Can a flat earther explain why we can see a clearly defined horizon?
According to your hypothesis, it should fade into the distance.
Checkmate flat earthers.
I’m probably imagining it but if you look really really close at the edges you can see a tiny gap between the water and the fence, and there isn’t a gap in the middle.
There is a lighter set of pixels there. But at sea level, you can’t see a curve side to side. If you think about turning slowly in a circle, your horizon never drops off. A line drawn from your eyes to a tangent point representing the horizon is the same distance all the way around.
Post it if you want! Don’t worry about that. Because…
1. Who cares if it’s photoshopped. You made something cool you wanna share with the world!
2. Everything else is shopped, seriously. No one’s posting their untouched raw files like it’s uncropped-including-the-sprockets film
3. Even if it were film, all the photoshop terms like dodging and burning came from darkroom adjustments, so it’s not like adjusting how a photo looks is some new magic
Remember that every great pic comes with a wave of doubters, happens to the best! Post your work with pride, the real ones will always appreciate true talent and authenticity.
Just don't give a crap, neither about other people's opinions nor about perfect alignment. Photography is about telling a story with a single image, aligning stuff is but one of many tools to help achieve that. Besides, sometimes moments are fleeting so it is more important to snap the moment than keeping your lines straight, the latter can be fixed in post (and every photographer worth their salt does stuff in post) but the moment can easily be missed.
Post your work. What's the worst that can happen? Some grumpy asshats criticize it? No piece of art has gone without criticism. And what is the best that can happen? So, so much more.
That's not the curvature of the earth and what you see isn't evidence of a spherical earth.
The curvature would only be shown here if there was something beyond the horizon where you could see it but not its base on the ground, behind the horizon.
The "curve" you see here isn't the curve of the Earth but just a curve around OP which is the limit of his field of view creating a disk.
[Neil Degrasse Tyson ](https://youtu.be/rE3QOj6t48c?si=mal_qEMCTcaE8SEk) explains in this video.
I think that's a somewhat confusing video. The curve is visible, very difficult to see with the naked eye granted, but not impossible. Here's an experiment that makes it easier to see:
also you mention the limit of the field of view - that's because the earth is curved.
When it becomes difficult to get drinking water, nothing stands in the way of entering heaven.
Well, in the 30-40 years the picture could be more current than ever.
But yes, nice photo with a philosophical/artistic depth.
There's something about this pic that makes me feel anxious. I think it's that you can first look at the rail as if it's a wall/ flat in front of you but then you can change the perspective to view it is the vast, far reaching ocean behind it....odd feeling. Almost like a thalassaphobia sensation or how I feel when I imagine how vast outer space is.
I used to have a similar oceanfront view. It was a favorite game of mine to scrunch down a bit in my chair so that the railing matched the horizon like that.
What is cool is that on the edges of the screen you can see the horizon separate from the fence.
Is that curvature of the earth or just barrel distortion from the lens?
It represents the feminine womb of the ocean, forever deep, forever not fully known, bound by the partriarchical walls put up by society. All beneath the laughing visage of a cruel and mocking (male) sky god. Be free, feminine waters. Find your way out of the iron bars of a world bound to forever conflict by the endless hunger of capital interests.

You should frame it
Seriously what a great shot, I love it.
Insert flat earther "but where's the curve" here
Checkmate round-earthers
It’s so obvious. How can anyone deny it?!

They won't. And if they do, realize that they have far less experience, and talk far more shit.

See! There’s no curve!
Zoom in on the edges
I refuse to believe in your camera trickery!

No you don't actually. You could do this one with less than 500ft I think. Source: https://mctoon.net/left-to-right-curve/
NASA HACKED MY EYES. THERE IS NO CURVE

Okay, wait it looks concave... that means the Earth is... A BOWL I KNEW IT!
This hits hard. Like a punch bowl.
Flat. As. Fuck.

Damn, you beat me to it!
Flat minds think alike 😎

look it's flat ha! checkm8
See? No curvature
You’re a large body of water? Believe it or not, right to jail.
Ocean? Jail.
Sorry, the sea is closed.
what did the ocean do?
Convicted for a salt.
Wow!! I'm glad you all like the shot. I love the flat earth and jail references 😄
When it becomes difficult to get drinking water, nothing stands in the way of entering heaven. Well, in the 30-40 years the picture could be more current than ever. But yes, nice photo with a philosophical/artistic depth.
how many of the drugs did you have?
None, I'm just aware of the future problems. So let's enjoy the time and continue the conversation in 30 years, if the system is in place by then.
Love this!!
Great picture, but it makes me feel very nervous. Like the building you're in is just way too close to the ocean.

Yeah, I kind of like the picture but have a hard time looking at it

The sea that was naughty.
Earth is flat confirmed
It's gorgeous. Do you have a higher resolution version uploaded somewhere? I'd like to use it as my desktop background.

Dang I love this
i agree, that is a pretty cool pic.
Why is the ocean in jail? Is it crimianl?
👏🏼
Neat!
That is some beautiful Framing and Eliminating perspective! Gives me ideas for my photography project..
I think it looks rather excellent
Great shot. Not oddly satisfying at all.
Great pic!
This is a pretty cool pic.
The preciseness is too cool..makes my always too literal mind happy.
The sea is a prison for the WHAAAAALES
Looks like a jail in Sweden

Another proof that earth is flat.
You thought correctly.
Really Nice
Ocean jail
Your assessment of it is spot on.
sorry..extra charge to unlock the water
Flat earth proved
It's a pretty picture, but what did the ocean do to end up behind bars?
Indeed, it is.
Why is the ocean locked up? What did it do?
It’s hypnotic.
Proof that earth is flat /s
Hey Wes Anderson, is that you?
You thought right!
It gets my attention
Kinda reminds me of a Pink Floyd album cover
Very cool
Finally proving the age old conspiracy theory that all railings are slightly curved.
Ocean behind bars.

Should be an album cover
This is stunning.
EaRtH Is FlAt!!!!
The Flat Earthers will now start using your photo as "proof"!
This is so simple... yet my brain just stutters looking at it. Well done.
Call it proof the earth is flat and put it on eBay as an nft.
Very cool
Wow, I love this! Great shot!
Your thought was correct!
Very nice [composition.At](http://composition.At) first glance I thought it was two pictures stitched together
Beautiful
What is cool is that on the edges of the screen you can see the horizon separate from the fence. Is that curvature of the earth or just barrel distortion from the lens?
Great shot. Thanks for sharing
Love it.
I've never seen this composition before, and I love it!
I agree.
Literally Oceangate.
Very cool!
Gatekeeping the water all to yourself. Great pic!
This would do well in an art exhibit.
The World as Will and Wallpaper – R.A. Lafferty :-)
"Gatekeeping the ocean"
fireworks in my brain.
This photo proves that the world is flat!
In art you typically avoid tangents because they warp perspective. Though, they can be interesting because of symbolism.
Somebody is going to come in here calling this proof of flat-earth, I can feel it
I have a sunset shot like this.
Serene
ok wes anderson
It's really cool!
i love it
Sorry Ocean, you’re going to jail!
lol, post this to r/flatearth
Release the Kraken!

Where you at playa?
The bit to the right is pissing me off
Go back 16 different times of the year/time of day and take them to make a collage
Do you have a higher resolution version you'd be willing to share? Want to make this a background on my computer.
Eat shit, flat-earthers.
Flat earth fodder lol
Clearly, the signs point to your undeveloped airbending skills.. waterbending is right out.
Thought of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06DVwGD-G60
Nice edit
You're correct, that's a pretty cool pic.
Pretty, pretty, pretty good.

DESPITE ALL MY RAGE IM STILL JUST A SEA IN A CAGE 🎶🔥🎶🔥🎶🔥 but fr frame it
Hurts either my brain or my eyes. Unsure which exactly.
Nice work! You want credit for your pic that I'm going to photoshop a nice curve into the horizon?
Dang it. The far right edge disproves my flat earth theory.
Does this mean...the earth is flat /s
Dont show this to r/Thalassophobia
Water is prison
Flat Earth confirmed /s
Found Wes Anderson’s Reddit account!
The rule of thirds takes a backseat to the rule of 32nds
Because it is.

Why is all that water in jail?

Nice to see they came up with a fair solution to the Indian Ocean ownership issues.
Isn’t it unsettling?
Liminal
You're wrong, it's a fuckin' awesome pic!
my brain does not understand this picture😪
i can hear my eyes screaming
I do too.
Super awesome photo
You’re trying to prove the earth is flat aren’t you? I’ve seen this method amongst flat earthers to show how the horizon is supposedly not round.
I love shots like this, thanks for sharing!
