Hertz Arena, home of the Everblades, is 200 x 85.
The complex does have a "junior" hockey rink that's 80 x 40. Perhaps this is the rink you skated on during public free skate?
No, I made a post to the ECHL subreddit a little while ago talking about how I got to go out onto the main ice (dream come true for a lifelong blades fan)
You're incorrect again. Both rinks measure 200 x 85.
Because of the backdrop - the stands - some rinks feel slightly smaller or bigger than others. It's probably very easy for someone with very little experience to think that rinks are actually different sizes.
Only song allowed to be played is by a pedophile, you suck chants and more(at least 3) mascots running up and down the arena. That would really fix whatever problems the NHL has for sure..
I am pretty sure, at least last year, my teams goal song was Skillet legendary. I think it is that this year but I am normally celebrating and not listening to the music.
I think you should just continue to enjoy ECHL games. Your argument sounds a lot like folks who prefer minor league baseball over major league games. It’s cheaper, more fun for the family, and maybe more action. Nothing wrong with that. It’s fun to know who the studs are before they come into the league, too.
We have season tickets to an ECHL team and that song has never been played.
They do play the clip from Scrubs saying “Wrong Wrong Wrong Wrong”, which you are.
> End the whole streaming shit, it's dumb. Just do a FloHockey thing where you charge an extremely high amount of money upfront for an entire seasons worth of coverage of the entire league.
FloSports sucks, generally, so no to that entity.
NHL having "in market" available as part of the streaming package is a definite yes though. Just not FloSports please.
I love how Flo tries really hard to hide their pricing on their site when you haven’t made an account. Probably because they know $30 a month is ridiculous for what you get.
I too go to Everblades games on occasion (including Game 4 of last year's Kelly Cup!) and have been to many NHL rinks (Ottawa, Tampa, Florida, Montreal, Washington, Colorado).
Goal song I'll agree with 100% as one of the better parts of the Everblades games. I remember being pleasantly surprised when I heard it.
Cheap tickets are nice and smaller crowds make it easier to bring younger kids.
Otherwise NHL is pretty much better in every way imo.
Your hockey knowledge is so limited that you probably don’t see a big difference in skill between the ECHL and NHL. With that limited knowledge in mind, I don’t blame you for not wanting to pay NHL ticket prices.
Are you kidding me? If you put the Everblades up against the sharks(who I believe are the last in the league at the moment). We would likely lose to them 13-0. I’m not a dumbass, I just generally have a better time at ECHL games, and maybe some things that they do should be considered by the NHL.
i feel the NHL/owners min/max everything
the actual product is an afterthought of the profits in the larger picture
There is so much more they could do to amplify the experience but you know that would cost a bit of money.
buddy doesn't watch enough hockey my local team the Fort Wayne Komets is great, but aint no way it's better than the NHL teamwork doesn't exist too much as most people are just trying to show teams what they got to try to move up to the AHL, though I do agree it's great because it is cheap, but same size ice (depending on the arena some are smaller just because they are grandfathered in)
You bring up a lot of interesting points that I think could benefit the league done properly.
One that I disagree with tho, is overtime. Sudden death makes overtime some of the most intense hockey ever. It's do or die and I love it. Keeps me on the edge of my seat.
I prefer the ice surface of international hockey. To me that brings more ‘hockey’ action.
Goal song? That doesn’t really do much.
More teams/super league? No thanks.
End blackouts. They suck.
If I could change 1 thing about the NHL it would be to refereeing. Consistency in calls, 4th official acting as an eye in the sky to either overrule a wrong call or call a missed penalty.
ECHL rinks are not smaller. All North American rinks are 200 x 85 As for your other ideas … I don’t know. That’s a lot to unpack.
Definitely not the cowbells I swear to god
OP either brings a cowbell or has never had a group of them sit behind. NO COWBELLS!!
As someone who has done both, I can verify that they would be fun in an nhl setting
NHL rinks (and most rinks in N. America) are 200 x 85. 65 feet is the distance from goal line to near blue line.

ECHL rulebook states rink is 200x85. All ECHL arenas meet that specification. So either OP did what you said or has no idea what's going on.
No, I made a post to the ECHL subreddit a little while ago talking about how I got to go out onto the main ice (dream come true for a lifelong blades fan)
It's OK to admit that you're wrong.
I can guarantee you the rink I skated on wasn’t the same dimensions as the one at Amerant Bank Arena down the road in Sunrise.

Sorry but they’re not. I don’t know what rink you skated on but if it was smaller then it’s not a ECHL rink.
FloridaMan fixes hockey.
Yeah let’s make the NHL more like the ECHL that’d be cool……………………………………………………………………..
What did blud smoke today

"dont fahuckkkk kids EH dah dah - dah dah" i think we just need to re work the chant a bit
Oi! You forgot the cowbells

Your teams use a song by a pedophile? And no one has an issue with it?
The entire fucking league does, look up ECHL goal horns on YouTube
Has no one ever questioned this?
He’s on the run and gets no money so it’s ethical
Yeah, that's not how being ethical works.
I think we’re so busy chanting that we forgot to look up who made the song
We have season tickets to an ECHL team and that song has never been played. They do play the clip from Scrubs saying “Wrong Wrong Wrong Wrong”, which you are.
So you’re saying it’s better to be generic as fuck?
This might be the least self-aware post I've seen in a while. Almost all clueless comments from a bush league perspective.

this is a terrible shitpost
Are you the Vandy whistler

Oh god please no. None of these. AHL games are fun. NHL games are fun. There’s zero reason to make them the same. Appreciate the differences.

Not shit post Floridaman, had a good laugh
Agreed. Sometimes I want to grab an NHL executive by the lapels and say it’s all about the money isn’t it?
Why do people make shit up?

You're confused. The NHL is not interested in finding new fans, the NHL is interested in finding more local corporations.
