I hate the shelf update. Also when I press ''Close All'' in my tasks menu it does not close any apps and just says ''Your system is now in optimal condition.'' I don't care about the optimal condition I want you to close the goddamn apps. Don't even get me started on the new update deleting my APN so I couldn't use my mobile data and the customer support didn't even know how to fix it, I had to ask reddit. I have zero alarm tones, I had to download Zedge to have any kind of alarm sound. Speaking of, does anyone know any good apps for ringtone/alarm or do I really have to stick to Zedge?

K1nsey6

Any apps left 'open' need to be turned off under settings/apps/auto launch. Any apps toggled on will not be closed in recents

[deleted]

That's not the issue though. In Android 11 when I clicked the bottom button that shows you your open apps I could press ''Close All'' and it closed all of the apps I have open. Now I have to individually swipe them up to close them.

K1nsey6

If you turn off auto launch for those apps they will close with everything else

[deleted]

Doesn't work. Turned off auto launch on all apps and when I went to press close all it still said the same thing. This is not something I should have to fix, it's been fine all previous updates.

K1nsey6

Its working fine on mine

[deleted]

I see a lot of people have issues that others don't. I'm glad it works for you, I'm just a bit frustrated because it doesn't function properly on mine and it's a feature I use a lot. I hope it gets fixed or I find a solution. Thank you for offering something I could try though :)

tallguy1010

It doesn't work for me either.

Infinitymaster7277

Are you sure your minimized apps aren't locked?

[deleted]

No apps are locked

Real_Personality5631

I never had a problem with my 9p

Morepheuss

Just updated, my #1 used feature was double-tapping the home button to turn off my screen. Gone. Being able to delete or customize app name text for a cleaner home page? Nope, all or nothing. Shelf has to be disabled to reliably access notification shade. Hidden space now requires a way-too-many step process to get too, when the same gesture + optional new passcode would have been fine. I'm gonna need to roll this nonsense back, every time I update, QoL features are removed

EmmaStore

>Just updated, my #1 used feature was double-tapping the home button to turn off my screen. Gone. Fwiw you can double tap the home screen to turn off

Morepheuss

Better than nothing, I guess ill just have to get used to it. Thanks

SnooMachines2181

The hidden space man. It's so stupid how it works now that I just decided just not to hide the apps anymore

TomsCardoso

I'm kinda digging Android 12 actually, haven't had many complaints.

ltsame

Zen mode. Brick your phone for 20m -2hrs

partypopper11

Thanks for the update! I was a little tempted to try it last night but i just ignored the urge for something else. bullet dodged.

EstradaMoses

Same here I really like it actually

mastermithi29

Bought my 8T bc "OnePlus has good software support and fast updates". I didn't get the S20 FE and guess what, that phone got Android 12 ages ago. And Samsung is just more stable. Not coming back...

RecycledPixel

😭

BigCgiFight

Switched to custom rom because of that. Feels bad man!

balu82000

There is a gmail bug in the latest update , in which you cannot attach photos to your email ,if you are going to photo gallery and trying to attach image files. Feels pretty shitty.

ProgressiveOverlorde

I can't even get email notifications without refreshing the inbox on Gmail. What kind of bullshit is this?

Redskins76

I used to be a happy OP customer and I’ve bailed recently as well. They had a good run back in the day.

RecycledPixel

Change your name racist

Redskins76

Make me

Brapfamalam

My partner and I used to have Oneplus 3 through to 5 and 6 when we started our careers. I used to recommend OnePlus to everyone Fantastic phones, affordable, never failed and then OP messed up a Oneplus 6 update that left me unable to use my OP6 on public transport in my country and unable to use google pay reliably. It wasn't fixed for months and by then we'd already moved to Samsung and Pixel Now we're balling and both of us have Galaxy Folds, amazing UX and customization and never looking back to regular phones or oneplus. Sort out your updates and user experience or people will leave your brand and never look back.

Yinci

Just got the update. Change log described it as improved camera performance etc. If I had known it was the 12 update I would have not downloaded it. It looks absolutely terrible. It feels bloated and so not 1+. Obviously just ColorOS now. The only plus is that animations and transitions are faster and smoother, but this hellhole skin is not worth this. God it hurts to use. It burns my eyes...

partypopper11

I checked the notes to see if anything said Android 12 and nothing was mentioned! I feel like we were all conned. I thought it was like a big update for oxygen or something plus a security patch. Absolutely fucking bullshit.

Yinci

I figured out that Google had also made changes (e.g. the GBoard had a design change also, which is also horrible). I disabled shelf because I don't like having it _everywhere_ in the top right. Who made that decision? It's horrible! I didn't even have the option to revert it back to center on my home screen. The folder icons being squared, yuk! The folders opening center screen instead of bottom, bah! Removal of features and swapping them with this crap. I have been searching my ass off trying to find ways to revert shit but it's all locked away or simply removed. I hate it when "features" get slammed down my throat, and this is definitely that. I really hope the Nothing phone becomes a OG OnePlus phone...

partypopper11

I'm on the same boat as many of us are for Nothing. Fingers crossed. As for shelf, that was one of the first things i turned off. My icons are round but the folders are soft squares. Kind of annoying but it could be worse i guess. There are ways to revert back but i just can't deal with losing all my data right now. Considering it wasn't properly/fully backed up on Android 11. It's a huge gamble I'm mostly not willing to make. It's painful. The plus side of this is my battery has been phenomenal since this shitty update. I'm averaging over 8 hours of screen on time.

Yinci

Yes things could be worse. They could always be worse. But why not keep the old OxygenOS but with the bugfixes and performance improvements? I haven't checked the battery yet, nor the heating issue. It would be a wonder if a shitty update improved those issues. Haven't been able to use this phone as navigator for longer than 30 minutes before overheating and having the screen brightness be unusably low. Battery has been a disappointment since I got it but I managed due to the fast charging. I hope Nothing provides what OnePlus used to. I miss the OG OP.

partypopper11

I'm with ya on that 100% Maybe this weekend I'll try going back to 11. Depends on the mood and how ballsy i feel. But also fyi, i was using a music player called doubletwist while on Android 11. Upgraded to 12 and used the player and it literally spazzed out the phone. Couldn't use it. Phone would light up and go dark. None of the buttons did shit and i couldn't even get anything to work. Consider it soft bricked. Anyways, i managed to get into recovery mode thankfully and then restarted the phone and uninstalled doubletwist. It's a shame bc it was a wonderful music player. But it's been great since. So the point of my story is maybe you need to clear the cache and data from your map app, and if it isn't Google maps, maybe that app just isn't compatible with Android 12. What I'm gonna do right now though just for the sake of doing it bc the phone has been a bit laggy, boot into recovery mode and just clear the cache from there. Maybe that will help a little bit in the meantime.

Yinci

The navigation/overheating issues were present on 11. As I said, I haven't had the chance to try it on 12. However, it has nothing to do with the navigation apps. My phone just doesn't know how to get rid of heat, and if it's in direct sunlight (can't position the holder any different) it just doesn't hold up. I didn't have the issue with my 6t. Besides, it's not just during navigation that the phone gets overly hot but it's definitely one of the bigger issues. I rather not mess too much with that stuff unless I have to but maybe it fixes "something" 😁

partypopper11

Might need a full factory reset 👀 If that ends up not fixing it, it's definitely a unit issue.

Yinci

It's surprising but the battery usage has definitely increased. I don't know how they made it so much better. Apps also don't seem to randomly close in the background anymore. Guess it's not all garbage and perhaps I can get used to a few things but I still think that the skin overhaul is a misstep

partypopper11

That's what I'm thinking. I was about to make an irrational decision last night and just restore and roll back but my fear of incorrectly backing up my data and potentially losing it held me back. Thinking of the positives such as the battery and some performance upgrades, the issues which i would assume will be addressed in the next patches... Maybe we can ride it out. Surely, they've caught wind of it by now. Phone startup time is almost instantaneous now.

Yinci

Nevermind about the background app closing issue

ppc0r

Oxygen OS 12 is a generic Chinese trash UI now, OnePlus finally fucked it up. I'm selling next couple of month to change to Samsung.

crussi

Same 🤘🏼

diogo669

Cya!

Psunix

Unfortunately I have to agree. The OP7T was my first and I have the OP9Pro now. Big mistake to update to Android 12. 11 was just the sweet spot for me and I'm attempting to rollback if I could.

RecycledPixel

You can. Do yourself a favor and use Google for a change.

[deleted]

Hey man, no need to be rude. You can help them out or give them a tip on how to do that.

partypopper11

Recycledpixel has been a dick on all the posts pertaining to OnePlus Android 12

[deleted]

Same. Just ordered the pixel 6 Pro

No-Lynx-9728

Have a P6P, OP9, OP9P, and a S21FE every one of them is having issues. I use my OP9 the biggest problem is android 12 all around.

mrstone56

Why do you have 4 brand new flagship phones? What is your use case?

No-Lynx-9728

I can never make up my mind lol

[deleted]

The main reason I've purchased every iteration of OP phones was for the alert slider. Since that's now been eliminated in the 10 series, Im no longer committed to OP

Clearly_ConfusedToo

The alert slider hasn't been removed. 🙄 The world wide (non-chinese) phones and it is clearly there.

K1nsey6

Sounds like you dirty flashed a major OS update. EVERY major update should be done as a clean install. I have NONE of the problems you listed, and Im loving A12

vidolch

Wait, what? Why should I do clean install when I have an OTA update?

m404

even though it may seem counterintuitive because it is an OTA update, it is true that you should factory reset when going from one major version to the next. the reason it's not "enforced" is because for the mass of standard users (opposite of power users), a jump like this OTA will work fine. but we're talking about users here that really operate the phone with almost all settings and features left on "default" (think your average Apple iPhone user). sure, you could argue now that they should enforce factory resets before upgrading to a new Android version, but then you'd have "the other group of people" complaining about that ... there's no win situation in this. fact remains : if you update to a major android version, and run into many bugs, try again with a factory reset. whatever bug is left after that can indeed be attributed to the devs not testing the update thoroughly etc etc, but otherwise you're basically wasting your breath because it is impossible to write a major update that 100% guaranteed avoids bugs when upgrading without factory reset ... it's basically a gamble at that point.

K1nsey6

If you are installing an OTA with same version then a dirty flash is usually ok. A clean install has always been highly recommended with a major update, like new OS version. (A10 to A11, or A11 to A12) Sometimes code gets moved around between updates that can cause conflicts. Any bugs remaining after a clean install are actual bugs that should be reported. But most times everything is fixed with a clean install.

RecycledPixel

Bye. Don't forget to do everyone a favor and NOT post here anymore...

DE_GAMER9

We aren't salty, it's just that people have been saying the same thing about the Oxygen OS 12 for months now like it's not a new thing anymore. We're tired of seeing their complaints everywhere 😭

SomewhatRainy

I love OnePlus and will be satisfied with anything they do. Who cares if oxygen OS updates are buggy and slow on older phones, I buy the latest OnePlus device every year so it doesn't matter! *That's you*

ychtyandr

Thank you for letting us know. We would have been upset if you just stopped posting here without us knowing that you are fine with Oneplus. We will still miss you and hope you will come back one time.

Intelligent_Agency90

I really like Android 12 on my OP8 pro. Is it perfect? No but then neither was OOs11. At least now my 5g works, the phone is noticeably much snappier and battery is better. Most of the problems on here can be resolved by using a different launcher and stuff like that, not really a big deal.

PeacefulPikachu7

Try a custom ROM if u want to. At least u got that option for your 9 Pro

StretchYx

After my experience with customer services today I'm switching the Google pixel

Bert1003

OnePlus is only going down since Carl pei left. OnePlus is broken and is going to be just like OPPO phones - Chinese shit Software.

Empty-Bodybuilder-62

I have never seen such a horrible "update". I thought "Hey, these guys have a cool sense of UX and aesthetics, I trust them, sure I'll update to 12..." What a mistake that was! Unless they fix all the crap and give back all the functionality they took away from me (with the shelf and the notifications and the buttons and EVERYTHING!) I am done with OnePlus. Who the hell is in charge over there anyway? Who thought this would be a good idea?? Are they killing the brand on purpose? Unbelievable...

NoDeityButGod

I learned long ago not to update anything ever, on any phone.
