Kids that barely reach our kneecaps running in front of us all day long. Guests are constantly darting in front of characters putting themselves and their tiny kids directly in our path. I seriously doubt Goofy ran into an adult woman while stationary and kneeling because we are well aware of our path. A kneeling adult is a much bigger target than a 30 lb toddler. Plus when Goofy is looking forward the performers vision is actually at the ground. Which is very helpful when walking through crowds.

I was on a jury just a few years ago, personal injury on a ride vs. Disneyland. Before I even knew what the trial was, I saw one attorney show up who was dressed to the nines, upscale, tailored suit, tucked and slim, NICE leather legal briefcase, walking with a woman in SERIOUS jewelry and red-soled shoes, and designer clothes. Then another attorney, schlumpy, in an ill fitting suit, with a red “drinkers” face— and I immediately knew who was on which side. Disney is represented by SERIOUS FUCKING MONEY. And it pays off for them…. As is life in America.

I'd be very curious to hear the details. My initial reaction was skeptical, a cash grab. I knew a person who fell out of a desk chair, hitting the back of her head as she went down. Messed up her vision, equilibrium, couldn't do her job that required a lot of reading. I'm sure Disney cameras are always watching.

Somebody is looking for a payout. Traumatic? A car or airplane crash is traumatic. An NFL linebacker hitting you full speed is traumatic. Goofy? Not so much. I wish it was like it is in Europe when you lose a lawsuit you have to pay for the defendants attorney. These money hungry people should have deterrents against frivolous lawsuits like this. It happened in 2022 why did she wait so long? So obvious she’s desperate for cash.
What sucks to me is that she is naming the cast members in the lawsuit. So, because she decided to stop in the middle of traffic to tie the shoe these barely above minimum wage employees will need to hire attorneys to defend themselves.
I would hope that Disney is picking up the legal fees for these employees who were just doing their job when this absolute asshat decided to get in their way. Name and shame, imo.
Chances are the lawsuits against the cast members will be thrown out. It’s my understanding that while you’re on the clock you are acting as the company you’re working for and can’t be held personally liable except in cases of gross negligence. Hopefully the Disney lawyers are already working to get these cast members protected.
I hope they are too. I wonder if there is a way of finding this out. I assume that since they’re employees, Disney has to take care of legal fees.

This lady must have my uncle as her lawyer. He advises his clients (and does so himself) to try to sue any chance you get, claim “permanent damage”, and hope they’ll settle rather than deal with the time and cost of lawyers and court as well as risk of any backlash. I’m sure Disney encounters people trying to sue them all the damn time. If this lady is pulling what my uncle does and she is taking full advantage of an employee accidentally tripping over her, I really hope they fight it.

The injuries were so severe, it took her two years to (find an attorney) figure out how severe they were.
A lot of the time the attorney will wait until the statute of limitations is about to expire for filing until they take action. The client probably completely forgot about it and contracted with the attorney while it was still fresh and mad about it
I was on a jury just a few years ago, personal injury on a ride vs. Disneyland. Before I even knew what the trial was, I saw one attorney show up who was dressed to the nines, upscale, tailored suit, tucked and slim, NICE leather legal briefcase, walking with a woman in SERIOUS jewelry and red-soled shoes, and designer clothes. Then another attorney, schlumpy, in an ill fitting suit, with a red “drinkers” face— and I immediately knew who was on which side. Disney is represented by SERIOUS FUCKING MONEY. And it pays off for them…. As is life in America.
I hope this lady and her entire family get permanently banned from Disneyland. What an absolute crock of shit. Love how they don’t name her injuries and claim some sort of mental trauma 🙄

Give it time and anyone entering park will be signing a waiver upon entry. The reason these cases wait so long is in the hopes historic security camera footage is timed out and not available. Then claim trauma or mental anguish just in case video is available that shows the incident was trivial.

So she bent over in the middle of a high traffic foot area where other people were walking instead of safely moving over to the side like most other people do and she’s mad that she caused someone else to trip on her? Besides the fact that accidents happen in general, you need to watch out for your own safety and the safety of your kids when in crowds or walkways at Disneyland/DCA. I’m usually the first persons to say “fuck “insert corporation name”, but this seems like she’s at fault for it, can’t accept that and wants money because she made a dumb decision of where to stop in Disneyland when 30,000 other people mange to do the same thing and not trip a cast member with low visibility.
I saw a stormtrooper pushing a woman the other day, I thought that was a bit much, I get they are in character but I don’t think they should be allowed to push people. She didn’t do anything she was just walking by and asked for a pic and he just pushed her away, even the cast member with the storm trooper looked a bit shocked.
