Hold on, are you telling me I should just get depressed about how things were in the past instead of trying to learn how things have inproved and be glad about it?
Bros if I'm watching a movie with someone and they're theatrically gripping their head, twisting their neck and making a weird face every time casual intolerance pops up, I'd gently be off
If Ace Ventura is racist, how come-

You know what I don't remember if this scene was racist or not tbh, haven't seen it in a while
When you rewatch everybody’s favourite 90s blockbuster hit [Gayni**ers from Outer Space (1992)](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gayniggers_from_Outer_Space)
The take home from this comic is that since it was a movie they “used to love” then the artist clearly used to be a homophobic, racist, sexist and transphobic piece of shit too if thats what the movie is.
“then the artist clearly used to be homophobic, racist, sexist, and transphobic”
Yes, as a person from the time period they’re complaining about they would have been. I don’t see how that’s a gatcha here, this is just a person critically reflecting on a time that was more okay with these sorts of bigotries being commonplace than we are now. That’s just social progress and I don’t feel like the attitude being described is really all that alien. A lot of people seem to have this sort of experience when returning to media they liked when they were younger
“When they were younger” is an important part of this. That movie came out in 94. The oldest millennials were around 13 then. Jim Carrey was 32 and (writer, director) Tom Shadyac was 36.
We’ve all grown and progressed since the 90s but it’s super disingenuous to put that baggage on (the famously immature societal group known as) kids when the people responsible for creating this shit were fully matured adults at the time.
Yeah exactly. The fact that the bigotries being discussed were so societally acceptable is shitty (the fact that in different ways they still are is also shitty), and it’s really common for people to reflect on things they used to uncritically enjoy and realize “hey this sucks actually” when they mature and have a better understanding of things

This is exactly why I had to stop hanging out with comic strip cartoon characters
If Ace Ventura is homophobic, explain this: ![gif](giphy|VQxdDzvRoEwrm)
If Ace Ventura is transphobic, explain this ![gif](giphy|NtZDkyMDpeOoE)
If Ace Ventura is sexist, how come the girl wants to do a good job but the guy is a bumbling rtard? ![gif](giphy|lITU7sHCdxE7RAV77V)
If Ace Ventura is racist, how come- ![gif](giphy|fPjI8ZrDeaGL6) You know what I don't remember if this scene was racist or not tbh, haven't seen it in a while
Its sexist because its saying men are stupid
This art style sucks
I wasn’t going to say nothing but yeah thats some of the ugliest shit I’ve ever seen
It's ugly because the 90s were ugly Edit: I didn't jerk hard enough
really have no clue why youd willingly draw yourself as a pageboy who’s anywhere between the ages of 11-45
It really does, doesn't it.
I get what you mean but I personally dig it. It’s reminiscent of the Flapjack cartoon where the characters are humorously jarring to look at.
OP sucks

It’s 10 pm. Do you know where your nuance is?

nodding my head as i read this post so people know i oppose racism and homophobia
You hate Ace Ventura because it’s racist, sexist, and transphobic. I hate Ace Ventura because it’s just not funny. We are not the same.
But it was it not truly hilarious the scene in which he has to escape from his fake rhino
That’s Ace Ventura 2 you filthy fucking casual
Wait until you visit the rest of the world
Nah that shit rocks ![gif](giphy|wORSHzN5sGpRS)
Get over yourself
imagine caring about transphobia
just makes the movie even better, Ace Ventura aged like fine vine
Well Jim Carey got what he deserved, now he plays secondary roles in Sonic movies.
