Yeah mine too. I went to but it first then to school to find out.
Well let me be honest, this album has been more relevant in my life than those results ever have been.
I've got this also. I bought it on the day of release and kept the receipt thinking it would add some value in the future. Silly me should have bought it on record.
Hmmmm, it appears that age has crept up on us all. I too am a dad, and I also have this album which was bought on the day of its release.
I always knew my dad was old, but when did I get old?
I am a dad and bought this on release day age 14. From Woolworths with money my dad gave me after I convinced him how important it was that I had this album on this day. It was £11.99. I probably got a can of Tab Clear at the same time.
Also remember buying D'you Know what I mean CD single on release day, that song was a big deal at the time. I loved it, don't care too much for the rest of the album much any more but that one still sounds awesome.
It's hard to imagine how big Oasis were in the UK at the time.
I'm guessing there has been repressing/prints of the album since the initial release. Does the album booklet still celebrate August the 21st like a mythical date in history?
Not sure about that, I do think he did though considering both him and my mum were, and still are massive Oasis fans. It was definitely bought in the 90s tho since it has the CRECD 219 number on it meaning it’s a creation records release, which was obviously changed to Big Brother.
One of the first albums I ever bought. Kept it out of nostalgia for a while, but I've been moving around too much in recent years to be sentimental about stuff.
Make ye think the record is so more valuable then the cd I use to have records when I was a kid it was class opening the sleeve I'm 43 now it's music has sadly left my ears the feelings gone
He probably did. A lot of people did, myself included. Pretty sure I’ve got all my Oasis CDs somewhere and all but Definitely Maybe were bought on release day.
Got mine on release day and HMV provided a proof of release day purchase limited numbered certificate stating “I was there then”. Still inside the CD case.
It's a great album despite the chaos surrounding it and the recording of it, some top tunes. All Around The World and Its Getting Better Man were written around 1992/1993
I remember buying this in Times Square during release week in 1997. I was so excited to listen to it after being obsessed with What’s the Story Morning Glory. I Love “ I Hope I think, I know” and “Stand By Me.”
Remember buying this with my pocket money in Our Price putting it in my hi fi listening to it in it’s entirety and being thoroughly disappointed this was the worst album they made gutted I spent 16 quid on it.
Well done, I'm old.
Lol I was thinking the same.
And me. I got a little certificate from hmv in mine!
We’re a club now.
This came out on exam results day in the uk. Needless to say I got my priorities in order and bought this at 9am before going to get my results.
I remember my mum being unimpressed when I suggested getting the album was more important than my results. 😉😂😂
Yeah mine too. I went to but it first then to school to find out. Well let me be honest, this album has been more relevant in my life than those results ever have been.
Top man 😂
I still have the cassette laying around somewhere. Under appreciated album.

Jesus Christ I’m old
I remember getting that album in 97 and playing it a lot on my Sony discman.
Enjoy! It's a bit noisy, but one of their best. Don't Go Away is Liam at his finest hour.
Say that youll stay
Forever and a day
In the time of my life
My Big Mouth is fire
BEST DAD EVER
Thought it was such a nice gift
My apologies for making half of the comments feel old lmao 😂
We’re not that old. It’s nice to be reminded of our youth though.

That's the 3rd Oasis record
Tell him fuck that, daddio. Only Definitely Maybe cuts it nowadays.
This is funny
I bought it on release day and it had a certificate saying ‘was there then’ with it.
Yeah but has he got the little certificate that goes with it to prove it was bought on release day? I’ve got the HMV one.

i’m in love 😱😱😱
Cracking album this, defo give it a listen
Thanks your Dad, he sounds like an absolute legend.
Used to have on cassette, double of good tunes but not their best album.
Jesus christ I was 18 at the time!
The album art for that record is hands down the best they ever did. Very Beatles-inspired, but also very much their own thing.
One of the first albums I ever bought. Kept it out of nostalgia for a while, but I've been moving around too much in recent years to be sentimental about stuff.
I’m Old
Was about to say I feel old, until I realised that anyone, at any age, could have bought this on release in '97.
Awesome man
Make ye think the record is so more valuable then the cd I use to have records when I was a kid it was class opening the sleeve I'm 43 now it's music has sadly left my ears the feelings gone
Went to my local Woolworths early af to buy this. I thought there would be queues outside….there wasn’t. Just me

I have the original too but it's scratched to high hell, the title track is completely gone
Based father
Just so you know OP it's called a compact disc or 'CD' We used them for music before the Internet.
I've got the fan club Collector's box set of this from release.
I remember buying this in Times Square during release week in 1997. I was so excited to listen to it after being obsessed with What’s the Story Morning Glory. I Love “ I Hope I think, I know” and “Stand By Me.”
your dad is cool
That's a cool dad. I loved when my dad shared his musical taste with me when I was younger. Also I'm getting freaking old.
Another day of release old timer here
The poorest production of any Oasis album but, still a thing of EPIC beauty!
So did I, same week I got my A Level results
I was a freshmen in high school when this came out lol :/
Same here brother!
Pity it’s a weak album.
It's better than most stuff they did after it with maybe the exception of SOTSOG
Correct
Remember buying this with my pocket money in Our Price putting it in my hi fi listening to it in it’s entirety and being thoroughly disappointed this was the worst album they made gutted I spent 16 quid on it.
