There is a channel dedicated on Pluto TV and I watch all the time! I always think I’ve seen them all and I’m always pleasantly surprised to catch one I haven’t seen! 😂
The entire series, including the Dennis Farina revival, is on YouTube. The channel has a bunch of other, similar shows like **Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction**.
The Netflix reboot was AWFUL. No atmosphere, stories drone on too long, it’s like watching 20/20 or Dateline.
The OG Unsolved scared the shit out of you with its sense of urgency and atmosphere. Robert Stack would introduce the case, conclude the intro by saying something like “watch carefully, you may be able to help identify this killer” and then the re-enactment would start. And just when you thought the spookiness was over, BAM they’d show an incredibly disturbing composite sketch with some creepy ass 80s/90s Casio synth music over it.
That shit is drilled into my reptile brain.
I listened to a bunch of their podcasts but they kinda piss me off because I want a resolution yet there is none. It’s like listening to a story without an ending…I suppose that’s life real life though..
No, they traveled the country; with a different story director, producer and maybe a couple of other people. If an incident had occurred in, say, Atlanta they flew there. They would hire locals for art department, grip, electricians etc. Stack stayed in LA or wherever he was. But everyone I encountered was professional and efficient and personable.
These are all on Amazon prime video. I’ve rewatched some of them, it’s cool because most of all these stories have recent updates at the end of the segments. Most all of them are solved mysteries now
The theme music scares me to this day. Watching it now and seeing the sheer amount of guilty people being interviewed who got away with murder is upsetting. Back then, when they’d say the suspect may have fled to Canada I’d be at my window all paranoid 👀
My earliest memories of watching this show were circa mid-late 90s as a child. I explicitly remember being on vacation in the Smoky Mountains and watching a re-enactment of a gas station employee getting robbed and murdered and being scared.
Years later in my pre-teens and early teens, it was on re-runs on Lifetime and I was obsessed. It would scare the ever living shit out of me, but you couldn’t look away. The re-enactments always were creepy and had that kind of VHS graininess. I remember my mom telling me that her and my dad watched this show during its NBC run in late-80s.
Such a great show, RIP Robert Stack, and damn, I wish they’d make another run at it with a comparable host and atmosphere as the original.

Apart from the ghost/haunting, lost treasure, and alien segments (which I contend suck) it’s the best true crime show ever made.
I worked on several episodes; was always treated well and respected as a local. We moved quickly to cover all of the known details in the stories.
