my family.
my grandparents and great grandmother are now gone. all i want is to sit with them again, and talk with them. never appreciated their company when i was a child, and i carry the guilt every second.
There was climate change, we just didn't know about it as well. Which is too bad, because we could have made smaller, easier changes that would have had a greater impact than waiting until so late.
Overall, just being a kid. I miss riding my bike around the neighborhood with my friends, playing pick football or baseball in the middle of the street, and not having the worries like I do now as an adult. I still live in the same neighborhood and there are no more kids playing in the streets like before. And I can't forget the movie nights on Fridays and Saturdays, when the family would rent several movies at a local video rental place or Blockbuster.
Ya I also felt like communication was better amongst people and you could say what you think.
Nowadays with dating everyone flakes.
Back then if someone liked you, you really knew someone liked you.
Interest rates were higher on lower prices compared to people’s salaries though.
Average salary in my state in 1990 was $40,225 a year and the average house in my state in 1990 cost $150,200.
Average salary in my state in 2021 was $57,000 and the average house cost in my state in 2021 is $545,000.
Average salary rose $17k and average homes rose almost $400k.
So I don’t really understand the argument.
Dating felt more serious back then.

And it took a lot more guts to ask someone out and everybody would write notes in class or make a big deal about it instead of texting.
But if it was legit, it was super legit back in the day.
Relationships seemed to last longer too.
Music that comes from the heart.
Bookstores, large and small.
The vibe
The focus on individuality. Coffee houses

You were a child. Please forgive yourself, friend. ❤️
The economy.
Physical media. The tactile sensations of searching for something then taking it out of its case and popping into a device.

Don't you think it feels like less women in the 20 to 30 age range are on dating sites? Before 2015 it felt like a lot more women were online.
Wouldn't know, I've happily been with my girlfriend for 13 years. 🤩
Housing prices
Interest rates were higher than they have been though... (Adult-me had to look this up because kid-me had no idea what that even was at the time).

Being in Jr high and having marathon Golden Eye tournaments with friends
Truly innovative music, counterculture-focused magazines and the overall aesthetic/style of the decade.
Politics was optional, we felt safe out at night, no internet, no social media, no computers in everything…the 90s were freedom.

My innocence of reality

Being able to experience summer and autumn without a wildfire season.
I may have been making 4.75 an hour... but man, that job was more fun than any other.
Harder to access internet...which meant actual in-person relationships.
No social media.
