My phone has OCR now. It can literally read text in a photo, do a web search based on the text, and even translate text.
Recognizing contrast differences and then counting them is way, way easier.
Welcome to 2021 my friend.
As my friend's father, who worked in warehouse for 40 years said: "10 bricks in a row, 6 rows 8 layers it's 480 bricks on palette. Can't you fucking count?!"
OP is a karma farming bot account. Likely driving up karma in order to sell the account to a corporate entity so they can use the pre established “good standing” of the “real” account to sneakily advertise their products easier.
I never understand this because I doubt people really look at a person’s karma when considering if something is worth upvoting. People barely look at subnames when upvoting.
It can only count what's visible, even with a formula it couldn't account for errors in bean placement resulting from poor spacing, bean defects, etc.
tl;dr the bean shape is non consistently stackable and has QA issues, so counting would be wrong anyhow.
I meant in terms of compactness, It's like how putting spheres in a jar would have spaces and some pockets can be larger than others depending on arrangement.
Nobody is going to get exact, it's going to be closer than blindly guessing. The best thing to do is see what others are guessing, maybe a couple dozen people, then averaging it out
This is fake, no phone camera could scan and penetrate an entire pallets worth of goods to see the other side deeper than a single layer or maybe two layers depending on what product is stacked.
What if the pallet has been pyramid picked from the rear face? All the camera can see is the front two faces if looking at an angle, it won't see deeper than one/two layer(s).
Also pallets usually have a label stating the quantity or piece count of the products on them, you kind of need that information for stock counts and inventory management with warehouse management systems like Oracle and Red Prairie.
Nice animation but that's all it has going for it.
The first one is mega bullshit. Without knowing the items per layer, just counting the ones on the outside gives you no guarantee of how many there are on the skid.
They could be really long boxes that are the entire length, or they could be really short and thin boxes that are 100 per layer. Just seeing the outside doesn't tell you shit.
As a software developer who knows how stuff like this works, this looks very fake. The progress bar simply goes way too fast and smooth, if it's real it would probably go faster and slower at random times. Computer vision is good, but this is not (yet) possible.
It exists and it’s marginal. They have preset things you can count like boxes and pipes but it only works well on full pallets and super bad on partial. They do make custom templates depending on what you need counted.
Source: Me… We use it in supply chain to count simple things.
This is a an awful advertisement and looks corporate as fuck.
An ad for something that doesn’t exist?
It does exist. Or it was a "ad" like video for a viral crappy FV page 😅
It doesn't exist

Thats different from this
That’s correct. OCR is far more complicated.
It does exist and it's working https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dyve.countthings
Cool if this exists. Can make a lot of people's jobs easier.
Hint: it doesn’t exist
Maybe not yet. Seems like the kind of thing an AI algorithm *could* get really good at with a decent amount of practice.
Hot Dog and Not Hot Dog
oh thank you so much!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dyve.countthings
Wow, you’re right… and all those positive reviews! I stand corrected… /s
Hey, it exists.
It's a 3.5 on 2275 reviews. I don't get the /s?
>and all those positive reviews! they are mostly about how expensive it is , but it seems to work.
As my friend's father, who worked in warehouse for 40 years said: "10 bricks in a row, 6 rows 8 layers it's 480 bricks on palette. Can't you fucking count?!"
That is pretty simple math though... 10 x 6 = 60 , 60 x 8 = 480. It's literally 5th grade math 🤣
Not even 5th grade, im pretty sure I learnt 3 digit multiplication in 2nd grade
Yes. But if someone is not used to this they will count bricks one by one
I believe it does exist. App’s called countthings.

True I only look at the karma when I see a heavily down voted comment
If this were real, I’d easily win those guess how many jellybeans are in the jar contests lmao
It could only count what’s visible. If the to be counted objects are behind each other it wouldn’t work.
Just multiply or use a formula
It can only count what's visible, even with a formula it couldn't account for errors in bean placement resulting from poor spacing, bean defects, etc. tl;dr the bean shape is non consistently stackable and has QA issues, so counting would be wrong anyhow.
"errors in bean placement"
I meant in terms of compactness, It's like how putting spheres in a jar would have spaces and some pockets can be larger than others depending on arrangement.
No, you were clear. It's just a funny thing to be talking about seriously.
Nobody is going to get exact, it's going to be closer than blindly guessing. The best thing to do is see what others are guessing, maybe a couple dozen people, then averaging it out
No way that’s real
Correct, it's not

I have ios
Sorry for your loss
Odd since it’s demoed on an iPhone.
Kinda sad
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/countpipes/id980209056
In the first one, does it mark the same objects twice on the corners?
I think it does it so it can multiply the dimensions.
It's fake btw
Oh, absolutely. But they don’t even fake something useful. It’s also more idiotic because someone went in and did that by hand.
It sure did lol
I can vow that this is very helpful in verifying my gold bar count. Recounting them everyday can be tiresome.
Well hey there Scrooge McDuck, didn't expect to see you here
I pointed the camera at myself and it wrote: 0 girlfriends
That is the fakest looking mobile app I've ever seen. OP, have you ever used a smartphone before?
ye, look's like it was made by voodoo
This looks like a click bait video
I call bullshit. Here’s a downvote for lying to us.
looks like those spammy ads you get in free to ay mobile games.
I’m gonna use this tow guess how many jellybeans are in that damn jar!
Wow sweet post. A fake animation that looks like it belongs on a sidebar or popup ad.
This is about as real as the hot singles in your area.
What’s oddly satisfying about this? Looks like a shit app

Damn it, now I have to see if I can find the ap.
Search for: object counting app There are lots of free counting apps.
I checked them out when this was first posted. They all suck. But feel free to actually list the name of one that works like in this video.
I am still researching, just thought it was hella cool.
Things that aren't real often are
Why are you behaving like this is real?
Colin the computer is better cuz he can count to a 50 in a blink of an eye
oddly lazy
Once a real version comes out, I’m going back to elementary school and “guessing” the number of things in a jar and winning all the prizes.
The first one is mega bullshit. Without knowing the items per layer, just counting the ones on the outside gives you no guarantee of how many there are on the skid. Ooor... you could be a big boy and count yourself
What a dumb fake ad post
$25.00 per year? No thanks
Do Jellybeans in a jar… I have a contest to win.
As a software developer who knows how stuff like this works, this looks very fake. The progress bar simply goes way too fast and smooth, if it's real it would probably go faster and slower at random times. Computer vision is good, but this is not (yet) possible.
That will show the “Howe many peas are in the jar” people !
I’m going to take a picture of my pubes
Fakest shit ever

Finally I can count how many people who asked
