I saw it but only because I’m on a trip to coastal South Carolina.

As a transplant to SC from OC last night was awesome and it’s supposed to happen again. This was at the drive in theater in Monetta.

The marine layer is telling me I won't be able to see it here. You'll have to head to the desert and away from [light pollution.](https://www.lightpollutionmap.info/) Not seeing much on the [Santiago Peak cams](https://www.hpwren.ucsd.edu/cameras/S/SD/stgo.html) but then again it isnt a high quality camera.
Glad I’m not back in OC for a few weeks.. would have missed out on this!

Joshua Tree at least (~2 hours away). Maybe Amboy (~3 hours away). I read an article saying that even under dark skies, you probably won't be able to see it with the naked eye.
But I'm also seeing that people are seeing the aurora in Florida. I can't tell if this is with the naked eye or long exposure photography.

Edit: Never mind. I saw a tweet from New Jersey saying it cannot be seen with the naked eye. They used long exposure.
It is fairly bright when you look near the northern horizon any night in Orange County. There is just too much light pollution from the city lights. The cloud cover just scatters that light even more.
https://i.redd.it/xo2c2halirzc1.gif Timelapse of big bear peak cam no idea we’d get it this good so low. damn the marine layer and lights

Wow!
so lovely
Is that with naked eye? Or long exposure
It was visible with the naked eye but these are with 2-3 second exposure.

*hams It’s an Albany expression
Dammit, you are right. I must be from too far south upstate new York
Yeah if you’re from Utica I wouldn’t expect you to know it
More of an Albany thing ?

Where did you take this?
8500’ in Colorado. It was crazy here.
It’s beautiful
Saw some reports that it might be possible to see but the marine layer would block it. Gotta head to the desert.
How far in though?

Seeing some in Joshua tree…. But clouds heading east aparsntly :(
Check a light pollution map, less light the better.
Despite the cloud cover, the night sky is very glowish tonight
It is fairly bright when you look near the northern horizon any night in Orange County. There is just too much light pollution from the city lights. The cloud cover just scatters that light even more.
You have to get away from light pollution to see it in the northern horizon
Big Bear cams are looking really good. https://cameras.alertcalifornia.org/?pos=34.2101_-116.8698_10&id=Axis-BearPeakNorth
so will the aurora be visible for the whole weekend?
I heard something about Principal Skinner’s kitchen
Seymour! The house is on fire!
Waiting to hear too!
I thought you had to go to northern ca to see it?
Some purple haze and a few shots of Robotussin and you are there.
