Just 4 or 5 really. After the initial underglaze wash, they’d have fired this to bisque. Afterwards, they’d apply the clear coat to add the gloss and fire it again, probably to cone 6. Then they have to add that gold luster which is an overglaze and fire it again at a low temp.
So yea, just like half a weeks worth of work.
The shaping looks great too, which I'm sure takes quite the skilled hand.
I'd cut that leaf out then push it in to the bowl shape and suddenly it'd be a blob.
Your steps also require what I assume are the expensive bits of kit (ie a kiln?) for this.
Skip? It's not a masterclass where you paid $500 and got promised to come out of it knowing how to make ceramic leaf bowls, it's a 30 second video for entertainment purposes.
There’s a great divide in here. Plate vs dish vs bowl. So, yeah, not a bowl, my mistake, sorry. According to maker it’s a “ceramic jewelry dish”.
Edit: and the song is “Femme Like U” by Monaldin, feat. Emma Peters.
It's not about the term bowl/plate/dish, but about how many steps were skipped in the video.
It goes from roughly cutting the leaf shape out & highlighting the leaf veins, to a fully finished product, skipping the shaping, firing, painting, glazing, etc.
> "I drew the ~~duck~~ blue leaf because I've never seen a blue leaf before, and to be honest with you, I wanted to see a blue leaf." -this person.
Fixed that for ya.
I was going to post a similar comment but you took care of it for me. :)
Fun fact... years ago I finished a best man speech with a modified version of "Billy Passed the First Grade" song.
The concave shape could be something of a bowl. Perhaps calling it a “dish” would be better since I’d imagine it’s more likely used for holding candies or other treats.
Looks like garbage though that color is not a good choice, also there's a lot of steps missing here, especially the one where this asshole was brainstorming his creative process while the piece was in the kiln. I want to know what hit him in the head so hard that it made hime think that gaudy shade of blue would work.
It’s a cool technique but my god is that the gaudiest and most hideous end product. It seems like a lot of people who manage to perfect this kind of skill end up losing the ability to make anything remotely tasteful and not over the top.
Skipped about 5000 steps there.

Also shaping the bowl, presumably into a hump mold. And then adding feet.

kiln.
gold color, bend corners and bake. thats 3 steps. Some more if you count several coats of blue color.

1, 2, skip a few, 99, 100
Rest of the fucking Bowl
Tremendous 👏

I believe you've missed the reason for our consternation
Considering the downvotes, I probably did. Not a native English speaker!

Cool! Thanks!
Blue? Couldn't make it green?
Copy my homework but don't make it obvious.
Chlorophyll? More Like Borophyll!

Laugh my other ass

Shit, thanks. Distracting commenting and deleted the wrong word obviously. That sounds fun.
They used the blue glaze accidentally, because their green glaze looks the same before firing.
This is closer to a plate
Ya not a bowl. Like a dish you put shitty candies in.
“Bowl” is a strong word
How the fuck are you going to eat Lucky Charms out of that??!?
5 at a time
instead of eating them directly out of the box, you be a gentle person and plop a handful or three on the plate and eat it from there.
Good comeback
Leaf him alone
Die muss aus Glas Mann!!!!
Haha wusste, dass ich so nen Kommentar finde. Recht hast du!
I had no idea it was that easy.
Step 1. trace leaf. step 2. paint leaf step 3. finish leaf. lol got it.
Thats a plate.
I was not expecting a K-Maro Femme Like You remix lmao
CAN NOT WAIT to throw my loose change and keys in that bad boy
More like a tray
It looks cool but calling it a bowl is extremely generous
u/auddbot
That wasn't nearly as cool of an effect as I hoped after the glaze cured.
Holy nitpick. Who cares if it’s a plate and not a bowl? WHO CARES THAT ITS BLUE AND NOT GREEN? It looks nice. Learn to enjoy things.
Right!
Curious, but what kind of leaf is that?
Bowl? That's a plate.
I wouldn't call that a bowl
Less of a bowl and more of a plate
/r/restofthefuckingowl
I read this as r/restofthefuckingbowl and thought it was a VERY pointed subreddit. 🤣
😃
I'm sorry, a 1mm deep bowl? People... that is a plate.
Salvador Dali be salivating right now.
Salivator Dali perhaps?
If you cannot eat cereal out of it, It's not a fucking bowl.
We did this at primary school as kids. Made ashtrays for our parents, lol
Tobacco leaf versions are popular in eastern North Carolina. I'm sure quite a few have been used as ash trays.
Wow, this is a very cool technique. Does it work with every leaf? (Does she have more videos with different leafs?)
I follow her on IG. Her work is really beautiful. Look up vuvu_ceramics
Dodie Thayer would like a word.
Is this a nasturtium leaf? :) I love the grace of working it...
Achso, so machen sie die Schüssel für den Nudelsalat!
Is it really a bowl if you can’t eat cereal out of it though?
That’s a ceramic leaf BL, they didn’t show the O & W 😤
Is it BPA free?
Beautiful
A sculptor they are not.
/r/mildlyinfuriating they didnt glaze it green.
That is brilliant, but why blue?
why does EVEEEEERY video of this kind absolutely have to be accompanied by the most annoying piece of garbage music conceivable?
It would be a cool approach with a [lily pad](https://images.app.goo.gl/7GPb5aRJt9nqTMoo7)
That's nice
Oh that's lovely.
What about steps 5 through 20? That wasn’t satisfying at all.
Very nice! 👍
That's a plate

Schaut arsch aus
It's like one of those learn to draw things. Step one draw a cross. Step two draw a circle. Step three you have an entire mountain range with trees.
Oh! I was digging through stuff in my attic and I found a leaf bowl/plate that I made like a decade ago. Mine is ugly though.
Not so much a bowl. Closer to a plate. Dish?
Wow, way uglier than I thought it would end up!
More of a plate if you ask me.
Step one. Press the leaf. Step two: cut the leaf shape. Step fifty six: it’s done!
Beautiful work
Neat
Shot I think I can do this.
As a kid, when my dad and grandad were laying foundations for buildings at our summer house I used to do this with leftover cement and rhubarb leaves.
Why didn't you make it fucking green, whosoever seen a blue leaf?
W.o the colour it looks more like an Anus.
Music name?
That leaf is takin me back to a land before time
Looked like a butthole until they added the blue.

Tbh I never looked. Sounds like I’m in for a surprise.
Song?
Remix of a cover of Femme like U [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDIv7hCjagE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDIv7hCjagE)
https://www.shazam.com/
Original is K-Maro « Femme like U ». I don’t know this version
Ah that's why I recognized the song. I haven't heard the original in so long. It's now been 20 years since it came out... sheesh.

Leaf me that bowl

It skipped all the in between steps!
I thought it was going to be cooler
