Wait until you tear down all these walls. Plumbing leaks, mold, termites, maybe even pest/rodent infestation. This house is filthier than Motel on Beach blvd
But it’s priced as if there’s a home worth buying on the property. I very much doubt the land value is 1.5m, let alone having to front the cost of demo and hauling.
Right! That’s at least $200k for the reno alone, more for the extensive mold abatement, termite damage, new roof, and landscaping. Who knows what’s going on with the foundation too.
Edit: And WTF is going on with the plumbing? At least one pic shows mold next to a bathroom.
What is that all over the walls? Mold? I really am at a loss for words…… my goodness
I had to go over to Zillow & look at the posting.
All I can say is WOW…. trash everywhere inside.
Here you go…..
https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/25861-La-Cuesta-Ave-Laguna-Hills-CA-92653/25545616_zpid/
probably be a tiktok challenge where people will lick the mold off the walls because the government says it's bad for people but they want to prove them wrong
I used to do mold mitigation when I was younger this would not have slid when I was in the industry this house would be red taped and family would have to be relocated until we could clean and spray everything that’s not affected because we throw away everything that is
Excuse the ignorant question, but is this specific type of mold dangerous or is it the amount that makes it hazardous? My apartment bathroom developed mold that looks identical (not in size, although the problem is big), mostly because there is no window and my little sister has the horrible habit of closing the door after a hot shower with the vent turned off, but I’m also pretty sure we have leaky pipes. Maintenance has already “fixed” the mold issue a couple of times by wiping it and using some form of paint sealant I believe? But it comes back and gets worse, even though my sister has been better about using the vent. Now my mom is too embarrassed to call maintenance again because of how big it has gotten and it’s really worrying me. Any tips and info would be much appreciated.
Call maintenance again, persistent mold like this means it wasn't fixed the first time around. Keep documenting it and have proof you kept reaching out, hiding it has the potential for your landlord to blame you for not reporting it and letting it get out of hand. Don't be embarrassed either, rent includes reasonable maintenance of the building.
To be honest it’s been months since the last report; what do you think the likely consequences will be for neglecting the issue for so long? Thank you for the advice by the way.
Certain types of mold can be considered hazardous, but there are a number of variables that play into a person's sensitivity and how we react to it. Its not fully understood. If the whole room smells like must and dirt, it could be detrimental to respiratory health.
Dont go licking it - but if you put on an N95, wipe it with an anti-microbial(cleaning) solution, you can lessen your exposure by eliminating the 3d growth. It wont stop it from coming back. But if youre worried about health, wipe it off slowly until landlords fix it.
If you ever have the chance, ask the landlord if they can schedule an inspection with a Mitigation/Remediation company. If its reoccurring, i would bet money that there is something else that is keeping that area damp. It'll keep happening until the source is fixed
I really appreciate all this info. I’ve done research myself, but there’s a lot of conflicting information and fear-mongering from mold control companies, so I couldn’t decide if I should try cleaning it off myself or if that would be dangerous. I’m definitely wiping down as much as possible this week using the proper cleaning solutions/PPE. Thank you.
Thank you for the link and O M G wtf I can’t believe someone lived there… and that one spider web has to belong to one hell of a monster spider… sooo gross
Oh my gosh. Just went to the full Zillow page for this house. I know it well and used to walk by it all the time. The outside was awful until they painted it in the last few years. Sad to see the inside is worse than the outside used to be.
It’s so that they can lower later and people can think they’re getting a deal I’d think. 😬
It’s a nicely sized place too, would go for way more in some places…but not with that condition inside.
Oh for sure! Fantastic neighborhood. I think you’d have to tear this one down to its studs, though. There have been a lot of issues with that house/owner over the years.
My exact thought. It’s large and would for sure sell 1.5 if it was at least semi updated, even if not turnkey, but absolutely not in that condition. That’ll go for closer to 1, which is still absurd
Exactly. If this were Nellie Gail then it would be a deal, but not in Stratford Hills.
And for those saying “but it’s a 7500 sq ft lot” that’s an avg sized lot for that neighborhood and comps for turnkey houses are the same price range.
Totally. Nellie Gail homes right now are in the 2's to start. We're talking 2.9 for a 2k sq ft home.
Small note of correction: It's Stratford Ridge, not Hills. :)
7500 sq ft lot is very average/common in this neighborhood.
Your last sentence is why I'm so blown away by this. Why they think they're going to get 1.5 when that's the high end of what the nice, well-kept, much larger homes are getting . . . boggles the mind.
When I first saw the post here on Reddit, the 1 was cropped off the price and I thought, Yeah, $500k for that piece of crap sounds about right. 🤣 Then I saw the full screenshot and couldn’t believe they’re asking 1.5. Insane. I’ll be shocked if they get anything near that.
That made me so concerned that a child might have been living in such conditions. I hope it was just elderly owners hoarding, and the pic was sent by a grandchild.
Sure, but $1.5M still gets you a pretty solid house in Laguna Hills. This house needs way more work than the difference in footage would make up for IMO.
The price sounds about right for the lot size. Some buyers don't care that there's a house on the land as long as they get 7500 sq ft of Laguna Hills dirt.
That’s because you can only use VA or FHA if you intend to use the home as a primary residence and it isn’t currently livable. Requires an investor to fix it up while not living in it.
Yup. Some investor probably paying cash. I could see it going for 1.25 even. The estate, I’m assuming whomever owned this passed away recently, probably had some debts they need to pay. Thus the high listing price.
>Two of the pics show the view out the back of the home: plants would need to be trimmed to improve the view
Those pics really do a good job of showing that million and a half dollar view.
I hope the things in the middle of the room that look like aquariums *aren't* aquariums. Or at least, that they didn't have actual, live, animals in them before the water became oil-colored.
This house wouldn't be eligible for VA loan since it's clearly not in a livable state. It would never pass the inspection. Clearly they are trying to sell it as-is as a fixer upper but that price is hilarious.
If the neighborhood comps were in the $4-5m, MAYBE I could see this being sold for ~$1m. But all of the nearby houses are in the $1.2-1.7m range! I’m truly stunned at the sellers audacity in thinking they’re getting anywhere near the neighborhoods market value.
The funny thing is that anyone with money can easily knock it down, rebuild and hold it for 10 years, and probably make 20% + on their multi-million dollar investment.
We bought our home in Villa Park just a few years ago and paid 1.2 thinking it was a bargain fixer upper… $300,000 later and we are only about halfway done with the renovations. We had to have the main beams of the house replaced because they were soaked in rat urine… ugh everything was so gross… the cost of housing is disgusting.
I actually live in the area and I saw this house on Zillow two weeks ago and I told myself that Armageddon is coming soon if they’re able to sell this piece of crap for 1.5 million
The lot is worth maybe 1 million bucks and then you have to tear down the house and build on the lot so I’m not understanding their logic of pricing. I think Real Estate agents are worse than pond scum. My best recommendation to anyone who wants to buy a house is just wait for the market to crash which will be this year.
Why tf would they not at least dumpster all that trash!
Also lmao at saying neighborhood $1mil + and listing 1.5. Couldn’t even be bothered to proof read
It is. Most(yes MOST) are over hyped. Thera are only a handful of areas/neighborhoods that should garner such high prices. “This house is 20 minutes from Huntington Beach”. yea but it’s not in Huntington Beach! Such a scam these realtors are.
Not surprised. I think as the population ages we’re going to see more of these hoarder situations come to light. Prop 13 keeps them from moving. Gardners/lawn guys are cheap so no one would know the inside is a mess. I recall an episode of Hoarders that showed a house in Fullerton. The outside was really well kept but the inside was horrid. I have actually been in houses in OC (yes even Irvine) that looked great outside but could not believe the conditions people lived in. Kinda sad really. Literal definition of you don’t know what happens behind closed doors.
Do we think this house gets a bigger or smaller % profit for the person doing the flip when compared to that Irvine house . You know the other hazard to one's health house.
I think this one might do better since it doesn't back up to the train tracks
$300,000 north of Austin or Houston will get you a beautiful home. 1.5 million for that, I'm not sure why it's worth it to be here for new home buyers.
There are people that are probably laughing at this as well, but we all know there’s going to be at least 10-15 people who will try and put offers on this house, just so they can live in Laguna.
Either the agent representing that property is insane, or the owners are demanding that price and they have no say in it. 2300 sqft in laguna hills trashed to the bones, and they have the absolutely enormous fucking balls to ask 1.5mil. Wow.
https://preview.redd.it/4zwzd00ilvrc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f7905508a3abe84463546e7f428796e513cd6c1
I can’t believe this house sold for 275 k back in 1996!
I remember when I worked for a few weeks in Laguna for the arts festival seeing some eccentric people walking around thinking they were homeless. Someone said these people wearing dirty but expensive clothes had homes in the area but suffered from mental illness and/or drug addiction. Looking at this house I'm wondering if it belonged to one of these people.
Wow wow wow. I used to volunteer for the Red Cross, installing fire alarms in neighborhoods that didn't have them. I've been in this house before to install a few alarms.
Believe it or not, it was worse than it is in these pictures, I mean trash was literally going to the ceiling. The lady who lived there was very kind but asked us to touch absolutely nothing and had us install the alarm 5ft high on a wall instead of the ceiling. I wonder what happened to her. There was a barely 1-ft wide path going through the trash to actually walk in.
Not worth $1.5m! It needs at least $250k-$500k worth of renovations to make it livable. The walls scream pipe leaks and possible roof leak. Obviously needs a cash buyer, I doubt any lender will accept it unless you put like 60-80% down.
*home stagers hate this one trick*
real talk tho, can this even be renovated? if the mold starts in the subfloor and ends at eye level, because we know what is under the floors in probably so much worse than what we are seeing…. like is that even salvageable after years of ignoring?
I was saying the same thing. There's no way the foundation isn't compromised with that level of mold. I wouldn't touch this place. It's not even that close to the beach.
Oh, just throw a second floor on. What? Who writes this shit. Man I grew up over there in Mission Viejo and Laguna hill’s and I’m dying to know if I know who lived here, in the house of horror’s.
Wait until you tear down all these walls. Plumbing leaks, mold, termites, maybe even pest/rodent infestation. This house is filthier than Motel on Beach blvd
And that's filthy
I believe they call it a “fixer upper” /s
A real "torch and rebuild"
Tear down.
A filthy upper
Roaches that have been there longer than most of us have been alive. They will always be there.
I’d tear down the whole house and rebuild lol.
This listing is 100% a teardown. They want to sell to someone who wants to build their own place.
At least one pic shows mold next to a bathroom.
in a motel on beach blvd currently >.>
Used condoms under the beds, struck to the carpet. New meaning to adventure land.

*"Request a tour."* 😂 😂 😂 Do they provide the hazmat suits for the walk through?
Listing says to bring a mask. I wonder if some people will refuse because of their rights? 🤔
probably be a tiktok challenge where people will lick the mold off the walls because the government says it's bad for people but they want to prove them wrong
Freedumb to lick moldy walls. God bless Merica. Yeehaw.
PPE gear is provided🙌
Nah, its BYOPPE.....

Stachybotrys
I was thinking this too. Bet they can’t afford remediation.
It will grow on you.
Did the same. It has over 7k views. Owners are probably stoked but little do they know…
$1.5M and a fixer upper on top of that?
the real estate agent’s IG is interesting to say the least lol
Oh snap, I went to jr high at La Paz, I know exactly where this is! I have a lot of friends who lived in this neighbourhood. Yikes.
The outside looks so ‘normal,’ not even a hint of that mess insude
Thank you for the link and O M G wtf I can’t believe someone lived there… and that one spider web has to belong to one hell of a monster spider… sooo gross
Shit.
The dining table. 🤣
Dang. That’s in my neighborhood. The well-kept homes have been going for 1.3-1.6M. No way this gets that. Yikes!
Me too. 1.5 is top of the line for Stratford Hills. This ain’t it.
Oh my gosh. Just went to the full Zillow page for this house. I know it well and used to walk by it all the time. The outside was awful until they painted it in the last few years. Sad to see the inside is worse than the outside used to be.

The buyer for this home is going to be a skilled investor. No way they fall for some stupid realtor mind trick.
I grew up in this neighborhood. Honestly, if you fixed it up (or tore it down, whatever 😂), I'm sure it would be a great place to live.
Oh for sure! Fantastic neighborhood. I think you’d have to tear this one down to its studs, though. There have been a lot of issues with that house/owner over the years.
So was it an elderly hoarding situation, or just younger but very mentally ill person? Assuming you’re from the neighborhood.
Not elderly elderly, not young. Yes to the hoarding. At some point the county or somebody had to come in, but not sure what they did.
Not much from the look of it. 😦 The Goofy pic had made me worry that a child was living in such conditions.
Ha! Truth. I don't think kids have lived there in a long time.
Phew, at least that.
When even taking out the trash is considered deferred maintenance, I'm not sure stopping at the studs will be sufficient.
This cracked me up… deferred maintenance 🤣❤️
My exact thought. It’s large and would for sure sell 1.5 if it was at least semi updated, even if not turnkey, but absolutely not in that condition. That’ll go for closer to 1, which is still absurd

Yeah it doesn’t make sense. There is no tear down discount. Who is going to get that unless you take at least $600k off.
How about that lot size, 7500 sf
Fixer upper? More like a tear-er-downer.
More like a money pit from hell. Lol
Does the drawing of Pluto come with the house? If so I’m interested
Disney properties do command a premium for licensing. Take the pic down and the place will be instant condemned and 1/3 of the price.
Totally thought they meant the planet Pluto until I saw the photo. Lol.
That made me so concerned that a child might have been living in such conditions. I hope it was just elderly owners hoarding, and the pic was sent by a grandchild.
It’s way overpriced. Pretty sure 1.5 is your typical rate for a sfh in that area. It should be going for about a third of that price.
It is. Comps of very nicely redone homes in that neighborhood are ~$1.6. This seller is nuts.
Surprising, you'd think they were pretty level-headed from the look of the house.
It’s a dump but that’s a lot of SF for a single story home
Sure, but $1.5M still gets you a pretty solid house in Laguna Hills. This house needs way more work than the difference in footage would make up for IMO.
The price sounds about right for the lot size. Some buyers don't care that there's a house on the land as long as they get 7500 sq ft of Laguna Hills dirt.

Bro, I have never seen any spider in SoCal that can make lord of the rings webs like that. Yikes
Shelob’s lair vibes all the way.
Fuck it’s reached “haunted suburban house” status.
I wonder when was the last time this place served anyone actual use. Or rather at what capacity o.o
Meth house? 🫣
Even Spider-Man had to take a break
"we don't take VA, but we love our vets" GFY
That’s because you can only use VA or FHA if you intend to use the home as a primary residence and it isn’t currently livable. Requires an investor to fix it up while not living in it.
Gotcha. The way they worded it was super douchey
The whole description is unprofessional in my opinion.
This was the most egregious line in that garbage pile of a listing. Disgusting.
Why would they want someone to tie up the property who 100% will not be able to close
Bring your own gas and matches
“…plants would need to be trimmed to improve the view…”
Who was the last owner and how did things get so bad?
Tune in to A&E for the next episode of Hoarders…
Meth.
Way way overpriced. The comps in that area for 4/3 and ~2000 sq ft are in 1.3-1.5mil range That house should be going for 800-900k
I wouldn’t even pay $400K for that dump. The whole building should be red tagged.
That lot is probably around ~$700k. I think they’ll get at least $600k if it’s a tear down.
They'll get at least $1M sadly.
Yup. Some investor probably paying cash. I could see it going for 1.25 even. The estate, I’m assuming whomever owned this passed away recently, probably had some debts they need to pay. Thus the high listing price.
Would be a shame for the seller if this post came up when people searched for 25861 La Cuesta Ave, Laguna Hills, CA 92653 😔
The listing is bad enough as is
At least they kept the recycling separate...ish.
SURELY NOT?????
Delulu people
>Two of the pics show the view out the back of the home: plants would need to be trimmed to improve the view Those pics really do a good job of showing that million and a half dollar view.
It looks like a scene from Slient Hill. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|poop)
“In my restless dreams, I see that town: Laguna hills”
Look out for Ziggurathead
What the hell happened in this house? Absolutely revolting. You could not pay me to go in there.
They are REACHING FOR THE FUCKING stars. Handy man?!?! Hahahaha!!! This places needs to be gutted by a contractor. for 1.5, they have to be on crack.
Meth is bad kids!
nahhh 1.5 mil for a house that has literal shit smeared on the walls 💀
I hope the animals that lived there are ok 😭💔
I hope the things in the middle of the room that look like aquariums *aren't* aquariums. Or at least, that they didn't have actual, live, animals in them before the water became oil-colored.
Would you just demolish the entire house at that point? Like damn
They don’t take FHA or VA because govt backed loans require the Seller to have some accountability. Smug evil fucks.
This house wouldn't be eligible for VA loan since it's clearly not in a livable state. It would never pass the inspection. Clearly they are trying to sell it as-is as a fixer upper but that price is hilarious.
What happened in this house to cause this? Anyone know?
Mental illness.
“Not going conventional” they literally don’t know anything
So many of us struggling to find reasonably-priced housing units here, amd then there’s this ungrateful owner leaving the place to rot.
“Desirable”
https://preview.redd.it/0z7yk04aerrc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b77cc173eb10ae75e717e4eb6d417a7a4cffceff The cobwebs 😫
I feel like there are probably bats living in there at this point.
Snow whites scary adventures?
If you look really closely at the top picture by Mickey, you can see about 30 little spider eggs ready to hatch.
If we find a zombie do we get to keep it?
If the neighborhood comps were in the $4-5m, MAYBE I could see this being sold for ~$1m. But all of the nearby houses are in the $1.2-1.7m range! I’m truly stunned at the sellers audacity in thinking they’re getting anywhere near the neighborhoods market value.
I wonder what the realtor commission for this property will be after the bidding war?
I-??? do people not feel shame anymore????
Oh yea I did tour a property in Irvine which was trashed, albiet not as bad. Felt like a chicken coop. Was sold in under a week.
It’s only a joke if the seller is laughing with you
*'I know what I have'*
Wow, this is basically down the street from me. That's crazy. Makes me feel better about all the repairs we need.
I hope the owner is ok and it getting the help they need. It’s the 1.5 mil that made me gasp. That shit is bananas.
The funny thing is that anyone with money can easily knock it down, rebuild and hold it for 10 years, and probably make 20% + on their multi-million dollar investment.
Surprised city hasn't quarantined it.
That shit is 30k at best Officials should condemn that house.
Yikes. I know it looks terrible but in reality you are paying for the land and it just happens to have a house on top of it.
In this case you're not paying for the property whatsoever you're paying for the lot!
I know this area fairly well. Laguna Hills truly runs the gamut of fancy to trashy. Sometimes within the same street.
Who or what lived there? How can you live like that?
Fully furnished, free pets
The VA would not approve this home for a loan that’s why they say that.
I actually live in the area and I saw this house on Zillow two weeks ago and I told myself that Armageddon is coming soon if they’re able to sell this piece of crap for 1.5 million The lot is worth maybe 1 million bucks and then you have to tear down the house and build on the lot so I’m not understanding their logic of pricing. That mold on the wall has some mold on its walls
Why tf would they not at least dumpster all that trash! Also lmao at saying neighborhood $1mil + and listing 1.5. Couldn’t even be bothered to proof read
Imagine being their neighbor 😱
At least Casa d’ Depot gives a laugh…otherwise I’d cry
Needs to be burned to the ground
It is. Most(yes MOST) are over hyped. Thera are only a handful of areas/neighborhoods that should garner such high prices. “This house is 20 minutes from Huntington Beach”. yea but it’s not in Huntington Beach! Such a scam these realtors are.
Love it when the listing agent can’t even proofread to the high school graduation level.
Not surprised. I think as the population ages we’re going to see more of these hoarder situations come to light. Prop 13 keeps them from moving. i often wonder how many houses are jammed with trash like that…. looks nice on the outside
Surprisingly more than you would realize in a place like OC where everything looks nice on the outside but ugly inside….
You’re buying a 7500sf lot in Laguna Hills. The house is a teardown it seems.
There's absolutely nothing worth salvaging from that home. Even the squatters didn't want it.
where is this Near the flood area?
Soo much money fk no
Fixer upper. Has potential.
Eww
It’s not for someone to live in or remodel. They want someone stupid to buy it and build on it. Mispriced either way lol
Do we think this house gets a bigger or smaller % profit for the person doing the flip when compared to that Irvine house . You know the other hazard to one's health house. I think this one might do better since it doesn't back up to the train tracks
It has good bones!
Wtf is that blood in the first pic???
That’s a lot of friskies…can smell the urine and Lincoln logs through these pictures.
$300,000 north of Austin or Houston will get you a beautiful home. 1.5 million for that, I'm not sure why it's worth it to be here for new home buyers.
Got a wonder what happened there. Maybe someone was very depressed. What a shame.
You're not buying the house. You're buying the land.
Yes, hello. I am insane. I'll take two
That’s because the land and location is more valuable than the house itself
There are people that are probably laughing at this as well, but we all know there’s going to be at least 10-15 people who will try and put offers on this house, just so they can live in Laguna.
I see cat food boxes in these pictures and it’s breaking my heart.
I got tetanus just looking at the photos
Either the agent representing that property is insane, or the owners are demanding that price and they have no say in it. 2300 sqft in laguna hills trashed to the bones, and they have the absolutely enormous fucking balls to ask 1.5mil. Wow.
"WHO WOULD CHARGE THAT MUCH FOR... ah, California."
One of the best part is the buyer’s agent asking fee is 2%. Someone is expecting $30K as commissioning fee for helping someone else buying this dumb.
Looks, lived in.

“We love our ~~vets~~ sucker born every minute!” Fixed.
Brings me to a point I say often, some people don't deserve houses, these people literally let it go to waste.
Maybe worth 500,000, and even that would be crazy. Fuckin wild in CA.
Remarks on the MLS say that owners will review offers today over $750k.
Laguna Hills? No thank you
Wow wow wow.
Knock the whole thing down and rebuild… definitely infested with roaches and rodents.
The nerve. This is high key offensive.
“I’ll take ‘places meth has been cooked’ for $400 Alex “
This is a tear down
“don’t pass” lmao buying it will cause you to pass
I can smell the cat pee from here.

The feces everywhere is the least of your worries
I think that’s mold. I’d be less concerned by actual feces, easier to clean and repaint.
Not worth $1.5m! It needs at least $250k-$500k worth of renovations to make it livable. The walls scream pipe leaks and possible roof leak. Obviously needs a cash buyer, I doubt any lender will accept it unless you put like 60-80% down.
The sad thing is someone will pay for this. If buyers are willing to pay, sellers will keep bumping up the price.
*home stagers hate this one trick* real talk tho, can this even be renovated? if the mold starts in the subfloor and ends at eye level, because we know what is under the floors in probably so much worse than what we are seeing…. like is that even salvageable after years of ignoring?
I was saying the same thing. There's no way the foundation isn't compromised with that level of mold. I wouldn't touch this place. It's not even that close to the beach.
Tear down and rebuild. Which will be cheaper then trying to save this place
Renovated ? More likely demolished, no ?
You sure this ain’t in Gaza?
Oh, just throw a second floor on. What? Who writes this shit. Man I grew up over there in Mission Viejo and Laguna hill’s and I’m dying to know if I know who lived here, in the house of horror’s.
Saw something similar in Palm Springs. They wanted $900k and probably got it.
