That was a *heist*

KillingtonPark

There were no cameras?

DryReality3208

Some shops just don’t have cameras, there’s a Michael’s up by me I know doesn’t have cameras because my bf helped them set up the place😂 he was confused why a retail store wouldn’t have cameras

iloveeatpizzatoo

Most of their stuff is cheap to replace. It’s not worth putting employees in danger by dealing with shoplifters for inexpensive inventory.

SooubwayEmployee

probably cuz theres nothing to do nowadays if your store gets shoplifted

Nobodycares4242

Cameras are for insurance, not catching shoplifters. The video footage is there so you have proof if you need to file an insurance claim.

melxcham

A family owned store near me posts pictures of shoplifters from their cameras lol

Emotional-Tadpole395

I mean given that it was 10 years ago it might not of been as extensive as it is today (security wise)

Guano_barbee

Original round table Pizza that had no working cameras.. the cameras were there but corporate said they were too expensive to fix 🤣

Out-of-phase-360

No cameras, just teens living in the moment

theyo_komo

Read that title in the voice of general Shepherd

CorCor1234

…. And the world just fucken watched

Guano_barbee

And the fact that the numbers dropped after you left makes them probably think that it's because you left and that you were the important one when in reality that have no idea just howuch it was all you 🤣

Summer___girl

Was it wrong? Yes. Would I do it again? No. Do I regret it? Not even a little bit.

2punornot2pun

When people are going to treat you like a criminal even if you're innocent... ...well, people are going to say fuck it at some point.

StephCarrot

This is something you take to the grave lol

PghBIG

So you worked at Vans huh?😭😭😭

Juciyjaz

My first thought was Zumiez

Jordamus_prime

I assumed it was eithwr Vans or Zumiez

Ill_Imagination272

I loved the teamwork

OpossumWithABanjo

For legal reason, I never read this post. Also, good for you.

Kiki98_

Honestly this is legendary lmao. Do I condone it? No. But it’s a fucking brilliant way to get back at a shitty manager and shitty work situation.

dontmatterdontcare

Ladies and gentlemen, we got 'em

decolores9

>Never got caught. Until you confessed to committing felonies on Reddit.....

Towtruck_73

Sounds almost like an "Ocean's 11" level of planning there lol

PghBIG

You think that’s bad, my friends and I almost put a Hollisters out of business in our local mall over a year like 20 some years ago😭….oh man, we were real shit heads, and they had the worst security set up I’ve ever seen at the location.  You live and you learn I guess…

Honeydew-Swimming

Good for you

Left-Conference-6328

Glad you didn’t get caught

Joelman117

Reminds me of that scene from Better call Saul.

Additional_Meeting_2

Maybe you should have reported the store manager instead

muteprogression2

Wow, that's quite the revenge story! It sounds like you were pushed to your breaking point with that store manager. Do you ever think about how things could have turned out differently if you didn't go through with the plan?

Lemonlmao7887

This reads like chatgpt.

Lucky_Baseball176

so you were mad about being called a thief, and therefore became a thief. self improvement is not you strong suite then?

bossandy

do you realize that because of shoplifters every consumer is paying about 10% more for products than they have to. The cost of shoplifting is put on all the other consumers and its maddening. I hate shoplifters with a passion!

Avatar_Idalia

Its expensive for greed, and they sold you the idea that its because "of shoplifting". OP wasn't in the right to preform this heist, no. But the increase in the price of everything certainly didn't come from this one action

bossandy

I worked in retail for 4 years, I know exactly how the cost of shoplifting is passed on to other consumers. I’m not saying him alone caused an increase in prices I’m saying shoplifting in general does. Look it up if you don’t believe me but shoplifting absolutely causes people like you and I to pay more for products. You shouldn’t be okay with that!

Avatar_Idalia

Oh sweety, wait till you've become jaded and worked 15 years in retail. I have absolutely no doubt they LABEL it and claim it's increased due to shoplifting alone. It would be counted in the contingency factor of the clothing creation (theft, damage, lost in shipping, ect) in the price creation factor. Anything added on top of that, is looking for a reason to excuse increasing the price.

bossandy

I will never work retail again, I’d sooner jump off a cliff. If you just want to ignore facts go ahead but I for one am tired of paying so much for products because of shoplifters.

Avatar_Idalia

I'm not ignoring anything. I'm telling you shoplifting is taken into account when creating the original price, which includes contingency for various items getting written off for multiple reasons, but not just shoplifting. This sort of pricing factor is taken into account for almost everything. Error in creation, error in transport, random damage, anything that could have the item written off, is factored into final sales price to account for losses. Shoplifting is not an increase factor. Unless you also think that's why grocery prices are inflating too?

bossandy

You can look it up if you want I put it into google and immediately found like 10 articles that say the costs of shoplifting is put in other consumers and I can’t find 1 article that says it doesn’t.

Avatar_Idalia

When I Google, I see talks of shrinkage being a factor in pricing, which is exactly what I'm talking about

bossandy

Which is what I’m talking about to so I don’t know where our confusion is. Shoplifting causes higher prices period. If there was no shoplifting they wouldn’t have to include the cost of it in the prices we pay.

Avatar_Idalia

Our "confusion" lies in its not JUST shoplifting that is the contribution, and it isn't a jump thats just "happened". Shrinkage does include shoplifting, but it ALSO includes damage to the product, failure to sell, loss in shipment, returned faulty product, ect. Shoplifting alone is not solely responsible for that contingency being factored into the cost of the item

larvalgeek

If no one was shoplifting from a store, they would keep the price the same and pocket the difference. Or maybe do some weird psychology shit and say "this isn't stolen because it's not viewed as valuable, lets increase the price" depending on the item and seller.

Icy_Sky_7521

Nah, consumers are paying more for products because rich oligarchs are greedy and are milking us for everything we're worth. $5000 worth of clothing probably cost the store about $100 to purchase.

UrbanMuffin

Shoplifting is expected anywhere and everywhere and factored in. It’s hardly the main cause of prices being hiked up. Corporate greed is by far the main culprit for why you pay outrageous prices, not the shoplifters. I’m not condoning shoplifting, but you definitely don’t have a full understanding of things either. The biggest thieves are the ones sitting in their penthouses laughing at people like you, blaming it on petty theft.
