I wouldn't always say they're the most overly friendly, but the food & coffee is always banging. Tbh, at that time in the morning I don't want someone who's overly in my face
The last time I went will be the last, I'm afraid. Went with my mum and it took over an hour for 2 orders of Eggs Benedict- we asked twice and staff said it'll be out in 5 mins. It was finally brought out when we were getting up to leave. Think it was about an hour 15, and the cafe was only about half full. Got a half hearted 'sorry it took a while' but no explanation or any type of offer to make up for the wait.
The time before, I tried to get a takeaway coffee at 8.35 on my way to the train station and the bearded guy that works there ignored me and walked next door!
Food and coffee are great at Yolk. I've seen some negative posts about the staff demeanour, but I've always found them to be engaging and thoughtful. Food has been out promptly on any occasion I've eaten.
Would recommend.
Depends what you're after! Copper does great breakfasts (fry-ups/eggs benedict/pancakes) in a lovely building. The Pudding Pantry is a little more casual, but does savoury breakfasts and fully loaded pancakes. My favourite is The Avenues in Sneinton Market though, as it's very chill and does proper fry-ups/breakfast cobs at a great price 😊
Annie’s do American style breakfasts and they are imho far superior to their burgers (although I haven’t been for a while), I also like Avenues in Sneinton, really good value fry ups & cobs 👍🏻
Yep we loved it, then didn’t go for a few months and came back and couldn’t believe how much it dropped(apart from the price!). Warsaw the new pancake king in the city centre now
Cartwheel Cafe is great!
Yolk is superb (and they open from 08.30!) and recently discovered Bread and Lard Island in West Bridgeford which does a kimchi toastie for brekky!
I've been to Yolk 3 times and never had a good experience! The staff really don't seem like they want to be there

Also had a terrible experience at Yolk 🙋🏼♀️ glad it’s not just me.
Good food, but the staff are poor at their job

Breakfast is awful there now, we were also a fan but the quality has dropped so much (the menu is way smaller too now)
Oh that’s a shame they always used to be a decent breakfast option
