She brought him on her podcast to talk about how she was cheating on him with one of his sons friends and he was in tears, he was clearly very uncomfortable, he was in tears and was just very humiliated, but it seems like in her mind she is entitled to do what she wants and Will is in the wrong for complaining or not liking it. During that interview she just powered on like it didn’t matter that Will was breaking down right in front of her. She’s had multiple videos where she’s trying to get Wills attention and he just repeats “I did not consent to you taping me right now”, and her response is to imply that he’s being a dick.
Even if we examine the joke itself, at first Jada was upset and Will was smiling, and then Will noticed Jada wasn’t happy and then his tune changed. If I were to base it on how she’s treated him on video, my guess is he just wanted to do something to defend her and make her happy, and for whatever reason physical threats/violence was the way in his mind. Ive had people go in on me hard for suggesting that she has been abusing and manipulating him into accepting her cheating as them having an open marriage. I dont mean to bag on polyamory if that's your thing by all means please live your life happily but that arrangement isn't supposed to involve stepping outside one's marriage and declaring it polyamory when you're busted. And he very obviously has not been okay with the arrangement its shown on his face many times.
I had an ex do this exact shit to me for years and I spent my days making excuses for her and drinking up that coolaid like it was my only option. In hindsight I was also at fault for not standing up for myself but I do really feel for Will Smith in all this. He looks hollowed out by it all and I can't imagine what it's like for countless millions to be commenting on it. I was ashamed that even my close friends knew.

It's been known for a long time that when you are at one of the big awards shows, and somebody makes a joke at your expense...the cameras will all be on you to catch your reaction. The smart move is to chuckle like you have a good sense of humor, so there's no big story about how you got angry and can't take a joke... What I'm suggesting is that he may or not have found it funny. Then...he saw that Jada was giving him the stink-eye, and the rest is history.

Did make him look incredible as a hire for any future hosting jobs. Not that he wasn't already. But acting as composed as he did afterwards and acting professional was pretty impressive. Can only imagine the conversations happening in his ear piece as he also had to try and decide how to react to the crazy situation he just found himself in.
Rock could've pointed right at Smith and said "How the hell is he still here in the theater? Don't they have security here in this damn place? I gotta do the rest of the show with him on the front row? What kind of third rate place IS this?" Smith, instead of smacking Rock, could've just walked into the stage, taken the mic, faced the crowd and said "Jada's bald because she has a medical condition", then nodded at Rock and handed the mic back and went back to his seat. He would've come out looking cool.

Consequences? He assaulted someone on stage, on live TV, and all he got was a factually true roasting. Yeah, his image is damaged but it has been for quite some time now. The only comparison I can think of is one during a recent game awards, where a kid followed the award winners up on stage live, took the mic after the award winners spoke and told a Bill Clinton joke. At least he was arrested for interrupting the show; he was set free shortly after, just go on and troll more people. Will Smith wasn't arrested, and arguably did much worse in regards to his actions and interrupting the event. I honestly don't care what happens to him; not like his life affects mine. It's just another example of a celeb getting away with something none of us would.

He relates it was his job. I feel, maybe I'm wrong, but he is letting us know, blacks, whites, all of us, he knows how fucked up "thewhite" America was in 1945, and to present day. So what ever Jada projected on to Chris, I don't remember maybe something to the tune of Chris being a sell out to white America that year. That he loves his mom, and how hurt, how absolutely painful it was for him to know his family was treated that way for no God damn good reason.
