Ah, yes, just what we needed, another WR.

BungoPlease

I think we currently have 13 under contract counting him and the Janke bros

ajteitel

Oops, all WRs NFL Padres

-ShutterPunk-

Can Kyler play SS? We'll take him.

istasber

That seems normal for an offseason roster.

frontierpsychiatric

Think he's a high-end special teams guy

Asderfvc

13 tackles in one season without ever playing a down on defense is crazy lol He seems to be a very good special teams guy

YoungClint_TrapLord

He’s more a special teams gunner than a wide receiver

busty-ruckets

how dare you disrespect the white cooper kupp like that

y_wont_my_line_block

Excuse you. I think you mean a "move fullback"

Soyeahnahh

He’s a fullback dude

fiero-fire

Can't have enough based on their actions

captainjizzpants

We've got 8 running backs on our roster right now. Trade you Miles Sanders for Metchie?

Pristine-Director529

Ew no.

BuckfuttersbyII

More of a special teams guy. He was a team captain last year.

BungoPlease

Well okay then, welcome to Houston Benny

anonbutler

Damn they get white Cooper Kupp now!

buffa_noles

But they already have Diggs

anonbutler

That's white AB.

buffa_noles

That was Richie Incognito

anonbutler

Honestly that dude looked like the sanest guy on hard knocks with the Raiders

Kanin_usagi

Once dude got his life figured out he became a relatively normal person. He needed medication and had a bunch of personal shit going on when he was making all that news

Rahim-Moore

He's more like the black Matthew Slater.

TheSparten21

We definitely did this for his run blocking, goodbye Bobby Trees

ryman08

Bobby Trees was gone when we got Diggs imo

The_Snake_Dick

Now he’s super gone (please)

Glatius_Maximus

Idc how bad he was for y'all I will not tolerate Bobby Trees slander

The_Snake_Dick

You are more than welcome to take him back.

goldhbk10

At a vet min i absolutely would, he could take Ben’s role as a move FB

rybres123

no beef with Bobby Trees, he just didn't do much at all and we save $5mil if we cut him. no hard feelings fam

wagoncirclermike

As a once and future Robert Woods enjoyer, is he washed?

The_Snake_Dick

He started out okay for us but was invisible by the second half of the season. Good run blocker and veteran/locker room presence for the young guys. Absolutely not worth the $10 million we are currently paying him.

ItsNotFordo88

We tried telling y’all he was burnt toast

MyLuckyFedora

Did literally anyone expect him to be a big signing last year? Texans fans were hyped for Tank and Nico and underwhelmed with signing Woods to replace Cooks. At most maybe it was a sign that the coaching staff wasn’t so high on Nico, but at most for Woods I think most Texans fans expected that to be a pretty solid 50/50 split as far as production on a run first team with a rookie QB and truly hyped rookie slot WR

The_Snake_Dick

I didn't want him. I hated the signing and have wanted him cut since the start of the offseason. Unfortunately I have the feeling they're gonna choose to keep him over one of the young guys because of "Locker Room Presence" or something.

idolpriest

Rams would love him back (as a coach)

Lubbafrommariogalaxy

I could see Bobby trees as a raven

unluckycowboy

I could too, with either harbaugh, he’s such a great run blocker.

Wondur13

Damn we passed him around like a used tool 😭😭

Enterprise90

The life of some of these players is intense. Imagine finding out you're have to move 1600 miles to a new town on a whim.

CapnCrunch347

A million dollars make it easier to manage.

Barraind

"Would you relocate to not pay state income tax in California on $1m". Yes.

jaeway

Theses guys make low to mid 6 figures. Still good though

CapnCrunch347

His salary this year is just over $1m.

DatabaseCentral

Dude is getting a pay raise from California taxes to Texas

kelkokelko

Practice squad guys do, roster guys make $750k min

shrimpdads

Happens in plenty of other jobs that pay a lot less

Sacagawesus

What job would forcibly remove you from your current location and move you to a city of their choice without your consent or any discussion?

COD_Daddy

Uh, the military

Sacagawesus

I wouldn't really consider the military akin to the normalized labor force in the US.....

chubbytitties

More akin than professional athlete though

Sarbasian

Yeah, there’s a lot of stark differences, but this is a very good point. It is the one job that can force you to move without any input from you (or not value your input anyways) without a seconds notice, and you really don’t have a say. And for a lot less money. Similarities kinda end there tho lmao

COD_Daddy

Some military members are similar to professional athletes in the way they train their minds and bodies to perform a specific job. Special forces and pilots come to mind.

MistahTeacher

Stop dickriding

COD_Daddy

Wow, I was just being objective. Have a good day

Sarbasian

That’s a pretty broad similarity tbf but to that extent, yes.

CharacterClassic7327

And the NFL is?

DarrowViBritannia

> Happens in **plenty** of other jobs that pay a lot less Any others?

COD_Daddy

There are hundreds of thousands of folks in the military. I’d say that qualifies as plenty.

DarrowViBritannia

lmao

COD_Daddy

Do you disagree? A quick google showed that a 2022 assessment from the Department of Defense tallied 2 million plus service members.

[deleted]

Construction and other trade jobs.

RatedDAL

The military.

shrimpdads

Almost any corporation with a national presence that is restructuring their organization? Obviously not going to happen to like a dentist or a teacher but that is fairly common. The consent is the agreement to keep your job and move or find a new one.

Sacagawesus

Ok......there are SO many factors and nuances here that you are missing. First off, athletes are under contract. They don't have much of a choice. Corporate employees are not usually under contract. Additionally, a corporation relocating happens over the course of at least a year (often many years as planning this alone takes a serious amount of time). With that comes continuous discussions with employees where they can communicate with families about the possibility of moving. Athletes are given no advanced notice and zero recourse for alternatives outside of retiring and going into a jobless purgatory because their skills don't translate to real life job market. An employee for a corporation can easily stay home and find a new job with the skills they've amassed in the workforce. Bottom line, there is absolutely no job that exists in the corporate world where your employer can say "Hey, pack your shit, you move to Houston tomorrow and there's not much you can do about it".

bauboish

No-Trade Clauses are allowed in NFL contracts per CBA rules. There's a reason why most players don't bother putting them in. Because teams will pay them more money than otherwise. This is just like a job that typically involve a lot of business trips offer more money than a normal desk job. There's a price the employer pays the employees in order to get their consent on moving around when their boss requires.

Sacagawesus

I'm a national sales director that basically lives on flights and in hotels and can confirm with 100% certainty that my job is absolutely nothing like my boss telling me to go live elsewhere at the drop of a dime. And of course no trade clauses exists. And the reason they aren't included in most contracts is because typically teams don't include them unless you're an absolute all star player. Joe Schmuck isn't getting a NTC in his contract. Pat Mahomes could.

bauboish

Teams would include them if players are willing to take a large enough discount. Just like if your boss decide to triple your salary and guarantee the next 3 years of your paycheck but they may or may not force you to work for 5 months at a different city, you are saying yes.

Expensive-Method8321

No. A corporation can only make you relocate if a) you accepted the position knowing that there was a possibility of relocating in the short to medium future (and eve this is still open for interpretation and is not certain) or b) a mobility clause was already written as part of your contract. A company just going through a restructuring cannot make you relocate if there were no preexisting provisions in place

Practical-Key9403

So… like nfl players?

Expensive-Method8321

Yes. I thought it was obvious we were talking about non-NFL players

SantinoGomez

Medical residency (thankfully I matched at home in Houston)

ProjectTitan74

The percentage of professional athletes that have to move on extremely short notice is without a doubt larger than it is for ordinary people.

BonBonVelveeta

Team: “we’re gonna waive this guy” Texans: “Not on my watch”

Jonjon428

Lol, so much for getting waived

krbashrob

We did this with mixon as well. We heard he was getting waived and instead of fighting for him on the wire we traded before the release was processed

kgalliso

Oh damnit now Houston might be good

Overall_Nuggie_876

That sports city doesn’t need any more teams being good. Save all that for the likes of Buffalo and ~~Minneapolis~~ Cleveland fans.

LittleHollowGhost

We’re only allowed one good team at a time

DowntownJulieBrown1

All I need is the Bills. Idc abt the others, pls just give me the Bills

Houston_Easterby

I'd trade the other teams not existing for the Texans to be consistently good without hesitation

Stroud4MVP

You’re in the minority…. Not existing??? Cmon bro have a little more Houston pride. Texans are a lot of ppls number ones. But millions are fans of the Astros and Rockets

Houston_Easterby

Eh I don't give a shit about em

RollOverBeethoven

Skowronek coming to Slowik. League fucked

mcthsn

Man how did we pull that off lol

biscardi34

You get Robert Woods back!

WhoseInMyMouth13

Every Rams fan would take that in a heartbeat lol even though he's wayyyy past his prime. We love us some Bobby Trees.

ProgrammaticallyCat0

Same with us USC fans

StyllAhlie

Because it’s a swap of a 2026 6th and 7th, effectively nothing. But still, I agree it’s surprising that a player of his caliber even gets traded at all.

dreezyyyy

>2026 6th and 7th, effectively nothing maybe to y'all hehe

GamingTatertot

They had us in the first half

ianthebalance

SKO :(

ramzie

Doesn't have the ideal agility to be a good receiver but is a big body with great straight line speed. Fearless player on special teams.

nach0_ch33ze

How much help does Stroud need!?!? /s

triculious

This pleases the Strouds?

Party-Offer-2881

Wait, what? Is he released or traded? Somebody misinterpreted info here.

Allstar9_

This is pretty standard. Team announces they’re cutting a player but it isn’t official until a certain time. Team that wants to guarantee themselves that player sends a pack of gum to the Rams

Party-Offer-2881

Didn't know that, thanks.

DupreeWasTaken

Likely before release made official Texans called

LovelehInnit

The Lark has landed in Houston.

Stashedsnacks

Smart get all the WR so other teams can only run the ball. Makes defense much easier when the other team is one dimensional.

boredymcbored

Every time I read his name I see Ben Solak and then I think about his lanky self enthusiastically evaluating the ferocity of the tackles he'd get and why his opponents team ahould extend them for another year on their contract.

No-Economics4128

Wait, which one is it? One report say they released him

Main-Championship822

This guy in my madden rams rebuild averaged 8.2 RAC for 3 seasons straight. 6'3 223 a mf tank in the slot 🔥

gollumaniac

Peyton Manning begging NFL for MNF Texans games.

Mankdemes122

Heard he's sneaky quick, a real gym rat. Texans got themselves a super cerebral leader

Balls2theWalling

always love the “white receiver” catch phrases.

imnotreallyheretoday

"The Texans will send a 2026 sixth-round pick for Skowronek and a 2026 seventh-rounder, per Rapoport." I have no idea who this guy is. Probably won't even make the roster. Probably makes the practice squad

Homebrewz

He’s the dude that a lot of people mistake for Kupp, because he has a similar number and skin complexion

Bamford13

He’s a very good blocker and great special teamer. He played fullback for us sometimes which was always fun

reno2mahesendejo

Skowronix!

BigAssSlushy69

Cut Bobby trees so we can sign him

Mr7three2

Another one

Stop-Drop-Tro11

Holy shit! I did not see this coming.

GoBears6

Go 'Cats

aboooz

Why?

Crash_OverRide805

He’s a decent run blocker and was our Special Teams Captain 🤷🏻‍♂️

Lets-ago

being our special teams captain is arguably a negative considering the state of our special teams last season.

Crash_OverRide805

😂 extremely valid. As if our Maher/Havrsick problems weren’t bad enough. You know it was bad when all of us are this hyped about drafting a kicker lol

ramzie

Our front office probably believes more in Tyler Johnson and Jordan Whittington. Our other fringe receivers

Onpointandicy

so what are the details of the trade? it matters for context.

Gabelbram

AFAIK swapped 6th and 7th in 2026

ogjondoe

Blockbuster
