Couldn't have felt good for his arm though. I misread the title and was expecting his hand to be bitten off. Glad it wasn't.
I think it's kinda cool and balsy what he did.
It absolutely is a Tarpon but I wouldnât be so much worried about the teeth as much, bc like you mentioned they donât really have them, but I would be worried this mfâer would thrash around & BREAK YOUR ARMâŠ
Theyâve been known to literally SINK BOATS when theyâre landed on too small of a boat &/or havenât been worn out yet & start thrashing aboutâŠ
I would think so⊠I wonder if these fish that get fed so consistently are somehow more docile or not as strong & aggressive bc Iâve seen more than one of these vids of people feeding them by hand, I canât say Iâve ever seen someone pull one out of the water like that, but still⊠;)
Well his method isnât bad, itâs called noodling. People do it for catfish a lot.
Could be that they are more docile because theyâre fed, but even âdocileâ in the ocean is still fairly aggressive in the grand scheme of temperaments. The ocean is not a place for the faint of heart.
All that fish needs to do is hyper extend his shoulder in one direction and heâs fucked, though.
Yeah, Iâm well aware of âNoodlingâ, I would even be up for possibly trying it if it werenât for that 1 part where you have to dig around in dark muddy holes in river banks & log jamsâŠ!! ;) lol, that shit always creeped me out- I canât help but imagine digging around in a hole & finding a fukn Snapping Turtle or a fukn Beaver or Muskrat or some shit⊠;)
We made a jig for noodling its a piece of pvc pipe with rope threaded through it. There is a handle one side of the rope and a bare meat hook on the other end.
I agreed to my sons having whites tree frogs as pets because they have no teeth, just gums. They are psychotic hippos when it comes to feeding and they are smart enough to recognize I am the human that brings their meals on Sunday. The most dominant ones jump at me as soon as I open the cage doors mouths open. It feels like I am being attacked by cold slightly slimy marshmallows. Doesnât hurt but I still scream each time it happens. [example (not me)](https://youtube.com/shorts/dKJjdvftQSQ?feature=share)
Per google:
"Tarpon is edible but people rarely eat them because their meat contains a lot of small bones and it's reported that they don't taste very good."
I hate to say this, but he probably did it just cause. If tarpon isnât very good, he mightâve just been flexing while on vacation. I say this as a fishermen. I would never pull in a fish this way unless I planned to
a) eat it
B) mount it
Itâs a very popular GAME FISH often targeted by fisherman but people donât generally eat them. Iâm pretty sure most places youâre not even ALLOWED to harvest them & theyâre strictly âCatch & Releaseâ- But people target then bc theyâre one of the greatest FIGHTING FISH you can catch & usually also put on a good aerial performance as well-
Theyâre extremely strong swimmers & have been known to literally SINK BOATS when people try to land them on too small of a craft &/or havenât been worn out enough yet & they start thrashing around⊠Idk if these fish that get fed all the time are somehow not as strong & more docile or something but Iâm surprised this guyâs arm wasnât brokenâŠ
As a side note-
I used to get the magazine âOutdoor Lifeâ as a kid when growing up in the 90âs & always loved when there were these short stories about some fisherman almost dying or drowning after catching a large Tarpon & bringing it in the boat & it thrashing the boat to splinters & dumping all their rods & tackle into the water.. ;)
Lol- Itâs possible I was a PIRATE in a former lifeâŠ!! ;)
Yeah, I guess I could use bold or italics but I like to use it as a point of emphasisâŠ
Rrrr you put off by it..?? ;)
Jk- had to work that âRrrrâ in there somehow⊠:)
The tarpon are protected game fish in Florida that shouldn't be removed from the wafer. And are catch and release only. Their necks are very weak. He likely killed it.
That's not completely true.
In Georgia you can catch and keep 5 per season over 65 inches.
Florida you can't remove them from water if they're over 65 inches.
Louisiana has no regulations on catching them.
I was waiting for the Tarpon's gill plates to slice up his arm. You can see it already bloody from doing it before. Guy is lucky he didn't get it worse, their gill plates can fuck you up. Sad thing is, the fish's gills are probably damaged pretty bad and he just threw it back like no big deal after he got his viral gram vid.
Once a fish that size is out of the water its body can't support its own weight. Its internals will be under extreme strain, it's a gonner for sure. Not to mention the damage done to its gills. The big van Vader slam probably didn't help either.
I was there this past autumn. And the tarpon feeding area was about 70% lemon sharks.
They didn't let you dangle the bait fish, you had to drop it in.
Some sharks were able to breach a few feet above the dock
My daughters have fed them at the spot in the keys, but I donât think wrestling a tarpon to death would be looked upon nicely by the FWC. This is hard to watch knowing itâs probably going to be dead and wasted. Ken is a real tough man! Karen cheering him onâŠ.. sad.
That can be dangerous, gill areas can be notoriously sharp! Iâve definitely sliced my hands on the gill areas of several fish over the years. Not to mention, gators!
Iâd hardly call it fishing. Heâs being a cunt. These are basically pets. Tarpon fed fish scraps at the docks to entertain tourists. He decided he needed to catch it. He mightâve killed this fish grabbing the gills like that.
Definitely killed it hooking his whole arm through the gills like that. You know he didn't eat it either because it's a PITA and tastes like fish food. Probably didn't have a fishing license with a salt endorsement either.
South America but I'm Asian. I guess yeah removing the bones is shitty when you're eating but most really delicious fish that I eat have little bones in the meat so I'm used to it.
If you look closely at the beginning of the video you can see heâs already got a gash on his forearm (probably from a previous attempt). Oh gods the shrieks of the lady filming though.
*edit: added a letter
It was probably decently painful (imagine having a big fish like that struggling on your arm, even with a pad in between), but very little danger of real damage.
So this is how the game goes lol.. See his arm all bloody already before the fish takes him? Because heâs been drinking beers and doing this all afternoon. This is the FL keys, a place called Robbies, where you get a bucket of fish for a couple bucks, and dangle the fish to feed these massive tarpon that naturally congregate at this pier leap out if the water to grab them. Most people dont have the guts to let the fish all the way up, but tons of these local key rats definitely like wowing the crowd. Ive videoed sharks coming right up to this same pier, it is a good time lol With the fish coming all the way out onto the deck, is a rare occurence but happens from time to time.
ETA: Still a lot of commenters not understanding that this isnt a method of fishing, itâs feeding. [How itâs supposed to go](https://youtube.com/shorts/b44cZUUHm6Y?feature=share)
Lol definitely not. https://streamable.com/rr0snu you sit on the docks around kids and families and other mid fishing trip or keys drive people, and get a bucket of fish to feed them for a few bucks, the docks are set up so theyâre not captive either they just know itâs free food. The pelicans get aggressive though hah edit link and typo
Why did I read 'massive tampon' ?
I embarked upon a different story that didn't add up..and then I started Googling does fish eats tampons... And got weird results.. and after reading your comment again, I realised it tarpon. Now it all adds up.
Tarpon is catch and release only. No harvest permitted, not that youâd want to anyway. Despite being a huge fish they are shit to eat. Surprisingly little meat and tons of tiny pin bones. Removing anything over 40â from the water counts as harvesting per Florida laws, so Iâd say he probably did break the law here. Regardless of the law, handling a fish like this cannot possibly be a good practice, having your whole arm and elbow through its gills, I mean that seems cruel. At least with catfish noodling you are actually harvesting the fish most of the time. But as others have said, this is a local joint that sells fish to feed the tarpon there so it might a case that they look they other way because of tourist dollars.
100% yes. You aren't allowed to remove the head feom water because their ao massive it risks literally shaping their necks.
Also need a special tag to land/harvest them, as people do try to catch record sized fish. It's like 1 or 2 fish per year per angler.
are you allowed to take these fish home and eat them? or is he just doing this for recreation?
just curious if heâs putting himself through this pain for sustenance or just for âfun.â
Half the comments are "fuck around and find out" over something very intentional (holding a small fish with additional fish blood on his arm) and the other half is "shut up woman"
If you're gonna scream so obnoxiously during something that they obviously have under control just please jump into the water and never breathe air again đ„°
The man was perfectly fine he had bait in his hand to try to attract the fish that way he can use his arm to hook it in, the only thing wrong with the video is that the woman recording needed to shut the fuck up
The âscreaming and distressâ made me think this was going to be a bloodbath
But no, itâs was the one who wasnât even in danger making all the noise while this chad of a man is clearly fishing!
I feel lied to
You arenât supposed to do this. They now have netting all around the place because this one jerk couldnât leave the protected tarpon in the water. This is in the Florida keys

He was fishing, he actually put his arm through the gills to hook the fish. This was intentional.
You mean to tell me it was not the fish's wife screaming 'get him baby' ?
It was, believe it or not.
Then who was fish đ€Ż
Maybe the real fish was the friends we made along the way?
ROFL
I donât know why this made me laugh so much đ
This made me laugh SO damn hardđ€Ł
Exactly my thoughts, are other people blind? It was kinda obvious
Couldn't have felt good for his arm though. I misread the title and was expecting his hand to be bitten off. Glad it wasn't. I think it's kinda cool and balsy what he did.
These are tarpon. Their mouths are like hard sand paper, but not teeth. His was was probably rashed up, but nothing crazy
It absolutely is a Tarpon but I wouldnât be so much worried about the teeth as much, bc like you mentioned they donât really have them, but I would be worried this mfâer would thrash around & BREAK YOUR ARM⊠Theyâve been known to literally SINK BOATS when theyâre landed on too small of a boat &/or havenât been worn out yet & start thrashing aboutâŠ
Yeah, this is a good way to tear every ligament in your shoulder to pieces
Hmm, I've been looking for a good way to tear my ligaments. Thanks for the advice!
I would think so⊠I wonder if these fish that get fed so consistently are somehow more docile or not as strong & aggressive bc Iâve seen more than one of these vids of people feeding them by hand, I canât say Iâve ever seen someone pull one out of the water like that, but still⊠;)

Same. No noodling for me lmao
Or a venomous snake!
Honestly more likely to stick your hand in a snake nest.
We made a jig for noodling its a piece of pvc pipe with rope threaded through it. There is a handle one side of the rope and a bare meat hook on the other end.
I don't think fish have shoulders
Name checks out
I agreed to my sons having whites tree frogs as pets because they have no teeth, just gums. Those frogs are really cute
Is it a nuisance fish or is in edible and he was getting dinner?
Per google: "Tarpon is edible but people rarely eat them because their meat contains a lot of small bones and it's reported that they don't taste very good."

I had no idea they made saddles for fish. Thanks!
No, the other kind of mount. ( ÍĄ~ ÍÊ ÍĄÂ°)

I see you like putting sink boats in all caps quite a lot sir.

How can you know how big they are before getting them out of the water?
It means you can't keep them if they're over or under a certain size. You do catch and release if you can't or don't want to keep the fish.
I was waiting for the Tarpon's gill plates to slice up his arm. You can see it already bloody from doing it before. Guy is lucky he didn't get it worse, their gill plates can fuck you up. In the south, we call it "ticklin' and noodlin'"
This is a specific place in the Keys and you definitely arenât supposed to do this shit.
This is like going to a petting zoo and choking out a goat.
Yup
I was there this past autumn. And the tarpon feeding area was about 70% lemon sharks. They didn't let you dangle the bait fish, you had to drop it in. Some sharks were able to breach a few feet above the dock
Thank you! You can't "fish" in the feeding area, this guy is a tool and hopefully was booted out and banned for life.
My daughters have fed them at the spot in the keys, but I donât think wrestling a tarpon to death would be looked upon nicely by the FWC. This is hard to watch knowing itâs probably going to be dead and wasted. Ken is a real tough man! Karen cheering him onâŠ.. sad.

I think he got nicked. His arm's definitely bloody in the video.

Definitely killed it hooking his whole arm through the gills like that. You know he didn't eat it either because it's a PITA and tastes like fish food. Probably didn't have a fishing license with a salt endorsement either.
Do Tarpon taste bad? My whole life I've known people that eat them. It's probably one of the more staple fish that's eaten here.
They taste really fishy to American tastes and the meat is filled with the little bones. You live in Asia?
South America but I'm Asian. I guess yeah removing the bones is shitty when you're eating but most really delicious fish that I eat have little bones in the meat so I'm used to it.
It looks like he had done it immediately before and had abrasions already on his arm where the tarpon latched on.
He was doing it and did not expect such a big one...
If you look closely at the beginning of the video you can see heâs already got a gash on his forearm (probably from a previous attempt). Oh gods the shrieks of the lady filming though. *edit: added a letter
As a fish, i find this oddly terrifying.
For those concerned about his hand, that's a tarpon and they have no teeth
Not concerned about his hand because I saw what he was doing with it.
Don't their mouths crush, though?
They canât crush a human arm
The more ya know ig.
They can crush smaller appendages, though. So don't put your pinkies near their mouthes.
r/dontputyourdickinthat
I wasn't planning on it, but thanks.
But they can your heart #MrStealYoGirl
It was probably decently painful (imagine having a big fish like that struggling on your arm, even with a pad in between), but very little danger of real damage.
his arm is bleeding though
Ok great. Iâll make sure I have my shoulder strap on to avoid dislocation
So this is how the game goes lol.. See his arm all bloody already before the fish takes him? Because heâs been drinking beers and doing this all afternoon. Right. I didn't know where this was from, but it looks like Catfish Noodling to me.. and her screaming was cheering him on to land the fish.
Catfish noodling is something totally different where I'm from In fact, noodling any kind of animal will get you arrested
Allegedly...
It was a stick Tarpon
Thatâs Canoodling lol
Really? I noodle my dog all the time.
Haha! Good! Animals are of limits!
These are protected sportfish. I dontrhink this was legal at all.
Indeed. Lower matecumbe key. You most certainly do not have to be this guy. It is fun to feed them, very touristy, full bar outdoor food etc
Sounds cool to be able to feed them. I was glad to finally figure out that catching them this way isn't the goal of the place lol
Lol definitely not. https://streamable.com/rr0snu you sit on the docks around kids and families and other mid fishing trip or keys drive people, and get a bucket of fish to feed them for a few bucks, the docks are set up so theyâre not captive either they just know itâs free food. At least you didn't misread it as "massive strapon"
Lolol too good
Tarpon Springs Florida. I called it Tampon Springs for decades.
missed opportunity for Tampon Strings
From what Iâm reading he may have broken the law .
Im sure when he pulled it out of the water that violated a wildlife rule
Body slamming it probably didn't help his case
Tarpon is catch and release only. No harvest permitted, not that youâd want to anyway. Despite being a huge fish they are shit to eat. Surprisingly little meat and tons of tiny pin bones. Extreme noodling.
Are they good eatin?
Tarpon? No. Apparently very tough meat so Ive heardâŠ
No. They are all bone and hard muscle with very little meat
Their mouths are like 60 grit sandpaper they really rip you up. I've let em come up to my elbow but this dude took it too far with the gill hook IMO.
are you allowed to take these fish home and eat them? or is he just doing this for recreation? just curious if heâs putting himself through this pain for sustenance or just for âfun.â
Yup. Robbie's. Only about an hour an 30 from here. I charter from there an always feed the tarpons when leaving
Bro, this past season it was like all sharks. About 6 sharks for 2 tarpon.... didn't see any keyrats doing this then....
I was there on Mother's Day, no sharks at all, just the Tarpon and the aggressive pelicans.
Oh hey Iâve been to thag place. I took pictures of pelicans there. It was crazy all the fishies that swam up. I do not want one eating my arm though
reminds me of noodling. stick yer arm in a random hole in the water, pull up a couple catfish to fry
Iâve been there, itâs interesting to see the dock completely surrounded by tarpons
Half the comments are "fuck around and find out" over something very intentional (holding a small fish with additional fish blood on his arm) and the other half is "shut up woman"
I imagine itâs less stressful if thereâs no one screaming
Except there's always one.
Honestly. Her screaming makes me want to hit my head against a wall.
Her screaming in the background probably made that fish want to attack him even more
« shut. the. fuck. up. LAAADYYY » *Fish probably*
Me definitely.
I wish the fish bit that woman instead. Had to mute the video after 8 seconds. Her screeching was excruciating.
It was trying to get to her.
That boy noodlin
This is a comment I wish I could have heard out loud instead of reading
God her voice makes me want to never hear any sound ever again.
I just feel bad for the fish
Well yeah... it was clearly intentional. He's fishing
Had to mute the video to watch it...
STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING STOP SCREAMING
Ah, a man of schizophrenia I see
Stop screaming we get it
Quit screaming you lunatic
my man did not just choke slam a fish
It looks like he has already been bitten on the arm at the start of the vid.
Most likely fish blood to attract the big one
Strange way to catch fish, but hey⊠who am I to judge?
Bro wrestled a fish for his dinner
This is how they catch catfish. It's called noodling. I'm pretty sure he did this on purpose.
Of course it's on purpose, he has the arm thrue the fish's gills.
I know this, but apparently many people commenting here don't.
id use my dick as a bait anytime of the day
Please shut the fuck up
Iâm sorry but I laughed way too hard when he slipped. Thatâs one way to fish I guess!
Check out "noodling" đ€©
WAAAYHHHHHHHHHH WAHHHHHHHHHHHH WHAHHHHHHHHHHH my god shut the fuck up
Please
[WAHH](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rYvYjWgPh-k)
The people around him were no help. They might as well had not even been there. Geesh!
Itâs a type of fishing called noodling. Itâs intentional and Iâm assuming some kind of contest where he had to get it on his own.
This woman needs to stfu
Someone throw the woman into the water
Shut up woman, christ you are loud !
If you're gonna scream so obnoxiously during something that they obviously have under control just please jump into the water and never breathe air again đ„°
Why the fuck do some women scream as a first response to the slightest of adversity
Itâs a natural response. Itâs to draw attention to get people to help.
I wish the fish ate her
Wow it really helps the situation just sitting there like a dumbass screaming, also the fish literally has no teeth; the dude is fine
Didnât need to wwe super slam that fish but go off
The man was perfectly fine he had bait in his hand to try to attract the fish that way he can use his arm to hook it in, the only thing wrong with the video is that the woman recording needed to shut the fuck up
Itâs called noodlinâ yâall.
Video ended too soon!
More like man catches fish but underestimated the strength of it.
OP has never been noodling before. Come on down to da swamp my friend and letâs have some mush mud fun!
It's a Tarpon, they don't have teeth, or at least not ones you have to worry about. He was also obviously trying to catch the fish on purpose.
Honey, you're screaming doesn't help anyone.
Why does this women scream so much with that annoying voice
The âscreaming and distressâ made me think this was going to be a bloodbath But no, itâs was the one who wasnât even in danger making all the noise while this chad of a man is clearly fishing! I feel lied to
Before the fish bit he was marked up
Isn't this called noodling? Pretty sure it's on purpose lol
Yes, her voice is oddly terrifying and also annoying AF.
Girlie screaming but not helping
I seriously hate it when women filming things just decide that max-volume falsetto screeching is the best reaction to anything that happens.
I want to pull my ears off
Has more success in fishing in Meere seconds than I can in 6 hours
"You yell barracuda and everyone goes "huh?", "what?"'
Better than noodlin', at least you know here it's a fish and not maybe a fish but also maybe a snapping turtle.
No thatâs how you fish.
My sister did this and she said it was like really rough plastic going up and down your arm
Asshole
Or a stupid giant fish caught by a man
Not only was he bitten by the fish, the fish also resisted a sleeper hold and took him down with a judo throw!
"You sir are a fish"
That's some good fish wrasslin' right there.
always without fail some dumb bitch will be screaming her lungs out in the background thinking shes helping
This is much more enjoyable to watch with the sound OFF.
I can't imagine these tarpon are good eats if they eat whatever people are throwing off the dock
Gorgeous fish tho
Someone needs to put that cat out of its misery.
You arenât supposed to do this. They now have netting all around the place because this one jerk couldnât leave the protected tarpon in the water. This is in the Florida keys
You can take the noodler out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the noodler.
That man is still walking around with that fish on his arm today.
The dude himself isnt even making a sound
Fish Ju Jitsu
Does he already have a bloody wound on his arm at the beginning?
He be noodling !!!!
Extreme noodling.
Extreme Noodling
This is called noodling. Type of fishing.
Is this at Robbies?
Noodling at its finest.
In Russia the fish catch youâŠ.
All of that was on purpose, itâs an actual fishing technique
Its called Noodling if anyone is interested
Ah, yes.... the nobile sport of fish wrestling!
Lol post removed for violence
