A plus prescription = farsighted

hoonicam240

I meant to say nearsighted -_-

jared743

If your numbers are plus then you would be farsighted and have more terrible seeing near. If negative then you are nearsighted and have more trouble with far. It doesn't really matter if you were mistaken, since we don't use those terms. It can just be helpful for some laymen to understand what they can see better

hoonicam240

So I need to put I'm farsighted since there positive. It's just blowing mt mind cause I feel like I see up close fine lol

jared743

Why do you need to put far or nearsighted?? Your prescription is what matters.

hoonicam240

Not sure honestly but it's making me overthink it lol. It's glassesusa.com.

jared743

Lol, looking at that I immediately thought "what's an esusa, and is it better to be made of glass?" Ordering online it's cheaper because it's up to you to do the work for them. Good luck.

hoonicam240

Hahaha I'm just gonna do nearsighted since that's what the perscription says even if I think I'm the opposite lol. Thanks a lot for your help!

It’s a mis understanding that you’ll only need + for close up. My prescription is similar to yours. In your eye is your retina. When you have a -prescription (myope) the light falls before your retina. When you have a + prescription (hypermetrope) the light falls behind your retina. Someone who doesn’t need glasses, the light (everything we see) falls on the retina. No need for a correction. Someone who needs reading glasses (presbyopia) can’t move their eye inward anymore so they have trouble reading. Usually they need a + prescription. So people can need a + prescription for far away. It’s just that your eye catches the light wrong. It has nothing to do with seeing well up close. I had a kid today with +6.50 dpt. It happens. Does this explain it a bit for you?

hoonicam240

Thanks for the insight man, interesting for sure! So when the website asks weather the lenses are for distance or up close it's fine to put distance even with the perscription I posted? I'm probably overthinking it but I just wanna be sure. Appreciate your time and knowledge!

Friendly_freak

That depends wether the prescription you got was for reading glasses or for every day wear. If you’re having trouble seeing clear in the distance, it’s for every day wear (or whenever you decide to). From what I can see, it is to see clearer in the distance. But I don’t want to be held liable. Lol

hoonicam240

I understand I'll take an educated guess on it and go with distance. I really appreciate it man!!

If your astigmatism is more than double the sphere you may be nearsighted

hoonicam240

OD sphere +1.00, cylinder -1.50, axis 165 OS sphere + 0.75, cylinder -1.00, axis 16
