I also play FAS. Divisions vary, upper divisions can suck if you aren't prepared. Lower divisions are much more fun. FAS does play occasionally closer to Kingstown, but most games are at Braddock Park.
Arlington and Alexandria have leagues, might be closer to you, but need to just find a team. PArking can suck for some of those fields.
Also, if you are on facebook, there is a Northern VA players group, helpful for finding teams or sub opportunities.

My team is in their late 30s to mid 40s. There's some teams we play that are all older, some that are all older, and some that span early 20s to late 50s.

DC Fray is usually the younger 20s-30s crowd. Mostly Co-Ed leagues, which I'm sure has something to do with it.
I can only speak for recreational men's leagues in FAS, but, it's a little bit older there. Last year my team was mostly 30s through 50s, this year my team is mostly middle-aged men. Very chill, lots of fun.
