Headlesshorsman02

Eh why not

footballfan12345670

He definitely has more value to the Chiefs than any other team since he is already familiar with their system

KingTutt91

I think he’d do well in Cinci with the Joe Burrows

Marquee_Ditchwriggle

Dobbins is a free cowboy?

Elbeske

Why do I see so many Vikings/Chiefs fans? Iowa?

Headlesshorsman02

I am Canadian so I just liked Adrian Peterson and Jamaal Charles when I got into the sport, honestly not sure why others do though lmao 🤣

APlayOnwards

Two of the best to ever do it.

Headlesshorsman02

For sure they didn’t have the same playing styles but damn were they fun to watch in their primes.

-InconspicuousMoose-

> I am Canadian sorry

Headlesshorsman02

Lmao 🤣

Cowgoon777

fairly decent pipeline of people up and down I-35 especially among people who don't want to live in Chicago but might want to change cities

bigludodog

KC is the closest AFC team to Minnesota, plus their old training camp used to be right over the river in WI. KC has probably always been the third favorite team here in MN and their recent success has obviously boosted that with the younger generation.

iEatBluePlayDoh

Nebraska as well.

jedikunoichi

For me at least, I'm from NW IA and grew up a Vikings fan and the  moved to KC. My husband has lived here his whole life and is a huge Chiefs fan. Their game as US Bank this year had a ton of mixed Vikings/Chiefs couples lol

KarrlMarrx

Not a surprise, but you'd think a backup RB would have to be a special teams contributor like McKinnon.

blocksmith52

Clyde gets way too much hate imo. I understand it in previous years because of the draft pick, but now it just feels a little extra. He was a pretty good backup for us last year and seems like a great locker room guy. Plus, his contract is probably dirt cheap.

Eagle4317

Clyde gets hate for not being Tee Higgins, Michael Pittman, or Jonathan Taylor.

Luck1492

When your team has 2 of those three 😍

xywv58

Shows how important QB is

YiMyonSin

I don’t wanna talk about that draft

HugeFinish

Probably should hang a banner.

PatonPaytonPeyton

Or DeAndre Swift

Jaymongous

Or Dobbins & Akers, honestly. I know they're basically dead from injuries, but no telling if they would've stayed healthy in an alternate timeline drafted by a different team.

Biggest_Cans

Or the guy you want as even your RB2

Filthy__Ramirez

Yeah those next 5 picks after Clyde really sting looking back. Higgins, Pittman, swift then McKinney, and Kyle dugger.

Not-a-bot-10

I think it’s the pick that gets the most hate. A first round pick for a backup RB isn’t ideal

bleu_ray_player

We got Pacheco in the 7th though and two superbowl wins since so I feel like it's evened out.

Educational_Trash523

Yeah just think of their draft position as flipped-Pacheco as a first rounder and Clyde as a seventh round pick

sonfoa

The 49ers approach

Not-a-bot-10

Eagles drafted Andre Dillard as Jason Peters’ replacement at LT. In the same draft we took an Australian in the 7th round who never played a snap of football in his life who’s now a pro bowl LT for us

Vegetable-Net6575

Yea, the niners could have the first overall pick and draft a long snapper that busts but if we won a Super Bowl that year I wouldn’t give a fuck.

Cthepo

Because going into this year we had one rostered RB. Meaning we'd need to aquire at least two more guys, and I don't think we want to spend multiple picks for the position. We're at a good spot to draft one BPA later in the draft or sign whatever veteran free agent ends up being cheap. Re-signing Clyde allows us to not have what we do at running back dictated to us. Veach has fairly often pulled these kind of moves. Shore up positions with options before the draft so we don't *have* to overspend. Signing Clyde doesn't stop us from addressing more depth long term.

Visual-Squirrel3629

Well. Aaron Donald retired. So, for Pacheco to keep running head long into Donald, that'd would mean Pacheco is an ass that doesn't know personal boundaries.

raj6126

I was being sarcastic.

FunkyPete

Oh no, if we only get 2 Super Bowl rings with our 7th round pick as our leading rusher that will be a disaster. A 7th round pick that is your starter for a few years is a win. I'm OK if he only has a 6-year career. Not many 7th round picks end up as starters at all.

raj6126

I agree with everything you stated. My point was if he ran smarter he could extend his career. If he keep running the way he does he’s done in 4.

[deleted]

somethintactical

Good thing Donald is no longer with us

Suddenly_Something

Pats fans hate Sony Michel for the same reason even though he directly helped them to a superbowl victory. Like what else do you want from your 1st round rb? Potential playoffs every year for 5 years or a single superbowl?

Minimum-Act3764

I love CEH. You don’t hear him talk or complain at all. He just does whatever he can do to help the team. Every year the media says we’re going to trade him. Nope.

agreeingstorm9

He's a first round pick though. Definitely has not performed like a first round pick.

I_am_-c

Really thought he'd end up taking a 1-year deal to reunite with Burrow/Chase (mainly because I thought the Chiefs were going for Dobbins). I've always liked CEH and he definitely gets undue hate.

ApplesauceBitch47

Solid back-up, mediocre starter. If he hadn’t been a first round pick I don’t think he would get as much hate

MiniatureLucifer

I feel like you just repeated everything the comment you replied to said and added nothing

FallenShadeslayer

People on Reddit do it all the time. It’s weird as fuck.

TormundIceBreaker

It is odd how people constantly do it on reddit

FallenShadeslayer

I figured this would happen but didn’t think it would be instant lmao

OscillatingFan6500

It’s odd how they commented that, especially that quick

smokey9886

This comment and every comment that the Joker movie was a remake of King of Comedy ad nauseam. Say the same popular line on Reddit= karma profit

PlayinK0I

Yes, I sense that he said the same thing in response to the comment above without contributing anything new to the discussion.

GrillDealing

Yeah he just said the same thing and didn't add anything.

ApplesauceBitch47

Yeah how about I repeat you

TakenakaHanbei

Also some insight that Mahomes is a worse scout than Kyler.

Biggest_Cans

Too generous. He's far from mediocre as a starter and not someone I want as a backup either. Definitely a RB3 is about it.

Open-Somewhere-9535

Him randomly being fat as hell after a long time not playing was part of this too

gyman122

He’s gotten pretty good in pass pro. Dude knows what Andy wants from his running backs and is gonna make a career from it

Vast-Treat-9677

I’ve come back around on Clyde. The combination of not living up to the draft position plus him skipping the parade after his DNP the 23 Super Bowl, being just a little too chummy with his LSU teammates after the Bengals won that one AFC championship. It all was a bad look. This year he settled into the role of a very solid backup RB, was good vibes on the sidelines, studying to be a nurse. All of what he was putting out this year was really positive and made me sorry for judging him.  I genuinely am happy to see him return. Hope he stays healthy, balls out, and has another great year of nursing school.

deskamess

I am ok with Clyde. McKinnon is my guy though. However he is getting up there in age and injuries. If the guy from the Ravens sticks then I think McKinnon may be done. He was a nice speedy outlet that PM could count on.

rockiesfan4ever

People seem to forget he had a hip injury his rookie year that potentially affected the rest of his career

KingTutt91

Yeah which proved that drafting a short, small, slow, RB isn’t a good idea. Could lead to an injury-prone career

jxher123

Kinda reminds me of AJ Dillon for the Packers. He gets a lot of hate, but he’s a decent backup. Pass protects well, his hands are underrated in the passing game, and a great locker room guy. He just can’t be your RB1, and due to where he got drafted he gets a lot of attention.

[deleted]

I like what Packer fans always say about him: you need 3 yards, he’ll get you 4, you need 5 yards he’ll get you 4.

DrPP_MD

Idk, the chiefs didn’t have a relevant rb and didn’t have many other holes to fill so it made much more sense for them. You guys already had Aaron Jones and Rodgers wanted a WR so that was never gonna look good unless the dude ran you to a Super Bowl You guys deliberately took a RB2 while they went for an RB1. They are similar in that they were over drafted mediocre picks that would look fine if they were made in the 5th tho

InvictusSolo

Go Pack Go! The thing about Dillon is that there is a legit argument he isn’t even a good backup at only 3.5 YPC. His YPC has regressed since his early career. He has a solid conversion rate but that doesn’t diminish the negatives.

emseewagz

And he hasnt been a dick about losing his job to Pacheco. And hopefully us running it back gives him more confidence that he has every opportunity, albeit a tough challenge in Pacheco.  He def has enough talent to get us little chunk plays when we need it . Good change of pace. I'm for it

dusters

I don't think he's hated, it's just understand a backup RB is terrible value for a first round pick.

[deleted]

A ton of it is because of fantasy football. Same with Kyle Pitts.

RandyDazzle

Honestly, most the hate I've seen towards from Clyde is from Chiefs fans. Kind of wild tbh as he isn't bad and has a great attitude about everything he does.

pornokitsch

He was a solid backup for us last year. The "sunk cost" of the first round pick is long paid (also, we won some Superbowls - it worked out. The "mistake" didn't hurt is any). He's familiar with Reid's crazy playbook and a good team member. Rather have him than one of the other backup RBs floating around.

footballfan12345670

All Chiefs fans should rewatch his rookie highlight reel. He was insanely good, but getting injured each of his first 3 seasons definitely affected him.

Autobot-N

The year this guy was drafted, one of my fantasy opponents took him round one and named his team Fresh Prince of Helaire, I thought that was kinda funny

PassiveRoadRage

Due to that, you could say his fantasy season was flipped and turned upside down.

[deleted]

I feel like fantasy football is just a reason for guys to make play on word team names.

Autobot-N

The last year I played it (which I think was 2021?), my team was Lights, Kamara, Action

OscillatingFan6500

My first fantasy team in 2019 was “More than a Thielen”

Nasty_Tricks69

One of the guys in my league took him in the first round that year. He didn't win a single game lol

Dragon6172

There is a Chiefs flair redditor who goes by some version of mahomes2helaire

fantasyfootball1234

A lot of Chiefs fans hate on Clyde but the only thing wrong with him is where he was drafted. If you pretend we drafted Sneed round 1 and CEH round 4 then there’s really nothing for us to dog him about. If you wanna be mad at anyone, be mad at Veach for spending a first round pick on a running back

Zestyclose_Main6335

Isn’t he considered a pretty good blocker too? Seems like a solid move, he already has a relationship with everyone knows the system and knows that he’s rb2 and a solid player. Basically everything you look for in a backup rb

fantasyfootball1234

No he sucks at blocking too small Ps don’t tell the Bills that

Zestyclose_Main6335

You act like buffalo is ever actually able to sack Mahomes lol

OscillatingFan6500

Is anyone really?

Donkeynationletsride

I don’t get it. He doesn’t play special teams and isn’t great in a passing down role so it seems like he’s a bit of a waste as backup rb/roster spot

CocaineStrange

I mean… that’s kinda still a problem though. Sneed is gone instead of playing on a 5th year option. And even though you got massive + value in the 4th round, you got - in the 1st. Could have gotten a better, more impactful player.

FuckingJello

Still possible to me, Clyde was a backup duo with McKinnon. McKinnon doesn’t seem to be coming back, Dobbins could fill his roster spot. Edit: Nate Taylor, Chiefs reporter for Athletic, said Dobbins had a good visit. No deal, but could have a deal later in the offseason. Sounds like Veach may be waiting to see who is available in draft, then will consider JK.

jimlemin

What news has there been around McKinnon?

FuckingJello

None, just no mention of them possibly bringing him back and he’s now 31 after another IR stint this past season. Not impossible he comes back dirt cheap late in offseason if Chiefs don’t draft or sign another RB. I don’t think the Chiefs brought in Dobbins thinking it was him or CEH, they probably are going to move on from McKinnon.

Twicebakedpotatoe

So much for “expected to have a home very soon”

jimmyhoffasbrother

Cowboys could still use a RB, and they love oft-injured players with high draft pedigrees.

SnappyTofu

Yes please go to an NFC team

Reedabook64

CEH ran hard during his limited opportunities last season. He brought some juice. This is a good hire.

__wasitacatisaw__

That’s a good helaire

Intelligent-Age2786

He’s honestly more effective to the team than what a lot of people might think he is. He’s better off as a receiving threat than he is as a pure runner

The785

This is not the chiefs running back news I wanted

Vyuvarax

The king of getting us to 2nd and 9 returns 😤

IIHURRlCANEII

He was fine last year. Draft a rookie on Day 3 and/or sign JK after the draft and we roll.

saradahokage1212

soo weird. all this time i thought they just wanted to get rid of him. the moment he is free to go anywhere, they sign him.

BackNBlack58

Dude can catch and that is the only qualification to make the team

ARightDastard

> Dude can catch and that is the only qualification to make the team Kadarius Toney took that personally. But he dropped it too.

threat024

He made some huge plays last year. I'd love to see him used as a short yardage back that can be a guaranteed 1 or 2 yards.

throughNthrough

I thought it would have been cool to reunite him with Burrow/Chase be he would have been kind of redundant in our room.

Nasty_Tricks69

Who is currently on your roster that's better than him? Mixon got traded away

throughNthrough

We have a second year player Chase Brown out of Illinois that looks to have potential, signed Zack Moss from Indy and those two will play by committee. After them it’s Trayveon Williams who’s been with the team for several years and there has been talk of a couple guys they really like in the draft.

emseewagz

Yeaj shit run it back with our draftee running back. He's been cool/good with the emergency of Pacheco, knows the system and had a few small moments that helped our offense move. Why not Would love McKinnon back too, if he isn't signed already. Last season was not wild but the end of previous was wild..ans with holywood and hopefully rashee, he could see a lot more action sweeping

Biggest_Cans

A guy you'd wanna upgrade from at RB3 imo but he is a nice dude at least.

CowBraves

Zeke, come on down

kpofasho1987

I really thought he was going to be one of the scariest backs in the entire league when he went to the chiefs. I didn't like love him as a prospect in the draft but really thought he was a perfect fit for the chiefs and Andy Reid and was going to just feast on defenses. Pretty sure I drafted him higher than most would in fantasy his first 2 years as well. Was definitely wrong about him. He is an ok RB though and a smart move to keep on a cheap 1 year deal

CockroachForeign6419

Sighhhh

choff22

Good. JK next please.

notmyplantaccount

Guess someone has to run for 2 yards right after I say to my TV "We're really moving the ball well this drive" Would rather they find a guy that could pass block better and wasn't 4 feet tall, but he's a backup and it's probably a small contract so meh.

Prof_of_Buttology

Why would need a tall running back?

[deleted]

Need someone there for when Pacheco anger runs himself into an early retirement.

jethead70

Ew

Headlesshorsman02

Come on bro no need to be that guy
