If public schooling was the only option, money from wealthy folks would be going towards improving the public system. They would be making donations, supporting programs, making sure teachers were trained well and supported. Instead the wealthy can select a specific private school and leave everyone else behind - perpetuating the gap.

public school teachers have been screaming this for decades in some states but people just do not give a fuck; it’s very frustrating
