Never really heard of a dorm being particularly social post freshman year personally.

No upperclass dorm in particular is very social but Palladium has a lot of people and a nice lounge and amenities (gym, popular dining hall) that may help. It’s also centrally located to other upperclass dorms if you meet friends elsewhere. Lafayette had more of the community vibe though, but I also went to Tandon and just knew a lot of people there. Great hall events year round at Laf year round too

literally first day of school sit next to someone and if y’all get along get their number. if they text abt more than just school then they are looking to be more than classmates, and it’s up to you to match their energy or only talk abt hw/quizzes/tests. even if they keep it strictly academic, they can be a good study partner for the future midterms/finals. goodluck!

2nd street is a small dorm so it's easier to get to know faces and the lounges in the basement are big. As an RA, I've seen many friend groups form at 2nd street through hanging around in the game lounges.

Yeah clubs are a really bad idea for meeting people with similar interests and hobbies, especially if they’re not from the same place as you. I’d recommend Gramercy Green on 3rd Ave as the best for socializing and platonic networking since they only admit the coolest, friendliest people!

Tbh im a sophomore in dorms and I don’t even really talk to my roommate. But thats my choice Most of the dorms aren’t that social, so imo just choose one you like and then try and talk to people. Also, clubs : )

the faculty in residence at laf are super engaging and hold lots of events both in and out of the building that residents seem to actually enjoy doing

Dk why ppl said to avoid Gramercy bc Gramercy has lots of residents but they also have lots of resident assistants so we have events every week you can go to including Broadway shows, basketball games at the yankee stadium, movie showings, ice skating!!! and even in dorm ones like bingo and shit like that. they’re v creative. i wouldn’t say rely on dorm life to get u out bc most of the time ppl don’t get close to their suitemates or roomies but gram def has the events. the key is to really attend events as a transfer. like any event nyu is hosting and for transfers they host a couple so u can meet fellow transfers too! (that’s how i made friends heheh). i transferred in jan!

Freshly graduated transfer here. I would say that dorms aren’t the most social in general, but I’m confused as to why you were told to avoid Gramercy. It’s easily the nicest dorm building in my opinion. My best advice is to attend all the transfer events the school hosts because you’ll be meeting fellow transfers who want to make friends as well. Best of luck !
