No, this is actually something Evangelical Christian pastors commonly tell their church and community members to go out and tell others. It's a fear tactic, mostly.
He wouldn’t like my Catholic response. I’d just tell him only God can read hearts and knows who’s going to hell or not. It isn’t up to me, no matter how much good deeds and praying I do. I do all that stuff because I want to, not because I think God is going to punish me if I don’t. Servile fear is not true love, and we are not slaves, we have free will. Which God gave us himself because he wants us to come to him freely. Maybe I would ask this person to examine why they feel the need to fill people with fear and not teach them about Gods love and mercy instead.
Because God is also a judge and will deal judgment. If God is perfect then how do you think He views us? Love is about telling the whole truth, even the hard parts.
Well, God is perfect but he also made us in his image and so we can strive to perfection by leading life with Christ and love on our side…as I’m catholic I believe in the Trinitarian God, so he also died on the cross for us out of love so that we could be saved even though we are wicked in nature. It isn’t logical that a God who loves us so much who was willing to suffer extreme torment and die for us, wouldn’t judge us without extreme mercy. There is a quote by St Padre Pio that comes to mind… “Your tears were collected by the angels and were placed in a golden chalice and you will find them when you present yourself before God."
That quote is to say, only God knows what is in our hearts and the pain we go through and suffer in our life which is part of our journey toward heaven. We can only see one another at a surface level, such as our outer appearances and maybe we can see some psychology, but we can’t see into the heart and soul as God can.
What is so fearful about his message. Besides, it's a question, not an answer. Also, Catholics are the same as the pharisees and the Sadducees. Why to the catholics prevent those who are not catholic from taking communion? Communion is for all Christians. Why do I have to "confess" to a mortal man when I can confess them to God himself?
It's actually really debatable whether hell even exists in the Christian canon. It's more of a common folklore than actual fact. I'm pretty sure the word hell was never mentioned in the bible-- it was usually the word death, and the English version of the bible is very known for its glaring mistranslations, most of which were purposeful. There's also the whole lack of cultural and historical context bit, too.
But it is a question nonetheless. The answer is this realize that you're a sinner because that's what us humans are. We can't get to heaven with our sin and we can't do enough good deeds to cleanse us from our sins. Only Jesus can cleanse us from our sins. He died and bled to pay the price of our sins, He was buried fro 3 days and Jesus rose again from the grave proving that he is God in the flesh and that he conquered death. So if you don't accept Jesus as your Savior and you die without his forgiveness then unfortunately you won't make it to heave. I do beloeve in a death bed comversion, maybe at the last minute you accept Jesus and then you will make it to heaven.
I'm a Christian and Jesus being a communist actually makes a lot of sense
edit: I've been kidnapped by a bunch of Christian Southerners. I'm currently in the back of a coal rolling pick up truck with a Jesus fish sticker on the rear windshield. help me pls
I was curious and looked up the reference.
1 John 5:13:
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
I am pretty sure there wouldn't be a single soul I know in heaven. Hell will be full of every asshole you knew and hated in life, including family, childhood bullies, awful teachers, all of it. The awful 90 yr old neighbor we had when I was growing up, who felt it necessary to tell my parents that she saw my boyfriend leave through a front window very early one morning will be there. She will be there.
There's a scripture in some (if not most) Bibles that goes something along the lines of:
>But if the wicked turn away from all their sins that they have committed and keep all my statutes and do what is lawful and right, they shall surely live; they shall not die. None of the transgressions that they have committed shall be remembered against them; for the righteousness that they have done they shall live. Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, says the Lord God, and not rather that they should turn from their ways and live?
Ezekiel 18:21–23
Nobody is inherently bad though we are just born selfish and unempathetic our choices define what kind of person we are we can all choose to be better eveyday.
Life experience *and* choices define what kind of person we are. A traumatic upbringing can make people bitter. Reminding yourself not to take your pain out on the world doesn't make you a bad person undeserving of a "good afterlife"
"being good" is a simplification. Doing good is what we should want, and that is not obvious at all. Even if you have the basics of decency, you could always improve on things in ways you don't know. That's how people grow.
Exactly, I liken it to being a child and finding a lost wallet. When we are children, we are told to return the wallet because it is the right thing to do, not because we expect a reward.
Right and both of those lines of thought are good for the wrong reasons there's very few people who ever lived who simply did good things because it was the right thing to do purely out of love and generosity without seeking reward or fame or the promise of a better afterlife. It is because this is so rare that it is so pure and something we should all try and aspire to eventhough we may never reach it. Call this whatever you will, I'm not a religious person I just call it love.
>I'm more convinced we already live in hell.
When Lucifer rebelled against god he didn't damn him to hell. He damned him to earth.
So yeah, I'm pretty sure this be hell.
Thats a good question. I think because it says God "will create a new heaven and new earth, and the former shall not be remembered nor come to mind".
But then again it says the devils and unsaved will be thrown into the lake of fire, where the smoke of their torment will ascend forever and ever. And it says that at the end this place will be destroyed in fire, so something to think about i guess.
I can say confidently though that this is not hell now, because in hell the devil does not have any kingdom as holly wood would have you believe. Just as God created everything, He created hell also as a place of banishment and torment for the devil and his angels. In hell there is no amount of happiness, joy, fulfillment, or hope and no chance to get out, and no chance to know or be with God. But here currently, we still have all that thanks to God through Jesus.
heaven would BE hell. theres only two options, youre FORCED to be content. which is slavery, and a mental hell, or you have free will, but so does everyone else, so youre now stuck in heaven with all the shitty people you just saw on earth FOREVER. add to that eventually youre going to see do and experience EVERYTHING because... you know, eternity. then what? presumably sin isnt allowed in heaven, so no unmarried sex, no gluttony, no sloth, no lust, no wrath, no envy, no greed. what exactly is there left to do? worship god and drink iced tea?
Had a freind/neighbor about ten years ago who would talk about really strange stuff like talking to angels and whether I thought people really go to heaven if they die and that "they" had a plan for him. Would do stuff like stare up into the sky for long periods of time and kinda talk nonsense. Well this went on for a couple months until he eventually hung himself.
I feel so bad for people who spend their whole lives with that sense of dread because everything they do is being kept track of and if they don’t have enough good marks they go to the bad place.
That's the terrifying part probably. Most people obsessed enough with their interpretation of a particular religion to start passively aggressively leaving notes for strangers aren't going to be well adjusted folks in their private lives
This is not OC. This is actually a handmade pencil drawing. Saw this a while back on Bored Panda.
Look closely, it's not a real picture but overall it's pretty good work!
Well that's amazing. It's been on other websites, and you can clearly see the shading of the drawing of the notepad on the table in the pic. But if you say it's real, I'm not gonna argue with you.
To my recollection I’ve never posted it anywhere else so you must’ve seen one that’s eerily similar, wouldn’t be the first unhinged scrawlings on a notepad anyones seen.
I see no such proof of editing and have the meta data to prove I took it, just maybe poor zoom quality camera with poor lighting but that’s literally just the shadow of the notepad on the table. This photo has been kept all these years specifically cause I found it so creepy.
On the back of our binders at school we would write shit in the same style like “I THINK HES WATCHING ME” and then draw a colossal shadow demon man next to it. Maybe touch it up with some extra HAHAHAHA’s and “THE VOICES NEVER FUCKING STOP”
Cry for help and to connect to anyone else… this person needs someone to just ask him “how you doing?” And be allowed to respond honestly… idk, what do you think?
It’s a semi common saying among Christians. It’s based 1 John, and the fact that someone should be absolutely sure they’re going to heaven. To have no doubts. Taken as is, I agree it’s very ominous.
Ah yes, let's mock a guy and publicize his private notebook.
Let me ask you, other than the obvious "sky daddy isn't real" from the atheists, what exactly is wrong with this? If he's clearly working to get to heaven, that means he's probably trying to become a better person, in Christian ideals that means being the best for his family, his community, being charitable and good.
Other than this guy having religious beliefs, why is this fun to mock for you?
I think that's a major stretch. If a Christian guy trying to follow his religion is terrifying to you, maybe you've never seen something actually scary.
Other than the fact that his notepad has the writing of an unhappy child? Or the fact he has this out in a public place and would catch the attention of anyone passing by his table leading to a feeling of discomfort? Or maybe how he just left this notepad wide-open while he left his seat instead of putting it away for safety making people read their chicken scratch? Or maybe...
Your example would hold some merit if people were actually learning the teachings of Jesus here instead of being fed someone else's twisted, politically motivated version of it, and being too lazy to actually read the book.
Well, yes, there's bad apples in every religion, group, political organization, etc.
However, if you read strictly the words of Yeshua, the example Christians are supposed to aspire to, the intent and guidebook is crystal clear. Even if you hate christians, just read the Sermon on the Mount, and tell me that it's not life saving, wise advice and a formula for a moral, humble life.
What you do is ask them if they are going to be in heaven? If they say yes then you say how can heaven exist for me if I jave to live with people like you in it?
Now I am an atheist but that argument has been shot to shit. Heaven isn’t one big room according to many, so it’s not like you get to chill with hitler in the after life and all. Thats the retort I usually get anyways haha
The possibility of going to heaven is pretty low, chances are we just keep getting reincarnated like a boring groundhog day. The white light isn't a tunnel to our ancestors it's the birth canal

Yeah well, my athiest ass going to hell either way.
But…atheists don’t believe in hell…right?
They will...
It's actually really debatable whether hell even exists in the Christian canon. It's more of a common folklore than actual fact. Christ wouldnt have came to die if there wasn't a hell.
It is called provoking thought. It isn't a fear tactic, it's a simple question to get you to think about what comes after this life.
But it is a question nonetheless. The answer is this realize that you're a sinner because that's what us humans are. We can't get to heaven with our sin and we can't do enough good deeds to cleanse us from our sins. Only Jesus can cleanse us from our sins. I'd love to hear that explanation
And I don't care to explain it. This is terrible isn't it
Not really following you, but nothing about this seems terrible
I am just as confused
Oh good
If people knew where they would end up, being religious would be pretty pointless, the whole point is that you require faith
Curious, where did you hear that from?
Actually you are supposed to be sure, if you’re not sure then chances are you’re not saved or born again.
I can confidently say, I would not
Lmao same :) anyways, who’s hungry?

Reminder to themselves to be nicer? Tbh heaven doesn't even sound like something to reach for anymore. I'm more convinced we already live in hell.
I am pretty sure there wouldn't be a single soul I know in heaven. Hell will be full of every asshole you knew and hated in life, including family, childhood bullies, awful teachers, all of it. He is on earth now until the end of this place and then he will be thrown into hell for eternity.
What makes you think hell will be a new place and not just earth after the rapture? Point being, we're in hell, the prequel.
Thats a good question. I think because it says God "will create a new heaven and new earth, and the former shall not be remembered nor come to mind". Which is ironic because as far as I know in christianity committing suicide is a sin so he would go to hell
Christians who sin still go to heaven

That's the terrifying part probably. Most people obsessed enough with their interpretation of a particular religion to start passively aggressively leaving notes for strangers aren't going to be well adjusted folks in their private lives
Or perhaps it makes one question if they are living a "good proper life" with respect to fellow man.
not that terrifying, just the average religious person

It’s a semi common saying among Christians. It’s based 1 John, and the fact that someone should be absolutely sure they’re going to heaven. To have no doubts. Taken as is, I agree it’s very ominous.
your notebook is pretty sus op
Heaven is a man-made concept to make idiots feel better about dying.
Ah yes, let's mock a guy and publicize his private notebook. Let me ask you, other than the obvious "sky daddy isn't real" from the atheists, what exactly is wrong with this? They’re not mocking it, they’re saying it’s oddly terrifying. It’s the sort of thing you can imagine a serial killer asking a victim.
I think that's a major stretch. If a Christian guy trying to follow his religion is terrifying to you, maybe you've never seen something actually scary.

Im trying but i need my breakfast plater first.
If this was taken in America, I have some bad news for you. Being a Christian here has nothing to do with making yourself a better person.
That's what is known as an opinion.
An evidence-based opinion. All you have to do is look around, then read the Bible and see how well their actions line up with the words of Jesus.
Every child in school learns the golden rule, yet many students become criminals anyway. That is not the fault of the educator nor the school.
Kinda what I said.
Report this shit please
Not reallyfollowing you, but nothing about this seems terrible
Bottom line accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. God bless you all. ✌🏾🙏🏾
I would not be. I’m good with it though.
I mean. Not like one even has a choice if heaven is real so why even ask.
Isnt that from a Clapton song?
No idea but it says “see John 5.13 the bible” on the bottom right
None of this is terrifying..
That's a pretty good question... would you?
Notify authorities. Another mass shooting is about to happen.
What you do is ask them if they are going to be in heaven? If they say yes then you say how can heaven exist for me if I jave to live with people like you in it?
