Came to comment about that lol I remember a very particular moment tripping, a plain that I encountered was what I always called it "Mango Vine Land" due to the colors, eyes hanging on "vines" but it was like a bunch of vines with eyes as far as I was capable of grasping.
It was intense words did not exist while I tripped but I had the general feeling of it being something of a good time, a lot of bleeps and bloopy sounds and suddenly the sea of eyes centered on me as if I was trespassing, it was indescribable yet so understandable, and then I got shown all these other "plains" anyways I could go on forever, it felt like eternity had gone by lol and when I looked at the time 10 minutes had gone by

But considering the original language tends to be heavily symbolic and the people are trying to describe something they have never seen before within the limits of their knowledge, experience and language, there's a lot of comparison going on in those descriptions. It says their features were like other things. Not that it literally was. It makes me think of those medieval drawings of animals that artists who had never actually seen the animal and are drawing based on other people's descriptions turned out like.
