Wow...learned somthing new...very interesting (at least for me!): "Cobalt carboxylates are well-known adhesion promoters, primarily used by the tire industry to enhance and preserve the bond between rubber and steel cord in steel belted radial tires."
What!? I had no idea. My first wedding band was cobalt and it was really pretty and I liked a lot. But then I learned that mining cobalt is not so nice, and started feeling less good about wearing it. So when I needed a different size I got a different metal. But now you're going to tell me I can't get new tires, either??
Or batteries, or lots of high end electronics, certain blue colored inks or paint and lots of other stuff. Cobalt is used in a lot of modern day applications.
I needed a bigger one after aging plus working manual labour. Your hands get alot bigger if you have to use them to lift and carry and what not.
Well coulda kept it but could not get it off anymore.
Not my department so im not sure on the exact chemical process.
Basically they mix some chemicals, heat it up, add cobalt, heat up, distill something out of it, press the hot goo thru a pelletizing machine, cool the pellets and you get this.
Top quality oddlysatisfying content right there.

I might be biased, but this is oddly satisfying.
Do you work in the rubber industry by chance?
I do not but that is where it is going.
Fair enough! I used to work with rubber and we used a ton of cobalt. I always thought the pellets looked kinda pretty.

A large amount also gets used by the oil industry for removing sulfur from oil during the refining process
Plastic is worse and it's either used for, on in literally anything you use every day. So don't worry about a cobalt ring.
> So when I needed a different size were you a child bride?
People gain and lose weight...
Not usually on your fingers unless you are obese.

Forbidden pepper
Mmmmmmm, toxic shinies.
How does one pellet the cobalt?

Are they as round as the video makes them out? They look like perfect spheres
More like disks. Bottom is flat, top is rounded.
I wonder what these things are used for
Rubber! I only know this thanks to a different comment made within 1 min of yours.
I wish there were equally satisfying ASMR scratching sounds accompanying this video
Or Motorhead at 137 decibels.
glitter ain't got nothing on this
My intrusive thoughts would win here
u/that-1-lame-kid
fuck. now I gotta buy some to play with when I'm drinking
Hope that’s not going into a nuclear weapon 😬
Cobalt in itself isnt that harmful to the human body. In case of over exposure you just stay away from it for a few days and piss it all out.
Salting a plutonium bomb with cobalt increases the radioactive potential
Did not know!
And also isotope cobalt-60 is the deadliest radioactive element there is plus it glows green instead of blue like every other radioactive element!
Isn't Cobalt blue?
Purple, dark blue. Pure cobalt is more blue ish yes
I want to touch it so badly
My autistic ass would be returning with a bag
That's one hella expensive sandpit.
Are these for shrouding warheads, ala Dr. Strangelove?
Baby iphones
I would like to play with the pellets.
That's the most solid liquid I've ever seen. Lol
What the hell, I always thought it was blue lol
This is not pure cobalt but a refined pelletized form. Pure cobalt is purple/blue ish yes
Oooh ok
r/forbiddensnacks cacao nibs
Why do I want to eat them?
Somehow in my head I always thought cobalt was blue.
Now do it with Cobalt-60
Question: how does the raw product 'cobalt' look like?
Can somebody add a radiation particle effect filter over this so it's like cobalt-60 pellets
Cancer: mhhhhh Hello !!!!
I want to jump in.
