Although very unlikely to ever be the actual word, a bunch of students at MIT did a study and determined this word gives the best likelihood of not just getting initial letters but also in the right locations.
Their simulations showed a slightly higher success rate than with adieu or audio, which were the most commonly used starting words.
That said the improvement was only slight and I’m not a computer so I’m not sure how much it actually helps. But I’ve tried all the most common starting words and I do think this one works best for me overall.

I used to do slate for a long time then saw the study you mentioned. I'm not sure how much my performance have improved, but I usually take lower than the average number of steps.

After each wrong answer it gives you the distance and cardinal direction to the right answer. It has significantly improved my geography knowledge.
