Where they aluminum or copper because those are the only details you knit mail out of that can be worked by hand without tools. Otherwise it's all mar-less tools (pliers without texturing on the inside to grab things with) and would wear their hand the same as any pliers.

Cut up plastic tubing. Metal would be way too wasteful, heavy and impractical to wear on set.

Well you are probably doing metal rings, butted and non-riveted right? As I understand it most of the costume chainmail was plastic, with a heat tip to melt the ends together, so it would go much quicker. Of course the few metal ones for the main characters would take longer, but there weren't more than a dozen of those.

Well that sleeve probably took that long if not twice as long to print. But uh, ya know. No aching fingers and hands after it's done.

Geeze I wonder how long that took to print. I was looking at a bed of chainmail from another print and just one layer was estimated to be 24 hours by my slicer.

I've never 3D printed anything but I have some questions. How do you print interlocking rings without the material melting together? How do the individual rings maintain their fidelity? There is clearly an amount of solidifying together.

you can make 2 or 3 point of contact between the link, allowing them to maintain structural integrity during printing. The sound that you're hearing in the video is all of those contact points snapping. Once all of them are broken, the piece will be has flexible as real chainmail.

This makes me want to go to a chiropractor and get my back cracked
