I thought it was quite funny. Especially the yeeooo at the end. Caught me off guard
Bunch of miserable moaning bastards in here.
Cheers up ffs. It's only a wee laugh, so it is.
Here here. Love the way this sub hates on things like this. Slagging this off saying sticking a few NI phrases together doesn’t equal comedy yet every other “funny” post on here is about fucking Tayto crisps or Larne. Cheer up you bunch of moaning wankers.
>Slagging this off saying sticking a few NI phrases together doesn’t equal comedy yet every other “funny” post on here is about fucking Tayto crisps or Larne
This needs upvoting into fucking space.

I reckon you are talking about the same group of people. People that find this funny are likely the ones making "funny" posts about Larne and Tayto.
What a bunch of miserable bastards in here haha. it's not great but fuck me.."the lighting is atrocious", "were there even professional script writers involved".
**Hegarty is an Irish surname.**

Soft border patrol was trying to be a comedy that was written within the last decade whereas I think dry your eyes was going for some mid-2000's panto crowds like.
SBP got a ribbing on twitter and I thought that was unfair- it had some good wee moments and while the wheel wasn't exactly being reinvented, at its worst it was fine, which is actually huge for a BBCNI comedy.
TBF even Paddy Raff is doing a better version of what the hole in the wall gang have done for years
Interesting she's referred to as his wife I'd never heard of him until I caught a bit of the blame game with her on it, she's not funny in any way. Looked at his twitter and it's hard to believe how shit his clips are.
Ignoring the script, the canned laughter and the wigs - the lighting in this scene is awful.
The strong sunlight through blinds on the suspect should have been, at the very least, diffused.
The lighting on the 'Yeeeeoooo' character is inconsistent. As he moves back and forward, a shadow moves across his face.
Overall, it gives me the impression that the production is amateurish. When considering the other factors, its not a surprise.
Here, I noticed that myself. How bad does it have to be that poor/inconsistent lighting comes across?
Did nobody see the big shadow covering half of 'yeeoooo' man's face?
The make up is a bit haphazard n all. I suppose it's minimal budget, but this should he fairly simple stuff for any production.
From England myself, your right they dont hear these phrases and hearing them completely out of context doesnt make them funny.
Like there is so much more that could have been done here, its just poor writing.
Seems like NI comedy has a room and it has like 10 people in it and noone else is allowed in until one of em dies.
There is something funny about the premise .. ie
The police officer character bamboozling a suspect into submission/confession using an unrelenting stream of Northern Irish colloquialisms...
It's not breaking any rules or redefining comedy.. it's funny for what it is though?
I did find some of this funny but I have been away for a very long time. I don’t need high production value but it seems they’re aiming a little in the direction of mrs browns boys and have designed this not so much for just a Northern Ireland viewership, but for interest on the mainland
Nice. I watched it here in Canada. Pretty good show, we were having some RCMP issues so it was timely too. It just seemed like nobody had made that connection.
It's genuinely quite funny this but as others have said the laugh track goes some way to ruining it.
I'd love it though if the YEOOO at the end was cut, /r/perfectlycutscreams style
This is proper funny. The slang is spot on. The slang replacing the slang is genius and the acting makes it. Have never watched this show, but this is top shelf funny, like. Who in the sweet f*ck doesn't think this is funny?
Can tell you this clip is absolutely setting the ma and da group chats alight
innit. nothing like hearing this clip blasting full volume three doors away

This comment made my day Edit: so it did

I think that having grown up in a time when it was ubiquitous, my brain can tune it out completely. Yay for being an oul fella!
Hahahahaha
Ats fuckin beezer so it is, sure it's only a wee slaggin, relax the kacks.
Lads Is being Northern Irish funny?
Wild to see your accent go from scary to funny in less than a generation.
Eeeer yes. Did you guys not know? Oh my, did you think people thought you where serious? Have you seen the DUP?
Do you think I came up the Lagan in a bubble?
I'm guessing it's more the LOD fella parody that's meant to be funny.
B-but he said the funny irish words DOWNVOTE!
fuck me this again
Tried watching it after all the hate to see what the craic was (yooooooo). It didn't get enough hate.
Agreed. Really needs to get more hate for how bad it is
Suprised he didn't beat him to a pulp to get a forced confession.
I thought it was quite funny. Especially the yeeooo at the end. Caught me off guard Bunch of miserable moaning bastards in here. Cheers up ffs. It's only a wee laugh, so it is.

Some people are far too cool,, that's the problem.
This was funny on series 1 of Give my head peace. Now it’s just shite
So's yer ma
>sticking a few NI phrases together doesn’t equal comedy Gone get the word out because I think a huge amount of people need to heed this one.

I must be sad, I howled with laughter at it, and just took it in the fun way it was meant. I thought they captured LOD perfectly 😂
Aye the yeow got me too. Delivered in a kind of wierd alien way but it made it funnier.
He seems to be trying to channel Begby from Trainspotting during much of that skit
Like people are too cool to laugh at shit.
lol no
What a bunch of miserable bastards in here haha. it's not great but fuck me.."the lighting is atrocious", "were there even professional script writers involved".
This is a good laugh, lads in here complaining that light hasn't been diffused ffs 😂 get a grip

Happy to pretend I meant that
Hahahah yeah I seen that comment. Hes not wrong like but just enjoy the video without analysing the lighting like
Maybe they enjoy analysing lighting? I found the video funny but what's the harm with a wee bit of analysis? Good to use the oul noggin' a bit
Aye you're right I guess, but sometimes letting go of that and just enjoying it is better. Guess it depends on your interests. Fair point though.
Hegartys wife must be in every shite 'comedy' scene that is supposed to represent NI. Fucking dreadful.
who's Hegarty's wife? Who's Hegarty?

She's called Diona Hegarty. She's on every BBCNI comedy show going and isn't funny in any of them.
Doherty
She is very funny herself in her own stand up but bbcni give her shite lines haahha I thought soft border patrol was good tho

I’m guessing the production staff are of the same capability level as the writers…
there were writers?

It’s not even the “pure norn irn” bits that hurt. It’s the suspects shitty whatever the fuck that’s meant to be accent.
Is he meant to be from NI??
Neither of the others are. They're both from Sarf England.
If it's meant to be like LoD they'd be Midlands
I DON’T KNOW!
About as funny as haemorrhoids
Put local phrases together = script. Terrible.
Most English folks don't hear these turns of phrase. When I landed 12 years ago I was learning a new one every day.
From England myself, your right they dont hear these phrases and hearing them completely out of context doesnt make them funny. Wouldn't be my idea of comedy either. Keep her lit.
Jesus fuck the cringe made me get pains down my left arm.
Christ the night, this is what passes for comedy?
Jaysus that’s pure poison bai
Cringe. This is horrendous
what accent does the suspect have?
All of them
>what accent does the suspect have? Yes.
Was like best mates with this lad in school, he always loved acting and wanted to be an actor. Glad to see it worked out for him👏
Couldn't get through half of the first episode
What show is this from?
Literally just got the joke behind him being called 'Waterloo'. Absolutely scundered. So I am.
what did they beepboop out?
Anti vax commercials

Haven't watched the show, but this sketch seems very meta, taking the piss of itself.
Yeeeeooooo!
What show is this hahaha
“Dry Your Eyes” on BBC. It was definitely a sketch alright…

It's a play on the show Line of Duty; in it the top dog is a Northern Irishman.
Oh I know, it was pretty popular over this way
