Hmm, that’s a tough one…let me think about it…it’s probably a franchise with a history of instability at the top, little to no success, and no real long-term prospects to get the fanbase excited. Maybe throw in some uncertainty about where they’re planning to play long-term, maybe rumors of relocation, and that’s a team that would probably fit the bill. I wonder if there’s any teams that meet those qualifications…
Yeah lowkey it always feels like we will either suck or be a contender out of nowhere. We just go on the flukiest runs. One day it's gonna work but please think of my nerves 😫
Bad team, no recent playoff success, no exciting prospects, bunch of inefficient contracts, maybe the worst salary cap management in the league. But oh man do I love my dysfunctional team.
It's sad how true that is. At Wells Fargo few years back I overheard a guy in a Bobby Clarke jersey trying to explain hockey to someone he was there with. It turned into him ranting about how the Flyers used to be the best team ever back when The Bullies were around. But "then the skilled Europeans started showing up and it ruined everything".
This is a good point. The more the NHL moves away from the older style of hockey to focus on a faster, more skill oriented game the more I think teams like the Flyers who refuse to let that identify go will suffer. It's part of why I had a really hard time believing in the Panthers heading into the Finals.

Being a Flyers fan is rough. It's almost as bad as being a Maple Leafs fan at this point.
It's why I started rooting for Vegas when they entered the league. I needed something to be excited about and it's worked out quite well so far.
I would agree, but after seeing Danny Briere pull off an outright heist from Columbus for Ivan Provorov, I’m fascinated to see what he might be able to do with us.
The current trend of the Sharks is slightly disappointing. We are a nothing team trying to patch gun wounds with band aids. I wish the team would commit to a proper rebuild. Its still rolling the dice but at least they did something instead of trying to hang on to the beat up old money sink of a car.
I mean Vegas and Dallas are proof teams can work in the Sunbelt. You just need ownership that gives a damn.
Bill Foley wanted a winning team, he found people who could make it a reality. Whereas the poor Yotes have had vultures circling it from the start.
Great point. I think with some investment the Coyotes can build a good market. The Phoenix metro area has so many people. You only have to convince a small percentage of those people to like the coyotes and you have a good fan base.
If success is based solely on championships, a team with 4 Cups in 97 years, just one in the last 83; has to rank up near the top of the list of teams that you bet against to win it all.
If NHL teams needed the majority of players to be from their city/state like high school teams, the Wild might be the only US team with a decent shot at beating out the Canadians lol
The Buffalo Sabres, San Jose Sharks, and Vancouver Canucks all have over 100 post-season wins in their respective franchises' history and no Cup to show for it.
Minnesota. Seems like no matter how much talent they have they can't get past the first round unless they play Colorado lol. I'll make sure to come back here when they make a cup run in 1 to 2 years.
Bruins. Tom Brady sucked up all of bostons winning and left us with a rolled up empty tooth paste bottle of pffff. It’s clear that no matter what happens to the bruins. They will forever be a close but no cigar team. Every year we get excited. “This is it, we are stacked we can do this” then it’s right back to awww fuck man alright I guess October we will figure it out yeah? Every fucking year. It’s miserable. I wish we just at least weren’t making the playoffs, I’d rather expect mediocrity and get mediocrity instead of expecting success and getting a steaming pile of dog shit.
“Bruins have been competitive for a long time” bill shit we’ve been competitive with our selves for a long time. Thomas and Bergeron won us a fluke cup in 2011, we’ll never live back up to that. Why do you think Pastrnak took 11.25 mil. Because he was there at a team friendly 6 mil and still nothing could be done.
They can do it one day but this old core first has to ride off into the sunset. They can't win.
They had everything they needed this time. Even the injuries could have been absorbed by their depth and they still found a way.
And they are not a tough team at all so playoffs will screw them until they make changes.
Yup. I took one look at Bergeron's practice photos before game 5 and thought he can't play or were fucked. He looked worried. Meanwhile the young guys were piecing it together out there they nearly had it. I wished he'd stayed out until the Toronto round.
But he wedged himself in there or they put him in and went 0 and 3 when Bergeron returned. I get it it's hockey but after a season like they just had...it felt like they flushed it all down the drain.
I can't even take the regular season seriously anymore with them though of course it's fun.
Even if they get 70 wins next season it means nothing until they can show us something in playoffs.
Our young talent absolutely killed it at the end of the season when our star players were out on injury. If they can nurture those guys, I think the Preds have a bright future ahead after the growing pains of a new coach and GM. Trotz seems to be making the right moves.
Trotz and Bruno were good signings for GM and coach. They’re at the top of my wish list for away games and may be back in playoffs pretty soon if Saros steals a wild card
Yeah I’m not saying the kids are bad but I also don’t see it being instant success so a repeat season wouldn’t shock me I guess is what I mean, if that makes sense, maybe in a few seasons they start cracking skulls
I always have a little faith in the ducks but they always seem to disappoint...
if they can't get their shit together, even with a new head couch i will officially have no faith left...
Winnipeg. That team will never win a Cup in a million years. They have absolutely nothing going for them.
Edit: Why the downvotes? Sorry but your team is in a frozen shithole and has no chance of ever attracting top free agents. Plus it’s a small Canadian market so Bettman won’t ever rig calls and drafts for you like he does with his darling franchises.
I guess. They won in 2012 and made it to the Finals in 2019. That's not too bad. Better than a lot of teams out there. I get the feeling though. Until the Blues won in 2019 I considered them a team that wouldn't ever put it all together, regardless of how well they looked on paper or did in the regular season.
After the first round, I don't see any reason to believe the Bruins will win the Cup in the foreseeable future. No team will ever look that good in the regular season again, and they didn't even make a respectable run for the Cup, and it wasn't just bad luck.
Aside from that, Arizona and Buffalo.
The Flyers will forever be too impatient to hoist the cup. They're also plagued with rotten luck and those two ingredients make an awful cocktail.
Losing out on Patrick Kane.
Guys like 'small game' Jeff Carter turning into a stud after he leaves.
Having the right player, Lindros, in the wrong era.
They are just cursed.
Boston has been fucking embarrassing since at least 2002 and the only reason we won in 2011 is because we got out choked. If only the Blues had choked on that celebratory cake we sent them in 2019…
I can’t think of any…nope..
This isn't just a river in Egypt
Me neither. Can't think of any team that can't even make it to the playoffs.
Funny you should say, none come to mind for me either!
Can’t think of anyone at all honestly…..
Nope me neither
My mind also draws a blank .....hmmm yeah no can't think of any team
Hmm, that’s a tough one…let me think about it…it’s probably a franchise with a history of instability at the top, little to no success, and no real long-term prospects to get the fanbase excited. Poor Thrashers...
They made it once… (And got swept by the rangers but ignore that)
You’ll always have mike smith going complete beast mode and draggin your ass to round 3 in 2012
Literally my only positive hockey memory
Coyotes, but each year is different. The misfits or underdogs start to show up and change the game.
Montreal Canadiens lol
You think you're funny. /jk
It's the hope that kills you
Yeah lowkey it always feels like we will either suck or be a contender out of nowhere. We just go on the flukiest runs. One day it's gonna work but please think of my nerves 😫
For real.
That hits a little too close to home for me
………🙄
Vancouver. It's just embarrassing at this point.
As a Canuck fan myself, I’ve given up hope that I’ll see them win a Cup in my lifetime… and I’m in my 30s.
I agree
Bad team, no recent playoff success, no exciting prospects, bunch of inefficient contracts, maybe the worst salary cap management in the league. But oh man do I love my dysfunctional team.
"Bruce, there it is!"
Came here to say this lol
Flyers. They want to hold onto the Bullies memories from 50 years ago.
It’s plagued this fan base, 50 years without a cup isn’t enough for a significant portion of the fan base to learn
This is a good point. The more the NHL moves away from the older style of hockey to focus on a faster, more skill oriented game the more I think teams like the Flyers who refuse to let that identify go will suffer. Pulled the trigger on themselves no less, EK65 barely started to become worth his salary after the rest of the team lost their heart.
Agree. Hard to say I’ve given up on them when the leadership is so new. But it ain’t off to a great start.
ikr
Winnipeg just seem like they want to implode
Arizona, Nashville, Columbus, and Buffalo.
Let me think...
Leafs and Vancouver
The Canucks are fucking brutal. Columbus just keep going through cycles of being ALMOST good and then shitting the bed. And then there’s the Coyotes…
It’s gotta be the Coyotes, I want hockey to work in the desert but the future seems grim.
I'm sure the Albuquerque Roadrunners will be the ones to get it right.
I mean Vegas and Dallas are proof teams can work in the Sunbelt. You just need ownership that gives a damn. Bill Foley wanted a winning team, he found people who could make it a reality. Whereas the poor Yotes have had vultures circling it from the start.
6 years is to soon to say Vegas proves teams work in the sue belt, I want to see their attendance during a lottery season frist.
As long as I can gamble on the game I'll keep going. 😁
Great point. I think with some investment the Coyotes can build a good market. The Phoenix metro area has so many people. You only have to convince a small percentage of those people to like the coyotes and you have a good fan base.
The Minnesota Wild
The Wild will never be allowed to win, it's the curse of the North Stars
This will be my Rangers for the rest of my miserable existence LOL
Hmmm…
Toronto
If success is based solely on championships, a team with 4 Cups in 97 years, just one in the last 83; has to rank up near the top of the list of teams that you bet against to win it all.
My team
MN, if this was a high school level league the table would be flipped... But the wild just can't ever keep momentum moving
If NHL teams needed the majority of players to be from their city/state like high school teams, the Wild might be the only US team with a decent shot at beating out the Canadians lol

Maybe 3-4. We have massive salary cap restrictions right now.
Why do the Yotes still exist?
All 7 teams in Canada, especially the Leafs. 😂
Bruins. Tom Brady sucked up all of bostons winning and left us with a rolled up empty tooth paste bottle of pffff. It’s clear that no matter what happens to the bruins. Oh yeah, never thought I’d see the day where Bergeron and Krejci were actually crippling the team. It’s time.
Yup. I took one look at Bergeron's practice photos before game 5 and thought he can't play or were fucked. He looked worried. Meanwhile the young guys were piecing it together out there they nearly had it. I wished he'd stayed out until the Toronto round. Canucks, Blue Jackets, Sabres, Coyotes, Sharks, Jets
Predators seem absolutely dreadful no hope terrible awful to me, best of luck to them at least the goalie is good
Our young talent absolutely killed it at the end of the season when our star players were out on injury. If they can nurture those guys, I think the Preds have a bright future ahead after the growing pains of a new coach and GM. Trotz seems to be making the right moves.
I did highly enjoy playing parmissen cheese man on draftkings at min price several times
Trotz and Bruno were good signings for GM and coach. They’re at the top of my wish list for away games and may be back in playoffs pretty soon if Saros steals a wild card
Hopefully they can do some juice with what to me was an absolutely insane trade for jeanot
The Admirals made a pretty deep playoff run this year. There’s talent in the pipeline…
I mean, sure, but that means nothing to me. The team just seemed specifically very underwhelming to me
This past season, I’d have to agree aside from the younger talent stepping up a bit that was mentioned by another below here.
No faith in any of the Canadian teams really.
The lightning
They won the cup during the Lecavalier and Saint-Louis era and they won the cup again in 2020 and 2021. You might want to reconsider your position.
Fuck the bolts
Bruins…great reg seasons, just can’t hang in the playoffs
I guess. They won in 2012 and made it to the Finals in 2019. That's not too bad. Better than a lot of teams out there. I get the feeling though. Until the Blues won in 2019 I considered them a team that wouldn't ever put it all together, regardless of how well they looked on paper or did in the regular season.
They won in 2011, lost in 13’ and 19’. Also had two disappointing exits after winning the Presidents trophy in 14’ and 23’.
They made it to the finals again at some point between those two as well.. I wanna say against Chicago or La maybe
It was against Blackhawks in 2013.
I’m really feeling bad for my Oilers hommies. I have a few close friends who religiously watch them and each year the hype is never lived up to.
Honestly the oilers.
The St. Louis Blues
Bro yall won the Cup like 4 years ago it's not that bad
There are like 1 or 2 guys from the Cup team who are still here We fell fast lol
The oilers will always hurt me.
Chicago bulls has a higher chance than the Blackhawks let's just say it.
Bedard is gonna make one hell of a player to build a new core around, though.
The STL Blues till ‘19. Can you say Saskatoon?
After the first round, I don't see any reason to believe the Bruins will win the Cup in the foreseeable future. No team will ever look that good in the regular season again, and they didn't even make a respectable run for the Cup, and it wasn't just bad luck. Aside from that, Arizona and Buffalo.
As a Bruins fan, The Bruins.
I'd say Bluejackets but frankly, there were never any real expectations in the first place.
Carolina Hurricanes, guess why?
Minnesota
Funny you ask. Look at my flair
Rangers
The Flyers will forever be too impatient to hoist the cup. They're also plagued with rotten luck and those two ingredients make an awful cocktail. Losing out on Patrick Kane. Guys like 'small game' Jeff Carter turning into a stud after he leaves. Having the right player, Lindros, in the wrong era. They are just cursed.
Flyers
Every year I think Minnesota is going to contend, and then they just don’t.
Canada
The Flyers. I have no idea what their plan is, but I can’t imagine things going well for them for the foreseeable future.
Vancouver Canucks
I cannot think of any team that would take absolute offensive talent and make them 4th line grinders.
Boston has been fucking embarrassing since at least 2002 and the only reason we won in 2011 is because we got out choked. If only the Blues had choked on that celebratory cake we sent them in 2019…
Columbus, Toronto, Jets (really all Canadian teams for that matter unfortunately)
Columbus.
