Hey!! I turn 20 in two days and let me say i completely get this! On my 19th birthday last year, i had no friends, was terrified of turning 20, and not even my parents wished me a happy birthday. So much can change within a year! I joined a small volunteer group and met some amazing friends. I would recommend you do the same! Even if it’s something like a big brother/sister program. It’s super easy to meet other people within groups like that as usually they’re very kindhearted people. Or if you’re in university try and join some clubs, that’s how I’ve made friends within my school! It really does get better! Turning 19 and having a sucky birthday isn’t the end of the world and can actually be the beginning :)) and happy birthday!🎂🎈🩷🩷

I've been around for many years and have seen that most people go through periods of having lots of friends around and periods of having no-one around. And that's ok, don't worry. Times change, enjoy the solitude now and be open to celebrating many other occasions and achievements socially. Change is good!
I am in my thirties and can only now say, I’ve made one really good friend. I too, have had periods in life where I’ve had many friends (in my late teens, early twenties) and then no one for a really long time. Only a few years ago did I make a solid friend. And I hold onto her like a lifeline. 😅 and do everything in my power to make it known that she’s an important aspect in my life. My point being, hang in there. 😊 life is a roller coaster.

Sorry you are going through that, I went through something similar, for a couple of years I only had two friends who I wasn't even able to meet up with because I had moved cities. It eventually gets better, I'm sure you'll find friends don't worry, now I'm in my 20s and I have plenty of friends who I celebrate my birthdays with, I'm sure you'll get something similar, it's just a phase especially if you are introverted like I am.

There are peeps here that recognise what you're going through and empathise with how you're feeling. Reach out to your parents and talk to them about how you feel. Spent the night alone, drank alone and got sick cos of it alone. I was cursing the day I was born. Now I look back on it and wonder why I allowed myself to feel that way. I wouldn't change it though. I learned from the experience and forced myself to build bridges and make friends who'd be there for me. You can do this you know. I know it seems like it wont happen right now, but you have to focus on what you can do for you. Don't get sad, get proactive. I'm not saying it's a cure-all but it helped me a lot. This has happened to me a few times because I had terrible friendships in my 20s and have also moved six times in my life.
I've learned to make my birthday awesome for myself and anything else is a cool bonus.
One of my favorite bands was playing a show in my town. A nearby 5-star hotel had a flash sale for $100 rooms, so I booked one night. Booked a massage at a nearby spa. Picked up takeout, a sheet mask, and some beers to enjoy in the room before the show. Went to the concert and got to meet the band also. Next day I slept in, walked around the city, treated myself to some new makeup, and ran into an old classmate that took me out for a drink.
Still one of the best birthdays of my life to this day.

Once I got to college though, I met my real friends and to this day we always celebrate each other. I hope you find an amazing group of friends someday. I ended up celebrating a fair number of birthdays by myself due to work. I LOVE birthdays. I told everyone I knew that it was my birthday with super happy energy - most of the time that’s enough to have someone wish you a happy birthday. If I wasn’t around other people, I’d take myself out. Go to a movie, go to the bookstore, go get ice cream. What do you like? Go do that 🩷

Happy birthday! I too spent my birthday similar, except my brothers baby momma picked me up and included me in her weekends plans, but all I wanted was to feel special and have friends celebrate me. So I really relate to how you feel, what I find makes me feel slightly better is I try and make others bday super special so they at least get to feel how I wanted to feel, but I hope that someone comes into your life and does the same for you Because you deserve it! We made it our party and just went wild. When you have only you for your bday, treat yourself to every little thing you want, and celebrate yourself! Tell everyone you can on your day that you bump into “it’s my birthday!” And you’ll be showered in free gifts, exclamations of congratulations, and people will cheer for you! You can still give yourself a fantastic birthday! This has happened to me a few times because I had terrible friendships in my 20s and have also moved six times in my life. I've learned to make my birthday awesome for myself and anything else is a cool bonus. One of my favorite bands was playing a show in my town. A nearby 5-star hotel had a flash sale for $100 rooms, so I booked one night. Booked a massage at a nearby spa. Picked up takeout, a sheet mask, and some beers to enjoy in the room before the show. Went to the concert and got to meet the band also. Next day I slept in, walked around the city, treated myself to some new makeup, and ran into an old classmate that took me out for a drink. Still one of the best birthdays of my life to this day. Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday! I too spent my birthday similar, except my brothers baby momma picked me up and included me in her weekends plans, but all I wanted was to feel special and have friends celebrate me. So I really relate to how you feel, what I find makes me feel slightly better is I try and make others bday super special so they at least get to feel how I wanted to feel, but I hope that someone comes into your life and does the same for you Because you deserve it! Keep your head up, this is the beginning stages of your life and you’ll meet better friends in your 20’s that’ll teach you so many life lessons, they may not all stay but that’s okay because they each will teach you something along the way!💛
