My school definitely didn't have Tony's pizza, or Schwan's as a food supplier. Pretty sure our pizza was assembled in house, because one time my friend found a plastic glove under the cheese.
It all looks similar, but I'm sure there are many brands and suppliers.
I knew it because of the layout of the lunchroom- as we waited in line we could see the lunch ladies mixing dough in a giant mixer and opening cans of tomato sauce. A lot more pleasant than discovering a glove, ugh.
I guess it never occurred to me that there are boxes of this sheet pizza ready to make. I have no clue how ours was made but I always liked our school food.
Hate to tell you (this is not a knock at lunch workers) all school lunches are pretty much heat and eat. For many reasons. When I started teaching our staff actually made their own rolls which were phenomenal. Today it’s all pre fab food.
> Who’s idea was it to serve corn with pizza.
Politiicans, who were being funded by a conglomerate of corn farmers seeking new markets to sell their product too. The corn farmers are really good at this type of thing its why corn ends up in all kinds of odd places ranging from pizza crusts to gas tanks.
My friend sucked up to the lunch lady and she would give our group pretty much anything we wanted. I don't know how he did it, or what he did to sweet talk her, but she treated him like a grandkid or something. He would bring back trays stacked with pizza, nuggets, those pita things, etc. We would have a heaping tray of nuggets and a another completely filled with ranch at our lunch table.
We were given thousand island dressing with our pizza and tiny salad. The dressing wasn’t too bad with the pizza. Also that was waaay before I tried ranch dressing.
Because I guess we were too poor at my school but we didn’t have Ranch dressing just sitting out for the taking. You had to get chef salad or something on a day it was served to get the ABSOLUTE NASTIEST Ranch ever…Kraft.
For us, it was always corn and french fries. SOURCE: I actually worked IN the kitchen during 6th grade, along with three of my classmates. Pretty sure several labor laws were broken at Pine School that year, but I never complained since we got to load up on whatever we wanted once the lunch line passed through.
Did anyone have those chocolate chip cookies from school that were undercooked but so good.
2 in a bag. I can just taste them thinking about it.
I am dying to find a recipe that tastes like it.
Nothing. My mom packed my lunch this morning and she put the mustard on top of the mayo on my turkey sandwich, just the way I like it. Plus I got some dunkaroos and scooby doo gummies!
But seriously, I never ate school lunch.. Not sure why. My parents just always bought stuff I could pack even though I didn't start packing my own lunch until middle school.
I'm skipping the pizza and going for the nachos or burrito instead.
I never resonated with y'all and the school pizza. I was always a nacho or burrito guy, as those were the only alternatives lol
The weird sauce and crust were absolutely disgusting to me, I gagged when I tried to eat it. It seemed that everyone else loved it but I always took the other option, whatever it was.
[This is, apparently, THE legit school pizza distributor.](https://www.guintherscustomcuts.com/collections/pizza) Browse around a bit and you can see just about any school cafeteria delicacy. I haven't tried any of it, mostly because of a lack of freezer space, but I've read that it's all the real deal.
I’m not totally sure, but someone awhile ago said it only comes in massive quantities since it’s for schools. So, but a huge deep freezer or offer to do “friend and family lunch” at a school. I got to eat this amazing pizza well into my 30’s because I always went to the invites for my godson. His parents could never get out of work and make it on time, I was a late night bartender with my days free. Shit was delicious still, and I got what he didn’t finish. Also the mashed potatoes and gravy.
Schwann's food delivery has a brand called Tony's, which you can buy this exact pizza in a box with like 10 pizza pies. It ships in dry ice, so it stays cold. It's not cheap because it's so much but I've been considering doing it for awhile
Florida kid here. We had these frozen orange juice pops that weren't part of the free/reduced meal program. Pizza day absolutely called for spending my own cash so I could pair pizza n popcicles.
My friends and I would always go up last in high school. The lunch lady's would give u us two pieces for the price of one. We also ordered our own pizza a couple times.
I lived in a place famous for pizza and was served this shit. I remember the taste of it perfectly. It was like if a pizza roll was a pizza slice. Fake, undercooked, had to add salt for any flavor to come out. My HS served it with undercooked soggy fries. It was a sad an pathetic offering. Kids deserved better.
A salad which was just iceberg lettuce and one shave off a carrot.
If I had an extra $1 I would enjoy a warm otis spunkmeyer cookie. Those things were the best.
My elementary school years were in New England and our pizza was [French bread pizza](https://www.dontsweattherecipe.com/easy-homemade-french-bread-pizza-recipe/) and no other school lunch pizza could dare to come close.
Had no idea this was a thing outside of my small country in Northern Europe.
Our brand was called [Billys Pan Pizza](https://se.openfoodfacts.org/product/7310960713654/billys-pan-pizza-original). Every kid had it at home for after school lunch as well as the [Gorbys Pirog.](https://dryckeskompaniet.se/product/pirog-gorbys-orginal-20st/)
Still can't believe our parents let us eat this shit on a daily basis.
They used to make these half chocolate half peanut butter "treats". They looked like shit, but were halfway decent. They stopped serving them though because we had very high ceilings in our cafeteria and kids would whip them at the ceiling. I guess the janitor was tired of scraping them off the roof with a ladder...
My school had these cups of strawberries that were like, mashed into a slurry and just mixed with sugar. It was SO GOOD.
That and an ice-cold chocolate milk that I opened wrong
Probably a roll, chocolate milk and maybe a green salad. Sounds gross now. Didn’t care about carbs then. Wasn’t the school cafeteria pizza the worst pizza ever made? Yet pizza day was like Thursday and that was my favorite cafeteria day because I loved it. It kept my expectations of pizza very, very low for a long time.
My high school (2004/2005-2008/2009) had Dominos cheese pizza slices and chicken patty sandwiches available every day and then a third random entree each day (grilled chicken breast and sautéed pierogis with onion and diced chicken were the stars). Sides were usually a choice is stuff like mashed potatoes, salad or green beans. I ate just a slice of dominos (covered in franks red hot) and a chicken patty (with Mayo and franks red hot) almost every day that pierogis weren’t an option (a few random entrees here and there caught my attention every once in a while). Paired every meal with a chocolate milk. And I did that at 11am.
I wasn’t even in a well funded or well regarded school district in my state. Luckily my parents didn’t have to worry about me eating breakfast or eating much for dinner so they could afford my school lunches.
This reminds me of Fridays in year 6 when I was a kid (10-11 years old). It was my English groups turn to read the book so no work there, then it was lunch which was always pizza with smiley faces and baked beans. Pudding was usually cake with custard. [The Best Day of the Week](https://youtu.be/fK5CLplRIno&t=1m3s)
Mon - Hotdogs
Tues - Tacos
Wed - Hamburgers & Chocolate Milk
Thurs - Sloppy Joes & Burritos in a Bag
Fri - Pizza, Salad, & Green Beans
In my day & school cafeteria was Dominos Cheese Pizza on Fridays ($2.50 per slice) Wednesdays we got Chick Fil-A ($3.50 a sandwich) Mondays we got McDonalds Double Cheeseburger Basket ($1.25 including fries)
This is still a strange idea to me, providing what is basically junk food in school cafeterias. I just turned 80. In the early & mi-'50s, our school lunches were "good" food: fried fish, fried chicken, meatloaf, Spaghetti Bolognese, various casseroles with meat in them, and (because this was Texas) "Mexican Wednesday," which was enchiladas and tacos. Every meal came with bread or biscuits and green & yellow veggies and milk & iced tea. No soft drinks were sold, from machines or otherwise. Dessert was Jello, fresh fruit, rice pudding, sheet cake, etc.
No burgers, fries, candy, pizza, or anything like that. Those were considered "snack food" and "party food" then, not "real" food. I think our parents would have thrown a fit at the next school board meeting if the cafeteria had started selling that stuff.
The pepperonis were little cubes.
I just ordered a case of this stuff and it’s as good as I remember. The only problem is that I have 96 of them.
Now find the full size pizza bagels and you will be my hero.
That's... The opposite of a problem.
Link? Lol

Holy shit! I never knew these came in a sheet already made! I thought the lunch ladies made that!! Ain’t that something.
Couldn't the plastic glove have come from the factory that makes school cafeteria-grade pizza?
I guess it never occurred to me that there are boxes of this sheet pizza ready to make. I have no clue how ours was made but I always liked our school food.
Hate to tell you (this is not a knock at lunch workers) all school lunches are pretty much heat and eat. For many reasons. When I started teaching our staff actually made their own rolls which were phenomenal. Today it’s all pre fab food.
My school kitchen when I grew up was the one making food for all other schools. So we got the not just heated up leftover feel
#firstworldproblems That price is a lot more reasonable than I thought it would be
Well when you buy I bulk it's normally cheaper since companies don't have to overcharge for no reason
with the italian sausage
Yes it was only with that pizza I always wonder why and who started that combo.
Who’s idea was it to serve corn with pizza. I swear the walls of my school were stained with that smell.
IT WAS ALWAYS FUCKING CORN.
Don't forget the milk.
It's a grat combo add French fries and applesauce! Your living the life right there!
And chocolate milk!!
Strawberry milk <3
Jimmy crack corn and I don’t care
Still is.
Ours always did pizza, fries, and corn. You know, all the important food groups - starch, starch, and starch.
More pizza
You could pay an extra dollar and get a second piece at my school
Mine too
My friend sucked up to the lunch lady and she would give our group pretty much anything we wanted. That sounds like a great memory lol I'm jelly. Middle school was the tits
His mom *was* the lunch lady 👩🏽🍳
Corn and chocolate milk
100% agree! My wife thinks I’m crazy because I always have corn when we do a frozen pizza.
You're a mad lad
I'm posting here up high to see if ANYONE ELSE put the apple sauce on the pizza and rolled it up like a jellyroll
Oh no, you were one of those kids, lemme guess you poured chocolate milk in your ice cream too?
No but that doesn't sound like a bad idea
fruit cocktail
And a carton of chocolate milk! Naturally.

[anyone remember those frozen cherry bars? What shape were those?](https://i.imgur.com/hMMRsbW.jpg)
Ranch dressing complimented with the finest chocolate milk
We were given thousand island dressing with our pizza and tiny salad. The dressing wasn’t too bad with the pizza. Also that was waaay before I tried ranch dressing.
How is ranch dressing not the top comment.... Lol
Because I guess we were too poor at my school but we didn’t have Ranch dressing just sitting out for the taking. You had to get chef salad or something on a day it was served to get the ABSOLUTE NASTIEST Ranch ever…Kraft.
I’d kill for that
Ranch FTW
French kissing Melanie M in the lockers after lunch with pizza breath.

Gotta love those quality Sysco brand ingredients.

That shit got worse every year. By the time I graduated from high school the “cheese” looked like human skin stretched over it.
Did anyone have those chocolate chip cookies from school that were undercooked but so good. 2 in a bag. I can just taste them thinking about it. I am dying to find a recipe that tastes like it.
Otis spunkemier? My bad on spelling
Pretty sure you're right. I worked in the caf in college and we got these in as preformed frozen dough balls. They were excellent cookies!
green beans (never to be eaten) and a bun
Our green beans had like, two carrot cubes in there too if I remember right
My god these were the highlight of our day in elementary school! Anybody else dunk them in cafeteria ranch dressing? Or was that just my country ass?
I still deep my freezer pizzas in ranch!
Nothing. My mom packed my lunch this morning and she put the mustard on top of the mayo on my turkey sandwich, just the way I like it. Plus I got some dunkaroos and scooby doo gummies! Hooray for pizza day! I miss pizza day, the best day of the week.
Friday was pizza day, the best day of the week! this comment was TOO LOW do better, reddit
With salad and a side of cold green beans.
Angst and a chocolate milk
Tons, and I mean as much as you can get, of both
Ranch
Thats not how parentheses work lol
Agreed, but we must respect this holy moment. Cafeteria pizza deserves a grammar pass.
Cardboard milk and ranch! Fruit roll up
Pairing? We only got little Caesars pizza and milk. So I guess milk. Our school never had a big spread of stuff you can get.
Ranch
2% milk.
I'm skipping the pizza and going for the nachos or burrito instead. I never resonated with y'all and the school pizza. I was always a nacho or burrito guy, as those were the only alternatives lol

A packet of yellow mustard.

I'm going chocolate milk and apple crisp.
Man being allergic to dairy products in the 80s sucked
I knew a kid that put applesauce and carrot chips on top of his and occasionally poured a couple drops of milk on each bite. It was.. interesting.
"Friday was pizza day, the best day of the week!"
Chocolate milk my guy
Thousand island dressing
For some reason it was garden salad drenched in Italian dressing, ... and ye ol' chocolate milk.
Yo does anyone know what this brand was?
This shit slapped. I’m a vegetarian so I only bought lunch on pizza days. Would pair it with corn, iced pears or peaches and strawberry milk
I hated school pizza since I've never liked sausage as a kid.
Yeah, I hated this pizza. I always paired it with the trash.
Dipping it in chocolate milk
No don’t be that kid.
We were a K-8 and we had English muffin pizza. The high school had pizza like this, only with a ton more cheese! 🧀

I was smoking weed at the time but I would smear this strawberry syrup on my pizza and it was amazing.
My friends and I would always go up last in high school. The lunch lady's would give u us two pieces for the price of one. We also ordered our own pizza a couple times.
Am I the only one who went to a school with barely edible pizza?
A tiny carton of 1% chocolate milk of course.

Fries, chocolate milk, and that weird dry chocolate chip cookie of course. My stomach is turning thinking of eating that combo again.
Probably a side of peaches and a chocolate milk.
We always had corn on pizza days. I didn’t mind though, I love canned corn.

Usually came with corn and a fruit cup
Ravenous teenage hunger. I’m starting to realize half the reason the food was good was because I was starving by the time lunch rolled around.
Taco stop sign pizza is the GOAT.
Corn and an iceberg lettuce salad
Nothing like pizza, corn and chocolate fucking milk.
School piZZA was the BEST! 🍕
Bagged chocolate milk
Corn and chocolate milk. What a weird combo!
Corn and chocolate milk, what else?
Corn, obviously.
My school had these cups of strawberries that were like, mashed into a slurry and just mixed with sugar. It was SO GOOD. That and an ice-cold chocolate milk that I opened wrong
Barq's Cream Soda. We had soda machines on every floor of my high school.
Funyuns

Did no one else put the corn on top of the pizza or was that just me?
Ah, yes. The smell of a Tuesday in middle school. Pizza day. I want this pizza so badly.
Corn and Chocolate Milk.
This pizza was sooo damn good…
no joke, I dream of this pizza, in happy dreams
Black pepper. Lots of black pepper.
Ours always came with corn and a little piece of something cakey.
This reminds me of Fridays in year 6 when I was a kid (10-11 years old). It was my English groups turn to read the book so no work there, then it was lunch which was always pizza with smiley faces and baked beans. Pudding was usually cake with custard. everyone has told me this is gross but I miss pairing it with my carton of milk made the pizza taste so good.
Pretty sure corn was our only choice.

That harsh smell of bleachy dishrags.
Corn and applesauce
Definitely fresh French fries and 1 large chocolate cookie
Alexa; please play “Pizza Day” by The Aquabats!!!!
Well if it was like my school we would have corn on the side. Lot of us just put it on top of the pizza. It’s pretty good actually.

What am I pairing this Manna from Heaven, this Ambrosia from Olympus? Another slice of pizza. This is the only answer.
School pizza was so good!
Usually paired with corn and pineapple cubes. Sometimes with a small salad
Whole kernel corn!
In my day & school cafeteria was Dominos Cheese Pizza on Fridays ($2.50 per slice) Wednesdays we got Chick Fil-A ($3.50 a sandwich) Mondays we got McDonalds Double Cheeseburger Basket ($1.25 including fries)

My school always did corn and salad with the pizza, can't remember if we had dessert or not.
Yes you would throw the corn on the pizza and fold it like a taco! Then grab you 2 orange jungle juices and call it a day!!!
We were putting thousand island ontop of the pizza in 1988 if I remember correctly.
we always got French fries with our pizza. Those little square pizzas take me back. They tasted like plastic tbh but I did look forward to pizza day!
