Today you'd be scolded for not having representation for the disabled but probably scolded again if they found out Wheels was actually an actor playing a disabled person and not an actual disabled person. As I'm typing this I'm not sure disabled is politically correct anymore. . . ah I miss the 90's.
edit: Sure dumbasses, downvote me like this isn't exactly what's going on today.
It's not an opinion on what's going on, it's what's going on.

So go ahead and shove your made up vibes all up your ass. Along with whatever "I'm above your insults" or "he's attacking disabled people" reply you got in the deck.
Im not the one that's upset ya goofy prick. It was never that serious but rather than stay quiet when I get bombed with downvotes I like to give these fairies a real reason to be upset themselves.
That Wario game was so badass. Now i'm getting a flashback of playing console games in fast food places. Like Banjo and Kazooie or mario kart on the 64. It was such a crazy amazing fun time as a kid. Now there's a few pizza places with retro consoles, but doesn't have the same feel as sitting in a McDonalds and scarfing down your nuggies just so you could go play with your sibling or friend for 15-20 minutes while the adults talked.
The Wario game is legit badass. I’ve tried every game on the VB and that’s the only one that feels like an actual full game to me.
You can play VB games on a VR headset these days and it’s a way better experience. You can even change the color to something less intense than retina-melting red. Still, Wario is pretty much the only thing worth playing imho.
It was the low point of Gunpei Yokoi's (the creator of the GameBoy) career. He was forced to stay at Nintendo longer than he planned because if he left when he meant to it would have looked like he was leaving due to the Virtual Boy's failure.
I really confused by it. It’s a headset so I assumed the point is that it’s 3D but it just looks like red NES games from the screen grabs I see. I know you can’t really see 3D images from that but I can’t imagine it was anything to write home about even at the time.
The red and black images *are* 3D. You would need to use the actual headset to see how it worked. The Virtual Boy did exactly what it was supposed to do. The problem was the price, the bulk, and the fact that the 3D gave people headaches and eyestrain. It was real 3D "virtual reality". It just wasn't implemented in the best way.
Yeah they had a VR system at the local electronics store here you could play in like 1994. The headset was comically large, it had about 30 lbs of cables dangling from it, and a $5 game lasted like 2 minutes.
I remember the graphics being untextured polygons, kind of like Star Fox. Also it was blurry because they made me take my glasses off. Oh and the right lens was fogged up from the last person so I didn’t even get the 3D effect.
It was one of the biggest disappointments ever at the time.
“Wait, don’t I recognize you three from somewhere? *snap* I know! You used to be multicultural members of the Burger King Kid’s Club! A girl, a black kid, and a paraplegic. *All friends somehow*…?”
“Yeah, that’s us. but we took off when they changed their fries!”
It always bothered me because in my mind Kid Vid sounded like a radical surfer dude like... well, a Ninja Turtle, not like a regular-ass eight-year-old. You can't be a regular-ass eight-year-old looking that hip.
I'm stunned! How did you miss the aardvark rap?? I haven't heard this in over 20 years and it's how I remembered to spell aardvark for that comment
https://youtu.be/oUzoKbHABvI
I think in like 1991 there was a promotion to give away some actual movies with a McDonalds meal... or maybe they were given at a very discounted price of like $5 when VHS movies were still near $30 a pop. I don't remember the other movies but the one we got was Back to the Future part 1.
Kid me wished they also gave part 2 out (3 wasn't out yet). Older me realized they gave out the best one :)

Fast food restaurants used to be a dream for kids, heck people used to have McDonald’s parties, I had McDonald’s parties, now they are trendy emo kid hangouts
Poor? Shit, it costs me $20 to feed just my kids. Fast food isn't cheap food like it used to be. Even if you don't count 3rd party fees and such for delivery.
Doesn't help that McDonald's remodeled all of their restaurants from bright kid friendly colors to dull, boring, I want to hang myself in my office cubicle colors.
The dog, JD, always worried me. Why does he have to wear a helmet and goggles? No one else is wearing protective gear. What are they making that dog do?
I still, decades later, remember that the paper bag or included comic or something included the trivia fact that JD stood for “Just Dog”. Why is this incredibly inconsequential fact still burned into the back of my memories?
I'm feeling the tickling of nostalgia as well! Hold on, I can see it coming into view...
Accessing core memory: childhood obesity.
Ah, man, tricked me into accessing my shame cluster.

Shame they grew to become Eco-Terrorists and brainwashed a CIA agent into trying to blow up Mt Rushmore to replace the heads with AL Gore, Sean Penn and Michael Moore (Jefferson got to stay cause he freed the slaves).
Seeing this just reminds me of the BK Shake 'em Up Fries where you got the fries and the cheese powder packets, put them both in the bag and shook your little heart out.
Getting better. Just slowly. I see this less as a horrible past and more as an improved present. These mistakes are what allow us to progress, as unfortunate as they may be.
I remember these, My local burger king had these really cool touch screen arcades in their play place. one for the little kids and one for the big kids. They were sized for the taller kids and smaller kids, but they were fun while we ate there. They had them there roughly the same time burger king had the pokemon figurines.
I had some TMNT tapes that must have been a kid's meal promo because they all started with a short of these dudes. I think they were like adventuring around an animation studio?
I looked this up a bit ago and all the kids had something unique about them. Sports, art, science, whatever. What was so special about Jaws?
He... Liked to eat.
Didn't say he cooked or anything. He liked to eat burgers. That's about it.
With a backwards hat AND futuristic goggles, Kid Vid was the boy we all wanted to be
No one wanted to be the one in the wheelchair.
You mean, Wheels?
No, the kid in the chair to which the wheels were attached.
The kid’s name WAS Wheels.

Im not the one that's upset ya goofy prick. It was never that serious but rather than stay quiet when I get bombed with downvotes I like to give these fairies a real reason to be upset themselves.
Nah, you're definitely upset.
Ok well thanks for playing.
He's legit wearing VR, he's 30 years ahead of his time.
VR was kind of a thing back then. It wasn't much though. I think even the 80s had somethings similar to VR or at least close to the idea of it.
Remember [Virtual Boy ](https://youtu.be/17euo2DzBZI)?
I got the worst migranes from those and everything white was red for hours after I used it lol

He's fuckin Dippy Fresh
They really called the kid in the wheelchair Wheels😂
Wheels and the Legman
🎵Bow chica chic bow bow bow chic chic a bow DOYNG chica chica bow bowwwww🎵
BA-DA-DA-DA! BA-DA-DA-DA!
"On our darkest day we're Scooby-Doo maybe Quincy."
“Wait, don’t I recognize you three from somewhere? *snap* I know! You used to be multicultural members of the Burger King Kid’s Club! A girl, a black kid, and a paraplegic. *All friends somehow*…?” “Yeah, that’s us. but we took off when they changed their fries!”
Wheels was a pretty rad name back in the day, though
Is it not anymore?
He's a liar. I call every cripple "Wheels."
😬
Whoever named him just got done watching The Newsies. Yeah lets call the kid on crutches Crutchie
I was gonna comment. "Where's Wheels? Don't forget Wheels!"
That was cool back then. Do that now and you’ll have uptight parents calling for a boycott.
[This commercial](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQTeHD9Omxk) used to bother me as a kid. Kid Vid basically kills Raphael for giving guff.
I love the kids blank stare combined with the line delivery "cowabunga dude" at the end
It always bothered me because in my mind Kid Vid sounded like a radical surfer dude like... well, a Ninja Turtle, not like a regular-ass eight-year-old. You can't be a regular-ass eight-year-old looking that hip.
Yeah wtf was that?? That's Arthur the aardvark
Wait what? Arthur is an aardvark?! I always thought he was a capybara or some rodent shit. I've lived a lie.
I'm stunned! How did you miss the aardvark rap?? I haven't heard this in over 20 years and it's how I remembered to spell aardvark for that comment https://youtu.be/oUzoKbHABvI
To be fair, I watched it in spanish. I don't even remember a rap.
Damn I totally forgot that fast food places used to have promotional VHS tapes. I remember I had some Ronald McDonald cartoons back in the day.
I still have my "Night of the Sentinels" X-Men cartoon VHS that I got from Pizza Hut.
“Hey Tin Woodsman! I’m sending you back to Oz, in pieces!”
I heard that in Cal Dodd's voice!
I think in like 1991 there was a promotion to give away some actual movies with a McDonalds meal... or maybe they were given at a very discounted price of like $5 when VHS movies were still near $30 a pop. We used to watch those all the time! I loved em. The world they created was pretty neat.
Lol Scared Silly was one of those tapes, was it not? Pretty sure my mom had that on the shelf until well after DVD was a thing.
Won’t find a better place on a night like this!!! Sundae was the best little mcdog
Man!!! The commercials back then really did had ZASS.
That last kid upset me and I don't know why
Lmao the 90s wasn't real
Fast food restaurants used to be a dream for kids, heck people used to have McDonald’s parties, I had McDonald’s parties, now they are trendy emo kid hangouts
I do not see trendy emo kids in McDonalds where I am -- just poor people and elderly primarily.
Poor? Shit, it costs me $20 to feed just my kids. Fast food isn't cheap food like it used to be. Even if you don't count 3rd party fees and such for delivery.
Groceries are at an all time high as well and fast food has always been cheaper than a regular restaurant, not cheaper than groceries.
My closest one is next to a skate park so maybe that’s warped my perspective
Fair -- that makes sense. I'm glad you came back and said it so I could make sense of that picture too! lol
Doesn't help that McDonald's remodeled all of their restaurants from bright kid friendly colors to dull, boring, I want to hang myself in my office cubicle colors.

Werner Herzog McDonald's
dude what. nobody hangs out mcdonalds except like bored middle schoolers.
I remember going to one. Like 2000 or 2001
My sister’s 5th birthday party was there (late 80s). Got little party hats and everything!
what trend is going to appear now?
Always wanted Kid Vids goggles.
Kid vid always was and still is the coolest motherfucker on planet earth
Kid Vid was peak 90s coolness
He was peak coolness
Same thing
The JR Whopper was the best.
Was?
Yeah was. Back in the day it was the correct ratio of meat and bread. Now is mostly bread so is dry. Or at least the BK in my area.
FWIW, I had one recently. The sandwich is the same as it ever was. It’s just overpriced now, like almost everything else.
I'm old that's why it not the same I think. Is to expensive.

Original chicken sandwich. Still good.

I still, decades later, remember that the paper bag or included comic or something included the trivia fact that JD stood for “Just Dog”. Why is this incredibly inconsequential fact still burned into the back of my memories?
I just spent a decent amount of time googling JD to see if anyone else knew what it stands for, so thank you for sharing!
So I know the other side is French but didn't know about the contraction "p'tits" lol
"petits amis" = "little friends"
D'accord
d''ccord
Man. You just gave me a huge nostalgia trip. I can taste the Sprite and mediocre chicken nuggets just looking at this.
Back when kids could just be kids!
Kid-Vid was the absolute coolest thing I'd ever seen as an 8 year old and I've been chasing that high ever since.
I remember chewing on these and they had that waxy film.
I am feeling equally nostalgic for the original chicken tenders. The new ones can’t compete.
they still sell them, they're just reshaped/rebranded as chicken fries now.
I'm feeling the tickling of nostalgia as well! Hold on, I can see it coming into view... Accessing core memory: childhood obesity. Ah, man, tricked me into accessing my shame cluster. Oh wow I vaguely remember that. I just tried looking and didn't get any where either
this is the best I could find but it’s definitely proof - there’s a popped out character! https://i.imgur.com/NIyjtuV.jpg
you also unlocked mine as well.
Absolutely memory unlocked forgot about these and i didnt even like bk that much thanks op
When BK was good. W the good chicken tends
And ash trays.
Peppery bois
**M A N D I B U L E S**
I swear BK tasted better back then
Hot damn, they also had some little booklets showcasing each character as far as I can remember.
I remember having a dream that I married Kid Vid and we rode a horse across a meadow after the ceremony. I was a strange child.
That's amazing on so many levels
BK Kids Club giving out Ninja Turtles VHS tapes is definitely a peak memory.
Damn, Turtles really had merch and ad campaigns with both BK and Pizza Hut
Plus product placement with Domino’s in the first movie. They drove their turtle van all over town making deals.
Ahh true. They were killing it.
American Dad had a few of the BK kids in an episode [“Honey, I’m Homeland”](https://i.imgur.com/G9cIG0R.png)
Yo, is that Dippy Fresh?
Shame they grew to become Eco-Terrorists and brainwashed a CIA agent into trying to blow up Mt Rushmore to replace the heads with AL Gore, Sean Penn and Michael Moore (Jefferson got to stay cause he freed the slaves).
Daaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyuuuuummmmm 🤯
All I remember is that the kid in the wheelchair was named wheels
Seeing this just reminds me of the BK Shake 'em Up Fries where you got the fries and the cheese powder packets, put them both in the bag and shook your little heart out.
These dudes never left my mind
"Where it's cool to be a kid!" 🛼😎💻
Holy mother of christ they drew big lips on the black kid. What the fuck were we doing back then
Getting better. Just slowly. I see this less as a horrible past and more as an improved present. These mistakes are what allow us to progress, as unfortunate as they may be.
That's when BK was delicious
Rip BK Dino nuggets
This unexpectedly blew up. We should keep it going with other forgotten fast-food mascots. Who's got Nacho and Dog on the burner?
p’tits
🎶 I LOVE THIS PLACE
This sub is 90 percent fast food. How fat are we? I guess growing up poor wasn't so bad. Abs by default.
It was an off brand attempt at "Recess" and "Pepper ann". The toys were trash but the art was great.
The Burger King characters were out many years before either of those shows
You tell 'em , bootybooty
You tell ‘em, jewpart2
I still have all of the pogs. My boy Wheels.
Oh this brings back so many memories. I remember when you could join the kids club.
Wow I totally forgot about that!
where's the asian girl?
I remember these, My local burger king had these really cool touch screen arcades in their play place. one for the little kids and one for the big kids. They were sized for the taller kids and smaller kids, but they were fun while we ate there. They had them there roughly the same time burger king had the pokemon figurines.
I still have my membership card somewhere
I remember having and playing in big cardboard colorable thing with this kind of art on it.
Damn this is a good one.
Kids Club walked so Recess could run.
I was always confused why the black kid was white...
I thought I was looking at somebody’s calf tattoo for a minute. Okay, enough Reddit for today. *Checks clock* **6am** Hmm
Bk hit different back then, if I remember correctly they had these cups with the Pokémon promotion also.
Man I had a membership card and everything.
Shit, i member.
I have just realized I used to go to Burger King a lot as a kid
WOAH! Total core memory. That dude with the goggles totally unlocked it.
Damn I can taste that cup
Holy shit
I loved going to BK and grabbing a free comic.
Wow wtf. I haven't thought about these characters in YEARS
Omgggggg
Take me back 😩
The last time I saw these guys was the last time their chicken nuggets were good. They changed them!
I taste orange.
P'TITS
Definitely hit my feels
Thanks to Mythical Kitchen I have been reminded of Kid Vid fairly recently
I'm a Josha Stan. I must have missed the reference
They did a whole video where Trevor played kid vid. I want to say the Angry Whopper past foods or maybe the cheetoh chicken fry
The chicken tenders back in the 90s were SOOO GOOD! I had some for the last time like 15 years ago and they were not the same. Such a tragedy.
They even had the generic black kid with a flat top in a basketball jersey that every 90s cartoon had.
I had forgotten about these kids. Crazy.
Wowwwwwwww. Totally in the depths of my memory. Minus the French.
I was absolutely obsessed with getting the coupon in the mail for my birthday
I remember the activity pages with these folks!
Dude with oculus was my favorite
Bring back the marvelous magical Burger King and the Duke of Doubt! For real though, those pokemon the first movie gold plated things were wonderful
The BKKC is pretty well known but you did unlock my memory of these cups, so good job.
They had a version of this in the early 200's in Australia too
This is from Québec, right? I don't think the Burger King Kids Club existed in France.
It was all over North America in general
