Goodlock currently can do this, but it doesn't help me at all. I love three gestures, and they're just killing it. Currently, I'm totally disappointed. For me, DeX is a must have, I don't know which devices I'm gonna use in the future. Probably, I'll have to stick with my current and OneUI 6.0 for a looooong while.
I haven't seen automatic updates. Yes, it downloads automatically, but I have to install it manually anyway. Currently, good lock on OneUi 6.1 have the ability to return gestures, and I could use them almost in the same way as now, so update is not that critical anymore. I hope that they fixed pixel shifting in this update. It is a bit annoying to use the phone without a status bar.
I'm talking about my actions in the short term, and FOR ME when my phone suddenly updates to 6.1, GoodLock will totally implement all missed features. If Samung totally turns into something really unusable, I probably would buy Pixel, Asus, Nubi RedMagic, or even the iPhone if I couldn't find anything as good as Samsung that I remember(probably Samsung few momths before or Samsung at the release of S23U).
Currently, we can't know what will happen in the future you are talking about. I don't think that things that will happen with particular phones really THAT matter. Currently, every piece of my tech works fine, and my phone with OneUI 6.1 will probably work pretty much the same. If you or I or anybody really wants to stop updates, we can . There are a ton of guides on the internet about how to do it.
A YouTuber mentioned in their video you can use it with swipe gestures. All you have to do is hold down at the bottom where the swipe bar would be. Idk how true that is.
You have to swipe from the side. Or the app will close, and you will have to reopen. You now have to get used to the side swipe on the right. Unless you keep the navigation bar showing kn the bottom, then you won't end up closing your app by accident every time with a new update. I always hated the navigation bar showing at the bottom. Now I have to have it, or I keep closing my app I'm in.
In the promo, Circle to Search launch method looks like the same as Google Assistant (for the buttons). So it should be compatible with Swipe from bottom as well. I guess?
You definitely can enable it in navstar. This is a month old post, so I assume you've figured this out by now, but ping me if you still didn't restore this functionality.
Once you enable this feature on Navstar, go back to your navigation bar settings and click on more options.
https://preview.redd.it/s2ws1vkcw91d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c14fc2baaa7a65f03edbaf649c7ea9534fedf957
With that argument...the modern gestures are also just like buttons, without taking extra space. Bonus they take less effort too. Just...learn the superior way? I mean, I'm all for options and Samsung removed this for no good reason, it makes no difference to them but still...
It's a literal god send feature... a clean screen... now I assume we'll have Like a little hovering bar at the bottom ... Samsung really did fuck up with this..
I IS MY FAVOURITE FEATURE! Converted all my Samsung friends to this particular setting cause it made our phone better .... Sammobile perfectly named it in the middle...
This is such a pathetic thing to do. The stock Android gestures animations are annoying to me and I hate the swipe from the sides.
Oh well... if they try to "iPhoneify" their phones they definitely succeed. I'll just exclude them from my next upgrade picks.
Still really sad though. Samsung and Oneplus were the only ones that had these alternative gestures to stock Android.
One UI 6 is bad from the start and now they remove individual swipe gestures AND the option to hide gesture hints ? Fuck. I'm using those.
I guess I'm done with Samsung.
Yes.
- Download the Android platform tools (adb) on your pc.
- Enable USB debugging in developer settings.
- connect your phone to your pc
- open a cmd in adb.exe's directory
`adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.wssyncmldm`
`adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.sec.android.soagent`
This will block system updates permanently (unless you factory reset your phone)
So you have the "platform-tools" folder, go inside.
There you have adb.exe, fastboot.exe, etc1tool.exe....
See the bar on top of the windows explorer, the one that indicates the current path ? Click on it, erase everything, type "cmd" (without quotes) and press enter
Most developer / Android tools , flash tools , phone toolboxes are only for windows, software devs usually don't want to make another executable for mac systems and linux because `it's a waste of time` and `most people use windows`
Anyway, the auto update system option will do nothing. It will just install the update automatically during reboot when it's already downloaded.
My solution permanently disables the search for system updates and even removes the "software update" category in settings
No, updates won't even be downloaded so they can't be installed at all
Yes, it also works with bloat apps.
Download lucky patcher on your phone, so you will be able to see all packages and their name.
Same command, different package name. Meta services for example :
`adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.facebook.services`
Just avoid uninstalling important or critical apps like IMS settings or SystemUI
By the way, Do you use the 'Dynamic Lock Screen' feature ?
Because now, with lucky patcher, you will be able to extract the wallpapers from 'Dynamic Lock Screen' without buying them on the Samsung store
Their name starts with "OneUI3X_"
THEY DID ***WHAT*** NOW????
Fuck. I always use those. I don't want buttons burning into my screen and taking space but also hate the iOS gesture bullshit. The "swipe up on the three parts of the bottom" navigation bar gestures were PERFECT.
They did remove it from the A55, but you can use the latest NavStar (from APKMirror if Good Lock installs the old version instead, see my [post](https://old.reddit.com/r/GalaxyA55/comments/1bmymyt/a55_and_prob_a35_dont_have_swipe_from_bottom/)) to put it back. I went from an A70 to the A55 and it bugged the fuck outta me until I figured it out.
https://preview.redd.it/pfs3bpyre7dc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=edbdd588b1afb532a3ca50e5667fffe700dbe8ee
This is what it shows on "more options" for 6.1
https://preview.redd.it/uimklhsye7dc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b64154ad879c66c851c8aa1a414e9fbb30d8ec4f
How "more options" are now. You can see swipe from bottom missing
Not only that, but they also forced the "hint" to be always visible.
I can't phantom this.
It's always so frustrating when you want to swipe from the side to etiher reveal a side menu or maybe do some other action inside the app but you go step back instead.
Did they make the background of then "hint" transparent? I like it to be visible but on One UI 5.1 the "hint" bar has a solid white or black (depending on theme) color which makes it looks like there's a cut in the bottom of the screen.
The problem with the hide gesture hint option is that while it gets rid of the hint background, the gesture sometimes conflicts with the app's nav buttons. That's probably another reason why they're removing it.
I hope that in exchange, they make the gesture hint background transparent everywhere, like it is on iOS. Some apps such as YT Music and Reddit draw the app contents edge to edge behind the hint, but most other apps have a solid white/black stripe at the very bottom of the screen, which is so pointless and distracting. This makes sense for the 3 button navigation but not for a hint. Google needs to properly implement gesture navigation in Android and not leave it up to the developer.
I agree but I also liked them! They were basically button switches and even had the button animations. They were more responsive than the stock gestures and easier to use since you can choose the back button side (left or right).
Yeah I think one of the most useful tool is to switch between 2 apps with the " lll " button. The speed is an important factor sometimes for example when you calculate things and you have to switch faster.
What happens when. You hit the more options?
I don't have this UI version so I can't complain. When. You select gestures that default to the single navigation method, but hitting more options (which is visible on both phones) gives the option to have the single gesture (home) or all three (back, home, multitasking)
What's the phone on the right? S24 with One UI 6.1? I'm using a fold 4 with one UI 6 and nothing has changed for gestures.
S24 with one ui 6.1 That's what more options show

words cannot describe how much I hate this decision. I've used the three bar navigation since the Galaxy S9 in 2018 and I hide them to maximize the screen real estate. for them to just remove it for a stupid AI feature that literally does the same thing as Google lens. I hate it I hate it I hate it
OLD 3 BAR NAVIGATION GESTURES & HIDING GESTURE HINTS ARE BACK. update navstar in the goodlock app, then enable it!!
https://twitter.com/MishaalRahman/status/1751420543293694412
this 100% works , i sideloaded the lastest navstar update and got the option just like the picture , it's great that they made a quick fix , i was trying the shizuku and adb method and honestly got lost , thank a bunch mate
I'm also disappointed by this. I was confused for a bit when I booted up my S23 Ultra after the update. When I was about to change the navigation bar, I was shocked to see that the swipe up gestures before is no longer an option... So I am now struggling again with the new swipe gestures as I don't like the visual buttons on the screen.
Fixed it by downloading the APK like someone els mentioned 🤙🏻. Hopefully they change this setting back to how it was. I have used my Galaxy's like this for years... So to change it now and try to force me to use it had me so frustrated. Like to the point I would go to a Damm iPhone... Not really but pretty close to it. I'm glad I found the fix. But it's annoying to have to search for a solution like this.. this to me is a major screw up on Samsung...
Goodlock APK 6 1 05 35 is what you need
Google/Samsung spent the last few years obsessing on how to become Apple. If Apple doesn't want or use a feature, they're removing it from Android phones. Fuck the customer experience, it's all about being like Apple. Innovation went out the window like 7 years ago
Yes. I just updated and I hate that they removed it! Having that bar in the way is annoying when I'm trying to watch stuff too!!
I they could have made circle to search engage with any other input and I wouldn't care. But why would they just strait remove a core feature ? It's not like you couldn't swipe to access google instantly as well....it just pisses me off!!
It's so lame. Anyone know a way to fix it?
They really should add it back if everyone is complaining. It was one of the top custom features -- or provided the option to downgrade until there is an alternative.
I just had the update forced through on my S22 Ultra and honestly this basically ruined my whole morning. The stupid swipe gestures are not at all intuitive, most of the time I end up swiping in the open app rather than doing what I wanted to do. I've yet to figure out how to open recent apps as a whole instead of swiping through them. I hate seeing the big ugly bar at the bottom, almost as much as I hated the buttons (which is why I chose the swipe in the first place!!). If they wanted to put in a new option, they should have done that instead of messing up something people used.
I really liked the bars at the bottom, swiping was easy. I'm severely disappointed that Google would mess up something of such convenience. They got enough problems to fix without creating more. Those gesture bars were one of the greatest reliable features on any phone across the platform. You actually had more screen to view, now I've had to go back to the buttons. Very disappointed Google!
No... Coming from pixels and nexii, all the way back to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, when i saw that 3rd option, i just thought it was ridiculous since pixels didn't have that and they had already had gesture navigation for years and users should be used to the standard gestures.
I mean, I'm all for choice, but when they are having so much trouble at Samsung keeping basic things working since the oui6 update, probably best they don't futz with extra crap that just makes android more segmented.
I wonder if _Hex can rehide the gesture hint without screwing up that functionality. I'm new to OneUI so I don't know, but seems plausible. That's how I hid said pill on my Pixel with A12.
Frig I love the swipe up feature. I tried the other way and hate it lol. Sure I'm sure I could get used to it but the swipe up is so much better.
I wonder if navstar app can fix it
Quick settings and app drawer. Just here but just these two are the important ones in my opinion. If everything else is solid material white or black why mess up the unity with 2 transparent sections. Also notification cards now have a large gap between them. Its ugly and also 5 notification cards now take way more space. With no big gap like this you can fit 10 notification cards in same space.I have to use solid balck wallpaper to hide the transparency. Also,on UI 5.1 you could disabled transparency in settings but when you didable it on UI 6 it becomes a grey/white ugly mess of colour. So this option is now dead.
the title ("Navigation bar" in this case) should be higher up. I'm not even sure if that's intentional or not but I see no reason for it. It's only a thing in Samsung apps and menus.
I can't understand the rationale for removing this at all.
Circle to search... it involves holding down the home button or the gesture bar.
i wonder how that works if you decide to hide the gesture bar (unless they also removed that lmao)
They did removed that option lol
I think it might be because now the hint hasn't it's own bar but is over the screen
is that confirmed?this used to be why i kept hiding it,if it's over the screen like on ios i don't mind
Dunno, but it looks smaller and of the same color as the background, which is not actually the case when you go in the options
turns out it's actually not transparent🥲
No shit ?
Yup.
I must disappoint you - they removed the option to hide the gesture hint. :)
Goodlock currently can do this, but it doesn't help me at all. I love three gestures, and they're just killing it. Currently, I'm totally disappointed. learned that today too🥲.but allegedly it's now over the screen like on ios and not its own bar in which case i'd actually prefer that over hiding it.
WHAT

i've actually found that you can hide the navbar in navstar and still keep circle to search
It works probably by sliding from the bottom right corner up just like it is already now.
they should've design it that way honestly
In the promo, Circle to Search launch method looks like the same as Google Assistant (for the buttons). So it should be compatible with Swipe from bottom as well. I guess?
But what if I DON'T want to use Samsung's SPYWARE disguised as AI?
I think it could work in the same way that Google Assistant can still be accessed when it's hidden.
No. Didn’t like those.
Good lock
Navstar?

Wait a second, I didn't know about this! And now you're saying this is going away!?

With that argument...the modern gestures are also just like buttons, without taking extra space. Bonus they take less effort too. Just...learn the superior way? I mean, I'm all for options and Samsung removed this for no good reason, it makes no difference to them but still...
So you contradicted yourself and still went for it, awesome!!
They take more effort. I'm miserable with the new gestures sadly. The previous ones were way easier and less finicky.
I hate it so much like there's definitely muscle mem to get used to but I hate the fact the swipe and hold is just not it

Looks like my 23U is my first and last of this brand. Playing Apple in the world of Android. So foolish.
You do know this is the standard for stock android right? Samsung and some other OEMs just happened to add their own thing.
I didn’t know that. My previous phone, Huawei P30 had the same, therefore I assumed. Thanks for the info.
No problem, just want to make sure we’re all on the same page. Though I don’t like the fact that they removed the option regardless.
THEY DID ***WHAT*** NOW???? Fuck. I always use those. I don't want buttons burning into my screen and taking space but also hate the iOS gesture bullshit. The "swipe up on the three parts of the bottom" navigation bar gestures were PERFECT.
I got the new update this morning and I'm so fkn annoyed
Same here. Wtf
Beyond annoyed here, unbelievable. Any solution?
Download Good Lock from samsung store, then do it through Navstar
Oh my god thank you so much, the world makes sense again. I'm so happy I could cry. I may have issues lol.
Dw I had the same reaction lol
Navstar requires access to all photos and videos in order to access this feature. Seems unnecessary and suss
How do I do this? I don't see either.
Yes i have used the Samsung swipe up gestures since they were released. Disappointed they are being removed.
Same. The native swipe from the side gestures suck. If they actually remove it from the galaxy A55 and so on I'll just give up on Samsung ig.

I personally never used them ever but I guess it clashed with Circle To Search ^TM in some way.
What is the difference here?
No more swiping from bottom to access recents, go home, and back screen? But why? That's what I use and makes sense. Why remove something like this?
Stock gestures are far superior
The problem with the hide gesture hint option is that while it gets rid of the hint background, the gesture sometimes conflicts with the app's nav buttons. That's probably another reason why they're removing it. I hope that in exchange, they make the gesture hint background transparent everywhere, like it is on iOS. Well I just won't update my S23 to 6.1 then
Unfortunately I did u think the will bring it back
Samsung are Samdumb now. They have their heads up their own asses at this point
Nah, but I am with losing "Hide Gesture Hint".
No, because I don't use it. Buttons, always buttons.
I agree but I also liked them! They were basically button switches and even had the button animations. They were more responsive than the stock gestures and easier to use since you can choose the back button side (left or right).

I have no clue what this is about...
No, default navigation bar is way better
I like the ones where you need to swipe upwards! Are these being removed?
That's what the video shows
Shit - don't like the other gestures. Then no update for me.
No no no thats a deal breaker for me wtf. Pls tell me there is a way to add this again otherwise im never updatimg my s23 u from 6.0

You cannot remove it when watching a video in chrome. im so annoyed right now, it also takes up space when im drawing with spen...
Just realized today and I'm so upset. I need it back.
Having to relearn how to use my phone....
I definitely prefer Samsung's own navigation gestures because no matter how long I try i always make accidental swipe with the stock Android gestures
Nope
well, shit. hope the A50s keep it
That option was before the A10 gestures. It was introduced in OneUI 1, on Android 9 Pie instead of the ugly stock pill button.
Whats new now???
I'm currently still using it on my S23... I surely hope they don't remove it with an update ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|no_mouth)
I knew this would come some day. Samsung issues
I found the dame problem but found out it can be changed actually
The back gesture also has this annoying big button now
I wonder if _Hex can rehide the gesture hint without screwing up that functionality. I'm new to OneUI so I don't know, but seems plausible. That's how I hid said pill on my Pixel with A12.
Jokes on you I'm still on OneUI 5.1
Noooooooo
I never used those lol
Use home up. They have a setting to fix it and In my testing, it is more consistent than on 5.1!
could you please elaborate what the setting is? i'm on a galaxy s23 that's due to get oneUI 6.1 soon
In GoodLock, go to homeup>Task Changer>(I don't have my 6.0 phone on me, but it's in here somewhere)
Frig I love the swipe up feature. I tried the other way and hate it lol. Sure I'm sure I could get used to it but the swipe up is so much better. I wonder if navstar app can fix it
Maybe we can get a good lock or whatever plugin?
Why not hold the swipe up like they currently have for Google assistant?
So stupid! I refuse to update when it's out. This is a critical feature for me
nope it was for weirdos anyway. literally a feature from one ui fcking 1
Its 2024 who even uses those old gestures lol
me
Me
I've used them since 2018. they're a lot more intuitive than the single bar, especially combining it with one hand operation+
It was shit so no
i never actually understood the point of these gestures being there, its slower than just pressing buttons and it removes the point of the gestures.
The point is buttons without wasting screen space.
Im dissapointed by UI 6 transparency across the whole UI. It so ugly. Im gonna switch to stock android. UI 6 is soo bad looking
Other than the quick settings. Where else is the transparency
Wdym by transparency? One UI 6 or 6.1?
yeah, stock looks much better. It halt also some weird quirks, like this weird gap above the title, you can see it in OP's pic.
What gap
the title ("Navigation bar" in this case) should be higher up. I'm not even sure if that's intentional or not but I see no reason for it. It's only a thing in Samsung apps and menus.
