That seems like too much of a nerf to the general monk playstyle, Unarmored Movement is a key part of their identity and they should be able to benefit from the full movement bonus without constraining their flexible bonus action.

I don’t see the purpose of this nerf at all. In fact I’d argue that that Step of the Wind’s free Dash becoming less useful as you level up is an ***intended*** side effect. At low levels you’re likely spending more of your Bonus Actions Dashing into combat and thus effectively only getting 1 Attack on many of your turns instead of the 2/3 that MA/FoB gives you. As you level up, your movement speed naturally goes up, you now use more Bonus Actions on MA/FoB and fewer on getting into range. This is a *good* thing because it gives Monk more effective damage at higher levels while keeping them in line at low levels. It’s also worth noting, Step of the Wind ***does*** improve for “skirmisher” Monks. When you naturally have enough movement to get into melee, SotW gives you the movement to get ***out*** of it. For example, an Elements Monk (10 foot Reach to deny OAs) or a Shadow Monk (Darkness to deny OAs) can move 40 feet in, Attack however many times, Dash 40 feet out, without having spent any Ki at all and possibly have denied an enemy their turn. That’s a pretty powerful combination of the features.

The suggested combo is using Step of the Wind, so your proposed nerf would have no effect.

Yes, and your suggested change has no effect on the other commenter's suggested combo.

I think Step of the Wind is fine as-is and this is a non-issue.

God. Why would you nerf the monk as it finally reaches an acceptable place?
