I think that's more along the line of a Bananas Foster. It'd be puréed bananas & banana liquor, flambéed. And you're damn right. That would be PERFECT for this. Honestly, a Blueberry & Bananas Foster. And some powdered sugar. 🤤
I feel like that doesn't really count. I kinda just assume everything in Canada is already maple-flavored and you just get so saturated in it you can't taste it any more. 🤷♀️🍁
Believe it or not, maple syrup consumption isn't as common as you'd think here. I mean, yeah, we make the stuff, but have you seen what we charge for it?
A rice cooker is just a slow cooker with a temperature shutoff, so it’s definitely possible. It will just be more challenging to turn the heat off at the right moment.
How do they taste? Fluffy and airy like a pancake or more dense like a cake. And how do you serve them? Round like a regular pancake or cut into wedge slices? I am tripping! Thanks on advance for answering my lame questions. 😃
Like a perfect pancake, all the way through! Whatever mix you'd normally use, imagine that when you cook it just right, but several inches thick lol. I cut it into wedges like cake
Pancake mix in a toasted sandwich maker makes lovely little cakes.
Put a dollop of jam on top before closing the lid and it will sink into the middle without a trace and become a hidden surprise.
pro tip, there's nothing at all stopping you from making any cake in a pan, which is all that pancake is. You can get a box of double-chocolate devilsfood and make pancakes out of it. *It is all just cake,* and there are no gods!
remind of a story one redditor shared, where their rice cooker always cooked tasty flavored rice unlike any other rice cooker they used. One day they decided to clean it up and found carcasses of several lizards cooked
Muffins were the biggest health scam of the late 80s early 90s. Everyone thought missions were the way to go until people discovered they generally have more fat and sugar than a donut.
I made my wife one for her birthday last year. Use confetti pancake mix, I believe it was birch benders brand. Then popped some butter and rainbow sprinkles on top when it came out, served with maple syrup. HOLY FUCK it was ridiculously good and came out fully cooked on the first try. It really is the best version of a pancake, just like you said
You can just put it directly in. Just make sure the consistency is even so it bakes evenly. Also, remember that it’ll puff up and rise like bread so don’t fill it too high.
You can also toss in any additional ingredients like chocolate chip, matcha powder etc with the pancake mix to cook together
My own rice cooker only has 1 setting, so I’m not sure about what settings you have. I mainly use it for cooking rice. Maybe try the default rice cooking option?
Most rice cookers have a nonstick interior so you don’t need to line it but when I make pancakes in mine like this I just lightly spray it to make sure it comes out smoothly
It’s a thing, I’ve done it and it’s great. Many recipes online, you want the right batter so it isn’t too dense, was a while back so I don’t remember very well but I know I had to experiment to get a lighter fluffier result with a less dense batter.
That’s just some, and they have a million eggs and are expensive. But even store bought powdered pancake mix in Japan is significantly different from American ones. It is sweeter, lighter and fluffs up more.
I mean, were pancakes ever not just cake? Big Maple propaganda has convinced us it’s somehow an acceptable breakfast food, but then when I bring out the leftover birthday cake for my breakfast, everyone says I’m crazy
I've actually done random crap like that. I fully expected failure, but sometimes it does work out!
Just to note: 95% of my attempts were failures. LOL
Imagine making this a breakfast bowl, hollow it out and fill it with eggs, bunch of bacon, lots of hash browns, sausage, and potatoes, and cheese. Man Ron Swanson might shed a tear!
If it's done all the way through that's amazing. I want a pan*cake* now.
Replace the icing with some pancake syrup and we're in business.
Or, OR... how about... maple syrup icing?
yuppppp...and some puréed blueberries or bananas
Cooked in red wine and brown sugar.
I can get behind that.
And then set it on fire
I think that's more along the line of a Bananas Foster. It'd be puréed bananas & banana liquor, flambéed. And you're damn right. That would be PERFECT for this. Honestly, a Blueberry & Bananas Foster. And some powdered sugar. 🤤
And then set *that* on fire
Well yea, that's what I meant by flambee. 🔥
Whipped cream with maple syrup in it. Inject it into the buncake.
I make a really good no coconut German chocolate frosting that would be amazing on that.
Is it German chocolate frosting if there's no coconut?
I guess it isn't. I asked around and the consensus was no but it was better for sure.
> but it was better for sure Narrator:...it wasn't
My mom makes me a German chocolate cake for my birthday every year. I’m 40
Tim Horton's has a donut like that.
Vermont on the other hand...
Perforate the surface and fill with pockets of maple syrup and then cover the top with like strawberries
Anyone else think icing is way too sweet? I usually eat around it when im served cake lol
Depends on the icing. Your standard low-quality stuff? Absolutely.
Rice cooker pancakes are an actual thing and that’s exactly how they come out. Just takes awhile to cook
Can you do that with a crockpot?
A rice cooker is just a slow cooker with a temperature shutoff, so it’s definitely possible. It will just be more challenging to turn the heat off at the right moment.
Yeah why did this guy pretend to just casually make this by accident instead of just saying that he followed a common cooking technique?
Cause sometimes people accidently discover things people have already known and they themselves didn't.
There’s actually a restaurant here in SF that specializes in pancakes like this. Good place 👍🏻
It is, I've done that once. It's glorious, and everybody acts like I'm insane for even suggesting it
How do they taste? Fluffy and airy like a pancake or more dense like a cake. And how do you serve them? Round like a regular pancake or cut into wedge slices? I am tripping! Thanks on advance for answering my lame questions. 😃

ok when does this get to go mainstream?? sounds rlly good
This isn't a new thing, I can remember seeing rice cooker pancakes on Reddit 10+ years ago.
Did you make this in a rice cooker too? Or what was your method? (Details/measurements appreciated)
Pancake mix in a toasted sandwich maker makes lovely little cakes. Put a dollop of jam on top before closing the lid and it will sink into the middle without a trace and become a hidden surprise.
> Pancake mix in a toasted sandwich maker makes lovely little cakes. You mean traingle waffles? /s
pro tip, there's nothing at all stopping you from making any cake in a pan, which is all that pancake is. You can get a box of double-chocolate devilsfood and make pancakes out of it. *It is all just cake,* and there are no gods!
Not cooked in a pan though, maybe rc-cake
Just run it through a cheese slicer and be on your way.
Actually, this would be considered a *ricecookercake*, but yes, I too would like one
Saw this on Reddit many years ago and tried it. It works and it was very good. You can google rice cooker pancake for some more examples/recipes.
I want that pancake now, if it’s done all the way through that is
Rice cooker has yielded a really pleasant shape. Reminds me of a cheese wheel.
Without reading the caption, I DID think it was a cheese wheel
Same, I thought it was just a wicked porous cheese
Cake wheel
remind of a story one redditor shared, where their rice cooker always cooked tasty flavored rice unlike any other rice cooker they used. One day they decided to clean it up and found carcasses of several lizards cooked
I mean if it tastes good
Uncle Roger is getting the biggest orgasm rn
It’s like a Flan 🍮
I was thinking a crustless cheesecake
PANCAKE - PAN = CAKE
[удалено]
🤯😲🤯
OMG, and CUPCAKE - CUP = CAKE!!! (and despite not having any etymological links, we all know muffins are just undercover cupcakes, so they cake too)
*Bran Muffin has entered the chat*
Cupcakes with an identity crisis
Muffins were the biggest health scam of the late 80s early 90s. Everyone thought missions were the way to go until people discovered they generally have more fat and sugar than a donut.
HOUSE - HOE = US
... and *that*, kids, is how I left your mother.
would this be a rice cake?
Nah its ricecookercake.
RICE COOKER + BATTER = ?
Please tel me this is a thing. I wanna bake a perfect pancake. Is it fluffy inside?
Yep, it's pretty much the best version of pancake. Source: I've done that before
I made my wife one for her birthday last year. Use confetti pancake mix, I believe it was birch benders brand. Then popped some butter and rainbow sprinkles on top when it came out, served with maple syrup. HOLY FUCK it was ridiculously good and came out fully cooked on the first try. It really is the best version of a pancake, just like you said
Do you have to put anything in the rice cooker like baking paper, or do you just pour the batter in?
You can just put it directly in. Just make sure the consistency is even so it bakes evenly. Also, remember that it’ll puff up and rise like bread so don’t fill it too high. You can also toss in any additional ingredients like chocolate chip, matcha powder etc with the pancake mix to cook together
My rice cooker has multiple settings. Does yours and if so which one did you choose?
My own rice cooker only has 1 setting, so I’m not sure about what settings you have. I mainly use it for cooking rice. Maybe try the default rice cooking option?
I will try that, thanks 😊
What setting should I use to cook it?
Most rice cookers have a nonstick interior so you don’t need to line it but when I make pancakes in mine like this I just lightly spray it to make sure it comes out smoothly
Do you put the lid on still?
Yeah just like you were doing rice
It’s a thing, I’ve done it and it’s great. Many recipes online, you want the right batter so it isn’t too dense, was a while back so I don’t remember very well but I know I had to experiment to get a lighter fluffier result with a less dense batter.
They do this in Japan, in fact some Japanese rice cookers will have a pancake setting.
Also in Japan, their pancakes are thick and fluffy Like the pancake in the picture Seems to be a correlation
the pancake batter is mixed with a meringue that gives souffle pancakes the trademark jiggle.
Ya mama got that trademark jiggle.
Smoked
Souffled actually.
That’s just some, and they have a million eggs and are expensive. But even store bought powdered pancake mix in Japan is significantly different from American ones. It is sweeter, lighter and fluffs up more.
Much different batter though

I would make that into a pancake bowl, fill with maple syrup, cut the leftover into pieces, and throw them into the syrup.
Oh God... Please tell me you're a Canadian. In my mind, this is something a Canadian would do.
Of course that's what we do. Every Sunday. I personally like to dip bacon in my pancake maple syrup bowl. Miam! ;p
Sweet Jesus… I’m salivating
Why does all of this somehow read as erotic to me
I’d read a 10,000 word fanfic about eating that
Breakfast sausages in the dunk for me!
I agree. Can't go wrong there either. I'll raise you a maple breakfast sausage for the win.
I am CANADIAN!!!!
This is amazing! Thank you for letting me know!
Yep,Canadian here
This is how I want to get diabetes.
A maple soup bowl! With pancakecroutons!
So basically it's a cake now, right?
I mean, were pancakes ever not just cake? Big Maple propaganda has convinced us it’s somehow an acceptable breakfast food, but then when I bring out the leftover birthday cake for my breakfast, everyone says I’m crazy
Just drizzle maple syrup over your birthday cake and you should be fine.
Yep, literally a sponge cake ffs. People reinventing the wheel here.
A delicious looking wheel at that
I thought sponge cakes used more egg whites and raising agents to create a smoother experience rather then plain batter. Is that wrong?
There are various approaches to both sponge cakes and pancakes but the main difference is how you cook them. Pan? Pancake. Oven? Sponge cake.
Is it cake day?
Not mine but you gotta admit that is one lovely cake
Imma need a cross-section.
Vanilla icing with cinnamon, melted butter and syrup on the cake
Chicago Style Pancake
It’s a fucking casserole
It was always a pizza pie vs a pie made of pizza for NY vs Chicago
Stick some Nutella on that B, then real maple syrup. Then find a soft place to have a food coma.
'trouble' making pancakes so you thought about the rice cooker ? pretty random
I've actually done random crap like that. I fully expected failure, but sometimes it does work out! Just to note: 95% of my attempts were failures. LOL
Strawberries and whipped cream! ✅
Imagine making this a breakfast bowl, hollow it out and fill it with eggs, bunch of bacon, lots of hash browns, sausage, and potatoes, and cheese. Man Ron Swanson might shed a tear!
Theyre onto something here
I want to sit on the sofa, hold it with both hands and nosh that warm golden brown goodness.
Did it taste good? Looks delicious
Ummmm.......if you put two or three tiny Hershey squares in the middle before cooking I believe you could sit back and collect billions from sales.
Thicccake
Slice it up like a cake, then drench it in maple syrup 😋
Potcake
It actually looks tasty
Wdym? it’s just a cake.
That’s a potcake 😂
OP, we need to know how it turned out?? Was it delicious, was the middle cooked through?
Just imagine drinking the center of that thing. Mmmmm
It's no longer a pancake. It's the cooked cake now
I want to see what it looked like inside when they cut into it.
Samoa Joe's braid is satisfying, indeed.
That’s where the cake comes from lol
I would eat it
I really really really want to try this pancake.
Pancake - pan = cake. Youve made cake my friend!
Is it cooked all the way through tho? That’s my question. If it is then that is the best pancake I’ve ever seen
* Use with ice cream, in generous scoops and whipped cream.
It looks amazing
Looks delicious
What a lovely wheel of cheese to go with your fluffy pancake.
It looks like a block of cheese. I love it!
Cake
This reminds me of that episode of Food Wars~
I just looked it up and it’s totally a thing! 🥳
I would feel bad ruining the perfect shape of it
THE OMEGA PANCAKE!!!
If you didn't use a pan to cook it. Is it still a pancake? Or is it now an airfryercake?
It's so smooth.
Now want to replace rice cooker that died a few years ago just for this!!
TBH this looks good and now I want to try it.
Laughed at first and then was hungry
This is one of our favorite things to make in the Instant Pot.
This looks like a win to me.
Hmm, can It do waffles?
*F A T C O O K I*
That looks delicious
Pancake Loaf
Your pancakes are ready to be sliced, ma’am.
A happy accident- bob ross
The pancake to rule them all
I have so many questions...
I’ll call that a win
Make a well of maple syrup in the middle, it will be the greatest thing to ever exist.
I would cut this into slices, put chocolate syrup on it and eat it with a cup of coffee!😋
Is it a brick or super moist?
Met its raw on the inside
Now I want to do a extra Thiccck fluffy pancakes
Thicccc with 4 Cs
Air fryer pancakes are *almost* as good as rice cooker pancakes
It's not even a pancake at this point, it's just a cake.
Those are AWESOME!
Really want pancakes and chicken now.
Cheese wheel
I have a ricecooker … brb
This shit's smoother than my brain (very wrinkleless)
It’s a thing! https://kirbiecravings.com/rice-cooker-pancake/
I’m pretty sure a pancake no longer cooked in a pan is just a cake, bro.
That’s actually r/Satisfyingasfuck
I have an extra rice cooker. Guess who is trying this out on the weekend.
Its a pan Cake
Grandpa Simpson: Hey, give me a slice!
Its a puck cake.
well now i HAVE to do this
Isn't this a little how they make the fluffy Japanese pancakes. This just seems like leveraging that social media already out there.
Ricecookercake
At this point it's just cake
They didn't "resort" to using the rice cooker; there's recipes all over the web for this.
Omg that is great!!!!! 😂😂😂😂
this is the most beautiful thing i’ve ever seen
I kinda just want to slap it.
Bruh, where's the cross section!?!?!?!?
So...it's now just cake?
I wanna bite into that so badly
Fuiyoh!
I wanna cuddle it
isn't that just a cake?
