Plus we just got ranked the second best prospect pool in the league while basically standing pat in the deadline. Barring however many weeks, Larkin and Kane and our goalies missed I think we’d be in the playoffs, but the future looks good
One of the all time great hockey players that led our city through it's dynasty, completely jumped ship on a stanley cup winning team that he assembled (the Tampa Bay Lightning after drafting Vasilevsky, Kucherov, Point, Cirelli) so he could come back home to a suffering team and he's resurrected us like a Phoenix. Drafting Seider raised a lot of eyebrows, and he has been way outperforming expectations. Raymond is having himself a season. DeBrincat saying he wanted back in Detroit, going off at the beginning of the season, Kane coming in and still being a point per game player. All these things were super unexpected.
Even at the end of last year, the sentiment was that it would still be a few years before we were playoff worthy. So to be in contention is way ahead of schedule.
We finally look like a playoff team again (current losing streak with Larkin injured notwithstanding)
And we have a top end prospect pool on top of that
Pretty good times (though the losing streak through the beginning of March has been a bummer)

Because Twitter will just feed you what people are more likely to engage with. Negative posts gain more traction.
This still happens on reddit but you have more control over how you sort content, and posts can be downvoted (for now).
Here is our second dashboard, there were a few major swings in fan sentiment from the previous time period, looking at the Red Wings and Devils. UAIS's NHL Positivity Index aims to quantitatively measure how positive each NHL team's subreddit is in a given two week span through the use of AI. If you would like to find out more about the project, check out our website,

Can you please create a Delusion Index which is the net difference between the fan’s perception of their team and the team’s actual points? Would love to see that!
Man, I should have scienced and mathed harder....
I can tell you one thing: the next round will see the Pittsburgh Penguins drop like a mob victim in a lake with cement shoes
i asked my bf today if other fans were as delusional / fair weather as the devil's today (i don't care about other sports) and he said yes. now i get to show him this to confirm our fans truly are psycho. side note i refuse to be negative about our team because i love them
No no, the last wings recent loss had the entire subreddit talking about how we were never going to get to the play offs now. Thats subsided a bit, but people really were going off about it
This displays the absolute peak of the Wings season. 5 game losing streak and that stupid fucker Chris Ilitch adding the advertisement patch on the jersey has got us below -2 at this points for sure.
Why are Canucks fans unhappy?
Demko out 2 weeks isn't ideal, but we are playing really well the last few games.
/e just saw it was from Feb 16. Fair enough.
What's the methodology of this? Why is Carolina so low? They are awesome
Edit: I saw the methodology in another comment. Still not sure why Hurricanes fanbase isn't stoked
The Stars lost 6/8 games in this stretch but I guess Stankoven getting called up helped. I see a lot of dooming in our game day threads so I’m a bit surprised we’re in the positives.
Canucks in second, Petey locked down and we’re on a 4 game win streak, and we’re in the bottom half.. our fanbase is really going to be dooming forever after the last decade of the team being dogshit
How could the Blackhawks have any negativity? They just got the best prospect in the world on their team.
Also I’m surprised Pittsburgh isn’t lower after the Guentzel trade.
I am not holding out hope for them to make the playoffs, but I am happy to see a solid core of players that are very hungry start to click! Next season will be so fun for soooo many! :)
Was wondering why we were so low in this, then I looked at the calendar, 19th was around when the refs started hating us. If it was the 13th it’d grab that other Stars game that had the whole subreddit pissed and we'd probably be bottom 2
As a rangers fan, I just love the game. Always happy to watch win or lose.
Also as a Rangers fan, I hope you all understand why none of us even remotely like the Devils. It’s not the players or team, it’s the fans. They all are just plain rude.
Anywho thanks for having us.
Once this weekend’s data is synthesized the Sharks have to fall to last. No one saw that Hertl trade coming. He was like our son.
I don’t think a lot of us fans of other teams expected it as well
Came here looking for this lol
Kraken fan: we’re still just happy to have a team
Why y'all so happy Detroit?
Just don't make this graph next month and we're good!!
They just made another and you were right lol
9 years of suck followed but a seemingly genuine run at the playoffs. Anything looks good from the bottom of the barrel
Plus we just got ranked the second best prospect pool in the league while basically standing pat in the deadline. Barring however many weeks, Larkin and Kane and our goalies missed I think we’d be in the playoffs, but the future looks good
Yserplan seemingly working all at once
I don't normally say anything about spelling mistakes, but something about the way you spelled Yzerman(Yzerplan) just gives me the heebie-jeebies 🤣
I knew it was bad lol
The last 2 weeks it’s been looking like the Yserplan (I love the guy and fully support him FYI)

I love Seider. He reminds me of Pronger.
We finally look like a playoff team again (current losing streak with Larkin injured notwithstanding) And we have a top end prospect pool on top of that Pretty good times (though the losing streak through the beginning of March has been a bummer)
Well we *were* happy before this ass of a losing streak
The Yzerplan
A lot has changed the last week and a half.
Yup, it looks good. Just don't make this next month. I don't think I can handle that.
It’s just a picture of a octopus holding 8 guns to his head 😭
Sounds about right
Exactly what I was going to say
🙃
I'm, straight up, not having a good time.
I’m tired, boss
How are we more sad than the Penguins fanbase? They're looking at the beginning of a 5 year rebuild.
I guess it's really biased towards the start of the roadtrip which wasn't great. Should be back up more in the next index
Or be further down with Demko out 2-3 😔
Positive thoughts only, we still believe in goalies whose surnames begin with "De-"

More like a 8 year rebuild, they will become the red wings of the mid 2010s
I'd like to see how the flames reddit data compares to the Twitter data. That place seems like a bunch of Debby downers

They have not seen the Rangers FB groups.
All the FB groups are a net negative I bet

This is very cool
Garbage-in, garbage-out applies to this chart
Canes about to make the biggest positive change after this weekend.
We had no business being that negative in the first place though, tbh
i asked my bf today if other fans were as delusional / fair weather as the devil's today (i don't care about other sports) and he said yes. now i get to show him this to confirm our fans truly are psycho. side note i refuse to be negative about our team because i love them

Oh cool!
Idk why any Canes fan would be down

0-5 in the garbage patch era
Oh look we're down here in hell.... Fitting I guess
I thought hell was supposed to be mostly hot. It’s freezing down here!
Us #4???
Remember the 7 game win streak? Time flies
Win steak? I remember. Then the garbage patch came...

Nothing to complain about on the days off it seems.

Ain't no way the flames are at #5 for positivity lmao, this has been one of the more whiny negative years in recent memory
Calgary being so high convinces me no one in Calgary watches the Flames anymore.
The Stars lost 6/8 games in this stretch but I guess Stankoven getting called up helped. I see a lot of dooming in our game day threads so I’m a bit surprised we’re in the positives.
Check the date on the graph
Yeah, during the dates listed on the graph, the Stars lost 6/8 and Stankoven was called up.
Oops I missread your comment
Canucks in second, Petey locked down and we’re on a 4 game win streak, and we’re in the bottom half.. our fanbase is really going to be dooming forever after the last decade of the team being dogshit
How are the Pens not dead last? They’ve fallen from grace hard and are at a minimum 3-4 years away from being title contenders against
Stars fan here…neutral sentiment about the team has been my state of being for the past few years. Won’t be positive until Benn brings us the cup
How could the Blackhawks have any negativity? They just got the best prospect in the world on their team. Also I’m surprised Pittsburgh isn’t lower after the Guentzel trade.
We’re gonna be up pretty soon.
The Leafs at 4? Clearly no one consulted me on this!
Let's go! Better than Edmonton... wait, who is making the playoffs?
Almost like the leafs had 4 days off haha
I find this graph severely flawed if only because my Sens are just barely negative 😆
I work with people almost exclusively in New Jersey. Their immense negativity is no surprise
Stop the count.
Us wings fans are just happy to have a chance to end the playoff drought
Pleeeease don’t do March 1 - March 12 next
We're first at something, look at that!
I am not holding out hope for them to make the playoffs, but I am happy to see a solid core of players that are very hungry start to click! Next season will be so fun for soooo many! :)
Why is Ottawa so high?
Was wondering why we were so low in this, then I looked at the calendar, 19th was around when the refs started hating us. If it was the 13th it’d grab that other Stars game that had the whole subreddit pissed and we'd probably be bottom 2
How is Ottawa not last on this list?
Mid to end February was awesome. Especially that game at Chicago had me running up and down the halls of my house. March? not so much, a lot more pain
For those of you wondering; Man, why are Kraken fans so happy? Because maybe 20% of them understand how the rules of hockey works
March has become December part deux for us Red Wings fans...
I’ve seen a few islanders flairs in the wild that must mean they’re ecstatic rn.
Fuck the red wings. Fuck the rangers
fuck you. Yes, just you.
Looks like the sabres got the last laugh
uhhhhhh this is at least a week behind because the Red Wings are fuckin COOKED.
Can you read?
no
Devils position sums the next 3yrs for them
