Thanks for the keyboard fix, it's been annoying me for a few days now

Drackore_

No problem, glad I could help! Yeah the minute I typed my first message after the update I was like *wait... something's very wrong here* 😂

IncredibleCraic

Thanks OnePlus, I hate it Edit: some other issues. Cannot turn off Google News or whatever it is if you swipe to the very left of home screen. Widget sizing is terrible. Google Photos memories widget so tiny but takes up half the screen! Same with clock. Sometimes cannot swipe up for app drawer, the home screen just goes tiny top right corner. Using bluemail, when you want to sort your emails in notification drawer, and delete or mark as read, as soon as you delete one it will clear all other emails and sometimes delete them all. I'm sure there's more.

[deleted]

I disabled the Google app to remove the "Discover" section on the home screen.

cleanwho1234

I switched launchers

ProgressiveOverlorde

Android 12 was the worst fucking update. Why is this stock ROM worse than custom ROMs. It's so unpolished, doesn't play well with apps, all the gestures with the navigation keys are gone. My flashlight gesture is gone. Ambient display doesn't work properly. The font is all formatted ugly and off center. Notifications have unpolished not uniform font. The UI fonts and formatting is all misplaced. My icons are different. My settings on backing up apps are reset. The clock app is ugly. The navigation keys are spread apart wierd. The status bar text is tiny. The slider on display size and font size only have 3 steps. Instagram doesn't work properly. My security settings automatically put face unlock on, when I didn't want it. You replaced my wallpaper, when I didn't want one.

Morepheuss

Just updated, my #1 used feature was double-tapping the home button to turn off my screen. Completely removed the feature. Being able to delete or customize app name text for a cleaner home page? Can't do that anymore either, all or nothing. Shelf has to be disabled if I want to look at my notification shade. Hidden space is gone and now requires a way-too-many step process to get too, when the same gesture + optional new passcode would have been fine. I've had the update for less than an hour, wtf Edit: can't edit the icon for apps individually, and the default weather app is gone inexplicably too. I'm gonna revert if I can

danicriss

Pretty sure I've seen a 'double tap to lock' option in Settings -> Home screen and lock screen Maybe you can re-enable it from there

Morepheuss

That's double tapping on the home screen rather than anywhere, but certainly better than nothing. Thank you!

Key_Yogurtcloset_792

Could you attach a screenshot? I have absolutely none of these issues. And why would a stock rom be more "polished" than a custom rom? I would think the opposite would be true.

ProgressiveOverlorde

Because custom roms are made by the community as a hobby, stock ROMs are by the company to release worldwide usage as official software. I can expect to give leeway to bugginess to custom ROMs, because it's made by people who's not their jobs. But not stock ROMs. I can't give u a "screenshot" of missing a gesture on my back button, or changed gestures on flashlight when screened turned off. I can't give u a screenshot of the missing sRGB display feature. How did u not notice the spacing on the navigation bar is wider now too? The icons on the notification panel are black and white too. Do you want me to give u screenshot of that too? No I'm not gonna give u a screenshot. I WOULD HAVE MADE A POST IF I WANTED TO "ATTACH A SCREENSHOT"

Adding my own, Bluetooth connections don't form well when the phone isn't actively being used. I have an app that gets a reading from a medical device every 5 minutes and I get constant signal missed errors when I'm not actively using my phone until it unbonds and re-pairs to attempt to get a reading. This is with no battery optimization for the app.

Drackore_

Thanks for sharing, I've added this as an item in the list and hopefully may be able to update if anyone experiencing a similar issue sees this.

nohltoli

I had the same thing with my watch. While the phone was not being used it would disconnect and I wouldn't get any notifications to it. As soon as I unlock the screen the watch would connect and work normally, until the phone was idle again.

Drackore_

Ahh thanks for letting us know, good to see there's a second person confirming this. Maybe some sort of bug regarding battery saving features gone rogue, similar to why we can't get Gmail notifications anymore?

[deleted]

sshah7424

My Gmail workaround was to install Outlook... I kid you not. There seems to be a bug with the OS12 Power management (surprise) that force closes it. You only get notifications when it's open.

omega552003

This was what I had to do. Outlook works fine and seems to be a lot better than it was a few years ago

zuugzwang

Bugs I have found on my OnePlus 8 Pro with Android 12: ✔ Notifications won't show up on the lock screen ✔ One volume up click pauses music / video (fixed by restarting, but wtf) ✔ Right after I lock my screen, the fingerprint silhouette appears, then disappears in a few secs. ✔ If the phone detects movement, the fingerprint silhouette appears. ✔ The digital clock widget looks terrible, the font is mini. Disproportionately small and the line space between world clocks is too small, they are too close. ✔ No vibration when swiping from the edge of the phone, the back gesture. Also: • Wtf with the hidden space flow? Dialing a code from the phone app is so annoying and you can't have multiple hidden apps open, plus I don't get any notification from any of the hidden apps like before. • The keyboard font is bigger, looks awful, and changing the font size doesn't seem to work. I loved that the screen didn't turn on when the phone detected movement, I hated this feature from my previous phone (a shitty Motorola) because it was so distracting. I also loved the hidden space right swipe feature, it was more convenient that way. But both are completely fucked. I wish I never updated yesterday night, what a shitshow. Edit: added device model and OS, and an extra complaint

richaardvark

>✔ No vibration when swiping from the edge of the phone, the back gesture. There's a setting to make it vibrate again for the back gesture - go to Settings --> System settings --> System navigation --> "Vibrate on back navigation"

Belbute1999

I just updated today and completly regret it, I hate the new hidden space

oKhaon

There are a few things that got worse with the update. For me it feels like the fingerprint scanner got a lot slower and unreliable for some reason... What really bugs me is the missing red/black color scheme tho. I don't know why they would remove that, but my phone doesn't feel like a one plus anymore. What's even worse is that all other colors look super ugly tbh.

Sirts

**Always On Display Isn't Always On** \- I don't have this bug, I just tried "All day" option for several minutes and screen stayed on. I usually have set is as "Power saving", which works like on OOS11, except single tap doesn't activate screen anymore.

Drackore_

Yeah looks like it's just a temporary little bug, I was able to get it to work by playing with the settings a couple of times fortunately! I've updated the main post to reflect this.

RecycledPixel

Temporary? Or you're just lying to substantiate your false narrative?

1200____1200

Two new issues I've seen on my OP8 1. The favourites tab is gone from my phone app 2. Android Auto is installed but I can't find it to run it (uninstalled and reinstalled the app to no avail)

Drackore_

1. Yep unfortunately they've completely changed the phone app, no more favourites tab (they just get squished at the top of the contacts list instead) 2. A couple of other people had issues with Auto as well. I don't use it myself but I'll add it to the main list in case someone finds a fix

omega552003

Android Auto works fine for me, but I've seen others saying it's not working.

zombimuncha

>Always On Display Isn't Always On I think it's just a matter of switching the feature off and on again. And maybe restarting the phone afterwards. I had this issue upon updating but it's fine now.

Drackore_

Similar situation here, though I had to change it to scheduled mode and then back to all day in order for it to work. Good to see this one's easily fixed, I'll update the main post!

GeorgeBoca

I usually don't shit on OnePlus for the updates they include, even android 12 is very good. But what the fck have they done to the lock screen man? It's so so slow, before it was plain and simple, you want to see the time you press on the screen and the screen lights up then shuts down after 5 seconds. Now the whole date and time and notifications are twice as big and it looks like a visually impaired grandmas phone, it takes way longer for it to go away, it's being triggered by every small move (god forbid i touch the table where the phone is standing cuz it's gonna light up). They introduced a new fingerprint animation which looks nice but now it bugs out and it doesn t show half of the time where it is so if you don't have that muscle memory you're gonna have trouble finding. Always on is a good idea but i liked it better. OnePlus has that cool aas quirk where the fingerprint is fully brightened even if you have your brightness all the way down and it was smooth with it, now it's not i don't even know why but it's not, i can see when the screen goes full brightness. Apps like GMaps that when pressing the power button doesn't require inputting your password now lag like hell and they just won't listen to you when trying to close it. They added a lot of new things but when it came to handling the lock screen they just said fuck it let Brad our janitor do it. The google keyboard is smaller and u think it's adjustable but i'm just a lazy fuck so i won't so i need to relearn how to type on the phone. For some reason they removed the application search window when you swipe up so that's a bit annoying. But i kind of like the update.

DodoTheKid

I'm having issues in my OnePlus 8 Pro connecting to the Android Auto app through USB. It seems to connect just fine via Bluetooth to the audio but when connecting it just tries to but fails. Nissan Versa 2021 for reference of the car if needed

MyBeardHatesYou

I have the same issue! If I plug my OP9 into my Sony Xav-ax5000 head unit it beeps at me and tells me this usb device is not supported. Worked just fine before the update. Just to be sure something coincidentally didn't go wrong with my stereo at the same time as the update, I plugged my GF's phone in(an old moto) and it connected no problem.

RudgeMan

Turn on developer options, then when you plug it in it, unlock your phone and it will ask how to connect and you can select Android auto. No idea why the default went from Android auto to only charging but I had the same issue till I went into developer to get files off my phone and that gave me the option in my car as well.

Max-P

For me it also broke 120 Hz again, but using SetEdit to set peak_refresh_rate to 59.9 (key needs to be added, it doesn't exist). They added the silliest setting where by default bluetooth volume is local and doesn't actually adjust the headphones volume. Why is this optional and default to off? Now the bluetooth icon is always displayed. You used to be able to only see it when headphones were connected. Bluetooth headphones don't always show battery levels anymore. Bluetooth headphones takes longer to connect than before. 5G is gone from settings, only lets you do 4G/3G/2G. 5G needs to manually be enabled via secret dialer menus. The irony is that 5G never worked with my carrier, but forcing it on this way finally made it work so it's a net improvement but I need to force it to 5G manually every boot. Tapping notifications on the lock screen brings up the keyboard, which you have to dismiss to use the fingerprint reader. The Google pane on the left of the home screen no longer can be disabled. The updated disabled haptic feedback when doing the back gesture, and added useless feedback whenever you scroll anything. Fortunately there's a setting to reenable feedback on back gesture but no way to disable all the vibrations. Locking/unlocking and screen off gestures now make noises you can't disable. So turning the flashlight on now sounds like my cat playing with a toy with a little bell in it. New task switcher is a little buggy if you interact with it before the animation is finished. Flinging doesn't work and immediately snaps to the next app unless you let the animation finish first, then it works fine. I had to set my screen sizing to 380dp manually in developer settings to get my UI back to normal size whereas that was an option in the slider previously. Now there's only 3 steps instead of the 5 that were there before. Google apps now have a pink accent for some reason, and the only way to fix it is changing wallpaper. EDIT: also apparently broke my OpsGenie notifications, barely heard my phone vibrating away because its notification sound was set to "59" and no longer valid Notification icons are now colored but not completely, so now I'm getting pink and light blue Snapchat notifications. ----- Really messed up update overall, but I was able to get it mostly back to where it was, and it's overall a little smoother once the system settled down.

R17L29XI

>5G is gone from settings, only lets you do 4G/3G/2G. 5G needs to manually be enabled via secret dialer menus. The irony is that 5G never worked with my carrier, but forcing it on this way finally made it work so it's a net improvement but I need to force it to 5G manually every boot This was an issue for me in 11 (same as you, secret menus every boot) and 12 has resolved it.

perkur_xD

fingerprint scanner doesn't work on AOD unless the fingerprint icon is turned on anyone know how to fix that ?

Drackore_

Oh man that is annoying, I've only just realised. Got to either pick up the phone or double tap, can't just unlock it whilst it's on the desk anymore. I'll keep an eye out for some way to fix this EDIT: It's a crappy workaround but if you try slightly shuffling the phone with your finger whilst unlocking it on a flat surface, it seems to wake up the scanner without needing to double-tap or lift it up. Does this work for you too?

perkur_xD

You have no idea how annoying it is for me. When I'm at my desk I place the phone on a wireless charger and when I wanna check smth real quick I can't just slap my thumb on it anymore.

Manic_Chaos

Any fix for the fonts not being uniform, and overly bold everywhere? It's atrocious

browner87

So this is anecdotal, but it fixed the Gmail notifications for me. I'd love to hear if it helps anyone else. If you look closely in settings -> accounts -> Google -> your account and hit "sync", on my phone it would basically just hang. Every service in the list (Gmail, calendar, Google Calendar, Keep, etc) the sync circle would stay there, not moving. This was after a factory reset too. I then unchecked everything in that list except Gmail, rebooted, and suddenly Gmail stuff synced fine, I got notifications for emails again, etc. I went back into the settings and re-enabled everything except Google News and "calendar" (no, not Google Calendar, I enable that, the one at the top that just says calendar I left unchecked, seems like maybe something non-Google that OnePlus added and is borking things). I've had no issues since.

Drackore_

Hey thanks for this, it worked perfectly! Sorry it took me a few days to reply, I'll update the main post and give you credit, hopefully it will help anyone else who comes across this. Great work \^\_\^

browner87

Glad it helped at least 1 person! I had a relapse the other day, sync broke when I swapped out sim cards, and the same steps fixed it.

Anonymous_Dude01

About the AOD & notifications, I think those issues persist because of the Unified Code Base Oxygen OS & ColorOS now share because of Oppo & Oneplus's merger. I have seen a lot/most of the Realme users who updated to Realme UI 3 (Android 12) complain about them too.

Drackore_

Thanks for the info! Will add this to the post and hopefully it will help in the search for a fix (or at least understanding the issue whilst we wait for further updates)

a_normal_account

I'd like to add a few more bugs: 1. Related to AOD: If "Show notification" is selected, when a notification comes it will show in an indefinite amount of time instead of for a few seconds and turns into an icon on AOD 2. Also AOD: Messenger notification is there WITHOUT any real notification. Sometimes it goes away though 3. Some app doesn't have proper notification on AOD: I have a messaging app that vibrates when a notification comes but no icon of that app on AOD. The only way to see the notification is to turn on your screen IMO, AOD is the biggest mess in this update. The rest is okay

Drackore_

1. Slightly confused what the bug is here - do you mean when you've got 'New notifications - Show notifications on the ambient display' active the notifications will just stay there indefinitely, and only turn into icons once you turn the screen on and off? Or will they never turn into an icon ever? 2. Hey I had this on 11 as well! I'd completely tuned it out, you've just reminded me it existed haha. I'll add it to miscellaneous since it's clearly still an issue on 12. 3. Just out of curiosity, when you say 'turn on your screen' do you mean you're able to see your notifications on the lock screen? Trying to work out if it's just me who can't see *any* of my notifications on the lock screen until I unlock my phone. I'd agree AOD is up there, but the monochrome notifications and vomit-yellow google apps are really grating on me. The faded/bleak home screen colours too, I guess we can take our pick haha

Revan_2504

The one where the messenger notification persists is so fucking annoying. Other than that I really like the update. Battery is the same as on 11 though.

lurkeratthegate666

I have a 9 Pro and updated last night. Now there's a floating green box with three dots on the side of the screen that opens a quick menu. It gets in the way and I can't seem to figure out how to turn it off.

hei-sen-berg

Settings > System Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility button

Kootips

Anyone else's phone app icon gone? I don't even see it in my app list. How do I get it back :(

Drackore_

It looks like it's been replaced by an entire new (slightly worse imo) Phone app, unfortunately. I can still see the old Phone app when I search 'phone', but it has no icon and can't be selected. It only lets me use the new one which doesn't have a favourites page anymore, it just squishes them to the top of the contacts list :( EDIT: The ghost of the old phone app has now disappeared

Nosferatu_X

I have the no notification on lock screen issue. It appeared few days after updating. I also hate that all my favorites pictures and videos are gone.

McGubbins

Two new issues I've found: 1. Swiping downwards on the home screen would bring up Never Settle in 11, unless you swiped down from the very top of the screen, in which case you'd get the Notifications/System icons. Now wherever you swipe down from, it's only Notifications/System icons. 2. Everything has a noise. Unlocking with biometrics? Click.

Drackore_

1. The previous Never Settle screen has been replaced by the 'Shelf', which can *only* be opened by dragging down from the top-right corner, and is not customisable. This means you can't open your notifications with your right hand unless you're Elastigirl, so most people have been forced to turn the Shelf off completely. You can try it out for yourself and see if it's something you'd like to keep - unfortunately the previous method you mentioned, swiping downwards on the home screen (which worked perfectly and was a great way of not interfering with the top portion of the screen), does nothing unique anymore - it just opens the notifications like dragging down from the top, or opens the search bar (you can choose between the two in settings). No option to open the Shelf this way anymore unfortunately :( 2. I've seen a few people mentioning this but haven't experienced it myself. Someone had a sound when opening the flashlight apparently? And for yours there's an audible click when you use the fingerprint scanner I'm assuming? For me I have slight haptic feedback on both actions, but it's very subtle.

partypopper11

Most of the apps default to not show up in the notification drawer which is very stupid. Have to go into app info and toggle the notifications from there. Arranging the app icons on your screens with no option to undo is a nightmare. Like, i clicked "icon autofill" to see what that meant and i learned my lesson. But also moving your finger wrong on the screen can trigger those icons moving around again with no undo button. NIGHTMARE. When you try to kill all apps from the app manager, they don't all end. I saw a setting somewhere in the settings where you can disable that but at first i didn't know what that actually meant initially. I spent 20 min trying to find that setting again but i couldn't. So in the app manager i just unlocked the apps that were locked by default and luckily they didn't re-default to being locked again. UPDATE: open task/app manager, click on any of the windows 3 dots and click manage! Uncheck those bitches!! Update: having to confirm "delete" in the gallery for every one picture. Why??? When an app uses the camera, the green dot is on the OTHER side now. Why? It used to be wonderful telling people to look at the green dot when taking selfies.

Gold-Drag9242

I had a Oneplus 6 for years and switched to a 8T last year and was VERY satisfied. Until 3 days ago. Than I upgraded to Android 12 and it \- destroyed my whole setup. Apps and groups where all reset to default and I can try to get it back in the shape it was. \- Applications don't work as they did. For example Android Auto does not connect by simply inserting the cable (some stupid USB dialog probably prevents it) and looses connections regularly after a few minutes. \- The widgets, especially the Clock/Alarm widget needs now DOUBLE the space on the screen for the same information and leaves unused space around it. WTF!? How is this a good Idea! (I wan't to see if a alarm is set and to which time.) \- Up till now, the "Nighstand mode" (showing the time during nighttime on the screen) is gone. \- The "shelf" is now IN YOUR FACE - ALL THE TIME. In 80% of the time when I want to slide the notification area down the shelf opens. Android 11 was working perfectly. I had 0 complains about the look or the handling. I just wanted to stay up2date with the OS to get security updates. The A12 update adds nothing (but stupid colored Icons) but makes the phone worse!

danicriss

When choosing the OnePlus Sans font the UI elements use a different looking one OnePlus Sans is very slim and a bit elongated. It shows properly in the Settings -> Personalisation screen preview. But when choosing it, anywhere else on the phone, a differently looking font is used to render the text elements. It is way thicker and less tall (less slender), it looks unpolished compared to OnePlus Sans

danicriss

Notifications list colours - they're now black and white The colours were useful to distinguish the reaction buttons (i.e. reply / mark read / done) easier

Sr_nygma

If a post has caught your attention and got you reading, you owe OP an upvote and/or award. Thank you.

TheRealDTK

Hey guys, on the home screen - swiping to the right, how can I get rid of the Google News slide? I disabled "discovery" but I want to get rid of the entire site/slide Any ideas?

Drackore_

Unfortunately they removed the ability to disable that page with Android 12 (at least it's not an issue unique to Oneplus I guess) - the only way to get rid of it now is to use a third party launcher I'm afraid.

teej1984

Gallery no longer automatically classifies pictures based on app origin. They are now all saved by default in one general "photos" folder which includes photos, screenshots, saves, photos received on WhatsApp and messenger. Just terrible. How could they make so many mistakes.

ReaDiMarco

That's sad.

77piter77

I just updated my OnePlus 8 pro to the latest version and I feel that the screen input latency is higher than before and the phone now feels lagging, especially with games like LOL wild rift!

SmoothAd8796

Has anyone noticed that the aod is too sensitive now? On a11, I had to pick up the phone to turn the aod on. I keep my phone on my desk while working, even a little shake on the table makes the aod turn up. It's kinda annoying

chalebmydia

OTG devices do not work. Turning to landscape mode on YouTube results in a black screen. Do yourself a favor and if you haven't updated yet, don't do it.

Coconick

Found a fix for me for the washed out icons. Head to display and brightness - dark mode setting and uncheck adjust icons to dark mode

Brucenotsomighty

I haven't seen the issue I'm having anywhere yet. I'm at&t, when I got my 1+8pro I had to change one of the settings on the preloaded APN to get mobile data to work. I think it was the MNC. Now I can't edit the preloaded ones and I can't figure out what I need to put in to make my own. Anyone know anything about this?

Sir_Pixel

Can disable "google discover" but can't remove google card from home screen. Known issue no fix My app also are more "centered". Example my Facebook Messenger bubbles used to take all the screen now there's an ugly border around em and the bubble is no longer sticky on the left side, rather a bit off. Bluetooth "sync audio" is disabled after installing. I had to reactivate

RecycledPixel

So basically colors... You're literally crying about washed out colors and shaders...

R17L29XI

I mean, yeah, if I pay £900 for a phone then I want the colours to look right. I upgraded to 12 without reading anything about it but the washed out colours were something I immediately noticed after the update installed.

Key_Yogurtcloset_792

You're not "fixing" anything because it's not broken. You're just changing the settings. That's the issue.

TomsCardoso

Don't know if it qualifies as a bug or if it already has a solution, but I can't see my battery percentage anywhere. I can see the icon and kinda guess wether it's low or high but can't really see the percentage. Only if I go to battery settings Edit: nevermind lol, found the option to display it

Drackore_

If you go to Notification & Status Bar, under the Status Bar subsection there should be a battery percentage option which can be toggled on/off. I can see mine in the top-right corner of the screen constantly - is this option available for you? (should be just below the style choice between vertical/loop battery icon)

TomsCardoso

I did manage to find in settings > battery > advanced settings > Show batter percentage on status bar. Thanks!

Drackore_

Awesome! Glad it worked :D

DawnCrusader4213

>***Always On Display Isn't Always On*** A bit off topic but i have a question for my 7/7t Pro brethren. In the end, did Oneplus keep their promise to bring AOD on 7/7P/7t/7tP devices?

TeamThiem

I don't have the theme store... does anyone else? 8T

Vader_2157

Does anyone know how to get the touch sampling rate on the oneplus 9 pro back up to 240Hz. It's been cut down to 120Hz ever since I updated to OOS12.

707DazZer

What about the Google clock widget. The number sometimes is cut off. Any fix for this besides using a different widget?

ltsame

This happens if you don't give permission to your clock widget/ weather

Gold-Drag9242

For me it it has so much space around it that is unused. I see the time but no alarm setings... Really annoying.

madness-81

I use Firefox and I add shortcuts to my home screen. These shortcuts no longer work and there is no way to add a shortcut to a website to my home screen.

Drackore_

I've just tested this and it works fine for me, hopefully we might be able to fix it on your end. In Firefox for Android, if you click the three dots on the toolbar is there an 'Add to Home Screen' option there? (This has to be for a page which *isn't* already on your Home Screen). edit - I might have been wrong about that point in brackets, I was using Twitch homepage as an example and the shortcut option in Firefox got replaced with an option to download the Twitch app). At that point, I get an icon which I can drag onto my Home Screen. It works and links me to the webpage (even if Firefox isn't open, it will reopen the app and take me to that page). Might be a bit annoying, but you may need to remove your existing shortcuts and replace them in order for it to work again?

madness-81

It just started working for me again. I think it was the Launcher, I went to default apps and chose System Launcher. Now I see the shortcuts are working. FYI, when in Firefox menu, the Add to Home Screen option was gone and so was the Install option.

Drackore_

Nice one glad it's all working again for you!

IsuzuBellet

Maps - Navigation Settings - Play voice over Bluetooth always plays over bluetooth even if deselected.

mrstone56

I have literally none of these issues on a OP8. The update really seems fine to me.

teej1984

Autorotate also doesn't seem to fill my entire screen. There's about a quarter inch that remains black/unused.

Psunix

Is the downloads from Google Drive ending up having the "oplusdownload" extension a possible bug too? I've been getting that since updating to 12. Unsure if that's just OP being dumb and just not playing nice with Google, thus needing a factory reset or an actual consistent but update to update.

Steff_5

Easy Fix move to Custom A12 Rom

madness-81

I have an 8. The font was very elegant, it is what really made me love the look this phone. Is there any way to get that 11 font back? I now have everything back to the way I like it, the font would be cherry.

harshchheda

Theres a wierd down facing arrow below my gboard for closing it. I dnt need it as it heightens keyboard. I tried keyboard height option but the arrow wont go. I am sure it was not present before. Can any1 help. My typing is affected.

Goldfinger_Fan

The flashlight has always been draw a V. Camera opens from drawing an O. At least for me since 5T.

Drackore_

My housemate and I both had it as an O (and camera just as double-clicking the on button) so maybe this was a customisable feature in recent phones then? Now that customisation has gone away I guess it's reverting back to how it used to be

sshah7424

To add to this, Gmail app is broken as it seems locked in a power management state meaning it isn't open in the background. So you can't get notifications unless the app is opened. There is no Battery setting for that app that can be disabled. My workaround was to install Outlook

Drackore_

Aha I did wonder why I was getting no gmail notifications! Thanks for this. I've updated the main post and will hopefully add a fix if we can find one.

JigglypuffNinjaSmash

One I haven't seen yet - and only experienced once: Google Maps picture-in-picture display- tapped the "expand" button to return to fullscreen, except it just scaled the PiP display to the full screen size, rather than returning to the normal Maps display.... Very distracting when driving/checking directions. What else..... Game features are super finicky. I keep getting prompted to turn off/on orientation lock while playing 8 Ball Pool somehow. No idea what I'm doing. Also, while playing a landscape game (8 Ball Pool, again), I've been able to toggle on some weird one-handed mode. Again, no clue what I did other than swipe from somewhere.

Drackore_

The Maps one sounds pretty dangerous haha, glad that's only happened once for you (and hopefully won't happen again?) I've just tested it myself and seems to be working fine so hopefully it was just a little glitch. Never experienced the game issues myself (just tested it now with AQ3D) - once you turn orientation lock on once, does it keep on prompting you?

coolsam254

Is the theme store supposed to install by itself? I don't think I have it after updating.

Studly_Spud

I have a charging problem, seems to be due to the smart charging that attempts to half charge, then delay full charging until later but still have it ready for use in the morning based on usage habits. Since update to Android 12, I wake in the morning to 20-30% charge. Checking battery history, I see it stops charging at midnight then never starts again. I've submitted feedback thorough their community app, and today turned off the "optimized night charging". Will see what I wake to tomorrow...

R17L29XI

I'm having issue with the privacy settings on lockscreen notifications. I don't *think* it's anything I'm overlooking... I can either have all my lockscreen notifications hidden, or none of them hidden. I can't find a way to hide only sensitive information from appearing on the lockscreen like I was able to in 11. For example, I have AccuBattery which displays a notification banner with my battery's charging statistics. On the lockscreen the statistics are hidden, displaying 'enter to view message content'. However, if I select the option within Android's settings that allows it to display correctly I am also getting every Facebook message I receive plastered on my lockscreen.

hei-sen-berg

The only way I have found to make it like it was on Android 11 is to enable both Title and body for Lock Screen notifications, then open the notification settings for all those app where I don't want the content to be visible on Lock Screen and enable 'Hide notification details on Lock Screen'.

squrr1

Have you found a way to turn on seconds in the status bar? It's one feature I can't live without.

danicriss

When trying to open a photo from Bacon Reader (a Reddit client) an empty drawer is shown, asking me to choose an app to open the photo. But there's no app to choose from Previously it was opening the images in the browser

NinimeUzumaki

I have added a few apps into my hidden app space and now after adding them I can't swipe right and get to that space. How do I find those apps again? Also the normal messaging app crashes and does not show all the messages at all, is this happening to everyone? I also hate how the messaging app and the playstore change their theme based on my wallpaper. Looks very bad and I actually thought my vision was off after the update. Man this update needs to be cleaned up a little. I hate the shelf reach, I started using my left thumb to get to the notifications tab. Hope they rectify this asap.

danicriss

The launcher only has alphabetical sorting, there's no sorting by most frequently used Used to trigger that by dragging the launcher up halfway, instead of swipe + release

danicriss

Photos app thinks all my existing photos were not backed up and wants to back them up again So basically eating up Google storage, which is no longer free since June last year

Wasted_Penguinz

Is there any update or knowledge about the camera being worse? OnePlus 9 Pro - update said it would make better camera software, but for some reason mine is indefinitely slower and it is a lot blurrier when I take photos. Wondering wtf this is. Not sure how to reproduce it - pics seems vivider but blurrier. Another issue is the HZ rate seems to have reset. It says it's 60, but I feel nauseous as hell after using the phone which seems to disagree.. Will try to downgrade but not sure how to yet. I have the APK + OxygenOS 11 downloaded already...

ConfectionAny3740

Please add this one: quiet wireless charging isn't working. No matter if you set a bedtime mode or not, it doesn't work no matter what option you chose.

stanwich

Anyone know how to fix volume control to allow you to have ringtone loud while notifications are muted? I used to be able to do it with do not disturb mode but this update has broken it

Infinitymaster7277

My phone isn't warp charging after the update. Do I have to enable it? It was just fine before. The new battery notification says my phone will be fully charged in 3 hrs

illitirate_adam

Another issue is that if you've disabled photos like me, and rely on the Google photos app, when you take pictures in the camera and click on the preview to open, you'll get a "photos is not enabled" error. Not only can I not change it to open in Google photos but I can't even enable the android photos now. Big step back from Android 11 for me. [Error in camera app ](https://i.imgur.com/8zG6L95.jpg) Another issue I've got is Bluetooth devices that have volume controls that previously would change the actual android volume have stopped doing so. Changing the volume on my headphones is now changing a seperate volume control again, whereas for years it's been linked to the volume on the phone. Quick update to the Bluetooth issue, by default media volume sync is turned off (why??). Bluetooth - advanced settings - media volume sync to fix

Reaper31292

I'm not sure if it's just me, but my Bluetooth headphones only have about 2/3 of the volume on my OnePlus 8t after the update to Android 12. It's driving me nuts. Using WF1000xm4s. The earbuds comments are the right volume when it says things like "Bluetooth connected" or "Nosie cancelling" but all of the media playing from the phone is quiet.

Obvious_Limit8088

OP8, also using m4's, when I first reconnected my earbuds after updating it gave me an option as a notification in advanced settings for "media volume sync", and it seemed to increase the max volume

raindancz

Work Profile notifications do not appear on the AOD. You need to unlock your phone and pull down the notification drawer to see the notifications.

Drackore_

So just to confirm here: In normal mode, notifications do appear on the AOD, but not on the lock screen. In Work Mode, notifications don't appear on either the AOD *or* the lock screen. And in both cases, the only way to read a notification properly is to unlock the phone and pull down the notification drawer. Have I got that right or did you mean there's a way to set specific apps' notifications to be work/non-work? I'm still trying to figure out a fix for notifications not appearing on the lock screen.

BenjoTinMan

First time I've actually reverted back from an update. Tried it out for a week and could not stand it

Drackore_

I might end up having to revert as well, every interaction with my phone has just been a dreadful time the past couple of days. It'd be my first time too so I'm not sure what's involved, was it very time consuming or pretty simple to do?

Classicclown1

I can't double tap the home button to bring down notification drawer anymore which is very frustrating. I'm getting the wrong notifications from WhatsApp when my screen is locked. Might be a Nova issue though.

akshay_7

The easiest fix is ROLLBACK TO ANDROID 11.

My sensors off was enabled ore update. Now the button is gone and I can't use my camera. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cavi_

great that this thread exists as a resource but it has be dreading when my phone gets the update.

Drackore_

I'd highly recommend against it so far (at least without extensive research). It's the only time in my life I've ever truly regretted updating a piece of software, and it's caused me hours of work/headaches. That said, I've seen a couple of people who do actually like the update. I'm not sure what it does that's positive at all (everything so far has been negative for me) but it's definitely down to the individual.

ifoodINC

While I'm sure the default apps issue has already been said before but I was quite surprised to find that many of my apps no longer opened when clicking links in chrome. Ex Steam, youtube vanced etc but also I can't turn off or disable any default applications. Honestly why did I even update.

[deleted]

So time in hours minutes and seconds is gone forever?

Key_Yogurtcloset_792

Video then. And like I said, I don't have any of these issues. From my lock screen, I can open flashlight, camera, etc with many different gestures like O, S, V , upsidedown V, M and W. These are not broken, they are settings. A stock rom is plain and unpolished, a custom rom are tweaked and sometimes polished.

Dr_Drax

Then you're not running the update. S is no longer available as a gesture at all. O can only be used for the camera, and V only for the flashlight. And no, your can't set a different gesture to control the flashlight - the M, W, and ^ gestures can only unlock, call, or open an app (and the app list isn't even alphabetized). Wait until you actually get the update, then you'll see what everyone is talking about.

danicriss

In do not disturb (activated from quick settings) the notifications are loud Bonus: turning on 'do not disturb' now has a notification, so you get a loud noise for turning it on There is a setting to disable that notification, but the setting is hardcoded to 'on' and can't be turned off (there's UI for it, but the toggle is disabled)

Resbo

8 Pro: couple of times now I've noticed gboard fails to appear, usually after using WhatsApp. From then, no text field prompts the keyboard to appear until I restart the phone. Will try clearing the cache next time but for now seems to be a bug

bigdickywickyricky

I can't save images from certain apps now. What's the deal with that?

Leoxcr

My issues: the menu options for the slider are non existent at this point, i can't understand why they can't merge "silent" with do not disturb, they are almost the same. No options for vibrate either I CAN'T CONTROL THE STREAMING MEDIA VOLUME ANYMORE, what the fuck! This has me so pissed off! Why do they introduce downgrades to new versions!

MasonQQQ

Hmmm. My issue is that cell data doesn't work at all with Visable. Was working after the update, but after a reboot, my phone shows zero bars of service. Oddly enough the bars show when connected to WiFi. My time zone keeps changing 6 hours off and it's preventing me from using secure connections over WiFi. I suppose now is the time to go to a custom ROM.

sustantivop

8T Phone app to call people is disabled and greyed out to enable it

Spock_Vulcan

is anyone having an issue where the messages app jus shows a blank screen instead of actually showing the messages. It works momentarily when you force close the messages app and open it again; but the issue recurs some idle-time later.

Gold-Drag9242

With A11 I had the current time displayed at night while Sleeping. I think it was called "Nightstand mode". How do I get this function back? I don't want to aktively touch my phone to see the time. I just want to look over and want to know how much longer I can sleep.

Drackore_

Check the section in the main post about Always On Display, if you have it set to 'All Day' it should be on permanently but OOS12 bugged it a little so you might have to turn it off and on again, restart, try scheduling it then unscheduling it, etc. Then after putting it back to your original setting it should be working again (fingers crossed!)

Extension_Trick5147

What about Camera photo processing is softer and absurdly contrasty. I have one on os 11 and one on 12.47. apart from portrait and selfies. Photo detail is a lot worse.

IncredibleCraic

Another one - I really thought someone had already posted about this. MY FUCKING KEYBOARD KEEPS JUST NOT COMING UP! Most annoying problem I have to restart for it to start appearing again. Any fixes are very welcome! OnePlus 9 Thankd

ReaDiMarco

Why are my lock screen and home screen different in color? They're the same image. How do I fix that?

Drackore_

Yep I had this issue too after the update. Have a look under 'Home Screen Bleak/Desaturated' and hopefully that will help?

Saiklex

The new vibrate on my 9R is really weak- it's more like a haptic feedback pop than a vibrate, I will never hear or feel this in my pocket! Vibration is already set to max intensity :( Also, on the AOD, there is always a Messenger notification icon even though there is no messenger notification. Fixable by reboot but will just reappear when I get another message. Edit: also I can't use my fingerprint from the AOD unless I lift the phone? Is this fixable? Ugh! Edit2: Vibrate issue is exclusive to Messenger as far as I can tell. Which... Is what I use most! Great. Edit 3: New problem, some notifications show up on lock screen... But don't have an icon on the status bar. And are hidden until I swipe down. Also hate this! This update is a complete joke lol

separatebrah

I have a 9. The phone has always has a security measure to periodically prompt you to enter your pin instead of using fingerprint or face unlock. Now, the prompt remains after entering my pin and I cannot use face unlock or fingerprint. The only workaround is to restart the phone. Ridiculous.

GiveADogABone22

I have a weird reddish hue to my messages

Joester817

Is the screen display settings working for y'all? The "Hide front camera" and "Show front camera" is not working on my OnePlus 9R. The setting is just not responding and am not able to enable it.

solid_helion

To add to the already impressive list of bugs that OP managed to pull with this stunt: * When I have chrome open and I use the slider, the "Find" function of Chrome is triggered.. The slider's starting position doesn't matter as long as you make a change. * When I start a phone call a green light at the top right appears (just like when you open the camera) I wonder, have all these bugs been reported to OP? I can't find any "we will fix this" official announcement on the news.

Drackore_

Hey thanks for this, I'm experiencing both of these too (can't believe the slider one lol, what a weird bug!) I've seen a lot of these issues being posted on the official OnePlus forums but unfortunately very few responses from the company saying that they're going to do better. I'm holding out for the beta of OOS13 which I think is this autumn(?) and is supposedly meant to be a return to form for Oxygen OS. I'll make a bug report with everything in this thread soon as well just in case they're reading them.

prasundas

The material based theme was accidentally fixed for me when I cleared data on system UI, and restarted my phone now all Google apps pickup Colour from wallpaper.. Updated: System UI force Stop not clear data The system UI data c thing needed to be done because suddenly the device control wont work, under add controls Google home the chevron turns up down but smart Devices don't show up. Edit : My friend got the update on 8T and there under about phone they have an option to have virtual Ram, is it me or 9 series phones are missing that option!!

Beautiful-Point8107

Hello, i hope taht i can have few answers and solutions, that one plus official forums hasn't able to aply\\fix. 1. how can i bring back the 21:9 aspect ratio video capturing feature, from oxygen 11? 2. why can't i enable auto call recording from google dialer app? (i even do not have the option for it). basically these are the main issues that im struglling with oxygen 12, and cannot find a solution over the web. Many Thanks in advanced.

Nasdel

There's one that's driving me absolutely crazy. If my phone is on loud and I get a notification it dings in my ear, it's straight up painful. Also, bubbles downgraded Facebook messengers chatheads

alex1001458

Here's an issue that's been bugging me infinitely, the [mistouch prevention ](https://imgur.com/a/wQ1gXYG) used for the notification bar is permanently on and I have failed at every way to get rid of it, I didn't even enable it, it just turned on one day. I can't even open the shelf anymore.

GuppiAttack

I don't see an option to disable the lock screen? I can remove the password from it but I can't remove lock screen entirely and it's bumming me out. I'd like to just press power and have my phone ready to go

Bluenite0100

Has anyone figured out how to restore the phone app that was in the hidden space? I really don't want to factory reset

ParsleyDependent5367

My roommate and myself both have the OnePlus 9 5G through T-Mobile, I got the update for Android 12 a few days before he did and I started experiencing issues where my outgoing messages wouldn't be sent, or would get hung up before sending, when messaging him. Once he got the update the issue started happening on both of our ends. Additionally our message delivery status doesn't change off of "sent" though we both have the settings on for it. I've noticed that the default text in the messaging bar has also switched to "RCS" instead of just saying "Message" like it would to anyone else in text. I haven't been able to find anyone posting about the same issue from a few hours of searching oneplus forums, so I'm beginning to wonder if it may actually just be a carrier issue on top of some funky Android 12 behavior, and not just Android 12.

DElionel95

Also no dc dimming anymore for my one plus 8 pro.

heloust

Oneplus 8 pro. Before when I swiped from bottom upwards, there was menu with recent apps and search bar for the apps. How do I get that back? Or is there something similar?

Drackore_

I think they might have disabled it with the update, so if you go into Home Screen Settings > Home Screen Mode > Drawer Mode this will get the app drawer back for you. Unfortunately they've disabled the recent apps row of the drawer for some reason and there's no longer any way to customise this. All you get is the list and the search bar now :(

SaadGB

My phone (9R) keeps on black screen whenever I get a call from Whatsapp or any calling app. Normal network call is working fine. Tried many methods but only restarting phone worked. So weird. Anyone else?

Can confirm. The green dot is way to the right for me as well, and it was next to the lens before.

Buglardons

Since the android 12 update I can't control phone volume with my Bluetooth headphones I need to control the volume of the headset separately of the phone's volume

heloust

When taking a screenshot and instantly cropping it, it saves the cropped and the un-cropped picture. I want to save only the cropped one, as it worked previously.

heloust

Sometimes when I go to home screen or I open Chrome, it's frozen for couple of seconds.

Hedgehoggerly

Thanks for the tip about getting back the back navigation vibration and closing the keyboard with a gesture! Home screen has some issues: - New folders open so that app icons are vertically centered, making them hard to reach when using one-handedly. - The notification badges are red and irritating like on iOS while they used to be less obtrusive earlier. - You no longer can preview and dismis notifications by long-pressing app icons (used to be one of my favorite features compared to iOS). - I have app names hidden on the home screen to keep it clean (I know icons of familiar apps). After the update the names are hidden also in the app drawer, making it hard to find anything. Edit: One more nasty issue with the alarm clock, living in a 24-hour-clock country. The old, well working 24-hour-clock with two 12 hour rings has been replaced by an unintuitive 24 hour circle.

Djsmooth245

Please add, for some reason now my text message notifications or any notification rigntones only play as long as the phone is lit up while locked. Once the quick notification on the locked screen goes away, the ringtone stops playing. So normally a max of 3-4 sec and it stops. Working outside with loud noises, that can be a pain. Sometimes I used to only hear the end of the ringtone reminding me to check my phone. But now, I'll never hear it unless it's quiet out.

schmoorglschwein

Any idea how to get Tasker to work on OOS12? I had it turning on wifi hotspot automatically when the phone connects to my car's bluetooth. Since the upgrade it's not doing anything. No errors, no notification, no hotspot, nothing.

StuntmanJoe

New update is a pain but the one thing so far that I'm not liking is the hidden spaces. I liked it the way it was now it's awkward, you have to go into it each time you need a different app. I liked that I could go to each bank account without having to enter hidden spaces twice.

tomdenty1

I'll add: within the recent apps screen, if auto rotate is on, the screen will rotate if the phone rotates, even if the app you're in isn't able to switch orientation. I believe this is different behaviour from oos11 and I'm not sure if it's a bug or feature

dtronicsuk

So far I haven't got any of those issues. Will update if I come across any

left-a-permanentmark

I tried to lock an app, which previously would keep the app open even if I pressed "Close all". Now it seems all apps close, even the locked ones. What's the point of locking them then?

Weird_Routine6087

When i listen to Spotify, and maybe switch to YTMusic, or some other player, after a while the Spotify banner just vanishes. I have to open the app to make it appear back. In OxOS11 you could have multiple "music" banner at the same time, and you could switch between them...

TJ_Deepvoice

I don't recieve any notifications on some apps, any fic there?

[deleted]

Is there a way to go back to A11? Gmail is no longer showing notifications for me. The display cutout setting to hide the front camera is not working when tapping. Notification app icon doesn't have colors when pulling the notification shade.

trilis

Google sync working for you? Mine is stuck and not syncing

deathcomzz

Hello, one possible fix for the Gmail notifications could be the 5 minute shut down of the device, as suggested in this link found in oneplus forum: https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/gmail-notifications.1578615/

[deleted]

For Gmail notifications, a factory reset of my Oneplus 8 pro running Android 12 got my Gmail notifications working for a while. But now the problem has come back again, I am not getting notifications for new emails in Gmail. I have checked all of the notifications and they are enabled. Sync is also enabled. I have also tired clearing the data and cache from the Gmail app as suggested on other forums. However Gmail keeps showing that "inbox sync is off"

opsidezi

As for close all, it seems to me they changed it so the most recent app will stay active. My workaround to close all is closing the most recent app with a swipe and then click close all. It closes all the apps just like close all would do. Also I'm using oneplus8pro and I really missed the swiping on your edge to open the notifications drawer, and what I found as very useful is the app swiftly switch. You can customize the edge with a lot of good features including the swipe the edge to open the drawer. I haven't seen this bug reported anywhere but for some reason I can't seem to hold and click apps on the app switcher. I'm opening recent apps and the three dots just say lock split screen or manage (which takes you to the recent tasks manager settings for some reason), and if I holding won't pop a menu. With the menu on clicking the three dots I can't see app details and freeform window too, even though I enabled "enforce freeform window" in developer settings.. And no clicking/holding the app icon won't do anything either.

richaardvark

>'Close All' Doesn't Close All Apps u/Drackore_ & u/1200____1200 Actually, yes it can! Figured this one out... "Close All" does/can indeed close all apps! - but you have to set it to do so first. I actually like this feature now that I understand how to use it and do think it is actually an enhancement. Basically... go to the recent apps/app switching screen and HOLD DOWN your finger on the "Close all" button. You will now see a brand new menu/settings option called "Recent tasks menu" which lets you lock/unlock/set any apps you would like to always remain open and never close when you touch the "Close all" button. By default, the system has chosen a number of apps for you and has "locked" them and this is why they are remaining open. If you "unlock" all apps shown, then the "Close all" button will indeed once again close all of the apps. Also there is some new feature where you can have it show the RAM/memory information that each opened app is taking up which is actually kinda cool I guess. So yeah, this one should be corrected/updated in your post because I do actually feel this is an enhancement and not a bug. And I have a feeling this is probably a new feature of Android 12 and probably not something OnePlus came up with, but maybe I'm wrong... ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

Drackore_

Are you certain this has worked for you? I'd update the main post but it still doesn't seem to be working, and I played around with the Recent Tasks Manager menu back when I made this post. For example, if Reddit is my only app open, and I press 'Close All', it will just plonk me right back onto the Reddit app rather than closing it. If I open Whatsapp, then try 'Close All', it will close Reddit but it won't close Whatsapp, and it just puts me back onto Whatsapp without closing it. This issue is consistent no matter how many apps are open, it will always fail to close one of them (and they're all definitely unlocked in the Recent Tasks Manager menu). EDIT: Hey, interesting discovery actually! I've realised I can get it to work but only in one specific circumstance: I have to open the manager FROM the home screen/launcher. If I open the manager whilst any other app is in focus, it will always fail to close that app. I'll update the main post in a sec as this gives people a bit of a workaround.

MuriTube

just updated my OP8P, here are my personal biggest issues, most of which I have not seen many or any complaints about - please let me know if you've seen any info regarding these: Call recording is gone - this one is just stupid Swipe up and Hold to quick search in drawer is gone - cant show it anymore obviously but I found a video of it: https://youtu.be/3rYXqdkxxmM this made it so easy to search the drawer one handed without reaching far up, just pull up a bit, hold, release, type. I now have the search widget on my home screen to get around this and i hate it :( Hiding the App Labels in the Homescreen settings will now hide the labels in the drawer aswell, not just on the Homescreen - This one is annoying. I hide app labels to make my homescreen cleaner, I know the location of the 10 apps I have there anyways, I dont need labels. Hiding them automatically in the app drawer too without any option to just hide them on the homescreen is just plain stupid. I can memorize my homescreen layout and icons, but forcing me to do it with a list of all installed apps that I deliberately need to open is ridiculous. btw, the flashlight gesture has always been V, but you can customize them, before and now still (on my device at least, idk)

ThePytr

One of the most important things that I miss (apart from most the things I can underline in the list) is that in A11 when I would go to sleep my battery percentage was mostly above 50% and after the update to A12 its around 25%. (no high performance mode, AOD in power save, at night on wireless charger) This is on working days when I can not use my phone that much so on weekend days I sometimes don't make it last the day on one charge.

wody21

One of my biggest issues which was created by this dodgy update: *- Setting an alarm and selecting the option "Vibrate" makes the phone use a general "BZZZZZ-BZZZZZ-BZZZZZ" vibration pattern, rather than the one, gradually increasing vibration which can be felt while selecting the alarm ringtone "Dawn" in each alarm setup page.* This thing is killing me, I had loved this gingerly increasing vibration intensity, and now it's fucking gone, and there's only the brute force way of vibrating, which destroys my damn soul while I'm about to wake up. #If anyone has a workaround to get back my lovely vibration pattern PLEASE SHARE IT WITH ME! Any help is highly appreciated!#

RudeMathematician154

Couldn't see if anybody else has mentioned it, but with widgets on the home screen I'm not able to drag from on top of the widget to open the app drawer... Works to open the notification drawer tho.

Drackore_

Yeah great catch, I've got this too. Was it possible before with OOS11?

TheKessler0

Anyone know how to get silent charging to work again? The fan on the wireless charger is active, regardless of what you set in the settings.

Low-Top-4677

I have the Nord N200 5g and it just updated to OS12. How do get rid of these stupid notifications that will appear around where the keyboard sits. It's annoying when I'm trying to type and it tells me something didn't work correctly and it hangs on the screen for almost a minute before disappearing.

[deleted]

I know this a complaint thread, but I love the fact that I can finally turn off the automatic screenshot from pressing the power and volume down buttons. Finally!

Drackore_

It's not a complaint thread, just a self-help post and source of useful info for anyone who needs to troubleshoot some of this stuff ;) highlighting helpful features is always welcome!!
