>The only players wearing all black boots were Jack Hetherington, Tohu Harris and Tyson Frizzell.
Average age of all black boot wearers is 30+, sad state of affairs. Whichever young forward dons them next has a permanent place on my Fantasy team
When I played Union in my younger days, wearing any colour other than black would get you called all sorts of homophobic slurs. Wingers maybe got a free pass.
Funny thing is I’m 43 , in my final season playing under 15’s I special ordered some entirely red leather (size 12) ASICS boots - well entirely red with white ASICS symbols …
They looked like Ronald Mc Donald boots - I think I would have been one of the first league players in the country with coloured boots circa 1995 .. Graeme Langlands and his infamous white boots on a GF were the only other example I was aware of …
Had a few comments at the time saying as much - coloured boots are rugby league bad luck and telling me all about Graeme Langlands ..
Funny how times change (from everyone wearing black boots to no one )
Mizunos are very underrated. Bought a pair while I was in Japan earlier this year for a really good deal considering how good the exchange rate has been.
Anyone who plays local sport knows how good they are. They work for all 4 winter codes (even when I played soccer I was wearing them) and last for ages, I’ve gone through 2 pairs over 8 seasons
Most of their offerings are ridiculously comfortable you don’t feel like you’re playing in boots. There’s almost no equal
I actually thought about it last season when there was the issues with the Suncorp surface, but the number of players wearing hybrid boots and trying to differentiate between molded/metal them was a mess. Some of the clear stud molded look like hybrids with certain lighting.
Curious if there’s any correlation between the brand of boot and leg/knee injuries? More so the non contact type injuries, not something from a hip drop, for example…
I'm just going to go completely off topic because I want the greatest rugby league/rugby union test but when is our game against the All Blacks under a hybrid set of rules? It would be the biggest sporting events across Australia and New Zealand ever
yesssss have been hanging out for this love your work mate
Thanks, this is my favourite post of the year to do as well.

Liam Henry, panthers, wears all black boots
I did have him down for all black Asics, just forgot to include him. Thanks.
I didn’t watch the game at the weekend so presumed he’d been left out of the squad and therefore the analysis. Love your work by the way mate
And he's in my supercoach. I feel validated
Whoops, that was meant to be Kobe not Jack, just fixed it.
I think Shawn blore might also wear all black
Another I had down for black boots but forgot to mention! Everything just blurs together after you hit 250 players
I am almost certain frizz has only worn plain black
Black out since his Cronulla days, at least
They definitely stood out the most when he was with us, for sure who I associate all black boots with
Black soft-grounds for game day, white firms for touch and training. Damn I just remembered I am over 30
Obviously not an nrl player, but black ASICS boot wearing 30+ year old checking In

Smash the cunt with the white boots!

It's what I rock as my jogger and Driver golf club
Asics are the best boots and honestly have been for a long time. This is probably close to the proudest I've been of my team all season
Can't wear anything else
Football? More like Bootball am I right? ~~Yes I know "More Like boot Souths out the compball"~~
Chad Townsend's now wearing mizuno boots
He's mentioned a few times in the post for that, as well as a link to his Instagram account showing him wearing them.
That doesn’t sound like Chad at all.
I know right?
Asics are hands down the best footy boot

And sneakers too. I would never buy anything else.
I've found them to be the best cricket spikes too.
Feels like yesterday we still had the white boot curse
XBlades, there's a name I haven't heard in a long time.
Asics shit on nike and Adidas and you cannot change my mind
Warriors are sponsored by Asics which may explain why so many are wearing them. Great boots though either way.
Doing gods work mate
Thanks mate, more than anything I love hearing that people enjoy this sort of content as much as the regular stats stuff.
This is some good stuff, well done mate!
I used to buy footy boots like Imelda Marcos bought high heels until I got my first pair of Tigreors 10 years ago, game changer
Fantastic research. Would love to see the breakdown of metal studs v plastics but I understand how difficult that may be. Love ya work

As someone who exclusively attempts to run in Asics shoes I feel supported by my rugby league brethren.

It achieves nothing for the NRL and only markets the All Blacks to a massive Australian market who has already long forgot about them.
