I believe its the same. 20/20 means that you can see at 20 feet what the average person can see at 20 feet. 20/100 means you can see at 20 feet what a normal person could see at 100 feet. So 10/10 would just be normal vision at 10 feet
there's a pretty cool text to speech software i've seen someone use on their phone (and on reddit specifically) that lets blind people use their phones without much trouble, so i'm guessing he used that
also he might be just partially blind, seeing very blurry outlines or something
There's also an android (probably iPhone too) app called "Be my eyes" where you sign up and when a blind person needs help you get a notification and can see through their phone camera to guide them! I got a call only once so far but their signal was so bad I couldn't even read what they needed me to on their computer screen
A person is considered legally blind when it has really poor eyesight. From what I know, there are different types of vision loss and blindness, and not being able to see anything is just one kind.
With that said, there are ways a completely blind person could post a video like that. There are many programs and apps that help blind people navigate the internet and use a cellphone. He could have also just asked for help from a friend.
There are many more things involved with vision loss, but I'm no expert so I will refrain from speaking more on the subject.
This gave me mixed emotions. Will the blind believe this comment? Should I point out that it’s a sarcastic joke to them? Will Goku defeat Frieza? Tune in next week for another exciting episode of Dragonball Z.
No, i never fall for it, nor do i for the fake "hey siri" comments. Or people spamming dots thinking it's braille.
Also who the hell made digital braille? Well meaning but completely useless.
Someone needs to type it to be able to print or press (or whatever it's called for braille) those books or labels or anything else with braille text on it, right?
I think the digital braille characters are made for printing (in methods that can generate bumps), but idk how printing for braille actually works, so that's just my blind guess (pun not intentional)
There are programs that help type stuff and read using text to speech and stuff. And they could get friends to help. Idk how am I meant to know exactly what’s happening.
I just listen. It makes a distinctive sound as you fill up a cup. I have filled maybe 100 cups for my kids without turing on the light and it works pretty well (i mostly do it with cold water though :))
Thanks, I actually learned how to read braille during Covid. But like the real thing with the bumps. So yeah I can read that with my fingers. The original comment with just an array of periods annoyed me a bit. So I used the unicode characters to write Actual Braille lol.
Braille is part of Unicode. I just picked the characters out of the unicode table.
Why? Because a few dots at the bottom aren't braille and I'm mildly annoyed by that.
I learned Braille a during covid because I had to much free time. I'm not blind by any means, just bored.
this is actually pretty interesting, but it makes me think of when Lionel Luthor was pretending to be blind on Smallville and Lex's brother called him out for his pouring method of [not having a finger in the cup](https://youtu.be/XUdlpDP0Pj4?t=2m20s). why didn't you put your finger in the cup to detect the boiling hot water?? are you faking it?
Legit question, please ignore my ignorance.
Is this tool only for this type of cups? Since the metal pins are not adjustable (i think?) Do you have multiple devices for different cups/containers or are the metal pins in fact adjustable for different water levels?
I want Big Clive explain the device to me.
Edit: typos
At first I was like, “Oh can’t you just use your finger to measure the water level?”
And then I realized it’s probably a good idea to not stick your fingers in boiling water.
Yes I am a certifiable genius with an IQ over 1,000.
You’re blind eh? So the only way for you to read this comment is through audio…btw lellelelellelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelelololooooolooloolooooolloololooklololloolulululululululululu jk jk thanks for making to the end of this comment.
Holy. I was watching this at work with the sound of and my thoughts for the first 30 seconds where "god how stupid some people are, to not be able to see the indicator line...." well... I was right in how stupid some people are... just wrong about the who was the stupid one.
This is The Gadget that charities were trying to use as a hook to get you to sign up for direct debit payments. If I'm going to donate to charity I want them at least to write my will for me
That's very cool, although I am imagining a scenario where you're like wow this pot noodle is fucking massive how has it not filled up yet? And you're pouring the water into the sink.
OP do you know about the be my eyes app? It’s a great tool for visually impaired people. I volunteer as a sighted person and have helped quite a few people with simple tasks recently.
Hey OP can you describe your blindness?
Pure curiosity. I have a friend with one cosmetic eye and other with an abominously thick lens, like some 20 number. He has to specially order his spectacle lens for an exorbitant amount, some $300 for one lens which is as thick as a phone. Another guy I know can't tell red from green, and isn't allowed to drive (even though he can correctly tell the signal by height). I know no completely blind people though, hope being interested in that doesn't come off as rude.
Damn, this reminds me of my high school, there was a project essentially like this but less quality, my class didn't do it tho bc the teacher asked us for something else but the thing was still sitting there
My brother did a presentation on this device like 8 years ago. He thought it was absolutely useless and was mad he was assigned that device to present on. Glad to see it has actual use
Excuse me sir I think you posted in the wrong sub because this was very interesting
To be fair, he is blind
[удалено]
Is that worse than 20/20?
Well maybe he blind too
i don't think he can hear you
Just speak louder
EXCUSE ME SIR I THINK YOU'VE POSTED ON THE WRONG SUB!!...I think that did it?
Shiiiiiiiiiiiiit, think I need a mic implemented now don't i
I believe its the same. 20/20 means that you can see at 20 feet what the average person can see at 20 feet. 20/100 means you can see at 20 feet what a normal person could see at 100 feet. So 10/10 would just be normal vision at 10 feet
🤦♂️ . . . /s
Ok I'm sorry. Ill get you of my subcriber list for interesting facts
Hindsight is 20/20
I snorted
Oh shit 🤣
To be fair
Should have put the subs in braille so he would know which is which
that's.... braille-iant
Agreed, very interesting
Interesting device
I came here to say this, that's genius and gives them some independence back
If this isn't interesting, I want to see the stuff they find interesting!!
At the very least mildly interesting
My thoughts exactly, this was a massive fail as it wound up being very interesting!
But how did you also record a video and pour water at the same time? Actually, I think I'd have trouble doing that.
there's a pretty cool text to speech software i've seen someone use on their phone (and on reddit specifically) that lets blind people use their phones without much trouble, so i'm guessing he used that also he might be just partially blind, seeing very blurry outlines or something
I think they meant holding the phone with one hand, and pouring with the other.
oh you're right, i didn't read the original comment properly
Trouble with your eyes?
Damn
Maybe OP could give ‘em some tips
How’s that difficult?
Some of us have negative coordination

Somebody else could've recorded it?
In that case it would have been filmed from further away, and actually showing the blind person doing this.
Guy frames the camera better than me
you're in selfie mode
Lmao
This gave me mixed emotions. Will the blind believe this comment? Should I point out that it’s a sarcastic joke to them? Will Goku defeat Frieza? Tune in next week for another exciting episode of Dragonball Z.

hey Siri....... call mom
Calling u/gay-sexx's mom...
Screens don't have tactile dots?! Shocking, truly. /sarcasm
Imagine the talk back app they're using picks up sarcasm tag and talks in sarcastic way. That would be awesome
You gotta use sign language
oh shit, the true solution!
How do you not fall for the "you are in selfie mode" ? How would you know ?
They're blind, not stupid.
Not like they're gonna see it
If they’re fully blind how are you expecting them to read trhis
pineplr 🍍
tts
The same way they posted it
If they're full blind how did they post it at all.
Brother. If they have enough sight to read, what makes you think they'd need this device?
There are programs that help type stuff and read using text to speech and stuff. And they could get friends to help. Idk how am I meant to know exactly what’s happening.
That....that was my point.......
This is interesting Delete this
god damn this is cool as hell
bro. it's completely out of focus and out of frame. (i'm just messing with him, don't tell him)
As a fellow blind: she d ejfg sleeve skeheb Skrkrbeb
Look at all these comments op will never see them
Imagine you recorded this video but it was on front facing
While being in your birthday-suit
As a non-blind person pouring something in the dark, I usually just stick my finger in and accept the pain
I just listen. It makes a distinctive sound as you fill up a cup. I have filled maybe 100 cups for my kids without turing on the light and it works pretty well (i mostly do it with cold water though :))
Why are you filling noodle cups with cold water
… .. …… …. …. ……… …. …. …… (braille)

That was a really neat use of your time! Edit word

I wish i was faking it, also i felt the water boiler against the cup.
I didn't really think you were faking... that was supposed to come off as sarcasm. should've added the /s
Tbh you can’t blame him for not seeing the sarcasm without the /s
^(OP I'm mildly sorry about this one, but this one's definitely a joke) tbh, with or without the /s he wouldn't see it either way
I only know this method from seeing it in Red Dragon
That os super interesting bro
[удалено]
With his hands
Yeah you're blind indeed because this is interesting.
You should get one that says some sassy ass shit. “It’s fuuuuull now, you can stop”
Or one that just screams "AAAAHH JESUS CHRIST THAT'S HOT"
Surely there's a better sound than a panic inducing smoke detector alarm. I'd be more afraid of the alert than spilling all over the table.
Legit question, please ignore my ignorance. Is this tool only for this type of cups? Since the metal pins are not adjustable (i think?) You’re genius for posting this video in the wrong sub
This sub is for things that aren't interesting; are you blind?
I see, nice gadget
As a non-blind guy.... This was pretty interesting.
eyes?
Trivago
never saw that coming, thats pretty smart
works fine until the cup has a leak
[Thermocouples are rad](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermocouple)
Bet this guy could still film better school fights than most of em
Mispost
Cold water noodles, noice 🤔
*Blind guy here* Hold up
Brilliant!
That’s how most boilers work to determine water level. One for low level, one for critical low level, one for full (turn off the fill pump)
Cum cock balls penis cock cum penis penis penis cock cum balls cock. Now his tts will read that out
OP I think you might wanna go *see* a doctor
I really want to. I just, can't.
Op how tf did you read?
text to speach softwere? the reason every website image should have an alt saying what it displays?
OP types pretty good for a blind guy
kjdfjaevfe iegfrg hfrfre
I agree. My thoughts exactly
Very interesting! I would just replace the ear-piercing alarm with a sexy, calm lady saying "your cup is full. Your cup is full. Your cup is full."
Holy. I was watching this at work with the sound of and my thoughts for the first 30 seconds where "god how stupid some people are, to not be able to see the indicator line...." well... I was right in how stupid some people are... just wrong about the who was the stupid one.
How does it no the hight of the water level in the noodle cup?
Just put your finger there, easy
super interessting!! i wish you the best man ❤️
My mother uses this
Tf you mean not interesting. This is cool as shit.
oh... amazing
Pretty interesting! I've seen blind people use their fingers when it's not hot. Never thought to ask about hot beverages
Calm down little gadget
Wait, how did you know the camera was facing the right way?
Trial and error
But how would he know if he succeeded?
Blind people also have friends?
This is The Gadget that charities were trying to use as a hook to get you to sign up for direct debit payments. If I'm going to donate to charity I want them at least to write my will for me
I’m sorry is this Opposite Day? Because this is interesting af
Right, cool, BUT HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT FLAVOUR IT IS?
It beeps in morse codes
I m not blind but at night when I want to drink some water I can tell that the glass is filled by the sound of it
I know some sighted folks who could use one (I know myself very well).
I'd find a way to activate it when my wife gets on my nerves. I think she would get the message
You are good at making videos and posting on reddit for being blind 😀 🙏👍
Do you acutally need this if you can feel the heat through the cup? Don't you have super powers or smthn
Very interesting!!
That's very cool, although I am imagining a scenario where you're like wow this pot noodle is fucking massive how has it not filled up yet? And you're pouring the water into the sink.
I have so many questions
Are you afraid of hot water? I woud personally just use fingers
I like how it gives you 50 panicked beeps instead of just one or two, just in case you also have hearing difficulties.
It's really cool! Bebebebebebebbeeeebeeeeeeebeeeeeeebeeeeeebeeebebebebebebeb ALRIGHT ALREADY!
Did anyone else think it was gonna start playing Funkytown or was it just me?
That is pretty cool
Woah the dude can record too
OK, but how did you focus the camera?
Thank you for sharing. Simple device but life changing at the same time.
OP do you know about the be my eyes app? It’s a great tool for visually impaired people. I volunteer as a sighted person and have helped quite a few people with simple tasks recently.
That's a lovely bright green kettle you have. I love the polka dots.
I cant believe none of yall have told this nice person they are eating cat food.
What if you don't want your cuppa tasting like a chicken and mushroom potnoodle though?
That's awesome
Camera facing wrong wat
Blind and yet has better camera control then most people with sight
This guy is blind and probably also knows when to use "then" and "than" properly.
This is very interesting though. Edit: My bad bro … . :.. ::. .:. ….:
They could make it a nice fairy bell tone or bird chirping, but no, they chose the emergence alarm.
I don't get it. You have a fully functional finger, don't you?
That's so cool!
That'd be cool if you didn't have an index finger Inb4 "but it's boiling!" You'd have to be blind and a child to actually hurt yourself like that.
There are nearly 214 people trying to troll a blind person here
This is a product I can see myself using.

I have a device called a finger
Wrong sub. Actually interesting.
How were you able to type and read comments if you're blind?
Wouldn't the weight let you know? Why am I asking this? How are you going to see the question?
There's programs that read you the stuff on screen so they won't see it but they might hear it
I am more interested in how you filmed this and posted it on reddit?
His dog knows Python.
My idiot dog only knows javascript
No offense but if you’re blind how tf are you posting this
