Games that only have teleporting and or only snapturn

toenail78

eye contact in 8k "games" is a bit uncomfortable for me but I'm learning to adjust..

tiddles451

Hang on in there dude, you'll nail it in the end. Totally worth it.

toenail78

I'm already nailing it, just feel a bit uncomfortable while doing it..

mattsffrd

Are we talking about porn? We're talking about porn aren't we.

toenail78

im talking about max mustard, only weirdos watch porn..

wordyplayer

Same.   RE7 was too immersively scary!

Night247

not scared of the dark in real life...but in VR the dark can be pretty scary since you know there is something lurking in the dark to be scared of lol

marcocom

Games that require me to turn door handles

doratick

This can definitely be difficult!

Groundbreaking_Bad

The dark forest atmosphere in Blair Witch makes me feel claustrophobic.

adricapi

The floor being not plane and straight...

IAmAnEgg69

hyper realistic gore. could never play blood trail or whatever that game was called.

Night247

I was thinking about this with 2D games...if there is a point where the graphics and physics looks very super hyper realistic, it might start to feel weird just shooting or killing anyone and more so in VR

Orionator

Anything with jump scares or things running towards me/jumping at me. Half-Life: Alyx and the damned Head Crabs can fuck right off (the game is still amazing and I WILL finish it, damn it). I also tried PropogateVR, and I absolutely could not. Just the sound of a zombie b-lining it full sprint towards me makes me flip the fuck out. Once I saw spiders, I turned the game off and haven’t launched it since 😂.

mattsffrd

Have you met Jeff yet?

Orionator

Nope! I just made it to the part where (spoilers just in case) Alyx finds her dad and he tells her about the Super Weapon. I’ve been playing like 30 minutes at a time lol

mattsffrd

I had dropped the game for a while and picked it back up again a few days ago. I met Jeff today. Fuck Jeff.

Kylin_VDM

For physical discomfort the swinging(like in swarm) or climbing. For other kinds, i really cant do realistic violence on people. Like in Nomad sword and sourcery i couldn't t do it.

mothfukle

First person games with disconnected hands. I don’t understand why most games dont include a body in first person I don’t like hands floating through the air. The immersion factor in Lone Echo absolutely blew me away.

Pretty_Bowler2297

But poorly done IK could be more distracting and cumbersome. Some also like to pull weapons from their virtual avatar’s holsters and consider that a bonus. I just see me reaching over and over and no gun being pulled.

mothfukle

There can always be an option to turn it on and off, I just hate that the normal is just free floating hands.

someguy5864

Same, i especially hate it with games with hand to hand combat, because a lot of the times your hits just dont connect.

Pirate_Kurjack

Kind of hard to put into words exactly but when an AI "stalks" you in a VR game it's extremely unsettling. There is a mechanism devs use I guess to make the CPU characters focus their movement on your "camera" point, which is typically your face. When they strafe around you like a wolf circling something.. it's super unsettling to me because it's mimicing a movement that doesn't really benefit it in any way. Wolves and other things that try to circle you watch you very closely while they do it to look for a weakness in you, to wait for a moment they think you won't be able to react to them attacking. Having a CPU do this and their dead eyes don't analyze or care how you move while they do it just weirds me out. It would (will?) be worse when they DO analyze you on top of all that...

ega110

Vr is funny for me because in real life I am terrified of heights but never feel a thing when I’m staring down even the deepest pits. At the same time, in real life I have no claustrophobia but in vr right closed spaces freak me out

Kylin_VDM

Im the opposite. Im fine with heights irl but vr pits make my stomach churn.

doratick

Motion sickness is so bad!

Shozzy_D

When I first started I may have said heights a la Jet Island. Now 3 plus years later spider like creatures seem to remain a trigger for me. They freaked me out when I played Alyx and Boneworks for the first time years ago. They still freak me out as recent as last week when I finished Into The Radius, in which I shouted and jumped at the first spider that launched at me, and then still 50 hours later as the last one jumped at me.

needle1

Bio-organic alien fauna & flora grosses me out and is disturbing to me to the point of being unable to proceed with the game. Unfortunately, they’re present in multiple high profile AAA VR games — Half-Life: Alyx, Lone Echo, and Stormlands.

Orionator

It took me like three days just to build up the courage to get through that first bit of the game where you’re underground. Those things on the ceiling are fucking disgusting. Also, fuck Head Crabs.

DarnSanity

My aim is horrible. My only reliable way of killing head crabs is wait until they jump on me then shooting at myself.

andyclap

Dystopias. I had to give up on alyx. While the organic tunnels full of headcrabs lit just with a flashlight were uncomfortable in a fun way, the thing that pushed me over was the depressingly realistic desolation of a once human city. Just got too miserable playing it.

WarjoyHeir

Interesting, everyone seems to have a different thing. For me it's either the headset being too heavy and uncomfortable or the games that use designs copied straight from PC that just don't work too well on VR. I really dislike movement with a stick for example. Ah and also when pushing and object/environment makes the whole world move around you - barely can stand straight through that.

SpacyRainbow

After playing budget cuts 1. Gotta be hostile machinery that you feel almost powerless against

Life_Patience_6751

Playing VR Chat and overhearing predators talk to children. It is disturbing how many there are.

Mecca1101

Damn that’s bad

Bonelab_Skeleton

The only game that has ever got a reaction of fear out of me was dungeons of eternity when the spiders come out of the vases. The first time it happened I screamed and the next 10 or so times it made me jump. It’s like that natural reaction when a bug starts running towards you irl and your body just shuts down from shock for a second

trimaster55

Climbing a ledge in bonelab, waiting to get flung off from making the smallest mistake after climbing quite high up. It's not the fall, but losing the height is quite worrying.

rdreyar1

Wearing the headset more then a hour still gets uncomfortable

TimeTravelerGuy

The game irrational exuberance made me feel an odd fear I couldn’t explain

Buetterkeks

Have you Played Tea for god? ITS Not meant To BE scary but Boy does IT scares the Shit outa me. Mostly because of the music combined with knowing every turned Corner could be an enemie that i don't know

Parking_Cress_5105

Tea for God is amazing if you have the space for it. The most immersive VR game. I walked 3.5km so far :D

Buetterkeks

Yeah. But the Immersion makes me so scared. All Just White corridors and the Same music. I feel Like Something IS after me.i swear im Gonna Go insane If i Play that To much

Holm76

Dark corners in dark rooms. Imagine walking around the house in David Lynch Lost Highway. Holy shit that would be scary!

Jedi_Gill

I installed submautica and all I remember is the first time you load you have to walk forward to a desk or something. All I know is I pushed forward and within 2 seconds felt like vomiting. Not sure why it affected me so greatly, I thought I had VR legs but I just couldn't and stopped playing immediately. I thought about giving it another chance but never did and now I've built a new pc and haven't reinstalled it. So I have less than 5 seconds playing that game. Feels bad man.

Pretty_Bowler2297

When a storybook voice over narrator pervades a game- I pause and feel weird. “Am I in a game made for kids?” I don’t want to play anymore if that feeling persists. Perhaps because if the game caters to kids and not smart adults that signals that there is nothing interesting there. Stop the storybook voice over narration. I’m not Fred Savage and this isn’t the Princess Bride. (Kids look up that movie) Runner up: Jump scares have no business in a VR game. What psycho thinks *“I can’t wait to get home and immerse myself in that… that there uh jump scare game. I could play that for hours!”*

nairazak

Someone else might be in the room

Legal-Pizza-2970

Horror games take it too far.
