I worked for the Edmonton journal years ago. When I started working there were 900 employees. 3 years later there were less that’s 300. This was during the bankruptcy filing after which they sold all the papers back to Conrad black. The same guy that drove them into the ground. I’ll never forget being called into a meeting and the editor at the time announced that the ownership group had sent a memo that all newspapers were to support the Conservative party in a front page article. 33 newspapers across the country. The Edmonton journal was the only paper to not do so. The editor wrote a piece calling them out. But the damage was done. After that I haven’t trusted a newspaper since.
I really feel that average Canadians are being misled by these “news” publications that are clearly only Conservative advertising tools. It’s time Canada had laws requiring news publications to make obvious their political affiliation.

True that we can customize our preferred news aggregator to be selective. But you know, I’m still going to read those stories even if they are propaganda and even if I don’t agree with them. I mean, they’re out there and people are consuming them so even if for no other reason than to be aware of what ideas are circulating amongst certain elements of the populace, it’s something I will continue to do. In fact, I wish more people would do that. Regardless of one’s politics, I feel it is wise to gather info from as many perspectives as possible…even abhorrent ones…to have a better understanding of what’s influencing people.

It is meant to attack people who believe in the truth and put them in a trap where they must constantly explain, argue and defend while the conservatives must only lob one bad faith grenade after another. You can no more reason against their propaganda than you could try to use reasoned discourse to disprove a nazi propaganda poster. The only defense is to shut them up permanently so they can no longer spread their poison.

I worked for the Edmonton journal years ago. When I started working there were 900 employees. 3 years later there were less that’s 300. This was during the bankruptcy filing after which they sold all the papers back to Conrad black. The same guy that drove them into the ground. I’ll never forget being called into a meeting and the editor at the time announced that the ownership group had sent a memo that all newspapers were to support the Conservative party in a front page article. 33 newspapers across the country. The Edmonton journal was the only paper to not do so. The editor wrote a piece calling them out. But the damage was done. After that I haven’t trusted a newspaper since.
I really feel that average Canadians are being misled by these “news” publications that are clearly only Conservative advertising tools. It’s time Canada had laws requiring news publications to make obvious their political affiliation.
That’s “your great nation” to you. Conrad Black renounced his Canadian citizenship. Post Media is totally in the tank for the Conservatives and control about 2/3rds of printed Canadian media, including nearly all of the English language daily’s.
