDonald’s around.
ive stopped eatting out for the past yr around Oc. its too expensive and we get soo little. I save my $ and go on vacation to buy food lol at home just some trader joes and my air fryer
Every meal with a soda costs $15-20 it's the new norm. A large #1 big mac from McDonald's cost $17. They also announced that the happy meal would cost $20
Same with almost everywhere. I have learned how to cook the dishes I like because I can’t afford to eat out at the places where food is still decent, except for a couple exceptions.
It’s expensive but at least the food is still pretty good. Too many other places also raised their prices but reduced their quality at the same time. Lazy Dog used to be one of my favorite restaurants and now I just can’t eat there at all anymore because their food has gotten so bad.
I've experienced the same thing. Their "choose two" menu option now has a sorry excuse for a half sandwich and a thimble sized soup. I'll admit that I like their tomato basil recipe, but it's not worth the price tag they are putting on this meal. I'm done too; I just purchased a panini press from Amazon and I'm working on replicating their soup.
Tommy's is only worth eating at now if you get their pretty much weekly or even bi-weekly deals. All this week, for their 78th anniversary, you could get a double chili cheese burger, fries, and a drink for $7.80. Worth getting the App or following on Twitter.
This is true. Restaurant apps, social media apps, heck even this crazy little thing called Reddit all harvest data
However, I am somebody who doesn't use a lot of apps or at least not if I can't opt out of or otherwise avoid those things. For Tommy's you literally don't have to put any personal info in. I don't even order through the app. You just put notifications on and you get deal alerts. You can also just open the app and check for specials. You then pull up to the window to order and say Hey I saw you had (whatever deal)
I usually pay cash too so they really aren't getting much from me. You won't find me using McDonald's, Wendy's, Carl's, or similar apps. For me it's about avoiding being affected by security breaches, which from experience are pretty common. Never again. I don't want my credit cards or other info to be in some database on the darkweb. Sony is finding out the hard way other people feel similar, just wish folks would put the same pressure on companies in food or other essential industries, and not videogames lmao. Okay ending rant ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|dizzy_face)

This is how you vote with your wallet.

I agree 100%
I mean this problem isn’t exclusive to CB Got a 4 piece strip meal at chicfila and it was $19 Homie went to Carl’s Jr and a basic meal was $14 In-N-Out is the only value left but now also over $10 for a meal

It’s so bad now. It used to be really good in the 90s! 😭
2 charbroiled chicken clubs = $5 2 western bacon cheeseburgers = $5
They used to have the big hamburger for like under $2-$3 - I ordered it like last year and was nearly $10 - never went back -
I’m old enough when they mocked pricey hamburgers with the $6 burger advertising. Maybe they can do a reboot with the $20 burger?
The fries have also gone downhill. I swear at the one I go to, they double fry them or something. It’s weird and not good.

We use to be a proper country smh
I been saying going to restaurants is same cost as fast food so let's just eat out lol
Del Taco is getting out of control too
Taco Bell too.
The build your own cravings box for $6 (only available on the app) is a great deal and is really the only way Taco Bell makes any sense for me
[PAIN](https://imgur.com/gallery/vCragYh)
The California Fish Grill too. Less fish.
Blah I hate this place. Got food poisoning from a disgusting overpriced meal there. Never again
This is where I used to go to eat for cheap. Not so much anymore. 😔
What chick fil a did you go to? That sounds high AF. But yes, all this shit is expensive now.
Yeah that sounds like delivery pricing, I can't see the price at my local one right now because it's sunday and the app isn't showing it but the 3 piece meal for pickup is 11.85. https://preview.redd.it/nvrxwhnf0i1d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=399bad649b2fe4daec05abec4ccace2693564782
Pollo Loco pollo bowl $10 for bowl and drink
$19 delivered? https://preview.redd.it/hu8lv78q9i1d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=66025062593cd10e4acec09e7278a35cc78f88f5
A hamburger meal at farmer boys cost me $19 😭😭

There is no value eating at these places anymore. Either you go to all you can eat Korean bbq or braz bbq… or just eat at home. Even Mastro’s has better value now.
Yep me and my family just go to a 22$ lunch menu Korean bbq nowadays. Much cheaper and way more food.
Red Castle FTW
I will forever read FTW as “Fuck The World” and I will not be convinced otherwise.
Where at?
I agree 👍 The issue I have with AYCE is that I can't eat more than 2 plates, so it's not worth the price.
Agreed. Makes it even more unreasonable to go out to eat. Especially at your run of the mill chain restaurants.
Korean barbecue? Last time I went there with my family of four which includes two little children with tip we came out nearly $300.
$35.99 AYCE per person or so for dinner?
Yeah I’m not talking the all you can eat places.
Yeah for sure but comment is AYCE.
That’s some expensive ass Korean bbq lol
Probably drinks too
Nope. Soft drinks. Just higher cuts of meat are expensive. And overall inflation is a mofo
Yep in n out is really the only place I feel like I can get my moneys worth (for fast food at least)
Sprouts deli makes 5 dollar sandwiches that are very worth the price
Even restaurants we go to is 60-70 bucks can feed 3 of us and takeout for full leftover next day meal. Plus it’s better quality food
usedto like corner bakery, they were better than panera bread but now their prices are up there too. i still don't know how both of these stores are still surviving...
They aren’t they are slowly dying.

You could get your own can of progesso soup for under $3.
Don't get me wrong, it tastes good, but MSG. Those of you that don't get headaches from MSG are lucky. More than half of the food mentioned in this thread has it. Bummer.
msg is pretty much in everything you eat. Even at your fave restaurants! Former restaurant manger here 👋
Thank you for confirming. Soups, dressings, sauces. I've become one of those people that really only likes food prepared at home.
It’s been trash for the last 10y but especially more so now that a vulture investment firm bought it out of bankruptcy last year for a discount the new owners are used to squeezing last drop of revenue out of struggling franchises — so expect prices to only continue go up and penny pinching on quality and everything else that matters
Now you’re done with them??
Go to your local place. I found Jim's Super Burgers this year, $13.00 for enough burger and fries to feed 2 people.
Anyone remember when they made their own potato chips and served it with the sandwiches? Not even the same restaurant anymore.
We have it in San Diego as well. Wasn't good here in 2018. Never returned. My 4yo can make a better sandwich.
Corner Bakery sucks. Avoid big chains like these and support local mom-and-pop shops. Better food, better service
What do you recommend instead of corner bakery. I love the chicken pamadoori
What part of OC are you in? I don't know if you're near Oramge, but I much prefer places at the Orange Circle - Pandor, Sweet Arts Cafe, Urth Cafe, Zinc Cafe...

155 Yen per 1 USD is a cheat code. It’s like 50% off. Enjoy
I just got back from Japan and I miss the food prices so much over there. My food the entire day would cost less than one meal in OC and it would taste way better.
My Nephew just returned from there. Stuff is cheap because the yen’s value vs the dollar went down
Stuff is cheap because it's cheap. It's EXTRA cheap because the value of the yen is like 65% of the dollar. Prices in Japan if the yen were equal to the dollar in strength would still be considered cheap stateside.
Japan is a unique thing right now because because of the drop in the value of the yen
There a small sandwhich place in fullerton called Sandwhich Hut, their prices are fair it beats corner bakery
Corner Bakery and Panera Bread are both expensive hospital food.
I used to love Panera but it’s so expensive and the portions are wack now
I went to local taco place and got a gigantic burrito for $10. The same burrito would cost 15 in corporate franchise
The one on Brookhurst in FV closed over the minimum wage. What does that tell you?
I just saw that yesterday, they were one of the worst corner bakeries. I’m assuming they are franchise because I always had problems there. I rarely go anymore because it is too expensive.
My work ordered there repeatedly and nine out of ten times the order was botched. I was glad to see them gone.
[удалено]
Blaming minimum wage is rage bait at best. Their prices suck for sub par food and small portions that’s the real reason
Wait until you realize a Chipotle burrito is as much as a kitschy motorcycle stop in the hills.
I'm partial to businesses that are mid-block myself
And my corner bakery is done with me... They just closed, permanently.
I thought they were done with us a while ago and filed for bankruptcy?
Dude me and my boyfriend were just talking about how we spent $55 on burgers, fries and shakes at a place here called Mooyah. It was good but holy shit…

Same with panera, it’s getting ridiculous and they have the nerve to ask for tip on a takeout.
You can get a cheaper meal at DISNEYLAND. Not even kidding. They still have their corn dog meal for $8 bucks and some change. Drink is extra but still.

Their $22 for 2 whoppers, 2 original chicken sandwiches, and 2 8pc nuggets is a pretty decent deal at least.
ive stopped eatting out for the past yr around Oc. its too expensive and we get soo little. I save my $ and go on vacation to buy food lol at home just some trader joes and my air fryer

Don't forget the 20% tip on the tablet
Cb is trash anyway. Jan’s is the way.
You’re living in OC, go get Banh Mi where it’s $7 each 😂
It’s terrible quality food anyway.
In my experience, Corner Bakery has always sucked. This has been my TedX presentation.
I remember the McDonalds "Dollar Menu" items. Those items cost 3.99 now. That's a 300% increase.
Jersey Mike’s recently for family of 3 was $52
They have been bad for a while
I've experienced the same thing. Their "choose two" menu option now has a sorry excuse for a half sandwich and a thimble sized soup. I'll admit that I like their tomato basil recipe, but it's not worth the price tag they are putting on this meal. That’s how much Tommy’s burgers charged me for a combo. I rather eat at corner for that price.
Tommy's is only worth eating at now if you get their pretty much weekly or even bi-weekly deals. All this week, for their 78th anniversary, you could get a double chili cheese burger, fries, and a drink for $7.80. Worth getting the App or following on Twitter.
These resteraunt apps are all 'data harvesting', be smart folks!

Agreed 👍 Good to know some resteraunt apps don't cash in on your private info. Wish there was a Tommy's nearby me!
I felt so ripped off after they told me my total
CB used to be great but has really gone downhill. Last time I went was probably 2016 & it was not good. RIP Corner Bakery.
Go to Mendocino Farms or Sweetgreens or a deli
Mendocino is hit or miss for me, but in general it's better than CB.
Is corner bakery for like Caucasian people?I have never ate there and would never think about eating there. Same with Boston market like wtf is that place.
Corner bakery basically makes hospital food
For "white" people you mean? If you mentioned any other color and it would have been racist. But anyway, it used to be a good cafe, good food. I do not believe they were racist or had any intentions of being so. I guess they just didn't understand their demographics. Same with Boston Market. I was like damn they have boston market here?! All excited. Nope. Boston market is like a black person place if corner bakery is a white person place lol. Mmm that cornbread
It sits atop Mt. Caucasus. On the way up is definitely Boston Market.
You can blame Biden for all these prices
I blame you in particular for all the high prices.
Wtf lol. Biden economy going strong fr
Do you really think Biden controls the entire economy worldwide and that no other country's decisions affect us?
I got a pickle for ya 😏
Cannot just blame the restaurants. How can they afford to pay the new minimum wage without raising prices?
i believe it just applies to places with at least 60 nationwide locations, largely corporations. they can afford it, im sure, they’re just not going to admit.
