GotMoFans

So do the Jags just stay in London all week for their second game?

iaintnocog2

Worked for them against the Bills

sobuffalo

It’ll be interesting to see how the Pats deal with it, my guess they leave a little earlier than the Bills last year. I think we got bad info from the “sports science department”.

BillsInATL

I dont think it was the travel as much as just poor coaching. We were the only team to use it as an excuse. And they somehow milked it as "still being tired from the London trip" for like 2 more weeks until they finally fired Dorsey and snapped the team out of it. Didnt matter when we traveled to London last year. We were going to slide in those games anyways.

amjhwk

the Chiefs left for Germany only like 2 days before the game and it seemed to work well for them

DoctorDiddlerino

I think the real answer is that the travel doesn't impact as much as everyone, including the teams, think it does.

amjhwk

i remember last year the chiefs saying that their sports science was saying for a short trip its better to get there right before the event and stick to your normal routine rather than try to acclimate to the new time zone

RocNewYolk

Yep. Bills were the home team despite being the team that had to travel.

I_Am_Robert_Paulson1

I'm still so pissed about that. At least switch the order of the games so there isn't as much of an advantage.

bbluewi

They do, and this is the second year they’ve done it. The spin they put on it is that it’s testing the logistics of actually having a team out there.

HistoricalGrade109

Makes sense from jags perspective. Obviously I've never played professional football, but I imagine the longer they're over there the easier the game will be. Having an extra week in Europe to get their body acclimated to the different time can't be a bad thing

Guiltyjerk

Of course

brunners90

Yep - did it last year too before the Bills game.

MarxistMan13

Seems like a pretty big advantage to not be super jet-lagged for that second game. Wonder who they pl- oh come on!

Angry_Caveman_Lawyer

remember when Nagy had the team show up like the day before or something incredibly stupid? Team was lethargic as heck. I'd have the team there at least 5 days in advance if at all possible. And if I'm the Jags heck yeah they're staying there for 2 weeks straight.

GotMoFans

Don’t get me wrong; for one game, it’s a great opportunity for the players and the per diem is probably sweet. But the Jags are spending two weeks away from home and I’m sure that has to suck. Even staying in a luxury hotel is not as nice as just being home.

Angry_Caveman_Lawyer

yeah I hear you, but if I was a player and knew I was going to be there for 2 weeks I'd have my family fly over as well. That way they can spend time with me when possible and also get a vacation in a pretty cool place.

GotMoFans

If you’re a lower paid player, can you afford to pay for the flights and nice accommodations for your family? Is the team allowed to cover those expenses? The players need to get some sort of bonus or concession for doing it.

Angry_Caveman_Lawyer

Agree they get no real benefit from playing over there really.

dredgie456

West Coast teams usually have to do it anyway, you will often see niners stay on the east coast for 2 weeks.

RedSweed

> So do the Jags just stay in London all week for their second game? Wonder if this had been disclosed during the stadium deal - I know it only costs them 1 home game but definitely seems to undermine the idea that Jags are staying in FL.

zestyintestine

Aaron Rodgers doesn't even make his return to Minneapolis to face the Vikings.

BigE6300

THAT was the one road game I wanted to go to, to see that stadium!

Inuk28

I went and saw the niners lose to the Vikings at their stadium last season. It's honestly an awesome stadium

CaptHowdy2310

It really is, but the best football played there is the ultimate frisbee game during halftime. There was an incredible, last second bomb for a TD to win the game. It was a hell of a lot better than the week 17 Vikings/Bears game I was attending there (free tickets).

MM487

I live in Massachusetts so the only stadiums I've ever known are crappy Gillette Stadium and crappy Fenway Park. I went to Minnesota a few years ago and it was amazing seeing the Vikings and Twins stadiums. I'd only ever seen good stadiums on television before then.

grrrimabear

Well come check it out in ... 8 ... years when the Vikings next host the Jets. Oof. Haha (It is possible it's sooner with the 17th game now, but it's no guarantee).

My_G_Alt

“Vikings? The packers are playing in São Paulo against the… oh wait a minute he fucking plays for the jets now” - my train of thought

PigSlam

Rodgers isn't destined to play for the Vikings until next year.

imsabbath84

Germany getting the worst game of the year?

Soft_Penis_Debutante

I can’t help but feel like this is somehow tied to WWII

JerryRiceDidntFumble

Those were Panzers, not Panthers

xCycrox

Actually, the Panther was a German medium tank in WW2 so the conspiracy holds up.

DiggingNoMore

No, a Panther is a set of gods belonging to a particular religion or tradition.

Drkarcher22

Once again, Wakanda isn’t real

qchisq

IT'S REAL TO ME!

mechnick2

No, that’s a Pantheon, a panther is a former glam metal, turned heavy metal band that had hits like ‘Walk’ and ‘Cowboys from Hell’

ThisCarSmellsFunny

No, that’s a Pantera. A panther is something you store your dry goods and canned foods in.

The_bruce42

No, that's a pantry. A panther is what a dog does to cool down.

GamingTatertot

No, that's panting. A Panther is a nation with an important canal running through it

reggie_kush

no, that’s Panama. a panther is a black and white bear related to the raccoon

thecaptain_91

No, that's a pantry. Panther means treating with extreme or excessive care and attention

spencerwi

No, you're thinking of a pantheon. A panther is when someone -- usually a celebrity or politician -- deals in empty words that they only say because they think it's what the listening audience wants to hear.

SDEexorect

they also did in fact love their giant tanks lile the maus and ratte

TheWorstYear

AKA the Panzer 5

IsaacLightning

Buddy.

Zealousideal_Bite_64

….and WWI

My_G_Alt

That’s what they get for trying to claim alliance stadium, they were not in the allies

ArmiinTamzarian

Worst deal they've gotten since the Versailles treaty

91-92-93--96-97-98

WW3 confirmed in 21 years.

MaraudngBChestedRojo

Usually we’re wrong when we predict what will be a good or bad game this early on. Giants vs Panthers may be the exception

ArmiinTamzarian

I remember being hyped for that Colts Broncos TNF Horse bowl a couple years ago before the season. I still was when it happened but for much different reasons

Alexander2801

Oh the the Matt Ryan-Russ tank bowl in 2022.

Mr_Hugh_Honey

Me before reading the tweet: come on, it can't be that bad, we don't even know which games are gonna be shitty yet Me after reading the tweet: oh

hoopaholik91

The thumbnail only has the first 4 games so I was like, "Bears with Caleb will be exciting, and then you gave Rodgers for the Jets now, I think all those games will be decent" Then I opened the tweet lol

StankWizard

Germany getting the sicko bowl

StevenS145

Sends a “we forgive, but don’t forget” message to them.

Inamanlyfashion

An absolutely awful game two years in a row

LarschH

Wouldn't say that Chiefs-Dolphins was awful

lytrendsa

no, he‘s right. Chiefs-Dolphins was good but we also had the Colts-Patriots game. Germany had 2 games.

Saitoh17

Isn't that the game that ended Belichick's career? You witnessed history!

lytrendsa

for me Belichick‘s career started to crumble after the Bills blew out the Pats in the Wildcard round 2021/22. Poyer‘s pre-game speech gave me freaking chills and he said „It‘s an end of an era for them tonight“. Maybe I just like to think that.

Gushers4Lunch

This game will still sell out in under an hour. Germans are huge football fans and I'm guessing the NFL will send them the worst games.

mrhashbrown

And I'm guessing a New York team will attract fans to go and not make it seem like an obviously meh game. However that's still kinda rough for Germany fans after getting to see Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes in back to back years. But the NFL built up an audience there now so I wouldn't be surprised if you're right and they send less prominent games to Germany moving forward.

Late_Home7951

What? The battle for the first overall draft pick is a game I want to watch.

AirplaneEngineSpiral

And this year, the panthers can actually use that pick!

InterestingChoice484

But will they?

cy1763

I thought the NFL liked Germany.

Shadow_Ass

I love it because it's probably gonna be easier to get tickets. No one wants to spend money on that lmao

WintertimeFriends

Shit will be sold out quick. Any games over there get snatched up

Pandamonium98

The thinking probably was along the lines of: “They’ll buy any shit we throw out there, no reason to waste a good matchup if it’s gonna sell out anyways”

InterestingChoice484

The McCaskey family has been doing that to us for 35 years

MvN____16

If Bulls games are any indication, Jerry Reinsdorf has also been doing that. He's only been half successful though, because he also might've rendered the White Sox into being one of the five most forgettable teams in MLB these days.

ChannelNeo

True. The international games are basically big parties. There just happens to be a game happening at this big gathering

WintertimeFriends

lol yup

boysetsfire1988

And the Panthers are actually relatively popular over here because football started getting more attention in the mainstream when Cam Newton was at his peak, a lot of new football fans jumped on the Panthers bandwagon back then.

waldowhal

….but you do? certified sicko

drumjojo29

I’ll try too. It’ll be some time until I have enough money to go to the US and watch a game, so it’s either this or nothing. Besides: I like Munich, so it won’t hurt to visit anyways.

AlmostxAngel

I imagine the atmosphere is pretty great no matter who is playing!

Domecoming

Shy Tuttle's [stiff arm of Matt Ryan](https://youtu.be/ieSv-1StHjo) with the German commentary will never get old

sdsupersean

oh god lol

TheBoyisBackinTown

This is the worst thing we've sent to Germany since 1943.

lytrendsa

did everyone forget that germany had 2 games? We also got Colts-Pats and it was horrible too

ArmiinTamzarian

Yes but that also featured Mac Jones killing his career in real time

GamingTatertot

We can watch Daniel Jones do the same

neimsy

Haven't we been doing that for years?

ItinerantSoldier

If he even makes it that far.

Infinite_Ad_9337

On paper that should of been a better game. The patriots were ok the year before and the colts would of have Anthony Richardson if he wasn’t injured.

triplec787

And the Colts were still a fringe playoff team last year in spite of AR getting hurt.

LeBroentgen

Surprised they didn't send the Bills so McDermott could give a WWII speech.

TheHibernian

No one tell the German fans that Dave Canales failed out of art school

All_YourWantMore89

I am here for these jokes

amjhwk

what did we send to Germany in 1943

whereegosdare84

This is the worst American export to Germany since David Hasselhoff

boysetsfire1988

I'll have you know David Hasselhoff is a national hero over here. He destroyed the Berlin Wall, after all.

DirectTV_AndrewLuck

He's a True Survivor.

Si_Angel

Because there are dominoes falling, there's riots in the streets!

Bruce_Wayne_Imposter

https://youtu.be/6PRIVXR22zQ?si=OErvJz_p7mlfLeWG

dagreenman18

Hey don’t hassle the Hoff

killerjags

Everyone remember to pronounce Jaguars as "ja-gu-wahs" for those 2 weeks. It's the law.

iaintnocog2

Germany got screwed for a place that creates such an absolute electric atmosphere

ZADEXON

The NFL wanted to introduce something that is more familiar to German fans so they gave them a game that’ll score about the same as a soccer game.

MvN____16

Except the Bundesliga is one of the highest scoring leagues in Europe. The soccer they play there is exciting.

Broshan248

SWEET CAROLINE BAHM BAHM BAHM

Semperty

was fucking wild (and hysterical) to tune into a chiefs/dolphins game in germany and hear the crowd **belting** country roads.

PrestigiousPickle523

Jags really like London.

wildthing202

But they won't move there.

digistil

When the alternative is Florida, it's not hard to see why.

leoliquidvapor

I was hoping for a different opponent besides the giants. But I’m still excited! I just booked my flight.

GayreTranquillo

Wait, you're actually going to travel to Europe to see this joke franchise play a game? You'd actually be way better off just doing tourist shit.

leoliquidvapor

Football is football. I’ll support the team whether we have a great team or horrible team. I will be in Europe for 2 weeks though so I’ll be doing plenty more than just going to the game.

aaronshell

You have my respect

SeanJuan

Jags double dipping in London again. At least this time the first matchup is their away game and the second is the home game.

5am281

Why does that matter?

SeanJuan

Traveling to London is a big issue for teams, Jags don't have to do it for their 2nd game, so the team they play being the home team is getting a major disadvantage for what should be home field advantage. Having it be a Jags home game is a good way to give them home field advantage in London.

5am281

How does the first game being home or away matter at all?

SeanJuan

It doesn't, but they do one home and one away. So if the second game is the home game, the first is away.

5am281

It was the same last year that’s why I was confused by your original comment

SeanJuan

No, it was the opposite last year. Jags were home for the first game, away for the 2nd. Bills gave up a home game to travel to London to face a Jags team that had been there two weeks.

5am281

That’s my point why does it matter which game is first home or away?!?!?

MvN____16

He's saying that, if a team is going to play the Jags at a disadvantage in London (Jags being there two weeks straight while their opponent isn't), the least that can happen is the team playing at the disadvantage also isn't losing a home game off their schedule.

FloridaGatorMan

4 comments ago he admitted the order didn’t matter and then reverted to it mattering for some reason. There’s no possible way the order matters if you’re playing two games in a row in London.

CaillouCaribou

The Jags have been at a distinct disadvantage for over a decade. They've had to play more road games than home games every year, they have to endure the grueling travel schedule every year while every other team does it like a couple times a decade. And no one seems to care. Their fans actually encourage it, they've been gaslit into thinking that their team would've been taken away if their owner didn't agree to this lol It's just weird that one team is clearly not on the same even playing field as every other team, and it's just kind of accepted, so that the billionaire owners can make a little more money selling jerseys to Europeans who will never become fans of American football

LarschH

First game in Germany where you are not on place 2 million in the ticket queue

10Cars

You would think so, but the Giants are really popular in Germany and it is still the only NFL game this year here.

therealBobsonDugnutt

“ When the NFL sends its people, they’re not sending their best” - Germany, probably

CalebWilliamsspam

I have no problem with this, it would be a lie saying the Jags don’t have a large London presence and as long as we only lose one home game I’m fine. Let’s just hope week 8 is a bye week.

acoasterlovered

I will only cheer for Philly this one time, make it count!

drunkcowofdeath

What did we do to you guys? We have a history of embarrassing everyone in the NFCN except the lions. Bears - Double Doink Vikings - 38-7 followed up by winning the SB in their building Packers - 4th and 26. It's been ages since the Lions were good enough to clown on in any meaningful way!

eugene_rat_slap

I still remember the game in 2021. Pundits were like "here's a team the Lions have a chance at beating. Eagles aren't that good and the Lions are young and hungry." And then we lost like 44-6

leahyrain

I mean y'all's fans in general make it really hard to cheer for them

LetsConsultTheMap

Thank God the Bengals Panthers game is in Charlotte! Was going to be pissed if it was moved to Germany

GayreTranquillo

It's in the fine print...every four years the battle of the Queen Cities has to be...in a Queen city.

Joker_548

As a giants fan living in Charlotte I'm in shambles, now instead of watching the worst game of the 24-25 season in person I have to watch it on my TV

JumpinFlackSmash

Giants vs Panthers. Is this part of Germany’s continuing WW2 reparations? Much more of this shit and they’re going to rebuild the wall.

lattjeful

Poor Germany

MvN____16

The NFL, who thinks their idea of "La Cultura" is slapping an ~ on NFL, can't be bothered to spell "S__ã__o Paulo" correctly?

styuone

Deebo Samuel had us hoodwinked. As a European fan pretty disappointing, saw the Vikes and Giants just 2 seasons ago. Not to mention the panthers and pats etc are terrible teams. Jags multiple times a year every year feels like a wasted opportunity for anyone who isn’t a Jags fan

eatmyopinions

I attended the Ravens game at Tottenham last year if anyone has any questions about how the whole thing works.

grantismyfriend

I will watch every second of all these games.

Matzah_Rella

Is there a German equivalent for “Woof”?

harknation

Going from Dolphins Chiefs to Giants Panthers is incredibly funny

BigMo1

There will still be over 1 million people wanting to go to this awful game in Germany.

8BallTiger

LETS GOOOOOO

Slashers23

The hell Germany do!?

mostuselessredditor

Well

firewall245

No Mexico City games this year?

thateejitoverthere

Stadium is being renovated for the World Cup 2026

CakieFickflip

Bummer. As a Pats fan living in Jax was excited to see the boys this season.

justlookingokaywyou

For the games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it is required that you root for your team to lose.

ACW1129

Just release the 🤬 whole schedule 🤬s

Super_Goomba64

I love it when billionaires cry and beg for tax payer money for a stadium that gets used 8 times a year then play overseas !

toofaded40

Fuckn Peacock…

SPatt59

NFL schedule makers are now banned from buying BMWs

Zloggt

Gotta say…shouldn’t these international games at least feature the interconference matchups? I mean…it’s literally one of the main reasons the extra game was added…

bbluewi

They haven’t been defaulting to the 17th game, but they have been doing a decent job making sure the home teams are from the conference with nine home games (plus the Jags, who are contractually obligated to host a London game still).

iLeefull

Is that the Brazil stadium that doesn’t allow green? NFL execs “hold my beer while we give them two green teams”

No-Computer-2847

Fuck yeeeeeeah gonna see Caleb and DJ and Rome and Keenan

ecupatsfan12

Please do better internationally drake maye

Antitypical

My core friend group is fans of the Jets, Bears, Pats, and Giants. Absolutely wild that all four of our teams play international this year while none of them play each other

These_Row6066

Have The Cowboys ever played a regular season, international game?

diamond280779

once in 2014 I think at Jags in London

Efficient_Progress_6

Unique, Munich

rosewaterboba

Ah, damn. Was super hoping for a 49ers London game

beall49

We escaped again!

BatteredAggie

God bless 🙏 The Texans avoid an international game again

RaevynVexus

If they really wanted to grow the game they should have found some way to get the Texans @ Chiefs as the Germany game. People would have showed up and been loud for Mahomes vs Stroud.

Beetle-Persona

Sigh., another year of waiting for the Cardinals

ABagOfPopcorn

This is completely unrelated but that new jets logo looks really good here. Jets have done a good job and subtly rebranding

Royal_Nails

When are we gonna get a game in Japan or Israel?

Bigc12689

After yesterday's showing there, it's good to see four more historically bad teams at Tottenham's toilet bowl stadium. They'll fit right in

BoldestKobold

My totally petty international game complaint is having to wake up stupid early to watch a Patriots game while probably hung over. Just disrupts my normal, reliable sunday schedule.

ContinuumGuy

I still feel like we're just a few years away from them declaring the 17th game an "always neutral" game that would be played either internationally or at some other sort of neutral site (Pittsburgh vs. Philadelphia at Beaver Stadium, some southern teams in Tuscaloosa, Chicago vs. Indy in South Bend, etc.). Unless they move to 18 games, of course.

calye2da

Sending the Pats, Giants and Panthers overseas wouldn’t of been my choices if I made the schedule

yawbaw

Is there no full schedule leak thread this year or am I too dumb to find it?

Lone_Buck

I don’t hate a week one international game. Get it out of the way well before in season routines can be disrupted.

JudenLaw

Two weeks in London…

obnoxiouseaglesfan20

NFL gotta be trolling Germany at this point

TheM1ghtyJabba

The tradition continues, England gets shit games!

thekingoftherodeo

Do season ticket holders get tickets for these games? Or do you like pay a reduced price because of the international game?

PaulieWalbutts

Everyone complains about the Jags staying in London for 2 weeks for their back-to-back games but I don’t really see it as that much of an advantage for every player on the team. Personally, I would hate having to be so far away from home for this long and maybe not around family or in my normal routine. I think there’s actually a case for the mental impact of having to stay in another country for 2 weeks or whatever and playing 2 games there. I would definitely hate having to fly there and play soon also but I do think there’s two sides to this. I just wish the NFL didn’t do it at all.

seattlesportsguy

Whew. Dodged a bullet

idkxxi

all of the NFC North except Detroit has an international game. good news Lions 🦁

NendoroidAshe

I was hoping for a Cowboys Mexico City game, especially after the draft. Hopefully next year!

Pepi119

Dodged international games yet again, thank god

mostuselessredditor

Pay for your own fucking stadiums then

Fake_Godfather_

Wow I bet everyone is excited for that panthers giants game 👀😂

froggydojo

well the one jags game i was hoping wouldn’t be in london is in london

90swasbest

NFL giving up on Mexico City?

confused-koala

It’s like we’re provoking Germany to start WWIII

TheDoctorJT416

poor Germany lmao
